We were driving to Niagra Falls and wanted to get a coffee at somewhere that wasn't a Starbucks - thought we'd try this place. There is too much stuff here to try everything - pizza, lasagna, Italian sandwiches, fantastic looking pastries... pretty much anything you can think of. The Americano was a typical Americano, the Italian sausage was good, and the service was excellent. Might never be in Niagra Falls again but will stop here if I am!

Came in for a late lunch and it was excellent. Service and staff were great. The sandwich I had was delicious and correctly priced compared to the overpriced tourist food in the area. The desserts and pastries looked a bit dicey so I didn't try any, but otherwise a nice and quiet spot to eat some delicious food

Was told this was the best bakery in town, told he had lots of donuts, cookies and pies. There was no pies, cookies or donuts. All they had was a fee cream puffs, eclairs, Minami bars and bread products. I had to go to the Metro Bakery on Drummond Rd for pies. Won't be returning to this bakery anytime soon

Pecan tarts were lacking the filling.. crust was dry and horrible.. grab 2 tarts and 4 other pastries.. What a joke.. $ 2.75 for a tart... when i could get 6 for $5 anywhere else .... 3x the filling and nice and soft... The Total came to $18... for a box of junk..

Recently much better service but too many disturbing experiences lately. Months ago young man with facial hair carry out unwrapped bread stacked up to his chin to the rack! Saw them drop and unwrapped loaf on the floor, picked up and put back on rack! Got cherry squares couple months ago, rancid! Mentioned to girl, who appeared to be charged, "probably the lard, new bakers", "sorry" bought 4 all bad. Come to NF once a week and usually stop but questionable at times. Today did, bread, hot cross buns and my husband's treat for me, 2 cherry squares. Got home, wow, they look like they came from 2 different places, 1 skinny 1 fat. I give up and the price is ridiculous! Too many strikes!!

I still haven't figured out why this bakery is called Portage--they aren't located on Portage Avenue! But that's the only mystery. The bread is freshly baked in house and the smell is as inviting as the taste is delicious. They sell some Italian groceries, too, as well as sliced deli meat and cheese. Tucked in the back they have a small cafe where you can eat one of their freshly made-to-order sandwiches. It's a busy place, and the bread sells out quickly. Business is brisk, not a place to chat with the cashier, but if you're in the market for freshly baked Italian bread, this is your place. No door opener. Narrow aisles

Great variety. Pricier that Toronto bakeries but understandable as not as many in Niagara Falls. A little confusing as they want you to pay for pastries 1st, so better to shop around 1st then get pastries at the end, before you pay.

Clean store and friendly staff. Amazing bread and goodies. So much to choose from. There is a hot table where you can grab lunch and soups which are handmade on sight. Authentic espressos and cappucciono. Definitely worth the visit you wont be sorry.

Great bread but the shelf and refrigerated items are increadibly OVER PRICED ! ex Italian sausages reg. $6.99 Portage sells $10.99. RIO Tuna reg. $4.99 Portage sells $8.99. I think because of the high price items are also old. Would never buy shelf items there.

Ordered catering in advance. The food quality was good and they were able to put everything together with relatively short notice. We received a "pickled vegetable" platter (giardiniera) a small meat and cheese platter (3 meats, 2 cheese), 2 dozen buns (assorted) and 12 desserts (with condiments). At first, I only received the meat and cheese platter. Then the other items came. I only received 1 dozen buns initially, and had to ask for the other amounts. The total was over $150 dollars. I get that it is homemade, but the amount of food for that price was not worth it. You would be better off getting sandwiches pre-made. Overall, the quality was there and on the phone they were nice. However, from a value perspective, it was not great. I would possibly go back, but not get catering.

What a find in the usually "chain oriented" restaurants cafe's in Niagara Falls. A true and simple Italian bakery with a more than decent selection of sandwiches, lasagna and pizza. And excellent espresso...I had a wonderful lunch as I was wandering the area as I didn't want to park near Table Rock. Finished off my lunch with a nice espresso and couple of different canoli's. To hell with the calorie count - certain things need exclusions, that too when made this well. A must visit if you're looking to be away from the glaring lights of the main falls area.

Great little Italian-style bakery run by a family and frequented by locals. They have reasonable prices and very friendly service. We had a nice lunch of deli sandwiches and some hot food. Don't expect fresh vegetables, but do expect good selection of cured meats, sugary pastries, and smiles.

Whenever I'm in the Falls, I make an effort to visit. I go here with a focus on baked goods but they also have a great deli and other items. There is an amazing selection of pastries. This is the real deal, not like the big supermarkets. The staff are very friendly and the store is clean. Check it out for yourself. You will not be disappointed.

