I came to this typical German-Canadian bakery for their torte; it was pretty good, but next time I would try something else. -- "Mimi's Cake Tour"
Terrible service
Great service, yummy pastries
Great place to find fresh buns, pretzels and breads of many varieties (rye, multigrain etc)
The bread is awesome but cakes are not as good as as the bread. We bought seven layer chocolate cake for $50 it looked very nice outside it suppose to be the best cake in the store (as we were told) but inside the cake was dry and not delicious
My husband picked up a blueberry pie this week and it was delicious! I don't really even like pie and I had 2 pieces! Impressive ????
Fabulous German baking, breads, cakes, pies and more! Lovely people too.
Great selection of pastries, cakes and bread
Im not one to post reviews on places i dont like but i feel like people should know. I bought an overpriced 6 inch black forest cake and was severely disappointed. I didnt think that anyone could mess up such a simple cake. The cake was extremely dry and they must've run out of sugar that day or specially catered it for diabetics. The cake pretty much had some whipped cream between layers with an abundance of cherries to make it look fuller, im assuming. Ive also never tasted whipped cream so awful , it stuck to the roof of my mouth and tongue even minutes after eating the cake. Instead of getting the black forest here, id recommend getting 3 at walmart/ safeway for the same price of one here that tastes 10x better
I'm sorry to give a bad review but it Really sucks that you don't update your business hours. Here it says you are open till 5:30 pm weekdays, whereas you lock your door and don't answer phone from 4:30pm. I could have saved a hustle for myself dashing through the city, thinking that I'd still will have almost an hour for shopping at your place, just to run into this frustration.
Amazing pretzels and more
Love the German baking and cheerful service! Just wish it would open at 8.
Fresh breads, rich pastries - what's not to love? If you want to get your hands on their cinnamon swirl bread, get here early - it goes FAST!
Great pretzels!
Tasty food
Too many amazing European treats to pick from.
Love this place. Its like walking into a memory. The food is amazing. My only issue, like all bakeries it is closed Monday's.
The cheese pretzel buns are amazing! The desserts are good and need to come to room temperature before you eat them to be at their best. I will say that we ordered a torte for the next day and even though the buttercream icing was great, the actually cake was very dry. Needed some simple syrup or coffee drizzle.
Super delicious cakes and pastries.
The owners truly care about their products and the quality of ingredients show in the taste and texture of everything I've bought there. Pro tip: get there early on Friday for the cheese pretzel buns!
LOVE this bakery! This is my family's favorite Bakery in all of Edmonton, we've been coming here for more than 20 years. They have the most amazing pastries and breads. The Sovital bread is wonderful, and we order the 7 layer torte for pretty much every birthday.
One of the best bakeries in the city hands down. Love to get their braided sweet bread (otherwise known as zopf)... And they also have fresh pretzel buns which are yum. They also carry a small selection of imported confectionery, but mostly specialize in fresh baked good...if you come, come early, they sell out of the good stuff fast...be warned, you'll spend more than you planned once you go in... So many good things to buy ????????????????
Ordered a dobos torte for my birthday, and was very excited about it, only to be let down. I showed up to pick it up today and it didn’t have the traditional sugar caramel hard top- the very thing that makes it a “drum” cake. They told me that I had to specify that I wanted the hard top when ordering, yet no one on the phone told me that was a “specialty” order. I’ve never even heard of a dobos torte without a hard top before! If you google dobos torte, ALL of them have a caramel hard top. I have been having dobos torte for my entire life, and never once has it not had the caramel top. I already had a terrible birthday week because of very unfortunate events in my life, and this dobos torte was all I was looking forward to. If this German shop wants to make Hungarian cakes, maybe they should learn the actual recipe!!!
Wasn't sure how good this would be as looking at the deserts was, well, it looked like an average bakery. When I got home and took the first bite of one of the cream puffs I had purchased, WOW. That was one of the best I've had. Totally wasn't expecting the burst of flavor! Great little bakery.
Breads are amazing and large selection of baked goods
Great service. Great baked goods - epecially the pretzels! Go there!
Super friendly family business who make tons of great breads and sweets.
A wonderful German bakery in south Edmonton that has been run by the same family for decades. The pretzels are, of course, exemplary along with their pretzel buns (pretzel buns are Friday and Saturday only). Their variety of pastries, tortes and pies are almost overwhelming on what to enjoy first! Danishes and the Quark Cheesecake are my personal favourites. The breads and buns are naturally sourdough leavened and have a deeper flavour because of it. It can be busy on Fridays and Saturdays, but like any independent bakery, it’s best to call ahead if you want something specific. They have such a magical selection that going in on a whim is perfectly fine too!
