Delicious
Fresh daily bakery, pizzas, sandwiches, soups & great service and staff
Hidden neighborhood gem
Great baked goods, a go to in downtown Comox.
we only went in for iced coffee but it was delicious and it smelled amazing inside
Great atmosphere and service!
Overpriced, nothing on their shelves when we went in, bought a cinnamon bun that had no cinnamon in it?
We love it here!! Organic sourdough breads baked in a woodfire oven! Spelt bread on Thursdays. We love the muffins, pizza and the bread!
Pretty good
Very delicious and reasonably priced.
I was disappointed to find out they only have day old items on a Sunday. For Day old it was still good.
Loved it here ,great pizza ,nice selection of craft beer and cider.
The scones and the pizza here are so good!
On a side street so this bakery can be a bit of a hidden gem but it is definitely worth the short detour walk up from Comox Avenue. Fantastic pastries like croissants, danishes, jelly filled doughnuts and mocha scones tempt visitors. Regulars go there for the fresh daily loaves of bread which they also make into sandwiches. They also do a brisk business in their pizzas. You can purchase hot and cold drinks so it makes for a nice spot to visit although their seating is limited. I can personally recommend their sourdough bread and multi-grain bread as well as their doughnuts and sticky cinnamon rolls.
I hate to write this because the pizzas they made 10 months ago were fantastic. We just ordered a pizza tonight for take out and they skimped on the toppings big time, maybe 3 slices of olive per piece. I had to search for the feta, and they substituted the advertised Roma for some halved grape tomatoes. Not impressed... ???? I spoke with a family member who also did not have a good experience. They ordered a vegetarian pizza, went to pick it up and they didn't make that type of pizza anymore and substituted chicken pizza... Again very few pieces chicken and toppings. She ended up taking the pizza even though it wasn't what she had ordered and was charged an extra 3$ for the chicken. For a 25$ pizza I expect more, perhaps they should take a page from Riders pizza.
Tried the garlic sourdough bread and their doughnuts and absolutely fell in love with this quaint little place!
Great bake goods!
Great food, thoughtful staff. Good coffee.
Friday afternoon, 4:30pm. I want to order a 16" pizza and are asked if I mind waiting they will have the order ready by 6pm! The kitchen is clearly staffed and someone is baking in the wood oven.
We always buy our sourdough bread here. Sometimes good farm eggs. Lots of bakery selection for snacks as well.
Got a nice loaf of potato bread. It was end of day so there wasn't much left.
Cute and cozy
The pizza is excellent from this bakery. I had to haggle with them to get a 10% discount on my pizza because it was burnt more that usual for a wood fired pizza. I love this bakery but having to haggle for a 10% discount on a burnt pizza really put me off... they should have just offered it regardless.
Great pizza and treats, local beer on tap and friendly staff!
Good baked good. A little pricey, but what isn't that's days.
A delicious place to shop!! Everything I have had is so yummy!!! They even have a stone hearth to cook their ???? pizza in!!!! You need to go in & try the food! You won't be sorry, unless you don't go! ????☺ The Manager is so sweet, you will just love her! She makes some amazing desserts! Toni is the BEST!!!!
The best baked goods in the Comox Valley, bar none! ???? You will not be disappointed. Fantastic baked goods, wonderful aromas and a very friendly staff! Check them out, your tummy will thank you!
Just perfect..
Staff was not very helpful, did not show a menu or offer choices.
Very nice pizza and especially the Nanaimo bar was awfully delicious!
Love this little eatery. The wood fired Pizza is tasty. The coffee is pretty good. Better than lost of places. Will return when visiting the area. Great place to grab a snack before the Saturday 540 at St Peters ????
Lovely authentic bakery with a Firestone stove to make pizza. It's got everything a bakery has to have. Very quiet in the evenings.
Nice helpful staff and good bakery products.
Good baked goods
I'm in love with bread
Absolutely amazing pizzas my friend and I were very pleased with our pizza. Wow.
Delicious treats. Warm and inviting. I want to try the pizza next time!
Local tap beer. Awesome pizza.
Decent baked items. Irregular hours though.
Delicious assortment of baked goods, cheesecake, pretzels, pizza by the slice.
Great pastries and savouries
Great sandwich. Reasonably good at social distancing. Wide variety of food and baked goods. Overall nice place and a pleasant find
Literally the best pizza on the planet! Always will be my favorite pizza place!
We visit the bakery every weekend
Great place for a beer and pizza. Oh, and a Bakery. Pre-made sandwiches make a quick lunch. Donuts from Cumberland Bakery! Recently expanded for more seating.
Whip cream filled doughnuts are to die for, nice place to have pizza out.
