You have all the feddbacks of real people who used the products of Sidewalk Citizen Bakery (Bakery) in the area close to Calgary (Canada).
At present the business receives a score of 4.5 stars over 5 and the score is based on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that the average score it has is nearly the best one, and it is based on a large number of reviews, so we can say that the rating is quite credible. If there are many people who bothered to evaluate when they are satisfied with the business, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to place tatings when these are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Bakery corresponds to the category of Bakery.
They have a great patio looking over the river and a couple of bridges. The food was decent too.
Way overhyped. I got the chocolate chip cookies, the sourdough croissant and the rainbow brownie. Honestly the only reason it’s getting a three is because of the croissant. It was great however, the brownie and the chocolate chip cookies, yeah no thank you. The rock hard chip ahoy cookies are better than this cookie. And the brownie literally taste like they’re trying to copy La Boulangerie Bakery Cafe brownie but forgot the sugar.
Sidewalk citizen has great food. In fact, it's pretty awesome, but it's expensive. This is not the place to take your family, only yourself if you want to splurge a little. The bread is made very well but I do wish they had more selection since they do such a good job of it. Some of the staff are less than enthused about their job and it shows.
All 4 items we took from this place are 10 out of 10! Love it!
Such excellent food. Their breakfast roll tastes like Australian cafe bacon and egg rolls...by GOLLY, it is freaking delicious!
A little pricey, but a darn good damage and cup of joe.
Best pain au chocolate so far in my life! I only have ever had the best tasting food here. So good.
Phenomenal! We were visiting Calgary for a few days and got super lucky to find this great place. Great bakery and the best coffee so far in Canada. Well done.
I love the food, and I love the Tzavta evenings. Incredible conversation, curated menu, awesome service. Keep them coming!!
Delicious baked goods and very friendly staff!
The location in an old building with character is nice and what drew us to go here. However I was pretty disappointed by the whole experience. The service was OK but very unorganised, the original guy serving us disappeared to get our food, we were left standing not knowing what was happening whilst others got served. When I asked what was going on I was able to order drinks and pay. I was told my drinks would be collected at the end. I thought this meant like every other coffee place, just down at the end of their bar. I waited for awhile, asked about the drinks and was told it was at Phil & Sebastian's ft the other side of the building, as if I was supposed to know this. The food was reasonably good but you can get better for less money in the local area. The coffee wasn't hot as it had been stood and was surprisingly terrible so we both ended up throwing it away. The whole experience was quite frustrating. I think the only reason it is busy is because of the building and vegan options. There's much better in the local area so I won't be returning.
Amazing cheese cake they have!! The baked goods are just delicious. Cute place for a brunch.
One of my favorite places. The sour dough croissant is my go to. I have to one of these with a latte from Phil and Sebastian. The cauliflower sandwich was delicious. It's great place to eat and hang out to people watch
Very nice breakfast, baked goods and coffee. Prices seem a bit high, but everything I had was very good so definitely worth it.
Their sourdough bread is fantastic!
Came here to treat myself for birthday brunch. Everything on the breakfast menu is a must try - and frankly, I don't care how much gluten hates me...the brioche bun is worth bloating for. Get the bacon and avocado on your sandwich. You'll thank me later.
Their desserts are so fresh that they have the ability to brighten up even the most melancholy of days. If Hamlet would have had access to the pastries of Sidewalk Citizen, he would've been a lot less of a downer and the play a lot shorter. This bakery does so much for the city's culture, and we are very fortunate to have it!
Love coming here with my grandchildren on the weekends! It does get pretty busy, but the food is always delicious and worth the wait. Their salads are fresh and their baked goods are absolutely yummy!
Wonderful bakery. Your holiday bread was a highlight of our family table. Please consider making this a regular feature.
Rolled into this place with the famjam, I took a little too much time thinking about everyone else and had to order in a rush so I went with the broccoli sandwich with the hopes that I'd be introduced to something new. Sadly I was now, it was basically a broccoli sandwich. If I was on some sort new age diet then I might have been happy but I had to grin and bear it. The other food looked good and I was forced to steal some of my sons hummus which was delish. Need time I know what not to order.
