We finally had a chance to try out La Roux. It's located within Chinatown in Victoria. The texture and taste of the canele was fantastic but the inside was a tad too moist. The bread pudding was delicious. If you are tourist and order takeout, make sure you have a microwave to reheat the sauce at the hotel room (which we had). The croissant was great too.

Very impressed by La Roux Pastisserie's offerings. Both the bread pudding and profiterole we ordered were excellent. Coffee is just ok, but coffee is not what they specialized in.

This patisserie on the edge of Chinatown is a desserts-only affair with lovely, whitewashed and mirror-filled seating area and a smaller selection of French-inspired sweets than what is available on their website; it's at once chic and not overly pretentious (I'm not sure if you could ever take that maker of emoji macarons too seriously...), though they're generally more expensive than the other bakeries I visited on my trip. Many items, such as their croissants, lemon tarts, eclairs, are classic French recipes, while others are fancier takes on homestyle baking like brownies, cookies, etc. That almond French toast... -- "Mimi's Cake Tour"

Espresso pistachio tart! So far my favourite dessert from here. The crunch of the tart part makes it perfect and the combination of pistachio flavour and the hint of coffee is just amazing! Absolutely recommend this one whenever you see they serve it lol

A cozy french coffee spot with amazing desserts. It's a busy place, so a line up might be in order. We had a delicious passion fruit with chocolate crust. It was filled with passion fruit cream. It was fantastic. I highly recommend this place for a nice treat and some delicious tea or coffee.

What a heavenly little spot! The staff were beautiful, gracious, kind & welcoming towards my friend and I when we visited yesterday afternoon. Our desserts and drinks were delicious and I loved the interior design of the space, it made a rainy day feel so cozy and intimate. I genuinely appreciated how the staff personally thanked my dear friend for her contributions as a frontline worker in our local community by surprising her with a personalized ‘Thank You’ macaroon when they brought our sweet treats and drinks to our table. (I'm french, born and raised) Had a pain au chocolat and a Paris-Brest. The first one was definitely tasting like a good one in a good bakery in France. The second one is a little bit different from the traditional one, but the mix of the two fillings made it taste very much like the ones I used to eat a lot during my childhood! I first came here on a food tour where I got to try a couple macarons and hear the owner's story of how she got into this business. The macarons were so delicious that I immediately returned after the tour to have some tea and a couple more desserts. I know you guys have so many great reviews but I just wanted to say thank you for such a lovely experience ordering from here. The staff took my order the Friday before Valentine's Day over the phone as they were closing, allowed me to pay the following day, and accommodated filling and delivering my order for that same weekend, despite the incredibly short notice. Their delivery policy is free delivery with a $25 purchase (location-dependent, obviously), which was so incredibly reasonable. They worked with me to find a delivery time that would suit me best, and communicated with me the day of delivery to make sure that someone would be there when they arrived before dropping off the treats. I ordered 4 pastries to my aunts house as a birthday surprise, and they were all GORGEOUS and beautiful. She highly recommended the Passionfruit Chocolate Tarte and the Paris Brest. Thank you again to everyone at La Roux for helping me make my aunt's birthday special, even in COVID times!!

I have ordered a cake 2 days before my boyfriend’s birthday and wanted to give him a surprise. I ordered a birthday cake on phone and informed them I would like two macarons on the top with some simple but nice, creative design for a mature gentalman around 30 years old, for his birthday celebration. And this is what I received. I just can not understand why a really nice reviewed pastry shop can sell this birthday cake to their customer. Even they themselves probably feel it is not a nice presented cake. Even the macaron on the top was not clean, with some chocolate sauce. Every customer should be respected and nice treated. If you don’t like it, why you think your customer should like it. No one called or confirmed with me if I am okay with the design even I preordered on Sunday for Tuesday’s pick up. The taste of the cake is not bad, this is why I listened to others’ recommendation and choose this pastry shop for my boyfriend’s birthday cake. Their customer service was also nice, both in person or on phone. I, myself am a customer service professional and I appreciate their nice service. But I really can not accept that they sell this product to their customers. This is a warning for everyone, please make sure you deliver all the message to this shop about what do you want for a birthday cake. Otherwise you might feel very disappointed when you receive what they make for you by their assumptions.

The window display has lots of delicious looking pastries. The Crème Brûlée is delicious but the multiple staff I encountered were rude and provided poor customer service. For that reason alone, I wouldn’t return to this bakery because I felt very unwelcomed, there are many more exceptional bakeries in the area!

We just tried this place twice in a week. We used to go to the usual familiar places in Victoria, and the customer service was always a bit disappointing. The staff at La Roux have been amazing, we also sat outside once and the owner or manager came to say hello to us and to our son. That was super nice. The pastries are the best in Victoria. The almond croissant is to die for. If you like almonds, the financier is so good. It will change your life :) Simply the best, customer service with a smile always, and this place is special. Will be back and promoting it to our friends, family and workplace!

Loved the vintage meets modern chic decor, including the cute teapots! Their macrons looked amazing, but did not get a chance to try them so will have to return!

We came here on the "Taste of Victoria Tour" and we were amazed at how delicious the pastries were. We had to go back on our way out of Victoria to pick up gifts for family back home. It has some great atmosphere and friendly service. We didn't get to meet the owner but the German girl who was managing was so warm and welcoming. We will be back!

A strange but welcome find in Chinatown. The cappuccino was excellent (they make their hot coffee beverageswith two shots pf espresso which makes a difference), as was the earl grey lemon tarte. Looking forward to trying something else next time.

