I’m shocked at the good reviews for this place. If I could give zero stars I would. We stopped here for a quick snack during a bike ride. First of all, the place has a really distinct, musty smell, almost unbearable to be in. The staff were really unnerving and took our order without hardly saying anything. I ordered the turkey sandwich and a coke and my husband got a cookie and a bottle of juice. As they prepared the sandwich, I noticed it was a simple kaiser roll, with mayo on it, and it appeared they were pulling pieces of roast turkey out of a glass container of ice water and dabbing it dry with a paper towel. I could be wrong about this, because I only glanced in that direction. When I got the sandwich, it was a smushed up bun with a few chunks of Grey-ish turkey and mayo. (For $8.95!!!) I took one bite and threw it in the garbage because I was too nervous to bring it back. My husbands cookie tasted like the inside of the restaurant and he threw his out as well. The juice he got was over a year past the expiry date and my coke had the same musty/moldy old basement smell coming from it. All in all, we threw everything out and wasted over $15 on inedible food and weird service. Later in the day I was sick, who knows if it’s from that one bite or not.

I recently had a cake done by the Hot Roast Company via Georgina's Cakes; it was the first time I had ever ordered a specialty cake. The ordering process was easy and the end result was exactly what I was looking for, she did an AMAZING job! I had ordered the cake for a surprise party in Kingston and a number of strangers approached me to ask about where I had gotten the cake from because it was so beautiful; I think that speaks volumes about the amount of hard work and dedication she puts into each creation. Thank you so much for the amazing cake, it was absolutely perfect!

I've had great chocolate milkshakes, great BLTs, and A-minus potato salad here. It's always comfort food for me, but their menu does offer more than just diner favourites. I always enjoy my meal here, even if it feels a little short-staffed sometimes compared to big-city restaurants. Just wish they'd add a bit of zest or a teaspoon of "pickle-jar juice" to the potato salad...

This is one of those little gem places. The food is amazing, the price is surprisingly low and the portions are huge, we had lots of left overs. The server was incredibly nice and polite. Only reason to take a star away is they were insanely under staffed. One cook and one server and a packed restaurant. Together they did a great job but it was a bit of a wait. There were some disgruntled customers and the the server was able to handle the situation professionally and was able to keep the customer at bay.

Name sounds like it's a coffee shop, and they have coffee but the fresh roast is all about their roasted meats which make a good sandwich. Good service as well.

Club sandwich & potato salad were both great, no complaints. Server personality was a little unusual, although not offensive, throughout; he did make a joke when he delivered our plates. No 'thank you' when he took our $ or at any point, which unfortunately seems to be fairly typical wherever you go these days. Manners are cheap, yet priceless. What really got me was the heavy greasy/smoky smell (I think if they just turned the exhaust fan on, this would not be an issue) which almost made it difficult to breath and necessitated the washing of coat & hat when I got home. We'll likely return for the food when in the area & hopefully they can work on the other items in the interim.

I stopped in for breakfast with my family. It was overall not bad and i would like to try the lunch menu. A few general points: - Signage as you walk in would be helpful "Please seat your self" "take out at counter". Group after group walked in with that awkward "what do I do" until the waitress intervened and directed them. - this is a just a personal opinion from my restaurant days...the restaurant is not your office, it's not your living room etc.. One of the booths had the restaurant laptop sitting at it with a huge extension cord running to it. As the place filled up customer after customer walked up to this prime booth only to walk away. - the home fries are really lacking, they need to put some zing in the recipe. - Yorkshire gold tea would really be perfect to match with a true UK breakfast. - Service was great, but the waitress was doing a lot on her own. -it's a little cluttered, and i get that it's their shtick, unconventional etc etc but it's a little much - should consider showing the Scottish premiere games on Saturday morning :) that's just a personal request. - less highland stuff more Glasgow stuff :)