The best bread in city
Good food but a little pricey for what it is. Decor and quiet vibe adds to the place early in the morning. Visiting from NZ.
A-MAZING! You will never be disappointed with anything you order here. Stay in and enjoy the food delivered to your table or take out and have a snack as you walk along the river. Favourites are the cheese sticks and quiche. I buy a sourdough loaf to take home every time I visit Calgary. Cannot recommend enough!
Love this bakery. My personal favorite is the dark choc fruit scones. I have never liked scones until I tasted these!! Now I drive all long way for them. They are sooo crunchy on the outside and so moist inside. It's magic in your mouth.
Didn't eat a thing because there were no vegan.options????
I eat at the SC in the Simmons building quite often, their sandwiches are amazing. Today they missed putting in my sandwich order to the kitchen, no big deal for me I wasn't in a hurry, but the way they handled this mistake went above and beyond prompting this review. They offered me a free cookie, 10% off my next visit and a refund for my sandwich. Very few businesses would handle a mistake this way. Thanks so much SC, best bakery in Calgary☺
Food is always tasty and the chocolate chip cookies are amazing. The service today was lacking...seemed like everyone was grumpy.
Beautiful venue that combines a coffee shop, bakery and restaurant. Sadly, due to a private event, the kitchen was closed so we didn’t get to try the food. The coffee and baked goods are yummy, great location by the Bow river.
Went in with my small dog, a guy at the front said rudely to me no dogs or pets. She was a service dog but he was being rude and said I can leave her in the corner outside in the mean time. Ive been a customer for awhile and always came in to buy a few bakeries, his rudeness and customer service was terrible. Im always in an out in less than a minute. Will not go again, do not support this place!!!
Definitely an amazing bakery and cafe!!! I absolutely loved my salmon sandwich, which came with homemade sourdough. It was incredibly delicious, every bite was savored! I also had coffee from the attached coffee shop which was probably one …
Exceptional desserts! The sticky buns are definately one of the best in the city. Their croissants are also very good. Speedy service and consistant quality in all of the foods there. You can preorder your coffee at the till for the phil & sebastion in the same building which is super convenient!
This is one of my best places to eat a really good sandwich and bakeries. I've had avocado toast and tuna melted cheese sandwich with oatmeal cookies. I would go back again to try more sandwiches and pastries.
Discovered this adorable little bakery today and bought a bunch of goodies. The brownie is moist and delicious, but not too sweet. My husband, who can't have dairy, thoroughly enjoyed the vegan chocolate chili cookie (I might have snuck a …
Fantastic place to eat and enjoy the sights and sounds of Calgary. Highly recommend!
You can't go wrong at Sidewalk Citizen, but if you want to go really right then get a sandwich. They are always unreal. Be prepared to wait in line to order and then wait some more for your food if you stop in for brunch on Sunday, but the breakfast sandwich is worth it. Kill time drinking coffee and watch the river flow by.
Great small little bakery to grab a quick bite to eat- small bit good menu and comfortable place to sit and eat. Good friendly staff and prices are very reasonable! Nice outlook onto the riverwalk
The sweets here are awesome, go for the bread pudding. The ciabatta buns that they use for their sandwich specials are freakin amazing. I had the ciabatta special, a pastrami, arugala, and sourkraut sandwich with a house made thousand island like dressing. The staff are all friendly and one of the chefs (the head chef maybe), came to see us at the table to ask us how the meal was. Great place for a new experience.
The creativity of Aviv and Michal and their team always has my tastebuds looking forward to a visit.
If you get there before the cheese sticks sell out, buy them. Haha. ????????
Yeah, this is good. I mean, really. Not only do they have “real” bread with a crunchy crust, but their sandwiches and deli selections (plates) are just delicious. Recommend this with a Phil and Seb coffee... and coincidentally, they’re in the same building ;)
Really cute place. The croissants are awesome!!!
Always amazing food with cheery, quick service and quality ingredients.
