The best thing I can say about this place is the good atmosphere. The free-use jukebox and homely environment is nice. That being said, the food here is old and dried out, neither myself, nor my friends could finish their orders. It lacks flavor that they try to replace with sugar and icing. The whipped cream on top of my chai cheese cake was so dried out that I could lift it off in one piece, and when tapping it to my plate, I was rewarded with the delicious noise of a solid thunk. Instead of a soft, creamy whipped cream, they have a dried out dollop of old topping. For the most part the staff is friendly, barring one member that, when I asked a simple question regarding portion sizing, she let out a huge sigh, turned her back on me, and when she returned, she began to complain about how people had been asking her questions her entire shift. As though it is'nt her job. All in all, its a nice place to look at, and the drinks are good. But the staff need better training in customer service, and the food definitely needs to be looked at. I will not be returning for some time.

Solid 4.5 stars. This type of place is the best for group eating. Prepared meals means they may not be the freshest ever, but the variety available (and at really reasonable prices) made it easy to order for a crowd. Free jukebox is a fun perk. Food was all really good, but not exceptional.

Went here once and was very disappointed. All the food was microwaved and looked like it came in frozen from somewhere else. Ordered a breakfast burrito that was 80% chunks of potato with one terrible bite of grizzly bacon. No service, no atmosphere and stinky bathrooms.

The have a really good selection of cakes and beverages. The staff is also very nice. The cake slices are very large as you can see in the photo – I could not finish that cake with a friend. I also got a vanilla milkshake and I really do not recommend it. It tasted like just cold iced milk. It was like $5 and I threw it out. The cake was not the best I had but it was good, and it was a very good price for the size. The place is cute, and it is in Chinatown in Victoria so if it’s your first time here go to Fantan alley. It is only like a 5-minute walk, if that. My friend got fries and a carrot cake and both of those were very good. The fries come with a chipotle mayo sauce and ketchup. She also really did not like the milkshake. However, the other flavours might be better. They had chocolate and strawberry. The place was not that well decorated, but it was cozy. I would probably come back again if I lived in Victoria but I doubt I will be back soon. I would give it a try if it’s my first time.

I legitimately eat here at least three times a week. Prices are really hard to beat, and you have a great view of the gates to Canada's oldest Chinatown. There is something for everyone here, including Vegan + Gluten-Free options. You and your kids will love the variety of cheesecake flavours, and any of the other delicious desserts they have.

At first I was excited to come, the food and drinks are good and tasty. What I felt worried about is the fact that when the guy was preparing my milk shake, he let the milk bottle open on the counter for a while (what about flies?), Also the water bowl where they "clean" the spoon to serve coffee looked like it contained mix of different coffees instead of water to clean the spoons.

Love, love, love QV Bakery! They're open later than traditional bakeries which is so useful for evening cravings. The food is very high quality for wonderfully reasonable prices - a rarity in Victoria. The jukebox adds a great diner feel, and if you're up for a challenge you should try their Mt. Everest cake, it's a foot tall!

The food had a funny taste to it (as my sister would say "like the refrigerator"). And I didn't like the taste of the London Fog because they used a certain type of tea I have no taste for because its bland. Again the funny taste ruined it for the other food items like the pie. Of course other people may have had a different, maybe even a better experience than I, and my dear sister. So I think I would rather go somewhere else.

Loved the place ! Reached around their closing time n had the spicy cranberry cheesecake . Was a nice experiment . Loved the set up and the menu . Interestingly they've got a really good breakfast and lunch/dinner menu and at reasonable price . Sad I didn't get to know ab9ut the place earlier but I'm glad I did come across it before I left Victoria ! Definitely recommend for their dessert . As for breakfast - I'll let you'll know tmr ???? . Posting from the next day . Hearty breakfast for $10 ! So went in again and the cheesecakes are to die for . Had the mango lychee cheesecake n it was amazing . The Mexican spicy chicken with rice and salad was pretty good too . All in all highly recommended if you're a dessert person + looking for good quality and quantity food at reasonable prices and a really chill setting cafe

Went to QV after having a lack luster dinner at the canoe club....i am sitting on my couch with a tall glass of milk crushing one of the best and largest peices of chocolate cake I have ever had. Soooo dam good...I used to work in the night club industry downtown and after shift we would hit QV for lasagna and a dessert. qV always kicked ass great price and killer food. I was not aware that it was new owners but from what i was told it is the same baker same recipe. Not sure if that is correct but let me tell you THIS CHOCOLATE CAKE IS MENTAL. HUGE ,MOIST ,NOT TO SWEET AND VERY RICH. I big time say try the baked goods. Service was normal . closes earlier then I remember but I will most certainly be back for more cake. Thanks QV baker for kickin ass....

I have been going to QV’s for years and have enjoyed the food up “until” the new owners have taken over. I just endured horrifyingly BAD Service so we just walked out to save our selves a painfully long wait. I’m pretty sure there where just 2 people on staff, 1 cook and 1 server. We must have waited to order at the front counter for over 15 minutes and were not greeted or acknowledged at all and It didn’t seem like it was going to happen anytime soon either and on top of that the the Cafe was not even that busy maybe 4 tables. Absolutely maddening. So we just left. “ Hire more staff “ and up the customer service, At least acknowledge your customers and let us know you’ll be right with us. Thanks for nothing!

