And im a picky eater but I'll literally try just about anything here n not be afraid:)
Absolutely delicious. Cakes, pastries handmade daily. Quality craftsmanship means they are more focused on there work, dont be offended if they cant help right away, they are busy or taking a break(family owned by looks of it!) Also have a small grocery isle and a freezer full of many fish and even whole crab!!! Diamond in the rough????????
Best bread in the city!
I purchased a spinach feta pastry and it was terrible! Pastry was dry and hard and there was very little filling. I threw it out after a couple bites. I did not try it until I was 30 minutes from bakery otherwise I would have taken it back.
(Translated) Very good. Great goodies. There is a little shop too. (Original) Muito bom. Ótimas guloseimas. Tem uma lojinha também.
Great bread and buns.
Great food, great prices, friendly staff. Love the fresh bread and pastries here.
Awesome fresh baked goods. For something different I would go back. They also have a small grocery area for their specialty foods.
A lotta great stuff..
GREAT PLACE
Always delicisouness!
Best Cornbread in City!!!!!
Great sandwiches & awesome Bread to take home.
I can find most things I need here to cook my avos dishes. Lunch is amazing here too!
GO HERE! Just go and order a dozen doughnuts (get there early) and tell me it wasn't worth it. Amazing staff and incredible eats. There is literally nothing wrong with this place except it's not open late so I can't get more baked goods after I eat the ones I bought earlier.
Excellent staff very helpful and went above and beyond to show products and make recommendations. Great tasting pastries and coffee
Portuguese Foods... best chourico!!!
Must try the fresh cheese! Lovely staff.
Just a great bakery, has a grocery store too, lots is sausage to choose from. The baked goods are some of the best in the city, the treats and cakes are next level. Awesome sausage rolls too. Been around since ‘97 I think, they’ll be around forever IMO a northeast side treasure on 118ave.
Awesome. I almost don't want to share a review because it should stay my little secret. Great bakery, authentic, nice staff.
Love this place! Everything Portuguese
Salted Cod and pastries!
This is one of my favourite niche grocery stores to go to. Frozen sardines, beautiful cheese and chorizo, olive oil and many other great products from Portugal.
Always amazingly wonderful products and wonderful people behind the counter , I've been going there for many years
Amazing breads, friendly staff, delicious tarts
What a great bakery , so many choice of bread and pastries. Salted cod , all kind of fish

Simply amazing. The pastries in the place are the best. They have great coffee, fresh daily soups and lots of traditional Portuguese grocery and foods * If you find this review helpful, please give it a like
Omg. If you haven't been here, do yourself a favor and go immediately. Mornings are best and so is the bread. Much better service than the one down the road too. This place is underrated. ????????
Best bakery on the planet!
You can order your products online and pick them up next day.
First time here, and they were really paitent with me when I was deciding what to get. I ended up way over eating because everything I brought home is absolutely delicious ????

if you havent tried their portugese egg custard tarts, go there now and get some. heaven in pastry. also, one of the better little coffeeshops in town... old fashioned and simple... some great deals around the shop and good quality everything. Go here, skip the grocery store for bread or treats and even deli meats!
Fantastic little bakery/coffee shop. The food was delicious and the prices were very affordable. So happy we stumbled upon this little gem today.
Always great fresh bakery goods
Eating my cake now, so delicious. Everything I've ever bought here has been on point! The customer service is amazing and you'll always feel welcome

My family's a huge fan of their fresh selection of bread. The cashier's/bakers are always so welcoming and nice. Love this place!
Lovely bakery. Can't beat the prices! Quality is usually spot on! Love coming here for a treat. Staff is always welcoming!
Fresh tasty bread and lots of other goodies
Great bakery. Look for traditional portugese pastries and sweets freshly made!
Some of the best baked goods in the city! Forget all the rest. Beautiful people that love making treats at very reasonable prices. Try the Portuguese tarts.

The sweet buns, crusty buns and cakes are amazing. The sandwiches. It's all really amazing. Pastries. Sandwich meat. ♥️
Amazing service, great food, fresh bread and amazing pastries
Sandwiches and a latte for lunch was spot on. Been going here off and on for 13 years. Always helpful staff and great bakes goods made fresh.
Great sandwiches
Great food and nice staff
7 bucks got myself a nice sub. Cut it in half and had lunch for 2day man.groovy!