Always check your bread I stopped by to pick up a loaf of sourdough bread to go with dinner. It was pre- wrapped in a brown paper bag. I didn't check. When I got home I realized it was burnt hard as a Rock. Very disappointed. Don't make the same mistake I did.
Really neat local bakery. This bakery makes some wonderful things, I have had their Banana bread, chocolate croissants and smoked salmon breakfast sandwich....all are the best I have ever had! They used to be nut free, I'm pretty disappointment that I now have to watch for that when I order from them...but the taste and quality of the food is 5 star for sure, prices are a little high, but you do get amazing food.
Yup. Go here and sit by the river. Eat delicious treats and drink great coffee.
Great spot to meet people Really nice place, warm wood with high ceilings so you can hear your guests speak. Coffee is from another place in the building and delightful. Great area, very anti-chain atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Best bakery and the manager with red hair is very professional and charming. Best employee by far.
This place is a gem. Incredible food, reasonable prices and great owners. Try their bread pudding!
Awesome breakfast sandwich, and I consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur, the avocado and bacon version is what I had with some homemade harissa on the side it was absolutely delicious. Whatever the long cheese sticks are we're amazing as well, definitely recommend a visit for breakfast, all of the pastries looked great.
Came all the way from Toronto for this bakery! And visit some family afterwards
One of the best bakeries I've ever found. While they offer a plethora of regular and scrumptious favourites like the vegan spice cookies, chocolate croissants, burekas and of course sourdough, they also have an ever changing menu of salads, sandwiches, pizzas, scones, danishes, dips and loafs. I am always appreciative of the bold, seasonal flavours that they choose. They are so creative and always delicious, and for the most part healthy. The menu always has lots of vegetarian options and high quality Alberta meat. I've never had anything I didn't like from Sidewalk Citizen and I would recommend every local and visitor stop by for a bountiful lunch!
Chocolate cake, corned beef sandwich with a coffee - all yummy. Great atmosphere in a historical building right on the Bow River. Friendly service and seating inside or out.
This is by far Calgary's best bakery! You can't go wrong with anything they offer. From various savoury and sweet baked goods, many kinds of delicious breads, and breakfast and lunch items. You can also order your Phil & Sebastian beverage at the same time for pickup at the coffee shop in the same building. So handy that you don't need to wait in line twice! My favourites are the croissants, scones and brownies, but everything is seriously delicious.
BEST CROISSANTS IN THE CITY, INCREDIBLE VARIETY. I only started visiting this joint about 3 weeks ago and the croissants and other pastry paraphernalia are the best in Calgary, period. Believe me, I love pastries at a level similar to how a heroin addict craves another hit of smack, so I've had a disproportionate amount of high quality croissants and pastries over my adult life. I am qualified to judge these croissants! Its so freakin' flaky on the outside it would make a Frenchman proud - more proud than winning a single Olympic event, ever. The inside of the croissant is soft and slightly chewy and the perfect amount of sweetness in the pastry, and always fresh. Imagine being flown in a time machine to an era where people lived or died based on the quality of croissant they could bake...Sidewalk Citizen would reign supreme in this land! Danishes are amazing as well. Pizza is new everyday and typically bad to the bone. I usually have an aversion to vegetables, due to a terrible asparagus accident when I was 7, but even the salads are impressive and always rotating with new creations. I've become an omnivore once again! Prices are very fair, I would reckon to say on par or cheaper than Safeway deli/bakery. Service is always pleasant and smiley, and they know all about the foreign fruits imported illegally to make the salads exotic. Perfect place to stop by for a quick lunch on the go, delicious breakfast goodies, or when you need to impress your in-laws' Parisian tennis instructor. Go check it out!
A beautiful place on the path in East Village. A great place to grab an early morning coffee and pain au chocolat before hitting the trails for a dog walk.
This place has so much going for it. Best bread in Calgary. I'm never disappointed with anything on their menu, and many items change based on what's in season so there's always great variety. For what you get (high quality ingredients and expert preparation), I find it a great value as well. Finally, you can't beat the atmosphere and location of their East Village location.
The location is so convenient and the pastries are super good too. Typical downtown prices for drinks.
