This Bakery belongs to the category of Bakery.
Not quite a patisserie and boulangerie first, this French deli has a smaller selection of dessert and baked goods. Although the taste was pretty good and the tarts especially yummy, what you get is simply not worth the price. -- "Mimi's Cake Tour"
It smells SO delicious here!! Although the croissant I got was not as buttery as France and I purchased in late afternoon, I can only assume the morning ones must be so fresh. I also got a jar of the butternut squash soup - TO DIE FOR, perfectly seasoned. They also cater and have a bunch of other items I will definitely try
Great little place and bread is delicious
Good bakery, not big seating space inside. Free parking but parking lot is small. Good coffee and pastries. I am very familiar with French cuisine and they need much more variety to offer. Also focusing on details is important. That part of Toronto getting very busy , there is some huge buildings under construction and they should use this opportunity to grow up.
Never disappointed as as I've been going... That's 2003 btw????????????
Overpriced for what it is, I stay away from anything they have in a cooked meal section (had some type of sand in my lobster Quiche once, yuck). The 6' pumpkin cake was nice but definitely not worth $30. I've had better pastries from Coppa's and Highland farm for way less. Meh.
Great quality French food. Premium pricing
Delicious croissant:)
Best croissant in town, had the bread pudding for the first time: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Awesome love it
Absolutely authentic and tasty, French pastries and dishes. Absolutely overpriced --would be an average patisserie if you were in France.
I went in for the first time and was greeted with a bonjour and good morning. Sat down and had there French Toast, It’s delicious and the price is unbeatable. I also walked away with a fresh croissant. I’ll definitely be going back to try more pastries.
Great service, can get busy but always good
Great food, but the service is horrific. Go there for take out.
The best food in the area.
The almond chocolate croissant is the bomb!
Patrick and his staff make great baked goods and bistro favourites. Try a warm ham and cheese croissant with mornaises sauce - yum
Lovely French authentic bakery
Exceptional french breads, croissant & pastries. Some of the best in the city.
*UPDATE OF MY REVIEW: After spending about $400-$500.00 at Ma Maison this month, because the food is different and interesting. I went in to grab a latte and a few croissants. The order was $18.50 and when I realized I had inadvertently left my debit card on my desk, I popped out my MasterCard and proceeded to tap only to chastised by the lady working there and told "next time to have cash or debit" because my order was under $20! She would have seen me there many times in the past month dropping $50 to $100 here and there but apparently I needed to be told I was not allowed to put a $18.50 purchase on my MasterCard. How gauche!! The SriLankan chefs do prepare the French dishes well and I was enjoying the French style food, but it wasn't so great that I cannot go somewhere else with more polite staff.
Cute place, amazing food and coffee!
Bought creamy mashed potatoes with beef pieces. Gave us 4 great dinners - nice to be spoiled. Butter tarts did it.
Delicious pastries and coffee. The Croque Monsieur is just as good as they are in France A great way to start a morning.
There's no better way to treat yourself on a Saturday morning than with a homemade real pastry from ma maison.
Amazing pastries, soups. Everything is homemade and delicious. Highly recommend!
Pleasant and helpful staff. Baked goods looked and tasted amazing. Nice to be able to place my order in my native tongue, French. Merci!
Love the chocolate frozen crossisants!
They accept cash, don't wear masks and require touching the debit machine by default tip option.
Food is a amazing, only issue is that owner/manager need to staff better. Waited 15 min to get a croissant!
Stepping in to this bakery feels like stepping into a boulangerie in Paris. Very quaint and well decorated with a delicious selection of French foods! Their baked goods are the closest to real French baguettes and croissants that I've found so far.
This is a small bakery with a good menu of French classic receipes. The sweets and pastries are good and fresh and the food can be served there or taken out. Everything I tried from salads and quiches to Boeuf Bourguignon is delicious. The soups are definitely my favourites.
A superb secret in Toronto for exceptional French pastry, we have tried a large number and this one is fabulous ????