Great Traditional Take/Bake on pizza with a Fire Stone oven. Also a tasteful selection of baked treats and sweets. This is a classic for the Valley and a MUST try.
Great service, however we didn't get the kind of pizza we asked for. Still good, but would've liked what we chose as it was intended for the whole family to be able to enjoy.
Delicious food, great coffee and a friendly staff.
Everything here is just plain awesome. Bread is fantastic, and the treats (donuts etc) are amazing. Always leave here happy and with something delicious!
Pizza is awesome and so we're the sweet bars. They have a great menu.
So glad we stopped in here - great pizza. We would have bought a bag of beans but apparently they can't grind them.
Best bakery in Comox no doubt
Great pizza and donuts!
Unbelievable Woodfired Pizza with great beer selection
Fantastic selection and space
Delicious carrot cake and pretzels, sub par mocha, and extremely slow service. Would recommend the bakery, but not the coffee.
I will give Church 4 stars because the cook who covers the boston creme's is an artist and gets the hardness of the chocolate correct. The bad part is the bakery runs out of stuff by 1pm so you have to get in early. I like to sleep in!
Good donuts good pizza good coffee and they have beer!
Oven fried pizza and craft beer PLUS BAKING!
Mmmmmm
The pizza is amazing, but a bit pricey if you are buying it per slice.
Best Donut's in Comox from Cumberland Bakery
Great pizza
I love having some pizza reheated in the wood fired oven with a pint of craft beer while reading the local paper. Just lovely.
Great selection of treats.
You must stop here to get goodies. We purchased croissant sandwiches, donuts, a loaf ofgof multigrain bread to go, and scones/muffins. It was all delicious and we wish we lived closer to eat there more regularly. Top notch!
Awesome Lemon Bars but I found the glazed brioche donuts had an odd taste but this could have been from it being end of day. Would definitely give them a second chance when they were fresh in the AM
Delicious, fresh baked breads and sweets. So yummy. I haven't tried their pizza's or sandwiches yet but that is on the list for my next trip!
Great pizza!
Great baked goods. Sour dough bread only
Best pizza I've had in a long time. Crispy crust, great sauce and just the right amount of toppings and cheese. I ordered in house and waited while it was made. Fantastic! I'll be returning for more.
Excellent doughnuts
Good food, ????????????priced for hipsters, sans decor.
Hidden gem!
Baked goods were half decent , nothing to rave about, staff wasnt the friendliest. Seems a bit over priced for what you get in return.
Amazing food, amazing service with a perfect atmosphere. There was a gorgeous girl named Victoria who helped our group out and she did a perfect job. Would definitely return here
Beautiful daily soups with fabulous sourdough bread. Looking forward to trying the woodfired pizza and yummy baked goods.
Tried to sell us 5 hour old pizza slices for full price. Not impressed. The bread lacked flavour. Wouldn't recommend to families, as you may be feeding super old pizza to your kids without knowing it.
Can’t say too much - everyone will show up and spoil it! Ha-ha. If you’re looking for a quaint bakery with a wood-fired pizza oven (awesome pizza sold by the slice), excellent coffee, sandwiches, patio… GO AWAY!
A real bakery but with local tap beer. pizza by the slice all day made in a wood-fired oven. Lots of sweet treats and nice staff. The famous Cumberland donut s here are best consumed before they cool. Timing is everything!
Delicious bakery items including sweets and savourys for breakfast and lunch. Expensive pizza and craft beer for dinner.
I love everything about church St bakery!! Staff, food, and the smooooothies are always supah fresh!
Very disappointed with the quality of some products, especially the pizza and so expensive.
My favourite shop in Comox
My favorite local spot. Great food and service. Must go in Comox
Love the caraway rye bread fresh from the brickoven...yummm
Number one scratch bakery. The best bread ever and pizza
Great wood burning oven bakery
Awesome service great quality food! Will come again!!!!!!!!
Quality bread.
Awesome.. Yum yum!
Lovely place to hang out with some coffee in front of a Real Pizza Oven! Our boys used to walk down here from school to play some cards while the parents would get some coffee time.
Really delicious donuts and pizza
This is the most amazing place. Food is so delicious. The pastry counter looks like it should be in Paris.
Awesome staff, awesome service, awesome food.
A fine establishment which elevates its surroundings. The pizza found here is nearly unparalleled by any other in the valley, while the pastries and breads compete fiercely for finest in the local vacinity. I must however turn a critical eye (or rather tongue) to their coffee, which is none too exciting. To be sure, it has an uplifting air and is certainly among the best businesses in Comox.