First time at Sidewalk Citizen. Right off the bat, lots of citizens walking around having a good time, cool atmosphere. Although no sidewalks to be seen inside. I had the fried egg and avocado sandwich, it was unreal. Will have to try one of their pastries next time.
I was really impressed by this place. A friend of mine recommended it and I was pretty impressed. The baked goods are delicious, some on the more pricey side, but the main dishes are great and filling. I discovered new simple flavor combinations. Would definitely recommend for brunch
Full disclosure: five stars is for the sourdough alone. Popped into SC whilst biking to work one Monday morn and nabbed a loaf of rustic ‘rdough. Still warm from the oven, sporting a nice slash and crying out to be smashed in one sitting with a little tapenade or similar. 6$ of local microflora and gluten tag-teaming to do bad things to your tastebuds (in a good way).
The pastries here are absolutely fantastic! The avocado fried egg sandwich was a great way to start a Sunday morning. Pain au chocolat(which is one of my fav), Carot cake and berry danish were so yum as well. If you’re visiting here from outta town or looking for a new place to have a wonderful brunch time, this is a must visit!
Absolutely unreal sandwich for lunch, chicken melt. I’ve honestly never had a better sandwich for lunch in my life. Affordable too! Then over to Phil and Sebastian’s for coffee in the same building. Awesome experience.
Best sourdough in YYC
It is a great spot to be in the summer as it is right on the river! Awesome to stop if you are talking a walk
Food is a 5/5 and always super tasty, I want to score this place a 4/5 overall however bc there is just a couple things I wish were different. Mostly the table I sat at was very dirty when I went, no fault of the staff- I could have asked …
Everything about this place is excellent!! Breakfast sandwiches are delicious and their sticky buns are TO DIE FOR. My partner and I have tried all sorts of their pastries and all of there were simply fantastic! And the staff are wonderful and cheerful :)
Food is amazing! This place is always always packed. The lines are long, and service at times slow, but it's worth it. I wish they had more seating. Definitely must visit if you're in the area
Great bakery with very fresh breads and pastries. Almond croissant was loaded with flavour. Salmon toast was tasty and balanced. Coffee on site is very good as well. Quality espresso made by skilled baristas.
The location is great for grabbing a treat or lunch and then walking the over path. Food is always fresh and great flavor
A great bakery and patisserie in a popular location. The pastries are delicious! Croissants are light and flaky. The only problem I have is that I don't have enough stomach room for everything I want, so I guess that means I'll have to come back. Gladly!
Best place for everything fresh baked and the best staff
What a nice bakery located inside amongst some other eateries. The pastries are well made - the milk chocolate espresso cake is a heavy little cake that encapsulates both flavours very well at $3.95. The croissants were standard and good. …
I really love that they are adding more tasty vegan options, esp in their lunch menu choices. Their sandwiches are creative, delicious, and the bread is so yummy! So far, staff have been friendly and helpful. Atmosphere is always fantastic in the old Simmons building their in. I like how they are open to chaning things up in their menu. That is such a good sign that they are interested in their clients
Very delicious soup and sandwiches. We didn't get a chance to try anything sweet, but it all looked amazing, as I'm sure it is. …
Their croissants are to die for! Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Love the modern and loft space. Great food options for breakfast and lunch. Coffee as well! I’ll be back soon.
Nice bakery with delicious pastries. The chocolate croissant was my favourite, it has lots of chocolate in! A little on the pricy side but worth it.
Delicious fresh eats in a beautifully redone brick and beam building. Amazing coffee shop in the same building too!
Love the food here, I’ve mostly only tried sandwiches and baked goods. - usually busy, so expect a line, especially on weekends - outdoor patio seating available - great at spot to grab something to go and walk along the river - you can order the Phil & Sebastian coffee here, and pick up at the Phil & Sebastian counter (so you don’t have to wait in line twice) Must Try/Known For: Ham and cheese croissant Fried egg sandwich with bacon Tuna melt Quiche
Food is really good and it is a cool stop, that being said, staff yells at you and speak very rude as if you are inconvenience them or doing you a favour, I guess older people with kids are not as cool.as their other clients.