If the only merit of a restaurant was the food, I'd consider five stars.. BUT when the staff say they will bring out your order and you have to remind them not once, but twice that you're waiting on your meal, it's poor service. And let me tell you how embarrassing it is for EVERY customer to ask how the lock works on the washroom; fix your damn lock. Spanish pie was spicy good, lasagna was delicious and apple pie was great. Based on poor performers like this, I'm not inclined to tip at the counter, and reserve my judgement until I finish my meal. Gratuities should be earned, not a de facto assumption!

Their forbidden fruit cheesecake is to die for! Very creamy yet not too sweet. The presentation is very simple and beautiful as well. The cafe is very spacious and they have free secured wifi (password is at the back of cash register). Everything else looked so good and very tempting to get. Just on the edge of Victoria's China town. QV has great food, super prices, excellent hours, and to top it off great staff. If you are looking for a fancy restaurant than this may not be for you, but if you are looking for a friendly casual atmosphere this is the place for you. I love that they have a spot where they have jugs of water and cups no cost, help yourself. The sive of their desserts are shocking! They use real cream in their whipped cream, they have a large tower cake I wanted to try a piece but needed a couple more people to share it with me. Their food is worth stopping by if you are in Victoria!

It's big enough to make 2 cups of coffee with 1 cake. A cafe that has been around for more than 20 years, with locals often drinking coffee and looking at newspapers. In the past I have enjoyed the late night food and desserts. I decided to try the breakfast on this occasion. Poached eggs should never be prepared in the microwave; slimy uncooked parts combined with extremely over cooked yolks. The rest was cold. The service was abrupt, unfriendly, and uncaring. No one asked me if my food was ok and I gave up trying to find salt and pepper. The coffee was also cold. The young woman called me hun. I am a mature woman. Girls should never call an older woman hun! Very inappropriate and comes off as being condescending. Won't eat there again. Next time I will take a few extra minutes to look for a real restaurant.

I work nearby the cafe, and tend to order (the same order) at least twice a week, often more. While I usually love the hot dogs, every weekend for the past month my order has arrived incomplete or under cooked. Often, I only receive a half order of fries with my meal and served upon a soggy bun. Today took the cake. I received a half order of undercooked fries, most of them looking like they had only been defrosted in a microwave before being served. I am disappointed and disgusted. Word to the Wise: Don't go to QV's on the weekend. They're always rushed, lazy, and prone to extra poor quality.

Cute little shop put into a remodeled auto shop, friendly staff and great location. Delicious desserts, salads and similar items. I would suggest the 'Everest Cake' or any of their pies and cheesecakes. Their hot food is lack luster; they use frozen premade food items and sell it as "fresh" (ex. their fries are all frozen store bought)

I took a weekend trip to Victoria with my family and decided to show them QV's as it was one of my favorite joints to hang out at when I used to live on the island. I was so excited for them to try some awesome drinks and some tasty baked goods. We were not greeted; after finally receiving poor service, the Barista continuously rolled her eyes at us as we made our order. All of our coffees we delivered lukewarm and the whole experience left a bad taste in our mouths. I was embarrassed to bring my family here and I will never return. My original, warm and sentimental memories to this joint have dissipated after this experience. If you're the owner or manager and you're reading this, I highly suggest you check over your staff, because they are hurting your business.

Weekly board game meetup on Monday's for years. Owners changed recently and had it licensed which was nice; but the French Fry quality fell sharply - used to be some of the best in the city, now they are mediocre at best. Good desserts still.

I ordered chocolate cupcake and nanimo cake but with both disappointed !! They were as hard as rock and were hard to eat rather to cut. Also in chocolate cup cake there white things which from my perspective as a former baker, it was yeast!!! God knows how long they were there. I am not local to Victoria but if i come back I won’t go there and don’t recommend this place to anyone.

However the only problem is they don't have a power oven so all foods are heated up via microwave completely altering the taste and texture and being unnaturally hot. I had the most HORRIBLE experience at this cafe this weekend. I walked in to order an eggs benny on Sunday morning. They had no problem taking my money after ordering. However, when asked if it was "to-stay or to-go", I kindly responded that I will sit outside and eat. I was then asked for my vaccination proof, which I do not have. Long story short, I took my meal to-go. When my meal was finally ready (30 minutes later), a staff member who appeared to be from a minority group came and gave me my order, except instead of bringing it to me, he put the meal 2 tables away from me and rudely shouted "heres your order" then walked away in a huff. He seemed to not want to go near me because I didn't have proof of vaccination, as if I was carrying some horrible disease. This server was a cross-dressing or transgendered male. I was appalled to see someone who has been marginalized and shunned by society, and has likely experienced systemic discrimination themselves, to be treating me the same way. I felt very disgusted with him if I'm being quite honest. I am a human being, and should be treated like one. I am also a healthcare worker, and I treat all my patients with the same amount of compassion, no matter their colour, political stance, religion, sexual orientation, etc. Oh, and the eggs benny sucked, it came out cold, and the bread had become soggy by the time I got it.

