Good food, nice atmosphere, and friendly staff!
A Victoria Landmark! Classic diner vibe, you feel like one of the family. The bakery up front is hoping with more Dutch treats than you can keep up with. Yum! Highly recommended!
Dutch Bakery has quite the selection of cookies, squares, and simple, typically Canadian pastries. As the name makes pretty obvious, there are also many of the most well known Dutch goodies, indicated by a little Dutch flag on the label. Those are what I went for and I was satisfied! -- "Mimi's Cake Tour"
Recommended to go in for pastry. Everything looked good. Black coffee was diner style and soaked up the sugar of the sweet cream filler pastry. We also got the almond bread and an almond croissant. Split decision on which was better. The savory spinach and cheese croissant was the top for me. Fast and efficient service at the counter and we ate on the sidewalk tables while having our crumbs picked up by the local bird. A very enjoyable way to start the day. The sugar high faded after an hour.
Good counter service & quality cup of coffee. Baked goods including multi-grain bread and macaroons were high quality.
Very cool nostalgic little place.
Ordered a wedding cake from the Dutch Bakery. We painstakingly went for tastings (we picked raspberry filling) and emailed our concept to them to ensure they have all the details they needed and paid a 50% deposit on the spot. A couple weeks later we realized we got no confirmation from them about the concept of the cake (i.e. colour, type of filling, and other decorations) and followed up. They said they "have no record of this cake ever being ordered" and we were stunned. We quickly searched through our paperwork and found the date, the amount paid, and a confirmation from the baker, all of which were magically forgotten. We sent that along and then they found the paperwork. With that ordeal (mistakes happen) in the past, we looked forward to our wedding cake. A couple days before the wedding, we went in to pay the outstanding balance. They again had some difficulties finding the paperwork. We confirmed all the details and paid and off we went. The day of the wedding arrives and the cake is ready, picked up, and was delivered to the venue by one of our guests. We were super excited about it as it looked great! The only thing was that when we finally got to eat the cake, it was vanilla and not raspberry filling. Everyone loved it so it all went OK, but I guess that little detail was lost somewhere in the paperwork...
My favorite place
Best birthday cake in town, my opinion... love cake, lol
Excellent tasting waffles, fresh fruit and real whip cream. Restaurant only has one waffle maker, so you'll wait a bit to taste such deliciousness. Hence, the half waffle. But worth the wait! Also, was free dessert day! GREAT start to the day.
This has a reputation as a must visit spot in Victoria, and it's easy to see why. The food is fantastic, the selection of pastries is simply awe inspiring. If you don't visit your taste buds will hate you for life
Feels like a well functioning throw back to the 50's, a real cafe.
Super place for real European style baked goods. Proper patisserie and bakery with a pleasant cafe in the back of the store.
Lovely cuppa...great chat with the locals and staff...a solid 10 out of 10 for a classic timeless Cafe. Can't wait to go back. ????
great breakfast, reasonably priced
The best bakery in town! Everything is so good! Also the little diner in the back is so worth checking out. This place is always busy, but its worth the wait.
(Translated) Good service. The desserts are delicious. Good service. The desserts are good. (Original) Buen servicio. Los postres están ricos. Good service. The desserts are good.
Always great!
Love the food & service here! The Dutch Bakey & Diner is on the list of restaurants we recommend to our downtown Vacation Rental guests.
Fabulous little place with a great bakery
Really friendly staff members and extremely delicious pastries. Also they have a really nice old style restaurant there too.
Great baked goods. Nice restaurant too. Feels like an old time diner. Menu is good, prices are good and the staff are friendly. I recommend the soup!
Lovely family owned bakery with seating option. Had a delicious breakfast! Chelsea was on the ball with her very pleasant service. Amazing selection of freshly baked pies and pastries. Taking some back with us to Vancouver for the kids! See you again soon!
Delicious Strawberry Shortcake!!
Enjoyed some lunch and the lemon cake!
Good coffee and lemonade
A reasonably priced eatery for breakfasts or lunches. Or just a cup of coffee with fresh pastries
Great diner feel with a bakery attached. Staff are super friendly and many of the patrons feel like regulars in a good way.
Some of the best pastries and chocolates in Victoria. Also, nothing better than going to Dutch Bakery for breakfast or lunch! It's like going back in time to another era.
Always have a lovely time when I come in here, whether it's for treats or their ridiculously delicious breakfast. The staff treat you so well you'd think you're family, Johanna if you're reading this...you make my day :) So happy to have them so close by
How many times has my wife brought home some tasty turkey pies from Dutch Bakery ?, many, many times. Because they are so tasty. Well yesterday for the first time I actually went inside and we sat down with our visitors from Ontario and we had an awesome lunch. My sisters were craving a burger and both were extremely satisfied with a home cooked burger, on an almost sweet tasting fresh bun. Service was very fast and quite friendly. My wife had the soup which she said had tremendous flavour. I chose the burger and I loved it because it was made from fresh ground beef and yes the bun tasted sweet and it was delicious. The waitress asked about desert but our eyes were glued to the huge bakery selection at the front of the bakery. After each of us made our selection we headed home all feeling quite full and satisfied that we had a wonderful meal at a fair price. The bakery goods did not last long and the day ended with a smile on our faces. Will definitely go back ...... real soon.
Another visit to one of the oldest, most renowned and creative bakeries in the dear old city. Their creations and service are as Outstanding now, as when they first opened 65 years ago. Every treat pastry cake and pie is magnificent!
What a wonderful find. Basic delicious inexpensive breakfast. Be sure to get the raisin bread for your toast.
Excellant waffles and whipped cream
Love their tarts and cakes. Not overly sweet.
The best MOCA cake!
Nice food, coffee, other drinks & meals. Nice place to have lunch with friends. Desserts are excellent. OLD EAGLE EYES ANDRE MOTUZ
Wish this was in or near my hometown. Wonderful treats and great breakfasts
Lovely little bakery with delicious treats. The spinach and feta croissant was fantastic. Coffee was good. Limited seating available for dine in but there's a few tables available outside.
Nice place to sit, yummy to eat, and friendly staff. Would definitely go next time I travel to Victoria.
Good service good food
Honestly can't say enough about this place.. Have been coming here since, maybe 1982? Always a favorite, 'meatball soup', 'Swiss burger' and 'croquettes'.. Bring a friend because you don't want to miss out on these favorites!! ????????????
Great food at great price. Staff we're lovely.
Sweet treats and great diner food for a reasonable price. A must!
A place of history! This bakery Cafe has been serving amazing yummy baked treats for many many years. I went as a child and continue to come here every time I'm in Victoria.
The third generation Schaddelee brothers do an exceptional job at preserving old world Victoria. If you want sickly sweet supermarket cakes, you won't find them here. Wheelchair accessible entrance (washroom up steep narrow flight of steps). Located along Antique Row just steps from Douglas Street.