Great place for authentic Portuguese products
Authentic pastry . I had to reheat the churros and pastries at home. The spinach empanadas was a hit for everyone.
Good place
Place you can find products from Brazil. And great bread.
Authentic Portuguese foods - good bread and excellent pastries.
Deliscous pastrys and the cafe is nice . The little market they have has unique nice portuguese foods too
Fresh breads, delicious pastries and beautiful cakes! As well as friendly service. Love it! Edit: Dropped a star after my husband went to buy our sons first birthday cake here a few weeks ago. The cake was considerably cheaper than the exact same one I had bought two months before which leads me to believe they just price it as whatever they feel like that day.
They make some damn good pastries here
Drive from Calgary just to shop here!
This is a nice neighbourhood cafe. The sandwiches are good, and the coffee is very nice.
The food is very good... Some very unique products. The only draw back is the seamingly grumpy women behind the counter. They tend to skip past people that are not regulars. Maybe it's not that and maybe the fact that they don't have a ticket process or formal line up area. But I've been left waiting while people have come after me at least 3 times now. Oh well.
Best custard tarts (natas) and everyday sandwich bread. Wide selection of Portuguese and Brazilian groceries including salt cod.
Fresh bread, baked goods, select meats. Clean, large European selection.
I had a Genoa salami bun for lunch. They were not skimpy with the meat and heaped it on. Delicious. Will be going back for sure.
Wonderful place with a great selection of tasty delectables. The bakery has many sweets for every taste and the meats and cheeses are varied and fun to browse. Also a large grocery selection.
Such a great place for baked goods. The quality of the home made desserts is amazing and the prices are very reasonable! The staff are very helpful and patient with new people :)
Great bread and pastries!
Awsome
I love food from home.
Staff was quiet but friendly, took time to explain what some of the bakings were. Looks to be traditional style, family owned and run. The prices were decent and foods were well balanced between sweet and other complimenting flavours. Will be coming back :)
amazing food, friendly staff, but tiny crowded tables for eating in.
(Translated) Delicious (Original) Delicioso
Pretty good. Service a bit slow. Not too many smiles from lady serving me.
Great bakery. Despite what they tell you not everything is made in house.
Really good products
Very nice place with great expresso, pastries and great Portuguese groceries!!!!!!
Good ????
I have been to 32 countries and I am saying that this bakery soooo deserves a 5+ star rating! We have been in and bought from bread to baked sweets and have not ever been disappointed.
Tasty goodies!
Old world atmosphere, friendly & beautiful staff with the best marble rye!
Great place - it's a small restaurant and a small store split in two - the food is wonderful!
Great hidden gem
Excellent
Cool
Like the place
Nice place. Locally owned
The cod balls are yummy!
The cod balls are yummy!
I used to like that bakery, but now they are selling expired products and don’t put the expiring date on the cold cuts as can be seen in the pictures. So sad that I trusted, if I go there again I better look the expiring date before purchasing and will just purchase what has the price next, lots of products don’t have displayed price. When I commented with some Canadian, Portuguese and Brazilian people I know they told me they knew that already, really? Before buying any product, especially at Bakery Portuguesa 5304 118 ave, Edmonton, look at the expiration date, of course in other establishments as well, do not do as I do who blindly trusted. I bought ready-made farofa, cassava flour, Waltz Dream Chocolates, mortadella (Portuguese) and Borges sausage (Portuguese), the cold cuts were without an expiration date and the price is not glued, they take back there to weigh and we do not see the weighing, and of the Brazilian products only the flour was within the expiration date, the others expired in December 2021. Many products do not have the sample price (but this also occurs in the Super Store). Here's the tip.
great food friendly staff inviting environment
So excited to try the baking goods! So excellent! Great selection will be back!
Great bakery with fresh bread, cakes and other European imports, if you are making a sandwich I would recomend this place and they make food aswell. has lots of potugese and European products.
Fantastic baked goods, warm service, and unbeatable prices. Their glazed donuts are to die for, and every time I bring them for work or personal functions, people want to know where the heck the donuts are from. Everything is always fresh, and it doesn't break the bank. The owners are super friendly, and it's such a pleasure to go in every time!
Cozy little hidden shop, glad we found it. So many fresh bread options that they will custom cut to your desired thickness. Large dessert selection, with lots of options.
