Great bakery shop...fresh and delicious products. Is true they have a limited selection of pastries but everything they do Is high quality. Their lemon tart is amazing so as the Baguette. You might find very few times left if visit after 3pm. Nevertheless one of my favorites spots in Calgary.
A.W.E.S.O.M.E! Love their cakes and pastries and sandwiches! Their chocolate caramel tart is a must try!!!
All around very good. Very good bread. Very good price for very high quality product.
The selection at Mari is amazing! They sell out fast so get there before noon for the best options. Even at the end of the day, what’s left is always tasty and never disappoints. Been meaning to try their sourdough but I hear it’s the city’s best!!
Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. When you order a sandwich here, it'll be on inestimable baguette with simple, but ample, high-quality fillings and butter. Nothing else. No icky MSG-laced sandwich spread, no irrelevant lettuce. A ham and cheese is superb quality Valbella ham, lovely and perfectly spaced cheese (gruyere? a nice white cheese), and butter. A cheese and tomato sandwich is just moan-inducing deliciousness even though it looks simple- almost simplistic to the North American viewpoint. It's not; it's decadent and so, so good. Pastries are utterly delicious too, of course, but right now I'm loving the sandwiches. Good coffee program with Fratello Godfather espresso and nice ceramic. A great addition to East Village and the whole city.

Stopped in for a coffee and tried one of the choux pastries. Excellent. Will be coming back for sure
Worth the hype. I made this review after a few visits because I wanted to try most of the menu before reviewing. I am far from having tried every flavor of every item. But I have tried a lot of variety! It is all really good. The baguettes are amazing and that is my item for comparing bakeries. Gold star for sound and taste. Just perfect. Sweets are good and well balances. Not overly sweet or under flavoured. A little bit pricey, but worth it. Staff is good and the store is very clean.
Great customer service
Had a coffee craving and Mari bakery hit the spot. The roll cakes are soft, light and fluffy ; and the coffee was good. Will definitely be back to try out more of their baked goods.
Great pastry and coffee in a unique environment. Music was a little loud for the small store though...
Amazing latte and their bread is to die for
The choux are excellent...another home run for the east village.
Great bread
Great roll cakes. Coconut pineapple is our favorite :)
Went here all the way from the burbs to buy their Sourdough Bread because I read that some judges had named them #1. I had no hesitancy paying $10 for a full loaf if in fact it was the best sourdough. Turned out to be a bunch of BS. While the bread was awesome it certainly was not sour at all. Superstore makes a better “sourdough” bread as far as the sour is concerned. Just to be sure, I have had sourdough bread around the world. The best was San Francisco and seriously calling Mari’s Bakeshop’s sourdough bread the best is total hype. The hunt for a great sourdough bread in Calgary, continues. But their deserts? Absolutely incredible! So my trip wasn’t a total loss.
Excellent pastries, tea and coffee.
Very nice local bakery and coffee shop. Everything is made in store, sandwiches are really nice, particularly the smoked Montreal one! Definitely recommend this place.
Good shop. Consistent quality without compromise. One of the few good bakeshops in Calgary. Decent coffee. We'll kept and clean with good service.
Best bread everrr.. Googles pin is off its just around the corner on riverfront ave.
Very cute place!! Sandwiches are super good!!
Delicious new bakery, came to the soft open and everything was amazing.
The people and goods at Mari are both top notch. The bread loafs and baguettes are delicious, with the baguettes perfect for ripping right in to, no butter or other topping required! The pastries, from the cakes to the brioches are all delicious, and I've sampled a fair few of both. While Covid has meant long lines, wait times are reasonable and the staff is always a joy to speak with.
Light fluffy roll cakes and great coffee! The blueberry one is to die for. Not too sweet.
Their cake rolls and choux are delicious!!!
Cream Puffs are tasty! Really smooth filling and the flavors are great!
This place has great loafs of bread.
Oh what a lovely bakeshop! I tried two thirds of what they make and I was pleased with every single thing I tried. The quiche is to die for! One of the best quiches I’ve ever had! The breads, log cakes, literally everything was amazing! I can hardly wait to go back there.