This has the best baked goods.
Ok
Try the nanaimo bar!
The place is comfortably consistent in a world that tries to change and follow trends.
We went here for breakfast for 3 days with a bunch of high school kids and teacher/parents, and I can’t say enough good about the place. The food was great, the prices were beyond reasonable ( in the good way) and the service was friendly, efficient, and fast. The server we had in the first day even came in on her regular day off to serve us on day 2.
The best place to buy chocolate treats and fine confection like ribbon cake. Humm good
Amazing burgers.
My grandma used to come here on Thursdays back in the 80s and she loved their tea and desserts. I come here with my wife, and my ma carrying on that tradition. The sweets are to die for, their simple diner menu will satisfy anyone. They also did my wedding cake and it was absolutely perfect. You will find what you need here for a steal of a deal.
Pastries galore
Fantastic little spot for breakfast or lunch -- fresh baked good, old-fashioned ambience and good service.
Good restaurant and bakery.
it wasent the best. They had no kid frendy drinks and there was barly anything there that i liked
I was there yesterday and I had the best clubhouse and I paired it with a bowl of soup and I had no problem with anyone or anything else I would highly recommend it to anyone who is hungry for comfort food ????????
Tried both the baked goods and the restaurant. I thought the cake was expensive for what you got. The chicken burger was ok, but nothing special. My husband loved his burger and dessert, so maybe it depends on what you select? It certainly was busy and the staff were very nice...lots of people obviously love this place, but alas I did not.
Great lunch options and polite staff! Only downside is you can't eat everything on the menu in one sitting!
I've seen a lot of flavors, the cookies are really good. But other desserts are of low quality. Sometimes there are very friendly staff and sometimes unfriendly staff. There are so many kinds of desserts that I need time to think about... they are pushing me too. The staff do not give the customer time to choose.
Try the Fleischkroketten!
Great food at great price. Staff we're lovely.
Fantastic bakery...love their stuff...and the staff is awesome at helping you find the appropriate items to suit your tastes.
The Mocha Point is to die for.
Great bakery and breakfast bar. Old timers' haven in Victoria. Friendly staff. Food is cheap, and quality is mediocre. Breakfast is the best time to go there.
(Translated) Friendly vintage style from the 50's and 60's. Excellent breakfast and service. (Original) Convivial style d’époque des années 50-60. Petit déjeuner et service excellent.
Great service and atmosphere love the 50s style.
Dollar roll marzipan pastry is da bomb! The pastries here are so pretty. I come here for a treat. The price for these is steep but then they really are beautifully done and so delicious! I got a bunch of pastries here instead of a bday cake which was an awesome decision. Cherry tart and Deer leg... lol was also scrumptious. Service was fast and friendly so always love visiting here.
Excellent atmosphere 10/10 I felt like I was in my very own sitcom. The food was good and reasonably priced (recommendation the Ruben) and coffee in adorable mugs. Really couldn’t complain.
Delicious meat pie with salad. Black forest cake for dessert that was light as a feather.
a victoria classic - cheap prices and very dutch vibe
Great service and delicious cakes!
Its cheap, but you certainly get what you pay for... Microwaved presidents choice burger patties. At least the bakery is good.
My family and I ordered a cake for our Mom’s 60th birthday. We’re in Ontario & given COVID we wanted to do something extra special since we can’t be there to celebrate with her. The staff at Dutch Bakery were so great in helping us organize her special surprise. Just the friendliest bunch, especially Michelle! We’re so grateful. Plus it doesn’t hurt that everything they make is delicious! Thank you.
Baked goodies to die for!
Do you want delicious pastries? Do you want great breakfast to go along with those pastries? early in mornings if your in Victoria BC? Head to this place you won't be disappointed.
The atmosphere, service and food are excellent. I loved their coffee as well
Dropped in after visiting Russell Books nearby, and had a nice tuna melt. It was just like Mom used to make and a reasonable price. You can't beat the dollar roll for dessert, reminds me of birthday cake. All in all, I had a nostalgic visit as this place has not changed at all from a fifties diner.
My fav is the parliment pastry. Covid appropriate. Prices have gone up . but still a nice family tradition.
A simple menu at a family-run cafe. Decent food, very reasonable prices, fast and polite service.
Nice friendly kids working, gross pastries made with lard or veg shortening, leaves your mouth coated and gross
After 10 years we were finally by this bakery when it was open. The filling of the apple strudel was under cooked; raw flour is not enjoyable to eat. The money role felt like eating a blob of raw white sugar. Did not finish either. We will not be back; very disappointed.
Family run business. Home cooking! Dependable.
Amazing baked goods. We drive from the comox valley just to enjoy the Dutch bakery
The cake tasted good, I like it
I went to the restaurant portion of the establishment and it was cute and friendly. Ordered the croquette. Only down side was seating. Not so comfortable for the partner I went with. Bit hard for their disability.
Classic diner.
My favourite danishes in Victoria!
Had a great turkey sandwich on a croissant. Much more spacious on the inside than it initially seemed. Very kind staff.
Just visited this bakery! Nice old time feel to it. Stopped in for a pastry and coffee, chose a raspberry Danish with Lemon icing, delicious???? Will return!
We enjoyed our time today! Vanilla slides and strudel were superb! I’m a big fan of pastries with reasonable amount of sugar because I need to feel the taste! And these were great! For people like me who doesn’t like oversweeted desserts and prefer more European style bakery it is a must! Staff was awesome! I’m going to come back!
Good place for breakfast. Menu with a good variety of products. I had a mini-breakfast, delicious and a reasonable price. Recommend this place. All covid19 measures were taken by the owners
This is my dad's go to place. This is where him and my mom use to go to when they were first dating (in the 60') And growing up my grandma always brought home Dutch Bakery goodies. I absolutely love this place. Always good and fresh food and service is absolutely amazing.
A nostalgic and delicious place to eat. The first ingredient in everything is butter – yum! I love their burgers, which have a sausage-like flavour and are so tender and juicy. This place isn’t gourmet, but it is tasty, affordable, and friendly.
it wasent the best. They had no kid frendy drinks and there was barly anything there that i liked
Awesome little breakfast spot or a little coffe & bakery treat. We opted for the coffee and treat option - dutch shortbread and spinach feta pastry. …
This is a little piece of heaven you can find on Fort Street. From an amazing and delicious diner menu to succulent treats and baked goods found in the bakery, they have you covered. I highly recommend a visit as you will always find yourself coming back one you do.