Best custard tarts after Portugal
Nice little bakery, has good buns! Haven't tried a lot of their sweets but the custard tarts are pretty good, and the coconut buns! Also sells some meats and cheese and has a little café where you can get sandwiches. Plus several rows of grocery items.
Love, love, love this store!
Prices are reasonable, the baking is always fresh, and the staff is friendly. Has good hours as well for a local shop.
Great European flare with verity of products
A very sweet place for a quick coffee and chit chat. The pastries are fantastic and the coffee always fresh. The bread smells amazing! Great variety of imported items with exotic names and tastes. And salty bacalao (cod) too. A little taste of Europe in the heart of Edmonton, how precious!
Been going here since I was little. Love their sandwiches and pastries.
Been going there since I was a young one, delicious bread
Good service
My wife is Portuguese, and therefore half of my family is Portuguese, but they always make me feel welcome and I'm like part of their Portuguese family. On top of that they have such an interesting variety of flavors and spices and food. It's just one of my favorite places to go, so we go every two weeks to stock up.
Always fresh an excellent desert s
Wonderful food, helpful staff, skilled bakers, treat yourself with lunch and take some groceries and baking home
Great quality, selection, and prices!
Really good food and price is good. Service is great
Yummy
Nice Portugese bakery, nice sweet and cake, very recommended
Fantastic Portuguese Bakery & Deli & Pastry & Grocery Store. I got a delicious home-made tasting soup and a small sandwich special for $6.20. Incredible. Honest place.
Best spot to get a taste of Portugal in Edmonton.
Nicest people, great fresh sandwiches at an amazing price, and the best Portuguese tarts in the city! I can't help stopping by whenever I'm in the area - even for just a nice cappuccino and a little dessert.
Love the bread and treats.
Delicious!!!!!! Fresh!!!!!!! So good!!!!????
A hidden gem. Delicious Portugese tarts and it has really good capuccinos!
They have delicious, freshly made sandwiches. For the same price as a Subway sandwich , you get far better quality and way more food . Donuts are also good. Prices are great and service is good. I go there about once a month and Inever had an issue.
Excellent portuguese product and service is awsome
Clean. Quiet, small town atmosphere
Tarts taste better each and every time.
The best Portuguese custard tarts (Nata's) on 118th. Whole cakes for $15, and they're good, too. Sandwiches. Lots of great stuff. Cheap.
Love this place. The breads are amenzing specially the rosca, a bit of Brazil in Edmonton.
A good example of Portuguese baking.
Down to earth..friendly...Portuguese foods...fresh bread and pastries... great sandwiches and coffee...what more is there to say...Obligato.
Excellent products and cs
So good! Sandwiches were great, donuts were probably the best I've had in Edmonton
Always delicisouness!
Amazing baked goods - pleasant staff - great pricing
Fantastic Portuguese Bakery & Deli & Pastry & Grocery Store. I got a delicious home-made tasting soup and a small sandwich special for $6.20. Incredible. Honest place.
Lots of variety and very friendly staff.
This is the greatest secret in Edmonton. Outstanding pastries and breads, excellent sandwiches. Real old-world feel.
There is so much varieties here and all are osm . The bread and pastries are yummy . The place was beautiful and the atmosphere is cool. The price of the good is affordable. Overall nice bakery
Love this place. Great Portuguese food and grocery. looking for something close to home this is definitely where you should go.
Just wonderful! One of the few places I know you can get pasteis de Nata and they're just so good! Took a bunch to work and they were an instant hit, and very fairly priced to boot!
My husband and I stopped in for a little treat. I’d heard about this place on the radio and wanted to check it out. I was mostly after the Mil Folhas however, I didn’t know what they were called. They were my favourite treat as a kid but the only other place I’ve tried them at has been at the Chinese bakeries. They’re similar, but not great. The Chinese bakery mil folhas are insipid. I was pleasantly surprised to find them here and they didn’t let me down. We bought a dozen of a variety of pastries. We liked most of them except the Eclairs, they were slightly stale and they tasted like they’d been in the fridge a little too long. They’re kept on the right side of the puff pastry little cones with the white stuffing. If you buy the puff pastry variety you should be good. They’re nice, flaky and messy to eat, but so worth it!???? The kids liked the strawberry and lemon tarts too. if you buy a dozen items it’s $14.95, they’re $1.50 individually. We will be back to try other items maybe even some bread and sandwiches and a nice hot espresso.
