I frequently go to Saltchuck on my lunch breaks. Pies are absolutely delicious, reasonably priced, and enough for me for lunch - although I have a coworker who frequently orders two each time. I don't usually dine there, but the atmosphere has a really bright antique feeling.

Great pie crust! Love the meat pies. Yet to try the fruit pies. I go with the stuff I think is the most basic of meat pies: steak and mushroom, chicken pot pie, etc. Got a lamb curry pie and it was pretty good, but the steak and mushroom is way better to me (and cheaper!) Expect to pay $20-27 for a frozen pie to take home or 7-10 for a small pie in store. They have a coffee bar and drinks too!

This place came very highly reviewed but my chicken pot pie tasted somewhat metallic (from the pie plate) and way too much oregano. The steak pie also was heavy handed on rosemary. The crusts were delicious but overall, this place wasn't as good as I had hoped.

Perfectly executed savory pies! I tried the creamy herb mushroom, steak & ale, and chicken pot pies. All had perfectly flaky, buttery crusts with fillings hot all the way through (would be an easy pitfall with pies stuffed this full). Great flavors. Quick, friendly service. I'd definitely like to come back to try some of the sweet offerings.

Went here yesterday for the first time heard a lot about it and I’ve always fancied a meat ???? pie; there’s one in Coombs which is my fave but this place is also amazing! Nice clean tidy shop, great selection of meat pies. Kinda pricey but you get what you pay for and they are amazingly delicious pies. I had the beef and bacon and it was yummy! The pasty they pies come in is nice and flakey golden baked and just fantastic. Good staff good vibes from the service. Can’t wait to try other varieties of pies. Loved it A+

One of my favourite things to get here are the breakfast pies! I love the service and the ambience. A breath of fresh (pastry) air in an industrial area. I bring all of my visiting friends and family here. Be sure to eat in and to take pies home for later consumption. Also, take a second to check out the old photographs on the walls. Very cool!

Delightful variety of savory and sweet pies for omnivores and vegetarians alike. Very friendly and helpful service. Super cute and chill dining area. There's 2hr parking abutting the building and along Bay St. There is currently construction on the bridge which backs up on the street a little.

Cozy spot for some delicious pie!!! We had both savoury and sweet pies and thoroughly enjoyed all the flavours! I personally found the savoury pies to be lacking a little bit of salt, and thought the sweet pies could have been sweeter and more punchy with the flavours! For the second time in about six months, today we were treated somewhat dismissively by the sales assistant. Not the same sales assistant as last time. It's not disrespect as such, just not the cordial service we receive in most other establishments. You're working in a pie shop not Tiffany's so maybe you should get off your high horse. The pies as usual were great although the beef and mushroom had too much garlic for my taste. Could do better.

Delicious treats at a reasonable price. The sausage rolls has the perfect bite and moisture, not too dry. The fruit pies are amazing. My boyfriend says that of all the pies he's tried that's close to topping is his tia Marta's apple pie ???? in Chile. The decor inside the shop is very cute for a date dine in. I am absolutely in love being fed and feeding different flavors. Will have to make this as a special treat place.

I purchased 1small lamb shepard's pie and 1 small chicken pie for dinner. The cooking instructions were great. Both pies were delicious. The larger pies were a bit pricey. The quality of the pies are top rated.

Small pies for high price. None too savory. The look is good, but that's not enough if the pies suck. I'm giving a three star because I feel the place has the potential for something great. But three times I've eaten pies here and other items and have been very saddened by the quality, size, and price of the pies. Perhaps they need way less staff and more concentration on the product itself. There are many competitors in Victoria offering a much better product. I hope you guys step up your game, because I love the atmosphere, the location and the style. What's missing is the main ingredient!

Wow, 10/10 pies here! I've driven past this place for years and have heard great things but finally stopped in this weekend and it sure lived up to the reputation. First of all, incredible selection of ready to eat and take home pies - both sweet and savoury, with THE flakiest crusts. Also a good selection of tarts and other bakery/deli items (salads, muffins, sausage rolls, etc.) Knowledgeable and friendly staff as we had an allergy in our party that needed to be verified. Pies are good.. but the size is VERY small. Pies should be half the price they are for what you get. I also bought some frozen Mac and cheese, followed the instructions, and it was still frozen in the middle after a hour and half. Mac and cheese isn’t the greatest.