Very good just came back and croissants are delicious. Got a strawberry mousse that my husband enjoyed and chicken liver pate that I miss because most food stores here only sell mix of pork pâtés so am really excited to try it with blue cheese Yum! The only downside is the price. Way too expensive compared to French patisseries back home. I could have bought bread, croissants, petits pains, quiches, and tartes for that price
Great selection of French food, desserts, and croissants. We had coq au vin, which we deemed très authentiqe. Tiny place, but very nice ambience.
FOLKS HERE'S THE DEAL: The area where this place is located is just perfect! its around the royal York area, ..anyone who goes around there can tell its a place for the richer folks; that being said this place is OVER PRICED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had called looking for brioche bread, something that is very hard to find! I called twice, and I asked them how big, how much its serves yada yada, .. this loaf is half the size of a normal loaf in width and less than what the claimed it was in width !!! for 6 bucks and change .. (she didn't even give me my receipt that I asked for) While I was in there I asked for a slice of quiche, the size for the 6 bucks and change is ridiculous!!!! I def' left that there! CONCLUSION: If YOU HAVE THE EXTRA MONEY TO SPEND FOR THE SMALL AMOUNT OF FOOD YOURE GETTING, ALL POWER TO YOU: ME,.. HELL NO! I RATHER TRAVEL ELSE WHERE
Fantastic croissants and espresso. Haven't had the opportunity to try other food but everything looks and smells amazing
I went for the first time before Labour Day and I thought it might be very busy. It was, as it was just before closing, however the server staff was very friendly and the food was served to us quickly. It is delicious, great taste and felt completely satisfied. Sensing that the food is healthy because I did not feel to eat for several hours after, as I often do when I eat at other restaurants. I fully recommend this lovely neighbourhood catering-restaurant.
Great croissants. It’s worth the trip there just for he croissants.
Good criossants and chocolate cake.
I’m not sure if it’s under new management, but something has definitely changed and not for the better. I used to love going here because the food was pretty authentic to what I’m used to from France. The prices have gone up drastically and the quality has gone down. I can’t speak for the other locations but I’ve now been very disappointed the past two times I’ve gone. I won’t be going back.
Good good... very busy... had to wait a little too long to be served our meals though...
Delicious authentic French bakery. I tried an assortment of pastries, a peach tart, and a large serving of beef bourguignon. Highly recommended.
Love this spot for the food and cozy ambiance. Pastries are beautifully made, and the food is super high quality and delicious. Quiches are such a treat here. It is IMO very expensive - but it is good enough that I keep coming back!
I've really enjoyed the food I've had from Ma Maison, and I really want them to survive the covid lockdown but they need to treat their customers with some basic respect. They indicate on multiple platforms that they are open for delivery (or more) at this time, but I've tried various ways to reach them and they don't respond to any. If they aren't going to respond they should at least change their website or their outbound phone greeting so their customers know what's going on.
Amazing food, everything is made in house and fresh. Just wish they had a bigger store because this one gets packed fast with all their customers!
A wonderful little French cafe with a variety of meal options for eat in or take out made fresh every day. They also have great coffee. Staff are friendly and helpful. Prices are not cheap, but the quality lives up to the price tag.
A hidden gem.
Excellent French style café with great food! Croissants, breads, great pastries fine French Specialties as well as pâté, foie gras and saucisson. Too bad, they're often closed on Sundays. Great neighbourhood place that has tables to spend some time and lots of parking.
I would change my review to 5 stars if the owner would purchase some warm white candlabra LEDs for the beautiful chandelier. They are each $3.xx at ikea and last a lifetime. Cold white flickering LEDs absolutely killed the vibes for me. Otherwise it’s a great bakery very French. Very good croissants excellent cafe au lait. The quality of the milk is superior to most places in Toronto. The croissants are very buttery and almost perfectly flaky like in France. The volume is also exactly like you would get in France. I have reviewed many breakfast places in south of Côte d’Azur & Paris. This place comes very close given that it isn’t easy to source high fat European butter and quality fatty milk in Canada. The price is just okay. For 2 cappuccinos & 2 croissants it was 21.
Wow! The best chocolate and almond croissants in the world!
