I've bought black forest cakes from Vienna for a few years now. They are so well done and I always get compliments on how great they taste. I always request "Happy Birthday" written in whatever language the birthday person speaks. In my photos, German and Polish. Vienna Bakery is your go to for a variety of cakes, breads (including pretzels) and sweet treats! Highly recommend this little bakery to everyone who hasn't been yet!

If you enjoy the idea of workers across the province being denied holiday pay, despite being away from their families on those days, then this is the bakery for you. This bakery hosted Jason Kenney while he announced that intention, and openly defended that announcement. If not, then there are MANY other businesses who are far less antisocial, and would actually appreciate your business. Putting customers before politics should never be a difficult choice.

The front door faces 63rd Ave yet you need to approach from 61st Ave. While deciding on what to order other customers continually served; lots of regulars that knew exactly what they wanted. Lots of goods to choose from breads, buns, bagels, assorted cakes, and slices. It smells warm and inviting.

I have been a fan of Vienna Bakery since the "old days" when the bakery was on Stony Plain road. Growing up, part of every Saturday (unless we went skiing) was a trip to the Vienna Bakery. I don't live as close now and I find the location somewhat challenging to get to. However, when I do make the effort to get there, I am consistently impressed by the high quality of all the baking. I think I gain a pound or two just thinking about all the delicious pastries. For me however, the star of the show is the medium rye. My parents now live far away, but I will be bringing a couple of loaves of my father's favorite bread: Vienna Bakery medium rye.

After reading the reviews - I was expecting it to be much and much better. Let's start from positive - great service! Very pleasant and smiley girls! Explained and answered every my question :) and even recommended something that I eventually liked. Another positive - for 5 pieces of pastry I paid just $12! From not so positives... First - schedule. Pretty tough to find time to get there as I also work 8 am to 5 pm office job with frequent Saturdays, and Sundays this bakery is closed. I was planning to get here for couple of months! Second - location. Google maps does not recognize that you have to turn into a small street mall and tells you to turn onto 63 Avenue and then "your destination will be on the right" and all there is - a wall. Had to loop around couple of times to finally get there. Most important - product. Their breads might be good - have not tried, but pastry part... Not as much. Although I did like cherry square and poppy seed square (not a fan of poppy seeds, but this one is definitely good one), but almond square was a complete disappointment - no flavor, very crumbly, and even dipped in chocolate part did not make it any better. Conclusion - hit and miss. Simple pastries, some good, some not as much. Possibly good bread - will come back for that!

Good bakery for your everyday ryes & sourdoughs, and grab a salty pretzel while you’re at it! It’s kind of in a sneaky, unwelcoming environment but the bread is worth it. Get the jalapeño cheddar sourdough, that’s stuff the bomb.

One of my favourite places to buy German buns and pretzels, but I will look for a different bakery in future, because of the owner's support for lowering minimum wage for younger workers. Equal pay for equal work without age discrimination! Having Jason Kenny, the leader of the UPC, announce lower wages from your store is not a way to gain customers in Edmonton.

The eclair was quite tasty and really light. Not too sweet. It had a really nice balance. The elephant ear was amazing. I could eat many of those in one sitting and not even regret it a little. The sprinkle cookie was so so. It was good but nothing special. The shop is super cute and smells amazing. The staff were amazing and very attentive. Would recommend.

Large selection of breads, cookies, and pastries which was great! Everything is also super affordable, I bought 7 items and my total was only $17. However, the couple dessert squares I got were very bland and had next to no flavour which was kind of disappointing.

I usually go to another bakery within walking distance of home, but it is closed for vacation currently. On my quest for a comparable rye bread, I found Vienna Bakery's rye bread to be superior. I also ask those that come here to complain about political views to take it elsewhere. I don't care about politics when assessing a product.

Got the rye bread I wanted!

Some pastries are ok however I found the Bread to be dry. Owners were not found of paying employees minimum wage, which is very unfortunate. Duchess is definitely a better bakery and do more to support their community.