We picked up a wonderful loaf of sourdough bread here! Their display case also had some very delicious looking desserts and sandwiches too.
Nice environment with friendly staff, soft lighting and relaxed music. Rolls and puffs are to die for, soft and cooked with love =)
Fab sandwiches with their amazing bread!
Love the bakery. Interior design is spot on with their brand and the desserts are yummy! I go back just to try different flavours or new features. Their sandwiches are really good too.
Best bread in the city, hands down. Both the baguettes and pain rustique are amazing. The choux are so well executed - pastry is light, and the creme fillings.... rich but not heavy, not overly sweet, with a selection of regular and feature flavours. The amount of flavour concentrated in the creme is astounding. The roll cakes are also quite good, with unique flavours and cremes as well. They tend to have daily specials as well - tarts, beignets, slices of cake with seasonal ingredients, and unique sandwiches. Staff is always friendly and service is quick. Due to COVID, store hours are weekends only, and there tends to be a line up every morning when they open.
We were walking around the shops at East village and came across this cute cafe. All of their baked goods looked good so we ended up getting the black sesame choux. It is a cream puff and was really good! It wasn't too sweet and the cream was very smooth. For $2.50 each it is a little pricey but worth a try!
Amazing desserts
Great food, cute interior design, and surroundings are beautiful!
the desserts are delicious and looks very pretty. The sandwiches are ok, portion is not big enough. great customer services and cozy little place.
Try the roll cake and cream puffs. Also coffee is good.
The cake is so delicious.
Phenomenal meringue, amazing cake roll. Bold yet mild coffee. Welcoming atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. High prices worth every penny
Delish!
The best pastries, Always
I've been going to Mari since their soft open and cannot stop going. From the amazingly delicious roll cakes to the friendly service, Mari is a real treat each time. Their roll cakes are definitely the highlight, and in my opinion, the chocolate is bar far the best! You can even order an entire cake if you place an order in advance. They have cream puffs or choux and fancy tarts regularly too. They have a great selection of sandwiches as well and teas from the UK. I often frequent Mari for an afternoon tea time. Highly recommend Mari and from their stellar reviews so do others!

Delicious
Best bakery in town!
I was finally able to check it out. I was not disappointed. I had the turkey sandwich and please forgive me, I forgot the name of the chocolate roll I had but it was exquisite. Yes it is a little more expensive but you get what you pay for. To hear suggestions to rethink pricing and comparing it to Timmies is so off base it's almost offensive. Freindly staff as well. I wish them all the success. They deserve it. I cannot wait to try the more unique offerings as well.
Roll cake!
A real gem--Japanese style baked goods. Light, perfectly prepared, beautifully presented. The sandwiches are also good.
Love this place!
Their matcha and coffee Rollcakes are not just beautiful, but amazingly fresh and not too sweet. The choux have a great texture and cream filling was delicious. Didn’t get a chance to try their sandwiches or bread but definitely will be back!
A really cute bakeshop that serves delicate and tasty goodies. Their cakes and choux are out of this world!! You gotta try em!!
????????
Beautiful interior in this little bakeshop, a perfect place to meet up with a friend for coffee and a snack or to relax with a book. The americano was well made and the staff were friendly and approachable. Lots of great food options ranging from artisanal sandwiches to baked treats.
Friendly staff, delicious coffee and cakes, pretty interior design, and opened late on Saturday night. Four stars because one of the cakes’ outer layer was little too dry.
The strawberry cake is super soft and tasty ???? The cream is light and has natural flavour. It's sweet but not sugary!!
Best crusty bread in the city. Also best cake rolls. For a kick try the Lennon tart.
Good treats
Holy hell, this place is delicious. Their salted caramel chocolate tart would be perfect to bring as dessert to a dinner party, and their choux are not to be missed. The vanilla choux is DELICIOUS!
The staff are polite. The rollcakes and the baguettes are amazing! The only sad part is that they are closed in weekdays.
Definitely one of the best bakeries in Calgary! Everything they make is amazing. People are always friendly as well.