Why go to Starbucks when you can visit this exquisite patisserie? I had a breakfast sandwich and an Americano for the same price as Starbucks and the quality was a gazzilion times better. Lovely service. And all the products look amazing. I'm looking forward to returning to try other items on the menu.
Amazing croissants
Yummy and adorable
Excellent French fare. Great selection. Best croissant in Toronto.
Fine French take-out, amazing bread and pastries, you'll never try another place.
Authentic pattiseries Francais. Really! Baguettes, croissants, and prepared food, for breakfast, lunch or takeout.
Cannot comment on the food, the street ambiance is a far cry from a Parisian cafe, but if you like impossibly light and flaky croissants/pastries , this is probably one of the best you'll find in Toronto... Up there with Montreal or France 5 stars just for the pastry..
Charming and traditional. Great food!
Authentic french cafe experience. Pastries, breads, soups, mouth watering quiches, and of course, fresh coffees. Construct your own plate for the perfect meal. This morning I had fresh croissants, brie, lox, sliced tomatoes and lettuce with a latte...perfect
I'm a little surprised that people praise this place so highly, I really didn't find it that good. I went to check it out on a weekday afternoon and got an eggplant parmesan which was way too salty, followed by a fruit cobbler which was over sweet without being particularly flavorful. I took home 4 almond croissants since I figured that was more their bailiwick, and was disappointed to find them super dry and crumbly, not soft or buttery at all.... I really don't get why this pace is so popular, they were nice enough but I don't think I'll be back.
I've popped in twice while driving through the area. The food had been incredible both times.
A real taste of Paris
Ma Maison's croissants are so flaky and delicious. They are undoubtedly the closest we have found in Toronto to those which we enjoyed in Paris. The quiches are also excellent and pack a ton of flavour into each bite. Excited to go back and try more of the menu!
My 2nd visit on a Wednesday. last week the chicken and vegetable quiche was amazing! today I had average crab cakes but great coffee.
Quaint community cafe - friendly staff.
Although the hours are stated clearly on the listing indicating a 6pm closing on Wednesday, The weather prompted me to call Ma Maison in advance to make sure they were opened and had the item I was looking for. I told them I’d be there before they closed. I left work and arrived at the door 20 mins later at 5:35pm. They were closed. ????
Apparently a lot of people are impressed with this place. I do not share that impression. Absolutely atrocious customer service in my opinion. It took them 15 minutes to serve two clients. It seems like they did not know their merchandise very well, that they were not interested in serving the customers and overall gave off a very condescending, snobbish vibe. I tried them before with the same impression and after my second visit the impression was confirmed.
The food at Ma Maison is fantastic. The Quiche is a favourite along with the macaroons, and all the gluten free desserts. I have been to Paris and Chef Patrick's food is art.
Amazing products! Like stepping into a boulangerie in Paris. And very friendly and helpful staff. She took good care of me and my made my first experience a great one. Will definitely return!
They have the best chocolate almond croissants in my part of the city (Etobicoke South). Good coffee, great salads and breads. Lovely staff.
Great food and coffee but a bit more expensive than say Starbucks. Very French.
My first taste of their boeuf bourgignon was heaven. Serious talent and ingredient quality. Everything we got here was delicious. The meal, the quiche, the salad, and can’t wait to try the beautiful looking desserts which I’m sure are also excellent. Go here for amazing French food. Can’t think of a better place in Toronto.
Can't say it's the absolute best, but it is as close to a genuine french pastry as you can get. In fact, they go and beyond Parisian cafe standards. Only issue is the price. I hope that they continue their better practices, and don't fall into disarray as they expand locations across Etobicoke.
Unbelievable how far this store has fallen, once some of the tastiest croissants / pre-made food.. To now the quality of overpriced cafeteria food. Spent over $100 for food that was mostly thrown into the trash. They cannot even do a croissant (greasy, minimal layers w/ an oily taste) properly anymore.
My friend got food poisoned.
Beautiful, cozy, warm and it felt just like I was in France!!! The food is wonderful, fresh and delicious. I would highly recommend eating here!!!