The products that they bake are very delicious
Brought bavarian pretzels here for my kids and wife. They all loved it. Now I'm a regular customer here. Also liked their coffee too! Great service and place.
This is the most amazing bakery. Their cakes are the best in the city. The staff is so friendly and you really feel like they will do anything to make sure that you get exactly what you want. I special order all of my cakes and buns from here. Try it! I promise that you won't be disappointed.
way to bakedmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
YUM!! First visit and it was hard to choose what to try first. The lemon Danish is to die for and these cookies are delish!
The pretzels are divine!
Amazing bread and pretzels!
The best german bread, buns and cakes in YEG!
Absolutely adore the pretzels here!!!
Really expensive
Amazing scones, strudels, and danish. Best part of Saturday morning
Absolutely a superb bakery. The cherry kuken is Divine. Call ahead for big orders or you will be scolded
Friendly and courteous, good selection, if a tad pricey. Their artisan breads are highly recommended. Another visit is in order ???? LCA
Great little store. So many choices for loafs and the staff will help you find the exact one you want. I'll be back!
Excellent customer service and great product
a hidden gem, i have purchased almost all of there different pastries and all of them are delicious. im a massive fan. the range of breads is great as well.
got more pretzels and I’m not sure why, we all got stomach ache after eating them. cookies and other desserts not for my taste Didn’t appreciate when I they ignored customers and took some else’s order, someone who got there after me
Where they are situated is alright. Inside the shop always clean. Prices do reflect on the quailty of product. This helps from one over buying. Its too expensive to buy to much and take a chance on it being thrown out. I have been let down a few times in not getting product . Even after showing up an hour after opening. Bakeries are not an easy business to run that I can understand.
checked their website to confirm when they open, drive there only to find a sign on the door, closed for 4 weeks. That's pathetic, wasting your customers time obviously means nothing to them! Enjoy your vacation, I won't be stopping in when you return!
Stopped to say hello to a friend. Left with a couple bags full of fresh baked goods for skiing. I love this place ????
The lady inside that served me was a little rude but everyone has bad days, overall it's still my go to place for any german baked goods.
This is a great little bakery. I've shopped at Artistic Bake shop for a while now - and was first introduced to the place for their fresh-baked warm pretzels. Last night, we presented a good friend with one of their specialties - the 7 Layer cake! It's covered with a layer of chocolate over a covering of marzipan - and the cake has 7 layers of different delicious ingredients. Very friendly people, and great products.
Authentic German breads, rolls, pretzels, cakes...
The best bakery in Edmonton! Try their pretzels and their cheese sticks. So good!
Wonderful staff, delicious food.
There is so much varieties of items are available here all were very tasty and fresh. I like this place. staff was good and pricing was fair

Some great European Rye breads. Pretzels on Saturdays and some very good sweets!
Great shop and excellent selection, great tasting bakery
Delicious
Great rye bread! must try the cheesecake too
Fresh baked greatness. Come for the pretzels stay for a danish. My husband and I both love the cheese twists. The little bit of pepper in with the cheese. Brought my out of town family to this location. Great thing is that the prices are so good you can buy for everyone and not break the bank.
Great selection of authentic German breads and pastries.
Great German bread and pastries

One of the best in edmonton ! But the best danish !!!!!!!!
Wow, the pastry! To dream for???? and the breads nice dense, like a real bread should be. Love it! And so friendly ????????
They have the best pretzels I have ever had... fast friendly service, safe clean atmosphere... it was excellent
Very nice European style breads and sweets
Excellent store. Best breads cakes cookies pretzels in Edmonton. Owner and staff are top notch. You can taste the love and care in each delicious morsel. Thank you.
Cute shop! Friendly staff they even gave my kids cookies! Everything tasted delicious.
We've been buying our bread here for the last four years. It's better than the bread you get in a bakery in Germany. The have plenty of different varieties of it and their buns are just perfect. Everybody should try one of their pastries! Parking is a little scarce if you come on a Saturday morning.
They are absolutely the best! The bread is high quality and healthy. For special occasions I always buy the 9 layer cake with chocolate ganache on the outside. It's sooooo good! The only thing is you have to shop early in the day for best selection. There's usually only a few loaves left by 1200 noon on a Saturday.
Favorite bakery in town, authentic and delicious treats! We usually have a hard time choosing, everything is amazing: breads, pastries, cakes, and pretzels!
