My one and only experience the other day turned me off the place. Ordered a couple of deserts to go. Had to throw both the peanut butter square and scone out. Tasted like something other than food spray had been used on the pans and there was a crunch I am not familiar with in the peanut butter square. Very disappoionted.

A great little place for a quick bite. They offer a number of daily specials as well as a daily soup. The menu features some traditional Portuguese dishes as well as burgers, sandwiches and breakfast items. The Bitoque was delicious!

Great spot in esquimalt for comfort food as well as Portuguese specialties. For some Portuguese cuisine, try their linguiza sausage and boteque sandwich.

The baked goods menu varies and the service is subpar, but the sausage rolls are really really good. You will never have a grocery store one again.

Good food. They're looking for additional staff to stay open longer <3

Colin Roberts

Great burger and fries for less than 10$. They weren't in a hurry to take but order but when I did it was served quickly and was hot and delicious. There are no stairs to get inside but the entry isn't totally flat (the rise is about an inch high). Tables inside are both table and bar heights, outside is typical patio/cafe style furniture.

I didn't use these guys for catering so maybe that's their strong suit. I went in right when they opened, like any other morning commuter, for a quick ready made breakfast item and coffee a couple of days in a row; and the impression I get is that they just don't really care. No good morning, no hello, no chance for a conversation (there was no one else inside and no one behind me in line). I tried. I said good morning and smiled. I wasn't a sour puss. They didn't have a selection for ready made breakfast foods (just cakes) so when I asked for savoury ready made items I was met with a straight faced stare and a "no". Okay then. A smile and a hello would have gone a long way. If you don't have what I need I'm okay with it, just be friendly! Or if it's not ready yet because I came in right at opening that's fine too, just explain that!

Great Portuguese lunch stop. The bread/buns here are delicious and the traditional meat is excellent. I'm not a sweet tooth, but they have very nice looking pastries and desserts.

We had the natas and sausage roll. Sadly for a Portuguese bakery the nata wasnt very good, crust or filling.. did not seem fresh. Sausage roll on the other hand was well above average.

We hired them just to get a few dishes of takeaway for a casual family event. Everybody said the food was delicious and the portions were large. I especially liked the chick pea tuna salad, and the potatoes can't be missed. The portuguese chicken was very good as well.

WOW! We hired Casa Nova for our wedding and are very, very pleased that we did. They decorated the hall that we had rented. They turned a plain looking hall into a work of art! They combined all of our wedding colours, and had them placed so that it was eye catching, but never too much of any one colour. We got compliments galore on how the place looked. They also had great suggestions for the design, and took what we wanted and implemented it perfectly. Now for the food. Again, we had many people come up to us after and say that it was the best food they have EVER had at a wedding. And we both can certainly agree. They helped us choose what plates to have so we could make everyone happy, and make everyone happy we did! The food was delicious, the service was amazing, the staff were so polite and efficient. I would hire Casa Nova again in a heart beat. They are the most professional, polite, knowledgable company around. Outstanding service! Thank you so much Casa Nova for making our big day so amazing and special!

This is a real gem. Open for breakfast and lunch. Everything is pretty much fresh , well presented and well prepared. John's Portuguese Buns are the best in the Country. The Portuguese pastries are exceptional! Love the Oyster Burger! Portuguese Omelettes are amazing. John makes his own Chorizo, mild or spicy. A real Mom and Pop place, more than five stars.