A hidden treasure. Love their pastries.
Tiny little spot that isn't open for the full day but food is delish so worth it! If you like Pusateri's, Nadege or Daniel et Daniel, you'll like Ma Maison! Super friendly staff and great range of wonderful salads, soup, and other tasty French offerings. De-lish! Parking at back.
Superb quiche and bakery items.
Great french food , I like to.buy their frozen raw croissants to bake at home their Amazing!
Was pretty busy in the morning I visited. Croissants and quiches were damn good. Space for customers quite limited and one is expected to order quickly, though.
My wife and I used to come here religiously under the original ownership....when they were passionate about food. The food was impeccable, there was so much variety and the experience always had us coming back for more. Chef Patrick was true perfection. I remember dropping in for quiche Lorraine and those crab cakes. Wow! But then the quality started to deteriorate a little some 2-3 yrs ago (perhaps the owners got a little tired and wanted to sell). I noticed the croissants went from "spectacular" down to just "very good". The quiche seemed like it was 3/4 the size and the crust was a bit over-cooked/dry. The selection of prepared foods and quality also trended down a bit. Our 5 star experiece was down to a 4. Sure we went back again and again but the weekly experience became a monthly visit. Then came the change in ownership. It has deteriorated further. The dessert selection is a fraction of the original. The croissants are 2/3 the original size (while the hit to the wallet hasn't changed). The prepared foods seem like they've sat there for an extra couple of days. I have no desire for the quiche Lorraine which when I look at it, seems to be made 3 days prior. The bottom line is that its just gone down. Sure, the pay-no-tax promos are okay but there is one thing they miss here.....patrons will always pay $25 for something spectacular, rather than $18 for something that's just okay/good. I really do want Ma Maison to flourish, reminiscent of days gone by. I hope the current owners perhaps ping chef Patrick and solicit his advice/consultancy on what they need to do to bring it back to what it once was.
This place is fantastic! Service is great, food is fresh and so delicious! Love it. So glad I stopped to try it one random morning...
A treasure
Good local bakery. Croissants are better than Jules Cafe. Apple pastries and kouign amann are well done. Apple Turnover is better than what's served at Patisserie 27. Tarts aren't special, but are waaay better than the ubiquitous Dufflet. Much better at Patisserie 27 though. Brioche could be richer. Hopefully they make a baguette and give Drake Commissary some competition.
French style bakery with hot and cold food. To die for croissants. Delightful!
Simply the Best croissant outside of France
Love this place. Best desserts. Little pricey but worth it.
Great food
Prices are too high and they are not displayed. 5$ for an almond croissant really? The bakery is located in almost isolated area. It's not like it's in downtown. Also, The bakey could use some renovations.
The very best. Merci!
French style cafe - you’ll be greeted in French, but don’t feel compelled to keep it going if your French isn’t up to snuff. Great place for coffee and pastries. The food is good, but the menu is pretty limited so just go in with that mind. They also have a bunch of soup in jars that you can get to go.
Very impressed with the flavor of their foods. Will surely go back sometime soon.
Fresh authentic French bakery
The crissaunts are as close to the ones made in Paris as you will ever get. Delicious, flakey and very buttery flavoured. The Foie Gras was delicious as well. As genuine French food as you will get outside of France.
C'est tellement bon! I miss good French food. I find Toronto lacks. This place is a gem. Their croissant are some of the best I've ever had. Their house-made pâté, terrine, rillette are all amazing. I love their tartes aux Mirabelles. Their tourtière beats the homemade Noël tourtière we make at home. It's a little pricey but it's to die for! Did I mention you can ask to buy frozen croissants and bake them at home?? It's is a busy spot, but then again, where is not in Toronto when the food is that good? For those complaining about the price of bread, their baguettes are more reasonably priced that any ACE baguettes from the grocery store. Theirs are fresh and authentic unlike the thawed ACE ones. Also, COBB's charges about the same, if not more for bread and does not have the same quality. I love love love Ma Maison their food and continue to go as often as I can.