!Excellent pizza! Not bad pastries either ;>
If you want a donut and can't get to Cumberland -- go here! Did you know you can also come here in the evening and order pizza AND beer! They are licensed! Their croissants are delicious -ham and cheese is always a winner. Coffee is great here too.
Delicious baked goods!
Pizza slices were bad value for 5$ small and stale, would recommend buying fresh. Beer was decent, date square tasted like fridge. Will try again later ????????
Love it here, great bread, great snacks, great service. The people who work here are so nice and accommodating and they remember you. Strangely though, their muffins are subpar. Crumbly and not very tasty. But everything else is A+
Very busy and to much on the small side great product but constantly run out great service
Little disappointed in the amount toppings on my Carnivore (13 very small pieces of sausage) for $30. Taste is ok but was hoping for more a specialty/gourmet pizza vs what appears as "name brand" for the price :-(
Order a chocolate croissant the bottom was completely burnt.
Best pizza I'm the world. Absolutely mind blowing.
Decent pizza. Horrible service. Never know when they are open or closed. When they are going to cook pizza and when they arent. Today we called and "as of today" we are only cooking pizza till 3pm.
Church street bakery is amaxing! I know this because I work there! 2 years later and I'm still in love with all the food. We have amazing woodfired sourdough, awesome pizza, donuts to die for. Come on in! Have a beer and pizza and grab treats to take home for your family!
Always a guaranteed happy place - a fave!
Pizza and baked goods are excellent. Unfortunately, I find ordering and paying is always a frustrating experience, and hope they can improve this to create a experience that matches the quality of the food.
Everything I have tried from here so far has been awesome.
Great.pizza and fabulous bread
Bought a Copenhagen thinking it was fresh. When I started eating it I discovered that it had been in a cooler together with savoury goods so had taken on onion/garlic flavour and was stodgey instead of flaky. It was just an overly-sugary onion-flavoured cold carb square which I threw away. Their pizza might be good but I'll never chance them.
I take out of town guests to this bakery for pizza which never disappoints. The pizza is baked in a wood burning oven which adds to the flavour. I especially like their vegetarian pizzas with varying combinations such as artichoke, red peppers, olives, mushrooms. All the breads are delicious.
A great place that smells wonderful
Donuts are great old school treats. Bread is pretty good great pizza crust. They could improve their pizza sauce and toppings to match though
Wood fired pizza is addictive. Meat and spice Brooklyn is a go to. Carnivore is another must try. Pomodour needs spice or add something stronger like peppers. Artichoke hearts are the gift on this one.
We recently moved to Comox Valley and stumbled across this place. It is now a weekly visit of ours. Great food, and great service!! I would recommend it to anyone!!
Awesome pizza, very good rye bread, excellent Service
Please don't share this information with anyone, I'd advise current customer's to keep it hush-hush. Because this place is destined to become more popular then it already is. It is easy to be convinced that the food here comes directly from the heaven's above . The delicious culinary treats offered at this bakery/pizza parlor/cafe can best be described as yummy/scrumptious/delightful. Try a classic pizza combo or one of the culinary masterpieces, by the pie or by the slice. Remember, you deserve to give yourself some treats, so make sure you buy a large bag or two of the heavenly bakery desserts, goods & bread's while you are there. Eat in or take out . The atmosphere is cute, cozy, comfortable. There is ample, though somewhat crowded seating, indoors. There is also outdoor seating, weather permitting. People behind the counter are friendly, helpful & extremely enthusiastic about the food (who can blame them). Solid FIVE STAR FOOD.
Great people
I gotta say I've being a loyal Caraway Rye customer of this Bakery for a long time now. However ,,, my last 3 loaves of Caraway Rye have been over baked to the point of extra crispy ... Call it burnt... and you know, I bought them anyway and took them home and ate them with great disappointment... so my policy is after three times I gotta say something. Pretty please, pull the Rye out of the oven a little bit sooner and I will remain a loyal customer.
Gotta get there early to get the good stuff
Staff was not aware of much. A slow mental state.
New management. More seating. Craft beer. Great soups, artisanal bread and wood fired pizza!
Fabulous bakery. Lots of great items ready to be purchased. Great sales staff. Store is clean, following Covid guidelines. Highly recommend
Great soup, pizza, bread, pastry and beer.
Neat little bakery. Must try their pizza. Friendly staff.
Nice place to grab a snack
Amazing Sourdough Great People Great recipes
Horrible over priced ice cold dried out breakfast scone with an ice cold egg inside. If I could do no stars I would.
Unique homey bakery & cafe
Great wood fired Rye bread! Can't wait to try the pizza next!
Love burnt pizza...Said no one ever!! This is the absolute last time i get pizza from this location they never ever get it right it's always burnt learn how to use that wood oven properly!!! Supper is ruined ????
