Nice clean store and well stocked. Why I gave it a much lower star rating then it probably deserves is because there were only 2 stills open and no self checkout (turned off) and each till was 6 to 7 people deep. I saw 2 other staff walk by and do nothing. I cashier was chatty and took her time with each customer instead of recognizing situation. Spent 15 mins there more than I needed to. This one lack of caring about customers makes me decide to go and give e my money somewhere else. Somewhere where they re organize that my time is important too.

Store is kept quite clean. They offer many brands for options. Bakery in store is always has fresh bread and buns. There is a pharmacy on site for added convenience. They also have a great fresh cooked section of you need to grab a quick breakfast or lunch! This location also has a Starbucks, to help quench the caffeine need!

What a nice store! Lot's of English speaking staff that have class, manners and tact. The meat, fruit and vegetable departments are always fresh and presentable. The bakery is also so very fresh. My associates, friends as well as myself will always shop there as the staff there all really take pride in there store. Also it is nice to see the staff and management take pride in how they look by wearing respectable uniforms and always looking clean and neat.

Honest Opinion only! I've always been to Safeway other's location but never experienced of how RACIST (some) of your employees are. I only was inside for a few minutes, enough time to purchase 1 item. It may take me a few more Shopping visits to relearn the layout to the Store. Lots of Great Sales of Toilet Paper!, The 1 item that I purchased, although I did forget my Air Miles card Today. Plus the Debit machine at the Self Checkout did not Work, the first time. The Staff Member had to Reboot the Debit machine. Thanks for your Help. You only need to spend $50 to get a coupon for pennies off fuel at their gas bar. Luckily $50 at Safeway is only a little bit of cheese and sandwich meat. So, boom! Safeway has a good produce department (fresh with a good selection) and great bakery (lots baked in store, best selection of any grocery store in Fort St John). There is a Starbucks in store if you want to grab a coffee. There deli/cafe is great for getting quick meals; make sure to check and see what the daily specials are. The staff are friendly but the self-service check-outs are usually understaffed and you may end up waiting a bit if you have a problem.

I often go their for the custom made deli sandwiches, but lately the quality has not been great. They used to have the best sandwich bar in town. Now the produce in the trays looks like it's been there a week and might have been slightly frozen and they are always out of the sauces required to make my favourite sandwich. Fort st. John Safeway is extremely clean and well-stocked. The produce it's always fresh! The ladies and gentlemen that work at the tills and in the bakery and then the deli I've always been fantastic. At the tills on Blue Friday they are very patient hahaha. At the deli they allow me to be my picky self. And I've ordered from the bakery many times and they always try to accommodate interesting and special orders. One downfall that happens on and off is things like promotional stuff the groceries are tagged early enough.( so if you go shopping early in the morning you have to scour your flyer you can't just look on the Shelf) And are restocked enough On promotional days. I was imagining the sales they would make on a blue Friday if they just kept the toilet paper coming or the bacon. lol I have friends that told me they go and it's all out. I don't know the logistics of this but I would love it if it was rectified. Because it is an amazing grocery store for our small town. It could be because of our staff turnover that we have here in the city.

Went in the other day and picked up a few items. Was waiting on the woman at the counter to finish her personal phone call. When she saw I wasn't detered by her ignoring me, she said rudely. ' you can use the self check out you know' I advised her that I needed to make a purchase that I couldn't from the self checkout. She was a bit miffed that she had to help me. I think the staff here are usually really good but management needs to let the counter staff know the personal calls are for breaks and that customers need to be prioritized.

've been a dedicated Safeway shopper for over 30 years. We've gotten our water bottles via their exchange program for many years. With the Covid crisis, we are unable to exchange empties for full bottles as they have discontinued the program, which I understand and I've had to switch to a different company. What I don't understand is that why they won't except my empty bottles and give me my deposit back. Yeah yeah...I get the fear everyone has but it WAS NOT MY CHOICE to have to find a new company for our water. I have been very disappointed with our local Safeway for awhile and had begun using the Save On online pickup shopping but still preferred Safeway. I have to say I am now a full time Save On shopper.

Great selection of popular brands. fairly priced for the area. clean, tidy, friendly and helpfull staff. every time I have gone and it has got busy, they seem to open more cashier's making the wait times quicker.

A bit pricier than Wal-Mart and a few of its other competitors; though if you find what you'd like on sale it tends to be well priced. Has fairly good produce, a suprisingly good butcher and most of the items you'd expect to find at any local Safeway. The only thing that'd be nice to see would be a larger selection of imported goods like you'd find at Competitors such as No Frills or the small local store - North Asian Foods.
