I don't hate it normally there. I am a customer there for years ... but I hated the service today at the bakery department. The woman was extremely rude towards me for no reason. Surprised and pleased...we remember the Allan St. Sobeys as not so nice. It is super now. And finally found anchovy paste where no one else in town is carrying it. So clean and a very large variety of everything to choose from. Cashier was lovely too. Will now be shopping there too.

Average grocery shopping experience, though two low points came up: 1. Cashier really didn’t know how to bag well. If we hadn’t taken it over, I’m sure I would have gotten charged for a half-dozen bags that were not needed. 2. No available customer washrooms. Both were out of order, which stinks when a child has to go...

As far as grocery stores on the island go, this is one of the best. Clean, friendly, lots of carts and not loud! Weird thing to say until you compare the noise level to their competitor's store, who's entire produce section are bumpy terracotta tiles, and shopping carts rattle along in a very noisy fashion. Sobey's has lots of health food products and snacks as well as a great deli section. More expensive than Walmart or Sean's No Frills, but comparable price-wise to Atlantic Superstore and a much more pleasant experience over all.

I have not had much luck in the produce area. Lately I purchased apples and grapes.Four apples rotten in the middle and half the grapes in the middle of bunch had mold on them.I think about $12.00 thrown out.So much for quality. Not first time this has happened. SUPERSTORE LOOKING GOO

Sometimes I can't find ataulfo mangoes or persimmon in the middle of winter, out of season. Darn it, Sobeys! But, hey, it's clean, stuff is fresh, and I'm not stared at by pop-eyed shelf stockers, so I give it a 4.2/5, rounded down.

I used to go here regularly but switched to Atlantic Superstore due to their overall lower prices. Some of the current issues I have with Sobeys is that they do not require customers to wear masks and that their checkouts are always (ALWAYS) understaffed.