Most amazing and delightful baked goods worth every penny. Best black forest cake I've ever had.
Artisitc is a rustic, hearty German bakery. So while you'll see less mille-feuilles and tartes en citron, you'll see an amazing variety of breads like Bavarian Rye, Einkorn, Sovital, as well as a great selection of pastries like almond tarts, strudels, cream horns and the like. The pretzels and buns are great as well. There's also a section with lots of German jams, mustards and other packaged foods. The staff is really pleasant and helpful and seem to do a good job of getting people through fairly quickly. I think the bakery is still family owned which is a nice plus. Honestly, this is tied with Duchess as my favorite bakery in the city. Whereas Duchess is an occasional visit when I want a sugar and creme rush, Artistic is my go-to for treats and bread.
Love the pretzels and the dill pickle cheddar scones to die for.
Stopped by after work and received great service and some of the best bread (black forest rye) I've had in the city.
delicious Multi grain bread
Artistic is hands down the best bakery for traditional german baked goods. Get there early or phone and they will put away what you have ordered for pick up. Always clean and the staff are great to deal with.
I have been here several times, and have always had excellent service and baking of the utmost quality. Get here early, as this is a proper bakery and so they only have goods until they don't. This is a good thing though, as only high quality products sell out fast. The Schinkenbrot is a lovely, dark, moist loaf of a generous size for the price, and is the best I have found anywhere. The sweet bread is exactly how it should be, golden on the outside with a slightly-but-not-overbearing sweetness, and a moist and fluffy but almost flaky interior. The pretzels are wonderfully chewy and delicious, and the cream horns are exquisite and flawless. The staff are always quick yet never rushed and always friendly. Defenitely deserves the five stars for consistently being better than expected, and if I had to pick a downside, the only one would be street parking is limited, but that's really not an issue. Great job and on a side note, they have a super cool door handle shaped like a pretzel!
High quality baked books from bread to fancy pastries. Give them a try the next time you are in the area. If you like scones you need to check out their varieties. Excellent!
Great selection of fine pastries and breads. They also have a lovely selection of scones. Looks like this is going to be my go to bakery from now now.
Bread okay. Prices twice Cobbs.
Amazing pretzels!!
The black forest cake was just ok.
Supermarket quality product at premium prices. Not to mention, half the time I've tried to go this year they weren't open as advertised (online). There are much better bakeries in the area.
Picked up two cream horns today. Very disappointing. Not fresh AT ALL! But charged full price. The pastry was soft and the product had wept on to the paper. So sad as a good bakery is almost non existent anymore!
Greatest bakery in Edmonton and area
I did have trouble getting in toucn with them. I usually leave a message Friday night so my order is ready when I get there Sat. morn. I called many times but I couldn't get the answering machine. The bread and the baked good are wonderful.
Some of the best breads and pastries in town. Never once have I been disappointed with the quality of there baked goods.
Love the pretzel buns
???? YUM!! What more can I say?❤️
Went to this bake shop yesterday because of the good reviews and bought a cream puff and a few cookies. Both the cookies and especially the cream puff were stale. Had to throw them all away.
I love this bakery. Everything is super.
Excellent service. This bakery has been in Edmonton along time under the same ownerships.
Older hard cookies ... second time in a row. My poppyseed was also dry and tasted old. Pretzels ans bread always fresh and good.
Good bread
Great breads, buns, and an assortment of baked goods
They make the best pretzels I've ever had, and they're vegan (for anyone who cares to know). Love this place!
Delicious walnut & cranberry bread! Visit the bakery early morning so u can get the best pastries/breads.
Best poppy seed slices on the southside
Excellent european bread and pastries. The BEST danish !Go early on a Saturday,or phone in your order.Otherwise they will be sold out.
So we arrived at 2:25 knowing they were closing at 3:00 so we had time to quickly make a purchase. We went in and they were very rude. We asked why there was NO baking in the cabinets as this is a bake shop. They said it's Saturday we are cleaning so we can close. I said you don't close until 3:00. They said ya but we don't have baking to serve after we start cleaning up. So my thought is you should close before you start cleaning and if your open you serve duh. Then my daughter and I left the store and my mom was still in the store. A lady came out of the back and said "did they buy anything?" As they had bags of day old bread available. If I could give no stars I would.
Great old school bakery !!!
best bakeshop in the city
Bought three pies for work and everyone liked them. Lots of comments like "best pie I've ever had"
Wonderful bread.