Decently priced food, yummy pastries and friendly staff
The worst black forest cake i have ever tasted from here. They don’t know what exactly the Black Forest cake is... such a shame
Always great service and a great setup to prevent covid
Solid diner experience. Excellent service, quality food at a great price.
excellent food especially the breakfast
Always like to have lunch here, croquettes are great and so is the bakery offerings
A bit of nostalgia. Basic old fashioned breakfasts, lunches and pastries. Just stepped ibto the 1940s. It's a Victoria institution.
After walking from Bear Mountain Resort to downtown Victoria, one is left feeling a little hungry. …
5 stars for excellent service! Our server was the sweetest, jolliest person and she truly made our morning breakfast a memorable one! Loved their almond danish and sourdough bread lathered in butter yum! Veggie Omelette was good too! If you’re looking to try a local no frills cafe with good, affordable food - try this!
The good was very good and affordable. Our server was very polite and friendly to us. Food came in 10 minutes after ordering. We will definitely be coming back!
Friendly staff and good coffee for breakfast. Pastries were also authentically delicious. Locals place and friendly to tourists.
Delicious pies, pastries and selection of baked goodies. Went back for breakfast and we weren't disappointed. Thank you Shayna for your great service and care of all the other guests in the diner this morning. Pretty impressive ????
What an extraordinary place to have lunch! Great food and a pastry counter to temp, tantalize and treat your tastebuds!
uh
Best and least expensive breakfast there is, we enjoyed breakfast here twice in just 4 days.
Expensive but exquisite treats! The restaurant area behind the bakery seems like the perfect spot to bring grandma.
Food was bland, and staff was inattentive. Also, the lighting in the restaurant was very poor. Making the food look very unappetising. The washrooms are slightly dirty, and are up a flight of steep stairs, so no wheelchair access. However, I will say that the vanilla milkshake was very very good.
As usually, it is a great place for a no frills dinner.
Used to come here when I was a child. It was great to come back and see it hasn't changed much. All the food was delicious
This place is always my kryptonite. It is by far one of my favorite bakeries downtown Victoria by far
Miss u.
Good food and great bakery
Great food, great service, great times!
No surprise this place is a classic staple. Baked goods are delicious coffee and tea were great service was wonderful. Though we only had sweets the full breakfast menu was very tempting. Such a nostalgic diner feel.
The Dutch!
Note: I've only had counter service here, and not yet dined-in. While almost everything here contains sugar in dangerous quantities, it's just all so good that you can't help but keep coming back... and the super-friendly staff really make that choice an easy one. ALWAYS take a number though, if you don't want to be caught waiting! This place is busy all the time, to the point where if there's a lineup and it's off-season, you might want to come back in 30 minutes or so. Not because the staff are slow( they're QUICK to serve you! )but that the customers tend to take their time, picking this and that and then this and maybe... well, you get the idea. You can't really blame folks though, since there's so MUCH variety to choose from. I tend to prefer the smaller treats, like the hazelnut puffs or chocolate half-moons, which are great value for the money: $10 will get you a dozen of these delicacies, which go over really well as an office pick-me-up. You can also get cakes( whole or by the slice )along with a variety of baked goods - watch out for the rare special sale for REALLY good deals. I stop by every few weeks to pick up something for the people I work with, and it always makes their day. While it's often busy here, the staff are really great and have excellent suggestions if you're not sure what to try. The Dutch Bakery is a Victoria institution, like a few other places, and it's worth your time( even if it annoys your dentist )to drop in to treat yourself, or people you love.
They provide that classic diner feel that you can't anywhere anymore
Best bakery in Victoria.. all desserts are amazing.. cake is perfect and all test delicious ????
My favourite bakery!
The place is getting very very dated. Look like a joint from Woodstock days
Always loved dropping in to grab a pastry... but in the last four years we've been enjoying their restaurant portion of the shop. A great casual place for breakfast or lunch. The feeling I get when I go there is like I am visiting my friend's family who runs a diner. everyone seems really chill and happy. Food quality is totally homemade goodness, and comforting. No exotic creations, just really good food.
I keep going back for the tasty, super-affordable $4.75 mini-breakfast! Crispy bacon, an egg, hash browns, and buttered toast with jam. Add an extra egg for $1.50 like I do, and you have the best deal in town for a two egg homestyle breakfast. Coffee is extra.
Awesome!
Loved going back to a childhood memory and had a great breakfast Sweets too
Swung by this bakery recently and their pastries were great! They do special orders for cakes and other products too. Their food’s priced decent as well!
Great food
Best place in Victoria for pastries..and oh those delicious croquettes! Highly recommended.
Probably the best breakfast in town especially at that price point. Love the old times feeling of the place. Wish they did not place the salt licorice bags by the cashier as one can't resist buying them.
More than a bakery, there is a small diner section as well.
I've gone here a few times and It's a classic bakery, can't come to victoria without checking it out. Yummy treats!
Good food and service. Delicious pastries and chocolates. Have been going here since childhood and have never been disappointed
I can not say enough wonderful things about The Dutch Bakery. I have been going here since I was a baby. It is a HUGE part of my childhood, and entire upbringing. Every single birthday since my 1st birthday has been celebrated with their beautiful cakes <3. And both sides of my family have been coming here for generations. The staff are warm, kind and wonderful. The food and treats are sooooo yummy, and so reasonably priced. My faves are the sausage rolls, meat pies, vanilla slices and lemon pies. Thank you Dutch Bakery for being such a huge part of my family's life. We love you all! <3
Swung by this bakery recently and their pastries were great! They do special orders for cakes and other products too. Their food’s priced decent as well!
I always make a point of stopping by when I'm in Victoria. Awesome food and service!
Love this place. Classic diner with a Dutch twist. Best croquettes in town.
An institution. I've been going for 35 years. Meatball Soup / Burger / Croquette.
Not my first visit!
Nice place, good pastries, the and much more.Friendly staff
Staff is awesome
Friendly Staff, Great value, and Delicious. My daughter loved the sourdough toast so much she asked for a side order. Mmm
Great, would definitely bring a date back.
Excellent food! Amazing bakery!
Twee and great for talking grandparents
Great serive. Great food.
Seriously the best pastries bar none. Strawberry shortcake when is season is fantastic!
The Black Forest cake we ordered for a birthday at work today was quickly prepared and was the most delicious any of us could ever remember eating. A Victorian institution that continues to produce the finest pastries and cakes in the city.
Awesome, great ???? s
Had the most amazing chocolate cake with vanilla custard from this bakery! Their cakes aren’t too sweet, they are just flavourful and delicious! Their vanilla squares are also amazing! A must try if you are in Victoria.
Good honest food
Just Fantastic Staff although the prices are getting more unrealistically high
Friendly, folksy, and the pastries are so darn good! A great place to take family -- your grandma or your kids.
Great pock up service
Go for a hot simple breakfast be be sure to get the raisin bread as your toast. Absolutely delicious! I grabbed a whole loaf to take home with me.
Finally, toasted Sanger for lunch!