Great coffee, in house made pastries etc... Staff were very friendly. Nice interior, felt like I was in Paris. I would definitely recommend
Excellent French bakery/patisserie in the Kingsway. Many French people in line, which is a good indicator of quality! My favourite was the Almond croissant! But get up early, they will sell out! I snagged the last baguette at 10:30 AM on a Saturday!
It used to be GREAT, still worth a visit, but now it’s just OK, not great, just OK.
Delicious Quiche! Nice coffee. Good customer service!
The food is great and Ma Maison serves tasty treats. However, the customer service would need serious improvement. This could be done by sending some of the workers including the management to Sanremo Bakery for an internship on how to treat customers and employees alike to grow your business.
Traditional and very good savoury and sweet pastries
French bakery! Croissants are delicious!
A French patisserie preparing authentic Parisienne foods and amazing baked goods. Staff incredibly helpful and friendly. The fragrances of freshly prepared food whet the appetite.
Very tasty. Busy, but great ambience.
Always good
Great Poumd Chocolat, flaky croissants, and fantastic sandwiches and prepared foods. Looking forward to the Jane and Bloor location opening.
A great find in Etobicoke. I loved the plain croissant with cocoa that was not too sweet! My partner had warmed ham and cheese croissant and sandwich. Both tasted great. We will go back to try other food. Nov 2020: Open for pick up! I have tried bunch of them after my 1st review. Quiche, soup, dinner, cakes etc etc. All good. We chose their to go meal for our anniversary dinner since no indoor dining. But we don't mind eating home with this delicious food.
My go-to place for tuna nicoise. Lovely baked goods and delicious coffee. Great for takeout.
(Translated) Excellent french cakes (Original) Excellent gâteaux francais
The raisin danish are the best in the GTA!!!
excellent ????????????????
The best croissants I ever eat
Wow THE BEST meat pies (tourtiere) outside Quebec ????
Very good french pastry. Believe under new owner but still with historic quality
Absolutely fabulous food with reasonable prices. Very high quality product line with extremely pleasant staff. Excellent.
Best, most authentically French, Quiche Lorraine in the West end. Cafe is like visiting a tiny piece of Paris
If you’re looking for exotic unique treats Maison makes a wonderful hazelnut present, lemon tart, chocolate mouse and my favorite pistachio. The entrées change every day from Braised Ribs, Chicken penne in a rose sauce and gourmet pizzas on Fridays. With a variety of quiches made fresh every day!
Great services and food. Authentic French cuisine. warm and cozy atmosphere.
Best croissants in the city!!!
Place is too expensive for what you get now. The croissants have increased in price and the ones i got were half the size they used to be. I get prices are increasing, but to increase prices AND shrink the product size (by 50% in my case) . Kind of feels like i am screwed on both sides.
Authentic French foods, best baguette in town. Friendly service.
Great place
Best Croissants ive ever had!! But pretty pricey....i guess you get what you pay for. Pretty neat that they offer to buy from frozen so you can bake them fresh at home.
authentic french experience, including staff from france, and legit french food offerings. Some things are a bit pricy but they make EVERYTHING themselves, which they don't really mention but ought to... insane. and quite rare in this city.
Excellent food and service
Originally from Montreal, I was visiting Toronto for business with my French colleague. We stopped at this little French bakery to have a coffee and work. To our surprise, there was a wide variety of pastries, sandwiches, salads and gourmets ready-to-eat and take out. We found the service to be courteous, smiling and very polite. The croissants were fresh and the coffee was good, compared to what can be found in large chains! We bought some food to take away, including sandwiches, a black forest cake and foie gras! I can tell you that the Black Forest cake was clearly well prepared, the aroma of alcohol was attractive and the foie gras offered tasty flavor and was very smooth! Ma Maison was a beautiful discovery in the big city of Toronto! A beautiful experience to re-make!
Disappointing and overpriced. To the reviewer who thinks that good food should be very expensive so that it doesn't taste like mud - please continue to give these people your money. The staff was certainly very nice and I'm glad to know you'll keep them employed.
