I tried calling this place twice in a day to place a special cake order. I waited on the line for 5 minutes both times without anyone answering the phone. it,s a wonder you are still in business.

Great selection.

Come for the peanut butter cups, stay for the everything else. Aux Delices is the ByWard Market’s oldest bakery but it was my first experience with contactless pick up very early on in the COVID situation and it set the bar for me for future interactions all over the place. I ordered a box of assorted goodies (cannolis, Nanaimo bar, rum ball, and various other delights all of which were delicious) and was able to order and pay online with no issues. Nakita was super communicative from order to pickup and I never even saw her! I highly recommend spending your money here. Delicious and beautiful treats, innovative ideas and a hard-working staff, what more could you want?

Lovely assortment of cakes, cookies and various breads. Also Ice cream and gluten-free options. They sell their day olds for a reduced price. Friendly staff and a great place in the market.

Of all the choices in the Byward Market, this bakery sells my daughter's favorite iced gingerbread cookies. We stop in every time we visit the market. They also sell cold beverages which are great on a hot summer day.

Had a couple cookies and I enjoyed them

Had a couple cookies and I enjoyed them

The service was great, and there's a large variety (including gluten-free goodies). I tried the cream horn, cannoli, gingerbread, mille feuille, and a lemon meringue tart. The gingerbread and the lemon meringue were good, but the others were too sweet for my taste.

Out-of-town buyers beware. I paid $21 for six very pretty cupcakes just before heading back to Montreal. Upon my return home, I realized that the cupcakes were very dry (either overbaked or stale) so I reached out to the bakery. The owner was very nice and quick to respond. I was told that the cupcakes are made every two days (there is no date on the package, so there's no way of knowing which day you've landed on) and the only solution offered by the business is to return the cupcakes—impossible in my situation. The frosting was delicious but the cupcakes were very disappointing, especially given the price.

I'm so excited to get my Christmas goodies again!! Nakita always comes though. I ordered 90 boxes of decorate yourself cookies to sub the kid's Chrismtas party at my husband's work. The boxes were neatly packed, so they were easy to carry. The cookies were tasty and beautiful! For myself, I'm getting a gingerbread tree, the perfect centrepiece for my table: pretty and delicious! I'm also getting a Yule log, because it's incredible: the sponge is perfect, and that Italian buttercream is light as a pillow!

Cute little bakery, the amount of gluten free goodies are amazing!

YUMMY

Nothing fancy, they sell cookies and stuff.

Honestly I would love to give this place a higher rating but all three things I got were lacklustre. The carrot cake had no flavour and was much too crunchy. The chocolate sache? Sashe? Cake was terrible. Grainy. The lemon cheesecake cups were okay but there was barely any cheesecake in them! The twist in a cup was nice. And so was the girl at the counter. Not worth our 20$.

We stopped in today and got a double chocolate brownie, date square, peanut butter cup, millefeuille and a butter tart square. I have no idea how all of them could be so completely gross, from an off consistency to cheap icing sugar filling to the “double chocolate” brownie that somehow doesn’t taste like chocolate at all. Avoid this place at all costs!! :/

Worse apple pie ever!

Chose some delicious desserts for our wedding and everyone loved them. Highly recommended!!

Wonderful assortment of pies, cakes, cookies and pastries. The strawberry rhubarb pie was a hit at Thanksgiving!

I must say, I’m not difficult when it comes to food, much less desserts, but I was disappointed with what I bought yesterday. I bought a piece of black forest cake and a little apple crumble pie... it all kind of tasted the same, just sugar. Barely could taste the chocolate or apple because of the overbearing taste of sugar. I understand that desserts are sweet but this felt like someone had dropped the pouch of sugar in these two very different deserts. I didn’t end up finishing either desserts.

Fantastic quality gingerbread. Cute and unique designs. Good service. Somewhat pricy.

been coming here for years, the owner always recognizes his regulars and chit chats, the buttercream horns are always a good bet, their truffles are really good and the bread makes for really tasty sandwiches

We bought 6 small cakes and unfortunately couldn’t finish them. They were all extremely dry and tasted very stale. The one good thing I have to say is they looked good (hence 1 star).

We bought six small cakes (mocha, marble and chocolate). Once we got home, the cakes were extremely stale. Unfortunately they looked delicious but we were extremely disappointed with the cakes.