Great place to have breakfast or lunch. The cafe shares the building with several other food/beverage places, which is handy. The food is absolutely delicious, particularly the Shakshuka. The pasties are very tasty too. Coffee is delivered by Phil & Sebastian Coffee Roasters (located in the same building).
Best bakery in town! I love their sandwiches, each with a totally different and unique taste. They make amazing cheese cake as well. Plus as a bonus they now are on Skip The Dishes, so you can order it for lunch and get it sent along to your office. This is a hidden gem in Calgary.
Great little bake shop and deli along side the Bow River pathway system in East Village. Amazing sandwiches, soups, sweet treats, and coffee. Great location with a patio for warm days since it faces North. Breakfast sandwiches and the crusty Sourdough are our favourites.. highly recommend if looking for a small bite out while enjoying the path.
Great and very eclectic vibe as soon as I walked in this place. Everything looked super appetizing and the food was truly delicious. I had the egg in a croissant sandwich, which was divine. The cheese pastry was also very very good. Also highly recommend the almond croissant. Very tasty, and you'll definitely go for seconds. They even have a Phil and Sebastian built right in, so you can enjoy a nice coffee with your meal.
The baked goods and sandwiches At this place are so good! The atmosphere and decor is also great being in the Simmons building. It's one of my favourite places! They always have samples out as well so you can taste a variety of items each time you go.
I have never been into the Simmons building until this time. This was a very cool location both from the fact the bakery does some incredible food and they also have Phil & Sebastian's connected. The staff was very friendly and as always Phil & Sebastian's coffee is great. Just had a few baked treats but it was very tasty. Will definitely have to be back
The land of "No"! According to the smarmy server, I did at least 4 things wrong when ordering. He seemed to take great pleasure in reflecting my lack of intimate sidewalk citizen knowledge back at me at every opportunity, Great food but I'm never coming back.
The best Calgary bakery, that I have found. Bread is excellent, dense and moist crumb. Pastries are also very good. Building interior beautiful. Coffee excellent, although expensive. Worth a drive to visit!
I liked the rustic feel to this place. There was a definite homey feel and a perfect sentiment for a bakery. The type of pastries available had me drooling and I couldn't pass up on some. Prices are fair and I would definitely shop there again.
A great little local bakery in East Village! Definitely would recommend it if you are in the area. I always end up getting something to take home with me. Their cheese sticks are definitely one of my favourite things to buy! It also doesn't hurt that Phil and Sebastians is just on the other end of the same building!
Lovely staff - I tried the sourdough croissant and it was incredible. My friend got a slice of quiche (I can’t recall the flavour - but it had onion&garlic?) and it was also SO good. The smell when you walk in is heavenly and there is so …
It's a great location right on the river. Easy access to the river while on bike or walking. We had the Albacore Tuna Melt and it was delicious. I would request just a little less oil used when grilling it. The drink options were limited to tea, water, and a couple of sodas. Some seating available inside. A few tables are near a big wide doors making it feel like a patio. I would return.
So tastey!!!
Best sourdough in town and Damn! the MEZZE plate!
Asked for 3 different items on menu are none of them were available. I understand there Iis a lunch rush but please update your menu to reflect what you actually have! …
Dropped in on the weekend to have lunch at Sidewalk Citizen. The food was tasty. We enjoyed the featured cornbeef sandwich a the breakfast sandwich. Both were well made and afterwards got a bundt cake to go which was a nice late afternoon …
Awesome artisan bakery! While I haven't tried everything there, everything looks fantastic. If there's a line people are telling you it's worth the wait!
Was a first time going there and I wanted to buy everything. Apon walking in, it smelt so amazing and all the food looked incredible. Loved the fact they had gluten free options there! Definitely would go back!! So yummy and delicious!!
The east village location is great. Loved their vegan roasted cauliflower sandwich with tahini. The sourdough bread is fresh & superb! A great treat to have after a bike ride or walk near river. Happy they have some tasty vegan baked goods too
Popped in here for a weekend lunch and loved the atmosphere and the food! The staff were friendly and offered us a discount on a baked item we selected since it had a small defect on the icing. Excellent service! The building is also laid out in such a way that 3 different businesses can complement each other while running side by side. Definitely a place I will return to!