Very delicious baked goods. A true staple of Victoria. Didn't have a chance to try the diner part.
Great baked goods
Always yummy cakes, I've been going here for years, thank you Dutch Bakery Staff <3
This place Always makes my wife happy and that's what really matters !
Good baking , good selection of items
Amazing diner with decent prices! They forgot my cheese but the sandwich was so good I didn't notice until the end. Can't wait to go back:)
Yum
I find the coffee really good, the price is just insanely good for a sit-down. I've had breakfast and lunch there, and for the food and prices are just really good.
This is one of the best coffee shops in the world. The food and staff are Wonderful.
Cero costumer service: I am fine with waiting to be seated...But I am tottally off whith them! We were waiting and nobody has been made eye contact with us. They pass in front us nobody have the coutesy to say hello. One "hello! Please wait for a table, we will be with you soon" is the minimun we want to know.
A classic looking dinner with simple food at a great price. Fast service, friendly staff, and there desserts are the best. I will be back soon.
Poor service and rude staff at the counter, won’t come back
Family friendly with good food and service.
So affordable and good.
The ol' DB never fails to provide something to eat. Their cakes and pastries are always to die for, and I don't care to count the number of croquette burgers I've eaten over the years I've lived in Victoria. Do yourself a favor and get a fried egg and slice of cheese on it, you won't be disappointed. Parking can be a pain but the prompt service and general lack of wait time for tables makes this institution well worth the visit.
I have breakfast at the Dutch Bakery often..food is always good, service has been excellent..baking is to die for!!
Yummy.
Tasty food and excellent service! Thank you for a great experience. The deserts are amazing as well.
Good prices, quality decent but not outstanding If in a need for sugar rush, great place :)
My entire extended family has been coming here for about 60 years, basically since they opened. Pick anything and it will be delicious. Personal favorites are the dollar rolls and the vanilla slices.
Attentive staff. Eggs were undercooked. Not like the original Dutch uitsmijter, so disappointing. Great assortment of cakes, pastries, and chocolates.
This place has the best pies and cakes and cookies
Really nice diner style breakfast, and a great place to grab a vanilla slice or a meat pie on the go.
The wife and I absolutely loved this place and it’s old school charm. Food and service were exceptional. Will definitely be back next time we visit Victoria.
Went into Dutch Bakery today to pick up some cakes to try. The location is almost an institute in the Victoria landscape as it’s been here for years and I remembered it from my childhood. …
FIrst place I stop at in Victoria....always great food!
This is just a nice place to go. The service is good. The cake and pastries all look substantial and delicious. Good Americano as well.
Really bad customer service to get seated. I wait almost 15 min with out line, everybody smile but nobody ask if we been help. When we ask how can we get a table, a lady said ((( I’m not working in that area I work at the bakery)))) the bakery is just no more that five steps.
Bought various croissants and pastries to go- they were excellent and the ladies who served me were great too! ????
We love. To. Go thete when we come to town
A timeless classic. Great mid century feel. Great sausage rolls and cookies.
Cheap and cheerful. But not worth the visit.
Great diner food and yummy treats! A favourite spot!
It used yo be a great bakery.. I went back after a couple of years and didn't find it as good...
Best old-school breakfast spot in town. Good coffee, great eggs and proper counter service.
I wasn't impressed. I ordered a Turkey meat pie off the lunch menu for $9.15. What arrived was closer to the size of a tart. No where near the size of a frozen meat pie. We just about laughed out loud! An insult really for that price. It shouldn't be on the lunch menu. Maybe as an appetizer, but not for that price. My colleagues had good size meals for roughly the same price. Whatever you do, avoid the meat pie. Unless you order it for someone as a joke!
A Victoria institution. Wonderful baked goods, especially if you like almond. The main reason I go is the baked goods (turkey pies, dollar rolls, flying saucers, marzipan, cherry tarts...) but they also make chocolates (peanut butter cups and kahlua cups are some favs) and have a cafe/restaurant area. Consistent quality and friendly service. There's a reason they've stayed in business so long - classic high quality
So, my company wanted to get an awesome locally made cake for a coworkers bday. I picked up a 7x7 chocolate cake and 6 gluten and dairy free treats for one workers allergies for $35. The cake was delish and got eaten up asap!
Good baked desserts but lunch food is nothing special.
The best breakfast croissant and coffee. Affordable prices and good service. Visiting this 3rd generation Dutch family bakery is a special experience in Victoria.
An absolute gem! This diner is straight out of the 50’s, complete with the diner bar and pies on display. Food is incredible - homemade and what you have always wanted from an old school diner - simple, unpretentious and tastes like home. Prices are absolutely unmatched too being $7-$10 for a very filling and delicious meal. Service is equally great with attentive and friendly staff. To top it off, they also have a bakery which serves the most incredible cakes and desserts. Highly, highly recommend!
Amazing treats
So many talks with so many friends... Nothing says "Victoria" to me more than the Dutch Bakery
Great place for lunch!
Delicious! Pastries are fresh and tasty.
A timeless classic. Great mid century feel. Great sausage rolls and cookies.
Awesome Looking pastries. Had the strawberry ???? shortcake ????. It was delicious. Quick friendly Staff.
Awesome place.
Service was great.
Delicious pastry
Love the atmosphere in the Dutch Bakery! Recommend you park in parking garage one block over. Great, delicious lunch specials!
I am personally not a fan of the Dutch Bakery. I know a lot of people really like it and maybe it is the nostalgia that goes along with it. I find the cakes are very bland and almost dry. The cookies are ok but if someone brings them in to the office I don't have a hard time saying no. It's just not for me.
Service with a smile. Staff very friendly. Inexpensive but tasty meals. A nostalgic trip back in time. Whether you're sitting at a table or up at the counter. Great place. Highly recommended.
Pretty good diner had a nice lunch! Love the ribbon cake also. If only the dollar rolls' ends would be dipped in chocolate instead of the almond shavings, you'd earn a fifth star from me ????
We sit in the back and have breakfast sometimes, great prices, great service, great food!
I've been coming here since 1969 for the 'Flying Saucer Cookies'. Every thing at The Dutch Bakery is hand made and delicious. The coffee shop has a great menu filled with classic diner fare. Well worth a visit.
Great coffee and amazing pastries, great place to stop for a quick snack.
Great cookies.
Racist staff but their pastries are good
A nice reminder of diners of old. It made me nostalgic. Located at the back of the bakery, it has table service, comfortable atmosphere, and classic menu and bakery items. I ordered the Cheeseburger Special with fries and tea. The burger patties are bulk but otherwise OK. I came in at 2:30p, close to closing time, and they had run out of buns so I had my cheeseburger on bread - just like at home! I liked that option. The service was fast and friendly. I noticed "regulars" that servers and staff knew which I think is a good sign. I will visit again, want to to try their Chicken Pot Pie made in-house. The bakery has amazing items!