I adore this little bakery, it is well situated in the market and always has a great selection. The gluten free options are quite tasty and look beautiful! Would highly recommend.

Cake was very dry. Expected a lot better considering the price.

The best cookies. I return regularly. For the most part the cookies are of the traditional style, meaning not overwhelmingly sugary. Ditto for tarts and other pastries.

Beautiful. Delicious. Pastries!

Absolutely charming bakery; everything looked so delicious. We bought so much and it’s all gone already . Worker behind the counter was a great help with telling us the ingredients and suggesting choices for us . New Owner has done a great job ????

Very disappointing experience as we had read good things about this place, but it seems people are easily impressed. We had a croissant, custard éclair, rum ball and cream horn (cornet à la crème). All but the rum ball were very stale. Croissant’s tips were burnt and although they clearly use decent butter, overall texture and taste were closer to grocery store quality than French bakery; it is hard to judge fairly because of staleness though. Éclair was small, ganache and custard, way too sweet and choux pastry, dry. Rum balls are supposed to be chocolate-dipped sponge or regular cake crumbs/scraps infused with rum; some use cookie dough instead. This one was some sort of oozy blob of almost liquid (chestnut?) cream dipped in a very thin layer of chocolate; it was so revolting I spat out my first (and only) bite. The cream horn’s filling was delicious, frothy and great level of sweetness, but the horn itself was dry and stale.

Love this bakery! !Always fresh and wonderful cakes and pies. The Apple Cinnamon Pie is to die for! Lots of creative options to give as gifts! Can’t wait to see what comes next!

The St. Honore cake that we ordered was truly delicious - it made our Valentine's Day!

I am so happy with my order! I was looking for a classic cake for a family get together and the people at Aux Delices were so wonderful! we placed an order Tuesday and the cake was ready two days later! I recommend the double chocolate cakes, but they had a St Honore cake and Croquenbuche in the display case that looked delicious.

Thanks so much to Nikita for helping me, located in Toronto, to get a Death by Chocolate birthday cake to my grandson who was staying in a hotel in Ottawa with his family. All my arrangements went smoothly. Can't wait to hear about the cake!

The baklava was the best that I have ever eaten. Thank you for this Kingly gift.

Beautiful shop with so many options! Took home a box of small cakes and squares to eat on our way home. We got a apple cinnamon tart and my husband was fighting over who got to finish it.

The pre-order system was easy to use. The cake was delicious ????

We had a horrible experience at another bakery in the area. Later that day we went to this shop for a treat. The employee working was so friendly! We got a a pecan pie to bring home for dinner and some assorted shortbread for the car ride home. Wow the shortbread came in 12 flavours, coconut was my favourite. I would definitely recommend this place for a treat, and I’ll be ordering cakes from them in the future!

Suddenly cancelled my order, no reason given.

Bought a cake for $30. It wasn't the one I ordered. On top of that, it was frozen and dry, likely it spent some weeks in their freezer. Avoid at all cost!

I had ordered a box through Ottawa Artisans, and picked it up today. Once there, after speaking with Nakita Gomes, it turns out I ordered a completely different box than I thought I did, and I was grumpy - though it absolutely my fault, and not hers. She was kind and understanding, and I was able purchase some hot chocolate bombs (the whole reason I had ordered a box in the first place) right at that time. Though the box wasn't what I had thought I had ordered (again, my fault), my husband and I were pleasantly surprised by the goodies inside, and they were much enjoyed. Thank you for your patience with me today!

We got 24 decorated cookies, they were gingerbread and delicious!

Horrible place! Not clean and not professional! Got food poisoning from their desserts! Tasted like it’s been there forever. Had to throw it all in the garbage waste of money!

We ordered a Death by Chocolate Cake last weekend and it was delicious! I loved the chocolate buttercream icing. We had called the shop to ask about what kind of chocolate they used. The women on the phone was so nice, she assured us that she used good cocoa powder and even went as far as giving me the brand. I will he ordering again :) Thanks ????

Tasty treats. Always stop here when in the market.

I bought some cookies they were AMMMMMAAAZZZIIINNGG!!! Very festive!

Ordered a Croquembouche for a gathering and it was delicious! The caramel was so tasty and the whipped cream filling was on point :)

Nice staff, yummy peanut butter cake but the Halloween cookies were far too overbaked/dry. ☹️