I used to come to this place 2-3x a week! But since the management change and all... quality is going down, the overall experience... and it's becoming a "Buffet on Dundas"! Hire staff that understand customer service not only can speak French! And finally get rid of that "attitude" french countryside girl, mood killer. So many people don't like her just experiencing it by watching while standing in the line. Lived in France, love the food, but maybe do less and higher quality... Pizza really? Greek Salad? Moroccan food? And your eclair (a la paris brest) - not fresh, tasteless, over-sweeten Patisserie - mostly not fresh and disappointing.
Service was terrible. To be fair it was lunchtime. Server we had was obviously new.
Not sure what happened, the quality of the croissants is not the same anymore. Update: chocolate almond croissant quality has been greatly improved!
Great French bakery with tons of food options. Good for take out or baked goods. Espressos, lattes and cappucinos are good as well. The baked goods are delicious and always fresh. Staff is always talking french which makes it a great experience. Feels as if you went to Quebec city.
Very small, very busy. Soup was Ok, but not hot enough
Truly a great French cafe. The food is simply amazing, the staff is very friendly, parking is available in the back. Somewhat limited seating inside, so it gets full quickly.
So glad to have a local, authentic boulangerie. The front of house server is always super polite and sweet. They make excellent sandwiches, croissants and cakes!
One of the best of several excellent Etobicoke bakeries. Real croissant and quiche expertise here. I look forward to any driving route that pulls me past this gem of a bakery.
Used to be good, almond croissants are not even fresh, probably a few days old, same for cakes. Not worth it no more. Baguette used to be great, now it's dry and hard. Supermarkets have better baguettes. Found out it's New owners, makes sense now.
The croissants here are wonderful, really wonderful!
It's not cheap but it wont disappoint.
We just discover Ma Maison on Bloor for brunch and we just passed by this Ma Maison on Dundas. Lovely and cute cozy place! Same design but smaller. But Staffs again are so polite and speak French. Croissants and cakes are delicious ! We got beef bourguignon and coq au vin for take home. Can not wait to try! We will come back and try more!
The real deal.... Must try their butter croissants
Some people have issues spending money. If it is about money then go to Tim Horton’s and purchase your alleged coffee and donuts, which if you are really concerned about spending money you would go elsewhere, spending that kind of money for mud and then some coloured flour and sugar, what of waste of time, money, effort, and calories. If you are looking for the real French food and pastry, then this is the place. Great food all around, the chocolate-almond croissants are amazing, in fact all the croissants are amazing. Not some dough rolled with fat that sticks in your mouth, no these are made with butter that melt in your mouth, not to mention that they are golden brown, these are croissants, the kind you would find in any real Patisserie, which is few and far-between these days, one of the best Pâtisseries in Ontario by far. If you want real food, that tastes and looks like real food then this little Pâtisserie is one of the best.
(Translated) Wow what a bakery and pastry shop! I have just settled in Toronto, I come from Montreal. I wanted to look for a small place that has good breads, pastries and especially good croissants how in Montreal or in France. Their baguettes and croissants are delicious! The taste of butter is in the mouth! They have many varieties for salad and hot meals as well as soups. Everything is ready, you only need to heat up at home. The service is a bit to work, but I do not really complain since it is a small bakery / pastry / +++ varieties. Pardonable! Some prominent girls speak French, which is really SUPER! Authentic french bakery! Parking behind (several) or forward (2 or 3). I also tried their Pizza Friday, SUPER GOOD! I think it is the best pizza I have ever eaten since I have been here. Very healthy as ingredients, the taste of tomato sauce, cheese, olive oil, etc. Go try it! In any case, great beautiful place! I will go every week for a little quiet coffee in the morning with a croissant. What better! A PLACE TO RECOMMEND FRIENDS :) Super nice place to visit.
Amazing tucked away French cafe. Small friendly and amazing french cafe food. Love that you can buy home made food to take home
Just ate 8 inches of a sandwich sliced off of a 3+ footer they made. INCREDIBLE. Their takeout seafood chowder, macaroni and cheese and of course croissants are fantastic. makes a trip to etobicoke worth it.