Melt in your mouth macaroons! We stopped in just as we were leaving town after a few days away. So happy they had some patisserie left over. It was a Saturday afternoon (nearing 4:30), so the store was pretty empty. They did have a few fresh items to choose from. Macaroons were vanilla, caramel, key-lime, and chocolate. First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to the staff at La Roux Patisserie. For my parents' anniversary, I was able to choose a cake (via phone consultation) and have it delivered to a hotel. They even made an exception and delivered the cake on their day off. The cake was absolutely stunning, and I was told it tasted delicious! I would absolutely recommend this bakery to anyone!

Great desserts at good prices, and the services is generally great. I find that the older owner is always a bit gruff and customer service isn't her strong suit. I often get the creme brulee, and it's usually great. On one occasion, the sugar had dissolved on the top and there was nothing to crack. Before reluctantly giving me a different one, she advised me that "that's just what happens as it sits throughout the day," as if I should just accept getting less than what I paid for. If they kept her in the back, this shop would be even more fantastic than it already is.

I happened to walk by this little patisserie while walking the streets of sunny downtown Victoria this weekend. I can honestly say there is nothing like it in the city! The decor is wonderful and gives off such a European feel. The atmosphere is very Parisian.The breakfast pastries are fantastic. Decadent, buttery and a fabulous way to treat yourself at a reasonable price. The desserts in the window are absolutely adorable and somehow manage to taste even better than they look. Overall, the whole patisserie is clean and inviting with 5 star service from the co-owners Emily and Rebecca who were both super friendly. I really appreciate them going the extra mile and it's also really great that everything is made fresh in house. Would definitely recommend!!! I'll be back to visit on my next cheat day ;)

Decent bakery. Quality seems to fluctuate. The first time I had the caramel brownie it was fantastic, but time after that, it was completely stale. I was especially disappointed at my last visit to the bakery. I ended up not liking the bread pudding, apologized and gave it back, and wasn't offered a refund for it. So essentially, I had to 1) pay for the first item that I didn't enjoy at all and couldn't eat and 2) to swap it for something else, which ended up being the aforementioned stale brownie. Haven't been back since....

A little over a week before my daughters wedding I came down with covid. I was supposed to fly into Victoria and bake for the wedding but had to cancel everything . I was devastated and heart broken. I randomly selected this bakery through google and over the phone asked for help! I was overwhelmed with the fantastic service, wonderful selection of pastries and they even managed a small wedding cake. They came in under budget and sent me pictures before the delivery of everything. The guests devoured the high quality pastries. I could not have asked for anything more, I look forward to my next trip to Victoria and visiting the bakery in person.

Stopped in here on Thursday last week and was looking to order a small sponge cake for the next day. I had read the reviews and it looked favorable. it also appears on the website that the sponge cake is one of their ´staple´ cakes. There were two girls behind the counter. When I asked if they had a small sponge cake the first girl asked if I wanted it for « today »? I said no for tomorrow. This seemed to cause great confusion and she went to the back to see if that was possible. The 2nd girl then asked us some further questions and unlike the first seemed to want to try to accommodate us. Then the first girl returned and told us all their orders for the next day were already full. There was a dialogue between the two girls with the first one overriding the second one. It was a final decision. We left feeling a bit bewildered. If there is something there’s no shortage of in Victoria, it’s bakeries staffed by helpful people wanting your business. Sadly this didn’t seem to be the case here on this particular day.

Great pastries, liked the tarte citron in particular. Was staying with relatives just down the street from here while visiting Victoria in June, tarte citron and two different versions of cheesecake were lunch out at Sooke Potholes Park the one day. Saw in another review that someone didn't like the cheesecake. Suspect that's a question of definition/habituation - there are probably at least a hundred and one traditional versions of cheesecake, and no one makes mashed potatoes, or anything really, quite like mum and/or nana make mashed potatoes.

More fun if you're with someone - but not required... Remember when you were a kid and you couldn't decide what you wanted because everything was so enticing? That. Times 10. Everything looks good. Everything tastes incredible. The only issue is what to get. So. My suggestion is to bring minimum one more person. The staff will cut a tart, a piece of cake or even a cookie into portions so you can share. Because the goods are so rich, they're very filling and you can only eat a little bit of each. Trust me. You want to try everything. Pace yourself and go frequently. The prices are actually less than I anticipated and the staff are the sweetest, knowledgeable, adorable people you'll meet. You'll think you were in Ville Marie in Montreal. Today we tried the tart citron, the white chocolate passion fruit cheesecake and the chocolate mousse! The best part is you can pair it with your favourite hot or cold beverage. Tea... Coffee... Latte... Cold milk... Water? Whatever? It's très bon! I'll be back again soon... I've found my cabane à sucre! LOL

(Translated) Disappointed: hardly any traditional French pastries apart from Paris Brest and lemon tarts, which can be found all over Canada. I took a chocolate "nun", which had in common with a nun only the name and quickly made the presentation: choux pastry with a strange taste, no real icing, a mix of chocolate filling and a coffee custard .. overall it was a more disappointing than a french supermarket pastry shop (Original) Déçu : aucune ou presque des pâtisseries traditionnelle française en dehors des Paris Brest et tartelettes au citron, qu'on trouve partout au Canada.. J'ai pris une "religieuse" au chocolat, qui n'avait de commun avec une religieuse que le nom et vite fait la présentation : pâté a choux au goût bizarre, pas de vrai glaçage, un mix de garniture au chocolat et d'une crème pâtissière au café.. dans l'ensemble, c'était un plus décevant qu'une pâtisserie de supermarché français