Delicious breads and pastries
Food good. Very popular and busy Saturday morning. Hopping with customers.
Amazing food and even better deserts
Delish food. Fab desserts. Friendly. Inexpensive
I absolutely love the various goodies there, especially the chocolate macaroons and the eclair, tasty!
Been coming here for 30yrs and service and food are unmatched in town.
It’s not even close. Best bakery and diner ever. I’ve going to the Dutch Bakery for almost 50 years and it’s still as good as it ever was. Thanks for all your great work and staying true to tradition. You’ll ALWAYS be my favourite restaurant in the world.
Always friendly, comfortable and affordable
Such kind and helpful service. Whether popping in for fresh baked goods or the chocolaterie or the diner, always a good experience.
The ultimate in confectionery baking. Mocha cakes and tarts. Marzipan cakes and rolls. Also, peanut free options. Don't expect it to be cheap, because it is among the best.
Rubens are awesome, I suggest the hot mustard.
The food is vintage cafe fare and ambience. Waitresses have a fabulous and welcoming attitude. Pick up sweet treats after your comfort meal.
Good old fashioned food
The Dutch Bakery and café in Victoria has been my goto place for lunches, pastries, and a great cup of coffee for more than 30 years. I've been coming here since before I was born even, it has spanned 3 generations of my family coming here for breakfast, or lunch, or a cup of coffee and a piece of sacher torte or lemon meringue pie, or. My grandfather who came here for a dollar roll and tea. As long as it is here, I will continue to come for the coffee, a sandwich and pastry, and the great staff. Did I mention the staff? They are great, friendly, and sometimes a little sassy which is a welcome change from other café's in and around the Victoria area.
Classic bakery. Consistent and always delicious
A nice warm cozy place. Went with a friend. Price is okay for students, Apple.pie with ice cream is delicious!
Great food
I love this bakery!! I would highly recommend Vanilla slice.
All their baked goods and treats and everything are top notch. They have a medium size diner in the back with very reasonably priced food. I've gone there many times for breakfast and lunch and never been disappointed.
Average taste, bit expensive
Wonderful, nostalgic bakery and coffee shop serving amazing pastries. A Victoria tradition since 1956. The staff and table service here are consistently friendly and wonderful. I usually stop in for pastries with coffee or tea and it's like going back to the 50's for awhile (well...what I imagine the 50's must have been like). I also drop in to buy cake or pastries for special occasions and to purchase chocolates at Easter & Christmas. They have a bit of a cult following at Easter and the day before Easter Sunday is extremely busy and usually lined up. They have the larget selection of Easter molds on the island and you can get everything from Rabbits,, chickens, lambs, and ducks, to more whimsical characters in race cars, in formal Easter dress, and beautiful large chocolate eggs brightly decorated with icing and marzipan. The half and half mini eggs are delicious (half milk, half dark chocolate). They make great vanilla slices, apple strudel, hazelnut tarts, and a huge number of yummy pastries. If you're visiting Victoria you definitely have to stop in at least once. Reasonable prices and quality treats.
Love their strawberry short cake. Good portions and lovely flavours
Yum! That is all I have to say. The baked goods and food here are so yummy!!
Always a go to place.. love the staff and the food is comforting.
(Translated) Very traditional Dutch food (Original) Comida muy tradicional holandesa
Awesome! It's been a family favorite for years. And the vanilla Slices? Let's just say they can't be beat!
Great place, you can choose to get your sweets to-go or eat right there in the restaurant. Came for great Nanaimo bars, wasn't disappointed. Too many pastries to try them all, there is only so much room in one stomach.
The Food was a little bland. Service was slow but it was clean. A little costly for what you get. Wouldn't go again.
Love this old school diner and bakery!
Excellent experience, clerk was very friendly.
We are proud to feature the Dutch Bakery & Coffee Shop in the Top 10 Bakeries Category.
Love it there!
Delicious food at the eat in diner. Fresh baked goods that are gorgeous and taste good too! Little treats from the wife's family heritage.
Amazing Strawberry shortcake, which came with a well deserved recommendation from the staff.
Whole wheat banana muffins ????
So delicious reminds me of home
A lovely, family-owned bakery in the heart of downtown. Delicious pastries at quite a reasonable price. The diner in the back has pretty decent fair, but their strength is clearly in the desserts. The service for ordering at the front-of-house bakery could be re-worked to make it run smoother. It's quite hectic when there is more than 3 customers in the store as each of the 2 - 3 cashiers just grab and ring in their individual sales. Feels like chickens running around with their heads cut off when it really doesn't need to be.
Real, old school diner/café/bakery. Homemade goodness and tons of atmosphere. Saturday afternoon and the place was packed. Come alone and you can slip right in and take a stool at the counter. The real deal.
Amazing waffles.
I grew up in this City, so whenever I return, meat pies and petite fours for the whole Family.
It was nice(nostalgic) to have some good Dutch treats. Friendly atmosphere.
Friendly, prompt service; great breakfast; the apple slice had such flaky pastry; reasonable prices; a Victoria institution!
Every time I am in the area I have to stop and grab a pastry or some other delectable goody. I am from a Dutch family, and I am sure that makes me love this store even more!
Extremely friendly staff and a strong loyal local following. You can have just about any kind of diner sandwich you can think of here. Wifi works just OK. Simple coffee and pastries or fancy baked goods up front. Diner in back with ample cheap options for everyone.
Saw this on google maps and had to give it a try. My wife and I both ordered the special breakfast. For $7 (CAD) you get 2 eggs, toast, hashbrowns, and choice of meat. A great value and eggs were perfectly cooked to order. We didn't try any pastries, but they looked good.
Their backed goods are delish and the staff are super friendly
A Victoria landmark!
Great selection, I come here every month as a treat
Love the Dutch Bakery! Old school but sooo good. Great breakfast and lunch. Tons of pastries. Run by the same family for 4 generations.
Great place to have lunch or a quick dessert and tea. It's been around for 50+ years.
Great place to couple a tasty cup of Colombian coffee with a tasty pastry treat. A Victoria staple.
good breakfast menu at reasonable prices. Slow checkout on a busy day.
(Translated) Good hooks (Original) Good crochets
Always a delight to stop in, pick up a cake, and feast on a cheeseburger!
An institution, without which Victoria would be the poorer
Awesome bake products..
Had a great Black Forest cake and tea on the afternoon special rate. We'll worth a yummy visit!
This place is a must visit. Such a lovely staff and quality food for a more than reasonable price.
Nice bakery place found in downtown of victoria
Tourist from Edmonton visiting your lovely city - Dutch was recommended to me by a friend. Had lunch there - cheeseburger and fries were great - classic diner style. Finished with a couple of house made chocolates - a salted caramel and a peanut butter cup... devine.