I literally just ate the BEST DONUT I have ever eaten in my 40 years! These custard filled, cinnamon-sugar coated pieces of Heaven are quite possibly made by the Good Lord Himself. I don't know what they are called but if you ask them for the best donut ever made, hopefully these are what they give you. No overly sweet, not too rich, but light, fluffy, custardy greatness. Thanks to Bob Ricci for bringing them to work!

Good Bread provided it's fresh. Date squares have been stale 2 X purchased and the Romano Cheese my wife just brought home was a lump of white mold packaged over a month ago. I would like to bring it all back but not worth the mileage on a vehicle. Will not be back!

Unassuming place from the outside but what a gem! Made-to-order sandwiches (so many choices of meats!), delicious sweets (try the cream puff!) and an assortment of freshly-baked biscotti. We stopped by in the morning to get sandwiches and sodas for a picnic, then returned in the afternoon for cappuccino. Very friendly people!

honestly one of the worst bakeries ive ever been to. I was going away for the weekend and wanted some fresh cold cuts for the way and as soon as i walked towards the lady and asked her if she can cut fresh for me she told me that there is already cut and that theyre not cutting anymore for the day, i then asked the lady at the cash what time the chac closes and she said we are cutting until 3:30 and it was ONLY 1:00PM. Also the bread is never fresh. If you ask them to make you a sandwich they give you a lot of attitude and are almost mad at you for asking for one...

Easy and accessible bakery. This shop doesn't give us a fancy super store feeling. Just you will get what you want. Pastries, baked cookies, breads, cakes, candies crisps etc available for a good value. Good thing is these available for fresh. They also have ice cakes. All good and yummy. They can make the place to look little better.

I went on Jan 12, 2019. Staff was so helpful and patient with me with me I was so indecisive, too many choices from the hot table and I was hungry! I love charcuterie and really desired one I seen on their website, realistically you need to pre order. This wonderful lady took the time and exceeded all my expectations to create a wonder platter of Italian meats and antipasto and gave me everything to take it back to my hotel room to put it together.

An absolute disgusting and dirty bakery. We came to Niarga Falls for my sons 15th birthday, and wanted to celebrate with some nice pastries; wow we’re we in total disgust. When we purchased the pastries they were stale, hard and disgusting. What a total fail for my sons birthday celebration. In my opinion, I think the ministry of health should pay a visit to the bakery, so they can see a very dirty place, and terrible products being sold. They should be ashamed of themselves.

This has been one of my familiy’s favorite bakeries for many years. The service is always great and quick and the products are of great quality and price. Everything is freshly baked, they have a wide assortment of delicious pastries and a full service deli. I would highly recomend stopping in for a snack on your way or stocking up on some of your favorite sweet or savoury treats to share with your family and friends! I came in to get a loaf of bread one morning and I was greeted by one of the employees. She was sweeping the floor with the broom (which I presume is dirty and has probably fallen many times on the floor. She asked me if I wanted the bread to be sliced and I said yes. I assumed that she would at least wash her hands before handling the bread. She takes the bread with her bare hands without washing them or wearing gloves and puts it on the slicing machine. Making a conscious effort to be as polite as I can, I asked if she would wear gloves and give me another bread so as to ensure that I would be getting clean bread that I would be eventually eating. This is when she got very upset with me and angrily grabbed some gloves and another loaf of bread and says to me "I've never had anybody ask me to do that before, you should go somewhere else if that's what you want. This is not the place for you." I was shocked and appalled by her rude behaviour, all because I simply requested that she handle my food in a sanitary manner. I will never go back there again.

Portage bakery has the absolute best crusty Italian bread on this Earth! Be careful though, you'll go in for a $3 loaf of bread, and leave with $70 worth of custom, delicious, irresistible treats! If you choose to splurge, it is well worth it! Even the guilt after you finish a box full! They also have a huge selection of deli meats and cheeses, if that is what you are into!

Ordered a butter tart with pecans for myself and a butter tart square (new to me!) for my girlfriend. They were okay, crust was better on the square but it was filled with unadvertised raisins. It was nearly closing time, and we waited 7 or 8 minutes before someone was free to take our order, and when the lady was free she stopped taking our order because someone who arrived after us thought they were ahead and waved to her. She was convinced they were there first, even though we had been there four times longer than the other group (who had lots of questions and weren't ready to order - we were!)

I used to love going to portage bakery all the time and used to recommend them. It is very sad that over the last 5 years they have let the quality go down hill. I have had freezer burnt chicken out of the hot tables four times on separate events it was one of my favorites until the quality went down. I have had bread that used to be amazing taste like I was eating salt. And a bunch of the desserts they have are not even made by them but they claim they are. They also have rea sausage for sale at double the price its sold for else where. Wish they wouldn't have wreck a great thing. Im sad to say that I won't be going back, nor would I recommend going to anyone else