Great food, great prices, friendly staff. Love the fresh bread and pastries here.
A must see when you are in the neighborhood. They have yellow and white corn bread, beautiful huge loaves of sourdough, rye. The prices are very inexpensive for the bread. They will make a deli sandwich for you fresh and a cappuccino to eat in. Canned Portuguese sardines, squid are delicious and sold here. They sell ceramic plates. Cream puffs, egg tarts and so much more.
Welcoming and delicious!
Nice baked goods. Little cafe to have coffee/tea in with your baked food and watch the traffic.
The tarts are off the charts. This place is amazing and worth the trip.
Best buns. Supee Friendly service. Can't wait to try it for lunch.
Delicious
I bought Portuguese cheese and I am very disappointed with the quality of the service. It is not the first time that they have cut into pieces what is not edible.
Celia is the best! Happiest and friendly gal at the counter, very helpful.
I am so happy to be able to share my love of this bakery. I was an 18 year old struggling student, I would goto the Portuguese Bakery on 95 street, back then, the best sour dough buns and jelly filled bizmarks ever, ever. I moved away, but am back in edmonton not far from the newer location, on 118 ave, I'm 55 now, and am so gratefull they also moved to the current location. The food and friendly staff, better than 40 years ago. My love to the staff. Thank you so very much!
The desserts looks very old style but their bread is good
Very yummy bread and pastries!
Wonderful spot.
Great bread
Excellent products and service!
A cute little dine in area on the corner of their store. Friendly staff.

Super friendly staff. Delectable pastries. Will visit again.

Authentic Portuguese baking as well as Canadian favourites. Lovely Portuguese cheese too!
Service is slow . Needs a renovation it’s oldand outdated . Prices are a little high for the community standard when shopping elsewhere.
Great food great costumer service. Their buns and bread cant be beat
Yummy goodies as always!
Always fresh baking, good selection. Only place I find caramel custard.
Love it!!! Simple straightforward lunch. Feels like stepping back to the past with prices to match.
Still the best brownies I've had in a very long time! ????????
The best home bakery in Edmonton, they don't have fancy pastries like the Duchess, but what they do, they do well. A big box full of happiness for $20!!
Amazing and affordable. Everything there is good.
Everything is so delicious and decently priced.
Very nice. Great persons good foods
Nicest Fresh Bread I have found in Edmonton.
Excellent products and cs
Food good with great prices; friendly staff.
The buns I ordered were supposed to be sour dough but we're not and my price if cake I ordered was very dry as like it was sitting there for days but once I got into the actual cake that was not exposed to the air it was moist but you can't go wrong for 10 loads of bread for 14.99
Best breard around
Large variety of fresh breads and buns sliced the way you want. We usually buy sourdough and marble rye if they're not out. Extremely reasonable prices. We live 2 hours away and found it's the best place to buy fresh bread and buns so far.
Unique quality of very tasting breads and pastry at reasonable prices... and more. Still going strong and unique!
They jumped in and delivered to our neighborhood during the lockdowns it was great and hopefully helped them get through this difficult time. All the baking is great.
It was busy Thursday afternoon as this was the day before Good Friday. I was really happy to be able to get a few amazing treats as I live in Calgary and don't have any Portuguese options. The lady that helped me was a real gem and was able to make my visit a great one. I will definitely do the drive to Edmonton yo pick up some amazing food.
Awesome naked goods.
Great prices and very good bake goods
Always love this place for 20 years
I love this bakery. Great prices and delishous goods
The Portuguese Canadian Bakery is the shining star of the neighbourhood. Delicious Empeñadas, bread, cheesecake, custard tarts, and other delightful pastries at a decent price. They also do fresh sandwiches, cappuccino, lattes, etc. An excellent variety of meats and cheeses, as well as specialty imported goods; they always have fish. The staff are very friendly.