Great place for Bread
Favorite place in Calgary!!! Everything there is absolutely delicious, it's the perfect place for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack, date night, hanging out with friends, just pretty much any occasion! The cinnamon buns are to die for!
I love the whole concept of this place. The way it's connected to coffee shop and I think a bar as well. The baked goods are soooo delicious - croissants and scones are incredible!
A really cool spot right by the river. The bureka and egg and the grilled cheese with honey are a must try.
Wasn’t too impressed with the food or service and the coffee was pretty gross. I’m pretty sure the only reason people go here is cause it’s “hip and trendy” and by the Bow. Also not worth the price.
Ordered a Turkey sandwich to go that cost $15. It was Canada day, so they were pre-made and kept in paper bags. I realized later that half of what was supposed to be on the sandwich wasn't, and it was so dry it was hard to actually eat. Incredibly overpriced for 2 pieces of sourdough bread, a smear of ranch and some turkey.
I stopped here for lunch today. Hard to enjoy my sandwich after drinking a glass of water from a very unwashed glass. (I didn’t have my glasses on at the time.) When I showed the glass which was coated with a film and pieces of pulp to the cashier, she and her manager said a customer agreed it was definitely not clean and decided it must have left with the clean glasses by a customer. Unapologetic and unconcerned about me the customer. Add this to slow service on a “take n go” sandwich that took well over 15 min, and this place gets 1 star.
Food is mediocre, and customer service is TERRIBLE. I’ve been a few times and they are the rudest. Won’t be coming back and won’t recommend to anyone. There’s better options.
Food was good. Too much beans in salad though.
The best sourdough in Calgary, no contest. Croissants are also probably the best (maybe a tie with one other bakery). Highly recommended!
Accessible, efficient, clean and delicious. What more could one hope for.
HAD THE QUICHE. It was delicious with such great salty pieces of bacon. Yumm
Delicious, fresh and tasty pastries!
Food’s amazing, but often as not I’m eating my second or third choice off the menu as they seem to run out of stuff frequently. Luckily the fall-backs are always good.
Great service, friendly and helpful. Good selection for breakfast, with both savoury and sweet options. Everything looked fresh and delicious. My friend and I both had grilled sandwiches and were very happy with them, tasty, hot and fresh. Great combination with the coffee roasters in the same space. Would recommend this place for brekky or lunch. We were visiting Calgary on our way to Banff, found this bakery for breakfast and loved everything about it - food, coffee, service, and atmosphere!
I will have to agree with what someone else said and say that service is hit or miss. I have been here a few times because I study at Bow Valley and it is a good option for healthy food near by. However today I left pretty upset. I ordered a quiche to-go and was asked if I wanted to have it warmed up to which I said 'yes'. But little did I know that I would have to wait almost 15 (FIFTEEN!!!) minutes for my order. Now, the quiche is already made and sliced, why does it take so long to heat it up?!?!? I simply can not wrap my mind around it! The girl with glasses seems pretty unimpressed, I am not sure if she should be working with people. I had to ask her if it was going to take too much longer or I would just take a cold slice at that point. I think she noticed I was getting a little impatient, because the quiche wasn't even that warm when I got it..
This is a beautiful building in an amazing area. Such a wonderful place to pop in for a quick snack whilst out and about or stop and have a proper sit down lunch. Food is typically reasonable in portion and pricing and flavors are excellent. Contrary to other reviews, I have personally only experienced excellent service from the staff and have never had to wait long at all. I do wish there were a couple more veg friendly options on the menu though as it gets kind of boring ordering the same (similar) things over and over. It wouldn't be difficult considering the type of food that is served already... But otherwise a great little place.
The location is great right by the Bow River so there was a lot to see while sitting outside in the patio. Coffee was great loved the flavour and I ordered a breakfast plate and The Pork Meatball Ciabatta. The bacon here is on point, the sausage patties not so much. Be sure to know what you’re getting before you come!
Great little spot. Good place to stop on a walk or bike ride.