Not authentic. Almost everything is French, British, or German. They didn’t even have boterkoek or appeltart. If you’re looking for Dutch sweets you’re looking in the wrong place.
Wonderful sweet and savory pastries, as well as sandwiches and breakfast
Very reasonably priced weekday breakfast special. A Victoria institution.
Nice service, terrible coffee
Fantastic bakery loaded with local charm. Baked goods are wonderful. Menu offers reasonably priced breakfast and lunch options, a rarity in a horribly expensive city like Victoria.
Good dessert
The best place for a taste of Dutch foods
worst breakfast ever, could it hurt to at least butter the toast,
Very fast service, friendly, was amazed at how reasonable the price. Front end is retail bakery and chocolates. Back end is old school diner. My vanilla slice was heel lekker.
Still a warm friendly shop. They are known for their European baked goods but also have a classic coffee shop and luncheon counter. Servings are reasonably sized and very good prices. Well worth a visit. If you are trying to avoid bakeries, eat the house made chocolates.
Amazing institution of Victoria! Still great.
Picked up turkey pie , so delicious ????
Love the croquettes!
Fantastic service and the food was SO GOOD! I went for the classic bacon and eggs situation, the eggs were fresh and everything was delicious. If you are looking to support one of the last old style diners in Victoria this is it.
I love their pastries but the service needs work... They give you this tiny cup for your coffee and then seem annoyed when you want refills. My server went on a break and nobody cared to serve me. When I politely asked for coffee, the server with the curly hair was very rude to me. I won't be going back. I honestly felt bad when I left... Unappreciated and singled out. The other tables seemed to be getting normal service. What did I do to offend you so much?? If you're not too busy to stand around talking about how you hate your house coffee etc. then getting a refill shouldn't be such a problem. If you were slammed with tables then I would be so much more patient as I am a server myself and know what that is like... You guys really disappointed me today....
We were so pleased with the service and food. It’s a nice little restaurant with comfy seating. Our food was out in 5 minutes, and was absolutely delicious. And the prices are great- 2 meals for $20. I strongly recommend giving this place I try. We love it and can’t wait to return!
Super nice staff, delicious eats, clean. Everything I look for. :-)
A wonderful place that has been here for as long as I can remember. My family has enjoyed this restaurant and bakery for years. Every time I come to Victoria we always have to go. Weather it is for a lunch or dinner dessert or maybe buying a cake for a special event. It's always nice.
It was good
Honestly I've had much better pastries from the grocery store. Our server was clearly disinterested in us, brought over two cold, stale danishes and possibly the worst coffee on the continent- this coffee made IHOP look good.
Very friendly staff and yummy treats
Lovely breakfast.
Their Dutch pastries are to die for! A must try when in Victoria.
(Translated) Very good bouncer (Original) Very good uitsmijter
Just plain yes. Was that review not enough for you? Well that's how I feel when we have finished the last of the pasties or pastries we took home from this place. I know that hollow feeling isn't great but it is life so get used to it, enjoy your baked goods while you can because ultimately someone else will eat that last one you were saving and then Covid will strike so you can't get another for ages. :(
Amazing
Great food and great prices. Highly recommend this place.
Nice staff and a cute location, however we ordered a Black Forest Cake for my birthday, and despite reading reviews saying it was phenomenal, it was the worst Black Forest Cake I've ever had. Instead of a traditional whipped cream icing, it was a dense chocolate Buttercream, and the center was the same but vanilla. Unfortunately it was rich, dense and not what we were expecting. When I looked at the website to see what we did wrong, it says it will cost you an extra %35 to have whipped cream and fruit substituted. Our mistake I suppose?
A huge disappointment. We were expecting "a chocolate cake" but it's literally a cake made of cheapest margarine and brown food color without any taste of chocolate nor cocoa! It was so embarrassing moment to see my wife, (was her birthday) and my 5-year-old daughter normally who loves chocolate cake so much but could not eat. Unfortunately, it went to garbage directly... Our experience was very similar to eating a cheap raw margarine :(
Great bakery! Delicious deserts, good Dutch food. Reasonably priced
Super yummy and nice. Even if it gets crowded you still feel attended to.
The consistence of this place is incrediable. I am not a regular but I do come here once in awhile and for the duration of 20+ years, the quality of the service and food items remain high.
I love the diner atmosphere. The bakery is so delectable.
The only bakery I shop at in Victoria. The best treats ever
Great baked goods!
old institution with good original recipes the yams are delicious if you go for a meal // should have more vegetarian options :D
Best bakery ever! Been going there for my whole life.
They're cookies are very delicious my favourite cookie their is Dutch shortbread The price is okay Friendly environment
On the recommendation of a fellow Timminsite, I sought out the Dutch Bakery and Diner. After 61 years of operation, this business is a well oiled machine that understands the importance of excellence and consistency in their products and their service. I felt "at home"...4000 miles away????The omelette breakfast and Croquette supper were fresh, delicious and reasonably priced. They have not seen the last of me ????
(Translated) Ok was not convincing (Original) Was ok niet overtuigend
Oh yes a must!
Lovely
Best cakes in town.
Good service n good food
Friendly helpful staff and delicious choices
Our favorite, ribbon cake always delicious
Just got a cake for gf's birthday and it was good. They also have other dessert such as macaron, not to mention cakes
Slow
Delicious Ollie Bolen, friendly service, and great reuben sandwiches. Traditional Dutch bakery/ breakfast or lunch spot.
This is a great place to eat. Desserts are the best.
The savory pies!!! I wish we bought more to bring home to Vancouver! They were perfect and i still dream about them...
A blast from the past
The staff is very friendly and helpful, the food is amazing
High quality Dutch Bakery: all Dutch treats prepared like in The Netherlands. The gevulde koeken & amandelbroodjes are great!
A staple in the downtown core but the baked goods are nothing special compared to the multitude of newer bakery, if your like 60+ years old this is your place.
Servers were super friendly. It was a little slow, but that's just because it's always so busy. The pastries/desserts were a fair price, and the actual food was average cafe price.
Disappointed with Black Forest cake for my moms birthday Dont think it was very fresh as it was on the dry side Like another review on here didn't know you could order with fresh whipping cream Option should have been offered Next time will get a Sacher torte
Wow, fantastic bakery!
4.5 stars, diner with good service and reasonable prices for the area.
Loved this place! Had breakfast, and of course got treats to go!! The vanilla slices were the best.
A Victoria institution. Great breakfast and lunch favourites and dessert is a must
Great food... Great service and prices are even better
Good
Unfortunately my experience was unpleasent for the breakfast. The gentle woman who attended us, was not nice at all, the washroom was occupied by a non-client all the time I was there. There was nothing especial about the food and the price was high for the quality. This review is only for the breakfast, not the pastry section as I didn't try any. Overall not worth it.