I am always amazed this place isn't busy. It is in a great location with warm staff and home made good food but never busy. Best place for cheese cake and desserts downtown. Perfect for an after dinner treat with a date. My only complaint is that they use a microwave to heat up food.

Wow! We came here for birthday dessert and were blown away! They have giant portions and home made yumminess. We had chocolate peanut butter cheesecake, a very large piece of cake brownie like chocolate cake that was amazing, coffee whipped cream pie and a cupcake the size of a softball! All of it was delish. They also had food in the case next door that made me think of mom. Mac and cheese huge Sammy’s and also some perfect looking calzone. Lunch anyone?

It's a very cozy, but roomy little bakery, but it almost has a more deli-like feel to it. They have other types of foods, salads, pastas etc. as well as cakes and pastries. Their cakes are AMAZING and some of the best I've ever had. I highly recommend their cakes, no matter which flavor (peanut butter was great though). I've never been disappointed. There's even a jukebox in the corner (that works!) to give a fun feel to the place. I've been there several times with my friends and it always makes me happy when I'm able to stop in.

Dessert and coffee are great. The regular food is not good. You don't microwave sausage rolls, spanokapita, or a calzone. Please reheat these items in an oven or toaster oven. The salad and half sandwich was not even edible, the lettuce was rusty, tomatoes were soggy and the tuna in the sandwich smelled bad. We brought guests from out of town here, so we're disappointed.

Stumbled across this place while intending to check out another breakfast place and we are so glad we did. The patio is gorgeous. The food was unbelievable and so cheap. 6.95 for a full breakfast plate; pancakes, eggs, bacon/sausage, and hashbrowns. They also had a huge case of desserts; cheesecakes, pastries, cookies, etc. Lunch options looked great too. Their coffee was delicious. Highly recommend this lovely little cafe.

If you don't mind the "we are still in the 50s, everything is old but at least it's kinda clean" theme, then this is a good place. We had a pleasant experience in a warm summer afternoon. They guys at the front counter are friendly and well service oriented. My kids had chocolate milkshakes, they were tasty and creamy; I enjoyed a frozen mocha which had a strong flavour. The only item we did not like much was the Irish cream frozen. We also recommend peanut butter cookies and cinnamon buns.

A great place for a quick meal. I just had their chicken and bacon Calzone and it was fantastic and filled me right up. The reason for 3 stars only is the smoothy machine that is so loud. Perhaps it should be moved into the kitchen so it does not rattle the customers brains and interfere with their ability to carry on a conversation. The other issue I had is the locked bathrooms. You have to ask the severs for the key that is attached to a bucket lid....this really grossed me out and they lost my return business. Makes me wonder if this is a direct violation of the CRD health code to have servers touching this....maybe there is a better way to keep the doors locked with an electric button the staff can push? On top if this the bathroom was dirty with black mold around the base of the toilet and graffiti etched into the mirror.

Nice atmosphere and never busy. It was once a gas station and the old roll up doors are still there giving you a nice view of the gate into Chinatown across the street. There's a jukebox that plays random songs all morning. Patsy Cline seems appropriate here. I've been there at different times of day and the best meal is breakfast. ThIS has historically been a good restaurant for VALUE , FOOD QUALITY AND GREAT PATIO ( WHICH HAS BEEN IMPROVED SINCE LAST SUMMER). So what is the problem.? On July 3, I ordered a turkey breast on multi grain with a bowl of clam chowder. Excellent weather and an OK price at $ 12. However, the soup was atrocious with cubed ,half cooked potato and not a vestige of clam to be found!! It was a cane product and tasteless besides being only tepid. Someone screwed up ( the chef??), the owner / manager ( who condoned this offering??). Not sure but someone needs to practice some quality control asap. Haven't been in for a while but we popped in yesterday for a coffee and a cheese cake and it was just as good as we remembered. Also, they must have painted or something because the place looks great! Keep up the good work!

We stopped in on a Saturday morning for breakfast. Had the Eggs Benny and Classic breakfast. Large portions and food was hot. Display cases have lots of to go bakery options that look very tasty. The plastic knives and forks - very very flimsy - were our only disappointment. Americano coffee and Assam tea were enjoyable. Friendly staff wearing masks and tables spaced for COVID.

Food is really good, atmosphere is Victoria-eclectic, but that was to be expected! Haven't eaten here since my last visit 6 years ago, food was still excellent and dependable...got my fix in and had the vegetarian lasagna. Still the best veggie lasagna out there!

Great place if you are looking for a lot of dessert selection! Also a very good patio for people (and bird) watching as it is in the heart of china town. Not super fancy though if you are looking for that.

Quantity not quality. The breakfast was a really good price for the amount that I received. It wasn't very good though... Not terrible, just undercooked potatoes and overcooked sausages with no seasoning at all. None of the tables were wiped down and it wasn't busy enough for that to make sense. If you're in a tight budget this is an okay option and it is nice to have a patio meal during the summer.