This is one of my new favorite stops for all things pastry. Flaky and tender pastry with flavorful fillings. The stars of the show is really the savory items. I'm a big sausage roll fan and the spicy beef is a real winner. The other meat pies especially the steak really standout. These are not your deli counter savory items they are on a completely different level. They have a few sweet items as well and those aren't any slouches either.

Great place for lunch! They had salad options, a soup option, and of course many savoury and sweet pie options. You can get the pies etc. to go or to eat in. The staff were friendly and patient while I figured out which pie I wanted, and the overall feel of the place was nice :) My only critique is that it might be a bit more expensive than I'd like for the portion sizes. I wasn't too mad about it though because I left feeling pretty full/good after a side salad and pie.

A happy accident We stopped in to grab something for supper, so we started with the frozen pies - lots of good selections (we grabbed a chicken pot pie for MIL), but the fresh pie flavours were more appealing. I ordered a beef and bacon and my wife ordered the beef and mushroom. We asked for one of the espresso sandwich cookies (like a moonpie, and they were happy to cut it in half for us to share) - and then for one of each of the pecan and raisin tarts. Price came to more than i was expecting, but didn't think much about it. Got out to the truck to dive into the espresso cookie to find we had two fruit pies instead of the tarts, which explains the higher price. Beef 'n bacon: delicious! Beef 'n mushroom: also delicious Peach-something (Maybe mango?) - delicious! Blueberry-something - ohmygodamazing Chicken Pot Pie - very good, even though it was gluten free (didn't notice the GF until we got home, but it was fantastic, too) Will definitely return when i'm in the area. Flaky crusts, meaty fillings, and so much wholesome flavour.

This is an amazing place, although fairly pricey. I was looking for something cheap and I was able to get a beef pie and salad for $10.50, which was a delicious light lunch. Other menu items would be more expensive. You get what you pay for though: it was delicious and made from scratch. The atmosphere was very retro and trendy - very much to my taste. I liked the music and picked up on a few indie bands I wasn't aware of thanks to their selections.

Seriously good pies. I love how they have classic fillings as well as some more playful ones. Their smaller pies are also the perfect solo lunch to grab on the go. Seriously impressed by their crust - always perfectly baked, fluffy and airy with that perfect crust. 10/10 would eat daily.

Delicious, filling pies! Recommended several times. I enjoy how the menu often changes around and tries new combinations. I do find the pies to be generally seem a little high in salt. Not off-putting, but noticeable. May prevent me from coming by quite as often as I might otherwise! :)

I ordered two of their packages during peak COVID. Good value and hope they keep the multipacks in the future or as a normal option. Second package had fresh pies because they were out of frozen but they advised on how to freeze if that’s what we wanted. The bonus cookie was fantastic. An issue with the order was resolved right away and the owner included two sausage rolls as well. Even their seed filled cookie was fantastic. Love me some good Aussie pies.

We had been so excited to try this shop out and the selection was extremely limited. We had arrived early afternoon so maybe its a first come first serve, the options for pot pie was intriguing but not worth the price as the filling is light at a rather unreasonable cost for what you are getting. The shop front is cute and they have a few shop items available to buy.

Finally a place that understands the classic chip shop meat pie. The pies are perfectly produced and range from your traditional steak pie to more modern flavour combinations. Friendly service and warm environment. The cafe is cute and the perfect place to enjoy your pie if you can’t wait to get it home.

So i would of given a 2 stars but the pastry was very good but the filling of the pies were very average for the price being australian i was hoping to find a pie place to fill the void of our great pie's back in australia. The filling of the beef and cheese was honestly ok like i would buy it for 4 dollars and at a service station. And it would taste the exact same the mushroom and steak was a little better. But not up to bakery standard at all. The pastry was very good no complaints.

Got a BBQ pulled pork pie after a solid 5 mind of solid starring at all the delicious options. Hands down the best pie I have ever had.