Sugar plus sugar, will never come back.
Always the best!!!
Wow! My dad is Dutch, and we went here to enjoy some nostalgia of our trips to Holland. They delivered! The food here is wonderful and we had a wonderful time trying some of the great Dutch favorites. It will be a fond memory of our time here, as the food is very good, the service excellent and the prices fair.
Our favorite place for all cookies...fruit cake and chocolates.
Great little hidden gem. Great food and nice pastries.
Very disappointed.. after hearing rave reviews thought I would purchase a piece of cake for my hubby's bday since we are visiting from alberta and don't have a big enough fridge of a whole cake. I bought the mocha and strawberry short cake... the cakes were dry and tasteless... I think I'm better off buying cake at superstore or save on, its yummier than this gourmet place... Also purchased the chocolates, but most of them tasted grimey and more like dollar store stuff. Not happy at all... good thing I don't live here and have to recommend this bakery to anyone.
After more than 30 years the amazing quality is still the same. I have not come across any other bakery offering the same kind of cherry tarts, dollar rolls, mocha cakes, vanilla slices, etc. So rare to find a place that has stayed true to its roots.
Great as always. We almost always stop in here when we come here from Nanaimo. Have memories going back to our honeymoon 32 years ago. Love the treats, and if you stay to enjoy them the service is great. I usually have the vanilla slice.
Good food
Best birthday cake ever
Very disappointing experience, the cakes are dry and seem to be made from a mix, the icing has much do to be desired for. Absolutely tasteless and a disgrace for a Bakery and Pastry Shop to serve such low quality.
Good food and amazing desserts in an old school restaurant that hasn't changed much since the 60s. Very reasonably priced.
Tried hazelnut tart, red velvet cupcake, strawberry shortcake, mocha log, nanaimo - very sweet, a lot of butter, no reason to return to this bakery.
Bakery was okay but not as good as some of the other artisan bakeries in the neighborhood. I was underwhelmed with their baked goods.
Always a friendly good food place. Great breakfasts
I like their cakes but their coffee is not good
All the staff are welcoming and friendly. The food and baked are always good, and brings back memories of past home baked deserts and treats. Reminders of my youth sitting at the counter in the restaurant.
Best place to buy croquettes
Awesome little coffee shop in back and always gotta pick something up from the bakery... One of the family favorites..
Did a wonderful job of making my gender reveal cake, it was perfect... And its a girl :)! Thank you dutch bakery!
Good
The Moca Cake has been my favorite since childhood. Since moving back to Victoria I have come in at least once a week. Super friendly staff and the food is so fresh!
Super friendly staff, food is awesome and it's one of the only place in town that gives you the old school feeling. You really need to experience it!!
Old fashioned small town bakery and Cafe great staff and food
Order the home made raisin bread. It's to die for. Tastes as good as it smells. Everything was good, but the raisin bread toast is like the best memories of childhood . You will feel warm and fuzzy after. Get here early or you will wait
As a Dutchman, I must say this place was as close to Mom's baked goods as possible and my Mom was from a bakers family ! Don't miss breakfast at this little jewel of Victoria, the "Dutch in you" will thank you !!
I purchased turkey and beef pies there yesterday. The turkey filling had that too old and stale turkey taste, which is most unpleasant, rendering the pies inedible. Then I tried the "beef" pie and it was disgusting. No sign of real beef or gravy. It was made with some kind of unidentifiable meat paste that was really nasty. When I contacted the Dutch Bakery about this, they said they were sorry I had a bad experience but didn't offer to correct it in any way. So the remaining pies are in the garbage and I'm out $16.00. Because of their failure to try to maintain this 45+ year customer, I commented about this on their Facebook page. I see that they have removed my comments. I can only assume that they removed my comments so they can foist these bad products on other unsuspecting people. So I'm writing this bad review. If they had chosen to deal with my complaint properly, I would be writing a completely different review. So be warned.....do not purchase any meat pies from the Dutch Bakery.
In recent times I have had very nice service in this bakery and coffee shop but in the past this has not always been the case. I find many places here in Victoria seem to have an attitude which does not seem to be the case in other places where I have been visiting. Too bad. We are not doing ourselves, nor our businesses, any favours in this way. There are many wonderful new bakeries and shops with great products and friendly service in certain areas and shops here and in other locals.
went their as a child, 50 yrs later finally get back to Victoria, nothing changed! food delish best vanilla slice ever!!????
Pumpkin pie was delicious, 10/10 would devour again
Real dutch pasteries and lunches
Loved it there, good breakfast with tasty raisin bread, nice option. Picked up bakery tarts on way out, nostalgic feel with its pictures and history. Server was sweet! Took our 2 sons age 9 and 11, loved the food
Looking forward to going back there. Lots of yummy treats to eat.
Great place The deserts are to die for
FINALLY! A quality Clubhouse sandwich! Thank you Dutch Bakery. My heart is full
Favorite place????
Great bakery and lunch spot.
A Victoria classic that never disappoints. 4 generations of my family have been delighted by this family owned and operated downtown jewel. Food is great, and the prices are affordable. The pastries here put others to shame, and keep us coming back for more, even though we have to take a couple of ferries to reach you. A big thank you from my family to yours.
Favourite Bakery in B.C. In the past 40 years my wife and I have lived all over the province. Whenever I had business in Victoria I would bring back Dutch Bakery dollar roles.
Great place for bite to eat or to grab a snack to go while picking up your dessert!
Great cookies!
I really enjoyed their savory meat pies (beef or turkey filing). The pastry used for the surrounding crust is ideal and crumbles in the way it should. Very tasty! Not such a fan of the sausage rolls however.
Exquisite service and preparation. Well portioned and most appetizing.
Best breakfast in Downtown Victoria. Incredibly friendly staff. And last but not least they have delicious baked goods. Love this spot.
friendly good place
It's a diner. Nothing fancy here, you get your basic breakfast. It's quite amusing because they seem to have many breakfast items but they are all variations on the same thing. Toast, eggs & ham, just arranged different ways. But, what they do, they do well and at pretty decent prices. If you just want a basic breakfast, do come here. This one is recommended. (Just don't be expecting anything different or unusual here)
This place is more than a bakery . its a reason to live abother day in a cruel world . shakky oldsters down pastries with gusto . oldtimie prices match oldtimie decor . build for pentioners budget , let us all partake and rejoice.
Love their vegetable meetball soup only 3.75 wonderful desserts
Awesome food and friendly staff
Not the friendliest service (no smiles of genuine acknowledgement the times I've gone) but the pastries are ok !
Great place for baking and great breakfast ????????
Can't say enough good things about this place. Great diner, delicious cinnamon buns definitely worth it if you are looking for a decent breakfast.
