I've been CAUGHT in this trap where I'm finding myself eagerly awaiting my next lunch visit here. The Italian deli panini is to die for! Served HOT with melted cheese and all sorts of deli meats. I love Hofstedes. The customer service is exemplary and the products are almost always as good. Prices are also competative and often cheaper than any other place in town. My apples from here last a solid 3 weeks versus the big box stores only lasting a few days! Their restaurant is also beyond delicious. Zero complaints!

This is a boutique shopping experience similar to what you get when you go to Whole Foods or Urban Fair. While Hofstedes prices are marginally higher than the large chain supermarkets on dry foods, they provide local produce and often at a better price. If your looking to finish your shopping experience with a generally good feeling, Hofstedes is the place to go.

Hofstedes country barn is a local produce outlet. All of their produce is fresh with a large selection of fruits and veggies. They take pride in having good product and displaying it well. You can even get harder to find produce, like red peppers( not just sweet peppers, jalapenos and chilli peppers) The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. Also available are delicious soups ,condiments etc. You can spend a lot of time just browsing The only drawback is limited parking. It's a busy place!

Just such a joy to enter that store and have so many genuine and happy conversations with people :) I also love the variety of gourmet foods, foodie paradise in there. Plus a cafe inside too?!? How could I have missed this jem of a store before now? I was searching for vanilla beans and I asked a clerk of a well known grocery store if they sold them. She said she didn't know and walked away. My next stop was Hofstede's. I was greeted by Ken at the door. What an awesome conversation we had. I asked about the vanilla beans and before I left the store FOUR people made sure I had what I needed. The prices are comperable to the big chain stores and they stock lots of local products. I will be back!!

I just visited this store and was turned off by the amount of staff and customers not wearing masks. Some of the Employees behind the food prep area, were blatantly wearing their masks underneath their chins and not even attempting to wear them properly. They were preparing food and one even touched her face multiple times. At least 25% of the customers were not wearing masks as well. I loved shopping here but can no longer support a business that does not care about the safety of its customers and the wellness of their community.

Always superb staff, produce is usually in top order sometimes their sister store "Produce Gone Wild" has sometimes better prices and selection but always great food, 99% of the time great prices, excellent prices and only issue I have is the parking it was not well thought out for the long term of the city of Chilliwack and it's growing needs and it sadly shows but all in all great store great staff and excellent cafe - I honestly think "they can do no wrong!" Never have had food that I was unimpressed with from the sandwiches to the pastas and the dessert selection all 5 stars in my opinion and I am one picky fellow

Felt uncomfortable being there. Bean sprouts had self serve tongs laying right on top of them. Things were self serve and given that there is no hand sanitizer being offered I can safely assume this was not a sanitary place. Not to mention that mask mandate and social distancing was not being followed. The lack of sanitary precautions is astounding given these times. I highly recommend people go to Kin's; staff are friendly and the store has excellent sanitary measures.

Hofstede's is such an awesome family run grocery store and deli. The staff are incredibly friendly, produce is fresh, the deli is cozy, great selection of candies, teas, coffees, spices and whatever else you may need! This review is purely for the cafe, we didn't buy groceries. I was excited for the gourmet sounding sandwich options when we stopped in desperate for lunch. $7.99 for a dry, premade roast beef sandwich and $9.99 for a small turkey bacon sandwich which seemed almost microwave heated was a disappointment. Everything was pre-made, the only options were to have things taken off, no custom sandwiches. Super lovely staff, but the food was mediocre at best and overpriced.

Why shop here? 1) They only have grade 1 produce which means it lasts longer and tastes better. 2) Much of their produce is bought direct from farmers, so it’s local, less expensive, and spends less time moving back and forth from often far-off distributors. 3) I It’s a local business that supports the local economy and local farmers. The selection and quality is very high selection and often no spray too, with a decent organic selection. Very decent grocery options too, especially gourmet or more hard to find spices.

A bit noisy but the food was good ...had tuna on sour marble dough with avocado and havarty cheese...Fran had pea and ham soup bow with a bun..very filling....
