Excellent little caffe place that has a a very coussy environment-decor, friendly staff [and i mean really friendly] and delicious sandwiches. I have tried a few things here and they have all been excellent in taste. Recommend highly the cabagge-tomatoe soup for these unforgiving weather days. The chicken sandwich with eggplant and pickels is out of this world. Ask for their special Schrug sauce [ spicy mayo ], delicious. And since I’m latino, it’s always a pleasure to find the Jamaican patties [i’ve tried the chicken and beef], very flavourish. Ive also had a few of the pastries and they are amazing as well. If you come on a Thursday, ask to see if they have Shak-shuka, it’s incredible. So yess. I am a big fan. Dont mis this place out if you want a different experience from regular caffe’s. =)

I come from the West Island just for the soups! They are amazing. I prefer not having added oils. He makes a cauliflower soup that is one of the most flavourful I ever had. And then I tried the lentil! Wow! Great variety. Lots of salads and baked goods typical of an older style Cantors. (Had my first bagel at a Cantors on Sunnydale in DDO early 60’s.) Also an assortment of great sandwiches freshly made. Also their coffee is made by Union so you don’t have to wait in line for a franchise coffee across the street and enjoy supporting a Montreal Roaster! 5 Stars also to Union Coffee.

I hate being negative towards local shops but I know my cheese danishes. I only go there for the cheese danish, this guy passes off the old ones as new. He used to sell the day old ones for less. I wouldn’t drive the extra 30mins in traffic at 8 am for old cheese danishes. I’ll go directly to cantor on 8e ave from now on.

Cantor on Victoria near Plamondon metro: Selling pastries with mould and claiming that the expiry date is a week away. Don't care whether this is malicious, desperate, or incompetent - it's wrong. (Today is April 12th and four of the six bagels have mould spots. Expiry states April 18th.) I had been buying their pastries and soups since they opened this winter - no more.

Pros: Very friendly owner. Lots of vegetarian options. Often gives you free samples to try if you ask nicely. Delicious salads and baguettes - My favorite ones are the eggplant salads. Cons: Some of the salads are a bit pricy. I've been coming here since moving to the area and will keep coming back for more.