Really interesting space. Great baked goods and breakfast items. Fast service. Food was fresh and tasty.
Delicious breakfast sandwich on the brioche bread. Will come back to try other things. Highly recommended.
Sooo good! Their sourdough croissants are to die for! One of my fav bakerys in the city for sure :)
Friendly staff and amazing pastries :))
Sidewalk Citizen is on the river side of the building. Going through the front door, keep walking towards Char bar reception before you will see their sign. This is a self service cafe that offers a small selection of lighter middle eastern dishes. Food is well balanced and flavorful. This place also has a great selection of pastry.
Not impressed when you offer certain choices to pick up for Christmas and prepay weeks in advance and substitute a portion of my order on your own. Don’t you think contacting the customer to ensure this was okay prior to pickup would be the proper way to handle this. There could allergies to consider or maybe if I even wanted that product I would have ordered it in the first place. Terrible service from the counter clerk with her could care less attitude. All this did was ensure I’m not a repeat customer.
Definitely worth it
Great sandwiches all round - artisanal special sourdough - the roast beef is succulent- and the turkey. The grilled cheese is addictive. The pastries are light and delicious. Service is slick. This place has it down . Loved it all. Calgary icon. Awesome building as well!
Granola "bowl" is a joke (that I missed) $9 for a small CUP. Should be half the price or make it unique Great pastries, decent quiche
When you walk into a bakery and they are actually BAKING the food - it’s gooooooood. I would have liked to try more things, but I loved every part of the experience! Very warm and welcoming atmosphere, great staff and perfect food!! Just returned again, had an amazing flatbread. Excellent service, friendly staff delicious food!!
They have the best sourdough!
Great breakfast sandwich, fresh ingredients and very tasty
Excellent modern spot for breakfast/brunch. Their sandwiches are 10/10
Outstanding bread and sandwiches. Probably best tuna fish sandwich I've ever had. Wow. Friendly service but be prepared to wait a few minutes to receive your order. Nice seating outside along the river.
So so good
Just in front of the river…nice place to enjoy sunshine and the bread taste so good
What Happened? I haven’t been to Sidewalk since before the pandemic, it used to be a favorite …
Great stop on the river pathway. Quiet and welcoming. The fresh sourdough is the best
Best roast beef melt I've ever had! Very tender beef, delicious ingredients, highly recommend!
Mmm grilled cheese is yum!
Delicious baked goods and coffee. Sandwich options too for lunch and breakfast. The most ridiculously overpriced yogurt parfait however..
First time here, and I loved it! Really cool interior, and the staff is very friendly! The quiche and red pepper soup is amazing! Topped it off with a little cheesecake and it was a fantastic meal! I'm not local to this area, so it was recommended by a friend. Great recommendation and I'll definitely be back!
This place is really good and they have the best house-made hot sauce. Can you please sell jars of the hot sauce? I'd pay $30 for a jar easily.
Great bakery by the river front. Really enjoyed my baked goods with coffee, also the atmosphere is really nice
Spectacular pain au chocolate !
They have two line ups out front and back, you can wait for 30 mins at one only to be rudely spoken to wait at the other. The staff yells at you for not being in the right place, which they do a horrible job at signage. We left and went to another shop
Sidewalk Citizen is one of the best stops on Calgary's culinary scene. I eat here frequently. It is always so busy and I am always amazed at how consistently delicious the food is and how friendly and efficient the staff are. It doesn't get any better- anywhere.
The bureka is by far and away the most delicious breakfast sandwich I have ever had. The buttery, flaky pastry has just the right fluffiness and crustiness balance. I must have eaten mine in about six seconds it was so good.
On the pricey side for breakfast/lunch. Sandwiches did not come with any side, and were $12 to $14 each. Drinks were on the expensive side too. The food was very good however.
Love this place. All freshly baked! Love the cheese stick!
Fast and quick service, out in less than 5 mins. The vegan roast mushroom sandwich was amazing. Overflowing of different kind of mushrooms , must try
Super friendly staff. Great variety of food. Their ham + cheese croissants and flourless chocolate cake are delightful.