Price: The pastries were overpriced for their quality. The apple tart could easily be replicated and the pear/peach tart left much to be desired. Hygiene: When we stepped in we noticed bees flying around inside including some dead bees as well. What we noticed too late (after making payment) were the flies hovering near the uncovered croissants and other baked goods. You can understand why hygiene was perhaps questionable.
Great tourtiere!
Very good but over priced
(Translated) Apart from the saleswomen who speak French, there is nothing French in this curious business, whose bosses remain invisible (according to the staff, they do not speak French) and do not even respond to requests for quotes! The French Flag on the pediment is only a decoy when French know-how is non-existent. To avoid. A éviter.
This place is a little jam. I love everything about it. The pastries are to die for. Cappuccino is pretty good too.
Great croissants and jams!
The Quiches are absolute tops
Find it to be to expensive for what it is. It's okay but not worth some of their prices. And they have some ppl in there that dont know the prices of their pies. If you are working the cash you should know the prices of your products.
An authentic French Café experience. The staff are extremely friendly and their foods are very fresh and flavourful.
The staff was great but the pastries - almond croissant and kouign amann - were very very stale! Shocking especially since it was a busy Saturday! Also, there were trays of premade croque monsieur sitting on display! It looked so unappealing.
How does this place managed to stay in business? As a frequent and long time patron of Ma Maison, there have been numerous times when I go mid-morning and there will be no bread available or your told to come back in an hour. This establishment has not been the same since Chef Patrick retired. My most recent visit (which prompted me to write this review) was on Father's Day when at 9:45 am (they opened at 9). There was a very long line of customers and many were disappointed because there were not enough baked goods available. Many left and others had to chose from the meager selection. Why open on a Sunday morning if you are not prepared to have goods to sell?
The food is good but I find the staff unfriendly. I visited Ma Maison again recently and was so happy that the staff changed. The people I dealt with were friendly, professional and polite. The entire experience is now pleasant and the food delicious. I would recommend.
This place has very good cakes and pastries that are not easily found in Toronto, that's on the positive. On the negative though as a cafe this place is horrible. There is never enough space to sit, people are on top of each other, it's impossible to get a table and if you do then good luck getting in to sit down (tables are on top of each other). After you actually sit down and spend there a few minutes you end up smelling like food , you have to wash my hair to get rid of that smell. Coffee is bitter and is not done the way you ask them to make it. So it's better to just get in, get your cake and leave as fast as possible.
Yummy food and nice atmosphere! However super super pricey and can be limited selection depending on what time of the day you come. Also hours are limited so hard to stop for people working full time.
Classic French casseroles cooked with bones for flavour. Beautiful pastries. Rare Roast beef for deli meat or self-improve into main dish
Yummy pastries and cakes if you are out in Etobicoke!
Poor customer service - Waited in line to be served by one of the 2 girls serving customers. When the one girl was freed up and I was the last customer in line, she began helping the other girl to serve the person in front of me. Why does it take 2 people to serve one person ??? I walked out a dissatisfied customer. And as an extra, there was a bad smell coming from the open basement door. Smelled like strong pesticide.
I didn't expect that, the taste is very good
Excellent product for quality and taste though ask for prices
Amazing coffee, baked goods and authentic French food.
Team changed, not the same place anymore.
I absolutely love the chocolate eclairs.
The French-speaking staff member counted the money and did not use gloves to get the croissants. And when I asked for my receipt she did it unwillingly. When she finished writing the receipt, she threw it on the table and turned her back, mumbling.
love their frozen bread.
Authentically French :) Cozy, warm ambience. Everyone who works there from the front counter to the chefs and kitchen staff are the loveliest people. This place is very busy on a daily basis, but the staff always acknowledge your presence warmly and serve you with friendliness and kindness. If you have not already, you MUST try the pizza. You can taste the purity of the ingredients! Everything is fresh on the pizza. They only have it on Fridays, but you are missing out if you have not tried the pizza!! Thank you Ma Maison for being who you are, doing what you do, keeping the French traditions alive, and serving fresh, delicious food. I appreciate you :)