I’m officially disgusted by the markup they charge on items that honestly are just average. Over the years I have repeatedly tried to give them opportunities to impress me but I continue walking out of there with a sense of bewilderment. It’s insulting, and all this mention around the till about tipping? My guilt over the wonderful server is my only reason to even consider it in the first place but my sense of reason takes over and I realize this is all a ruze. They get her to make you feel like you are doing them a service by ridiculously overpaying. I’m done falling for it. Now I only go there out of need, which is only a few times a year and I only get coffee. Charge what you like Church st but you’re not a welcome sight in my community and you won’t be getting my business anymore.
Some of the best wood fired pizza I have ever had. Great dough!
Good selection of goodies for sure
$4.25 for a small jelly filled donut. Seriously!
We ordered two pizzas (Margharita and Garlic Twist) and a couple of treats and coffee, over $65 total in price. The danish I had was amazing, but the chocolate donut was meh. The layer of chocolate on top was caked on and fell off in one piece when my partner bit into it. Flavour of the yeast donut itself was ok. I've definitely had better. The pizzas were just kind of average. The Margharita was below average: the crust had little flavour compared with what you would expect a wood fired pizza to have. Margharitas benefit from a flavourful long fermentation crust, light basil infused sauce and real fior di latte for richness. This Margharita had a heavily salted overly spicy (hot even) sauce, just bucketed on the pizza, (it was really thick) and tiny pieces of bocconcini (1 per slice), zero basil flavour, and a thick flavourless crust. It really shouldn't be called a Margharita. It was bread with gunky sauce. The Garlic Twist was better in balance of flavours but had the same spicy salty sauce on it, and obviously the same bland crust. They were too expensive of what they were. I would come back for the danishes and try some other treats, but that would be about it. Customer service: friendly but scattered, bordering on unprofessional, or maybe they are just young. The person behind the counter had to be reminded multiple times of the details of the order, forgot as soon as you told them, and forgot to make the coffee after we paid. It took an inordinate amount of time to get the order together and the covid line-up was forming outside. In the bakery itself, there were young employees looking like they didn't quite belong. One dressed in a blouse hacking away at some brittle, or something that seemed to be stuck to a tray, or trying to figure out how to cut it (?), another trying to help, and a third just standing about. It was a bit of a weird scene. I'm not sure they actually worked there or were hanging out with their buddies. When we returned to pick up the pizzas, we grabbed them off the counter, and another person passing by behind the counter abruptly and loudly asked "Did you pay for that??". "Umm yes", and response of "just checking" was received. Then just check your order receipts. I'm sure this place has a loyal following, but I'd get pizza elsewhere honestly.
Great rye bread.
Awesome beer and ???? plus that jelly filled donut is amazing.
Great Pizza! Very personable staff.
Incredible food.
Best pizza ever
Good beer
Happened to be next door to another business I visited. Walked in and the beautiful aromas awakened my senses. Came for a coffee but left with some me baked good. What did you guys do to this banana bread?!?! I've never tasted anything like it - absolutely sensational. And the coffee is right there with the baking... Someone let me know of any real estate goes up for sale on the street cause I'm moving in! Pot shop right next door. What more do you want?!
They're take on the long John was so great. Donut cut in half, dunked in chocolate and FILLED with real whipping cream. My kids loved their donuts. I'll be back!
Best danishes I have ever had.
Love this place!
Thank you for the great pizza and donuts this evening. And a very special thanks for the personal art decoration on the pizza boxes, well done????????????
Fresh bread, donuts, coffee, wood fired pizza, beer on tap...it's a great place for a snack or a pizza dinner!
We love this little bakery, we come here once a week. Great selection of delicious savoury things for lunch. Meat pies, sausage rolls, croissants, soups, all good. The sweet things are good too!
Went to buy a pizza at around 5 pm Monday. Google says they open till 6 pm. Place was closed up and sign said 4 pm closing. Who closes a pizza place so early?
Good donuts
Great balance between traditional pizzas that will appease the masses and new and interesting flavours for those of us who have grown tired of pepperoni and cheese.
Pizza and Doughnuts, yummy!
Best pizza ever !!! No kidding!!!
Ordered pizza from here and it was fantastic. Decided to try one of the brownies from there and it was great!!! Will definitely be going back.
Great framers white bread and cumby donuts.
Great baking from this place today! Loved the cheesecake squares and carrot cake!
OMG! I will seriously drive from anywhere on Vancouver Island to get a jam filled doughnut from Church Street Bakery! But the trouble is that lots of other people will too & you'll find yourself fighting for the last one. So I have a question: can I order or reserve my doughnut?