Best treats and eats
Great bakery with amazing products. Although I am not a sweet fan, I regularly visit here. Their breakfast is nothing that will win food awards, but is the best priced high quality breakfast in the city.
Place for some nice pastries or a good breakfast.
Shop keeper is more like ,my uncle, know this place for years and years. All their food are made with love and care. Food heaven, do not miss this little heaven.
Wonderful staff, amazing baked good and a great place for breakfast!
l purchased a cake for a birthday. great selection! staff super helpful and gave me plenty of options, l didnt feel rushed and l actually ended up purchasing some sweets too. l loved the elephant ears! l am not very fond of sweets but l actually enjoyed them, will definetly come back again!
Come here everything we visit victoria from Vancouver. Never dissapoints
Excellent will go again
The family's favorite place for there cakes ????. Great prices to.
Not into baked goods but looked nice
Delicious food and great service.
Enjoyed our lunches. Delicious lunch and baked goods!
They have the best pastries around!
If you are ever in Victoria BC make sure you go here for coffee and pastries and cakes.
Best bakery in town
Food and bakeries were ok but the staff was so horrible rude. I will never go there again.
From New Zealand on holiday. Found this lovely bakery which we ordered a Turkey pie for my wife and a tuna melt for me. Lovely food atmosphere and comfortable. Thanks
Speedy service, delicious food!
Cozy coffee shop with amazing meat pies and desserts. Friendly staff!
This place is an exercise in willpower.
Love it here
Amazing, so fresh, warm and melt in your mouth!
Delicious dessert treats! Great service!
Great food.
Fantastic! Always a good time!
Great coffee place and so many treats to choose from!!!
Very good afternoon tea party!
They have good treats and prices are good.
I always get the Vanilla Slice and the dollar rolls
I was shocked at the horrible customer service in the bakery. The woman who served me was incredibly rude, and very short with me. There were only two other people in the bakery, and yet the service was quite slow. When I commented on the horrible service to my friend, the lady beside us agreed and went on to say that the woman who had served her (as well as myself) refused to give her a fork and therefore was eating her cake with her fingers. I will most certainly think twice about going there again.
Food was AWESOME !!!!
Great food!! Friendly family atmosphere.
Yeah baby! Breakfast and a coffee for under $10! Soup like grandma used to make. All about them croquettes.
Perfect
Always yummy.
All the food and deserts are amazing and its a good idea to have a lunch with the family
I,ve been coming to this clean, well organized Bakery and Cafe since I was a wee child with my mother. We always enjoyed a Vanilla slice but as the years carried on my mother enjoyed her own Vanilla slice and I succeeded in trying the Black Forest Cake. The bakers are so friendly along with all the waitresses and front end staff in the bakery dept. Their meatball soup is to die for. !!!!!!!
Nice and straightforward menu. Good pastries.
Good food interesting place
Best cakes and pastries in Victoria! Friendly staff -- stop in at the diner and get served by Johanna (excellent service, always!)
(Translated) Definitely worth a visit. The Dutch hospitality spirit is still there. Highly recommended to drink coffee or have breakfast / lunch. Top tent (Original) Zeker de moeite waard om te bezoeken. De Nederlandse gastvrijgeid is er nog steeds. Een aanrader om koffie te drinken of lekker te ontbijten/lunchen. Toptent
Food was great but some things on the menu r outrageously priced!
Always great food.
The best breakfast in Victoria
Must try items from the Dutch Bakery: vanilla slices, almond danishes, lemon loaf, Goldstreams, half-ways, dollar rolls (only if you love marzipan), chocolate dipped shortbread cookies, sausage rolls (best!), cheese swirl crackers and meat pies. The cakes can be dry and I can’t speak to the chocolates as I have not tried them. I have not tried everything yet but really want to try the raisin bread. The diner is ho-hum and mostly seniors which is great if that’s the vibe you’re looking for. I would recommend taking the above listed treats to go. Their website needs more descriptions and not list all products are listed.
I gather that the handover to the 3rd generation is complete without any oversite.... In the last six years the prices have increased to the level of a tourist trap. The product is smaller and the original recipes have been abandoned for a cheap sugar fix..... Our family has been a customer for about 50 years and that includes myself 45+ years. We use to buy here weekly and about 5 years ago we noticed things going downhill and started visiting less.....I don't know what the issue is....as I am not a fly on the wall. I hope they figure it out as it would be sad to see this icon disappear..... I am not alone in this belief as many long time friends stopped going here years ago..... The pastries purchased this week were expensive and horrible..... IMHO
Excellent food! Amazing bakery!
Busy but good pie and really friendly service.
Wonderful old school restaurant that still makes a great breakfast at a fair price.
I have enjoyed going here for many years. Great place for a sandwich or breakfast and save room for a dessert or pastry. I love the lemon cream pie and my husband loves the mocha point cake. We even got our wedding cake here and all the petit fours for our celebration. Also the service is friendly even though they are busy.
A long time favorite. Good quality cakes and pastries. Very affordable prices. Highly recommended.
The staff here are unimaginably sweet and efficient. The food is great everytime, and it's not hard to see why this little shoppe has survived through all the adversity thrown at it, standing strong since 1956. A true Vancouver Island gem that I always miss when I'm away. Try the almond Danish early enough in the morning and it's still warm (and always mouthwatering)!!
Very busy place awesome service. The wrap I had was very very good. Complimentary pastry today. Made my day!
Fantastic. Service was good and the food was great.
Always a treat!
We enjoyed warm, fresh and delicious breakfast in cozy environment. Service was great, if u r in Victoria, must try out.
Enjoyed a nice lunch out on the patio! Food was quite scrumptious and the pink haired waitress was absolutely stunning ye. Service was fabulous and I would come back every single day and order choccy milk.
Very happy experience with this bakery. My place is far from downtown Victoria, however they kindly delivered my order. Most importantly, the cake and cupcake are the best in my life. Thank you again
Yesterday in Victoria we bought two chocolate bread cakes that looks so delicious brought them home to Scottsdale Arizona I just took a bite of one and on the bottom on both are very very burnt!! Sooo disappointed
The breakfast is pretty good, but that's not why we went. Their pastries were amazing! We had the Vanilla Slice and the Chooate Eclaire - absolutely delicious!
Wonderful memories of dining in the restaurant. The meat pies and beef croquettes! Totally divine. The pastries are all excellent too!
Good coffee, decent cookies. Looking forward to try some cakes next time.
Very delicious baked goods and a nice restaurant too with great service. I'll be back. Best raisin bread around.
Great place for dessert. I would recommend that this place for cake and pie.
Mom has been coming here since she was a teenager. Her grandmother brought her here the day it oened. The food is always good. She has the Croquettes and the Black Forest Cake.