Awesome place to visit for day to day needs, quick snack or fancy pastries/appetizers for a good party. Friendly, helpful staff with well stocked shelves offering a variety of products. Their deli counter is small but perfect, highly recommend grabbing a fresh sandwiches, cheap, huge amounts of meat and cheese very tasty. Please support local and homemade industries! Excellent food
They're ok. The baked goods are ok
Assorted variety of pastry . Yummy selection
Our son married a sweet Portuguese girl who introduced us to this store and their great breads. We do not live in Edmonton but make special trips to this wonderful bakery. As we are forced to self isolate we have to resort to local grocery store breads. I wish this bakery would deliver until this world curse disappears. Stay safe everyone and may God bless.
Great place, my kids love thier macarons.
Fantastic Corn Bread and other baked goods. Very good deli meats and excellent selection of European non-perishable items.
I always feel very welcome shopping here. Great sandwiches and doughnuts. For a great price. My brother always insists on coming here for a deli lunch whenever we are in the area!!
Great cheese, awesome selection of hard to find goods.
Best portuguese tarts in the city..on Saturday though often run out..get there early
Fantastic baked goods, and very interesting food selection.
Fantastic pastries, cakes, coffee, breads, sandwiches, etc!!!
Unbelievable - I bought a dozen of their bulk buns as I thought they would make good hamburger buns. When I got home I found someone at the bakery had sliced them in the middle from the top down. When I came back and told them that they as much as said I was lying. As I said... "unbelievable"!
If you like fresh and delicious bread that's the place to buy it.
We only buy our bread from here. The pastry is great also
Good products and prices
Fresh bread!
This attendant was incredibly rude, I wanted flan but she kept saying we don't call it that we call it tart, regardless I'm buying it so she should have just helped me. Asked her if She had a TART which is bigger then what she's showing me and she didn't understand. Tried explain it again but she just kept being rude, the more I tried to explain the more she kept getting rude and snippy, as if this young attendant doesn't like her job or is fed up. Seems to me like she was racist and and the other attendants were just watching me and her. IF YOU VALUE GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE, PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST.
Go there every week for the fresh buns and the deserts are incredible, hard to leave without picking something out. The atmosphere is friendly and old school i love going there.
I'm so glad we found this place. Lots of delicious treaties. Ask for their fresh cheese.
Wouldn't back there product. My rye bread went bad after 2 days. Was going there for over 6 months, they wanted it back. Like I'm gona lie for 3 bucks
If you are from Brazil or are Portuguese you gotta check it out. They have salted cod at good price. Cassava flour. Tapioca flour. Cocinas. Cod fritters(bolinha bacalao) good pastries friendly staff.
Love this bakery.
Good selection of baked goods, we especially love the bolo rei. You can also get some grocery items there as well
Great Bakery goods
Delicious baked goods and very friendly service!! So happy to have them in the neighbourhood
Excellent products, very friendly staff
I’ve been 30 years frequenting Portuguese bakeries since I married a Azores’ woman. I have been to this bakery numerous times as well as the one farther west. I am disappointed in the quality of both the goods and the service. It’s a terrible thing that I have to go to the Italian bakery to get better quality Portuguese goods. The Natas I purchased were on the same level as an egg tart from the TNT Center. I can bake better Natas. The service was sub par The attendants are Young and uncaring for a service position. Perhaps some pride in the history of their heritage would do them some good I would guess that they aren’t second generation otherwise their parents would have done better
Great sweets, amazing bread, and tasty bifana! This is a real deal neighbourhood deli, bakery, and grocery. No hipsters to be found and prices can't be beat. Hidden gem!
Authentic Portuguese quality.
I SO wish I could be as positive about this place as others have been. Maybe it was an off day for the staff, but I walked in for the first time ever being there and there wasn't a friendly hello, just a stare from a lady behind the counter. I tried to be friendly and asked questions, told them I've been wanting to come for a long time. Bought the bavarian cream filled pastry and a coconut covered custard tart. Really no flavor to it. Wasn't bad, but def. wasn't outstanding. All in all, decided I wouldn't go back there. Will try Duchess bakery downtown and see if staff are friendlier. In this day and age, you can't afford to turn off customers. Oh well.
Excellent sandwiches. Definitely worth checking out.
Great place. Love the baked goods, especially the sweet bread and buns.
Awesome place
Excellent food, deli, bakery and service. Inexpensive as well. The best of all worlds.
Such a cute little local place with an amazing selection of products to choose from. Friendly, efficient staff. Glad I stopped in. Will go again!
Excellent coffee and deli