Soooo delicious! Those hazelnut choux are to die for! Friendly stuff, great atmosphere. Hot coffee and sweets when it’s raining outside -perfect! Thank you. :)
A special place. well decorated. The owners have care for precise and delicate details. Every product here is fine quality. This bakeshop is better than Calgary deserves.
Top urban bakery, real artisanal bread and pastries from the top chefs Lauren Ahn and Doug Gregory.
Great place to sit, enjoy a cup of coffee and delicious desserts!
Tiny & neat place, good place to kill time.
Visiting Calgary from out of town and found this little gem. Beautiful inside and the baked goods are absolutely delicious!! I had a banana roll cake and a small coffee and I was so happy with my order, haven't had anything this good in a long while.
The Choux are why I come here. The ideal date night is lime scooting to this location to consume a variety of Choux on the spot.
Best sourdough in Calgary, order ahead for pickup.
Best bakery in Calgary The roll cakes are to die for! The choux and pain rustic are both amazing And their lunch sandwiches are so good, make sure to get them heated up!
This is hands down my favourite bakery in Calgary, maybe even in the world. This place is no joke! The best bread and desserts ever. I've never had less than superb customer service. Cannot recommend Mari enough!
One of the best cakes I’ve tasted. Very relaxing ambiance and the staff is great. Definitely coming back.
Amazing Bakery!
This bakeshop is incredible
Friendly staff and awesome baked goods. Make sure you try a choux if you are there, you won't regret it. My favourite is the passion fruit, but they are all so good!
Cute little bakery shop with really good roll cakes
Must stop in Calgary
Some of the best bread makers in the city. Right in the heart of east village. This place is a must. Delicious no fuss ham and cheese sandwiches on fresh baked baguettes. And if ypu have a sweet tooth they have some of the best choux pastry I've ever had with many varieties to try. Also many other special of the day sweets and they have coffee and tea if you're in for a sit down. I usually get mine to go and shame eat it in the car because it's so good I can't help but eat like a savage when I get my hands on the goods.
Great pastries
You should try the banana roll! #letsguide
Cakes and breads are great. A bit too pricy
Best roll cakes in the city
I don’t necessarily expect an extra cheerful smile or service but average will pass - that’s not what we found here. I visited the shop around 5 o’clock on Sunday. I understand they probably were tired but the staff behind the counter didn’t have a smile or even greeting; they just looked miserable. It made me question if I still wanted to have coffee and sweets. The food was just OK. I ordered the coffee roll cake and a raspberry one. The coffee roll was really quite bad, I’m referring to the sponge cake portion. It was dried out, texture was rough and kind of dense. The raspberry one’s sponge was better though not great. In other words, the pastry chef was capable of better but chose to take it easy I suppose. I was looking forward to trying the roll cake however now I just wanna roll.
Great flavorful hot chocolate with good whip cream, passion fruit choix pastry also really good. Cute place
I have only had the choux here (caramel, coffee, chocolate, vanilla). I'm more of a soft choux lover, BUT this is a harder exterior. Under lies a soft pastry. The exterior tastes of a caramelized sugar (in a good way). This harder exterior delivers a nice crunch element harmonized into the soft and creamy interior. The caramel flavour was alright. A little too sugary for me. The coffee was alright. The chocolate filling tasted of a dark rich chocolate...maybe a little too dark (strong) for my taste. And classic vanilla was pretty perfect. My judgement on choux lies in how well they do the classic vanilla. The price point seems correct. Presentation of products is clean and appealing. And i hear great things about bread.
My favorite bakery so far! Everything is so delicious and not so pricy, never disappointed!
The strawberry cheesecake is wonderful - soft and not too sweet. The baguette is also great. A must try. Last time I visited the bakeshop I ate a quiche. So good!
Amazing... life altering... ORGASMIC ????????
DELICIOUS. Delicate, lovely cakes and perfect cream puffs. The lemon tart is divine too.
Great & friendly staff
I wish I can give them 10 stars!!!! My fiancé and I are from Edmonton and we discovered them last year during a day trip. We placed an order on Saturday and when we went to pick it up, one item was missing. It was a simple misunderstanding but they didn't hesitate and replaced with something else. I was so wowed (hard to show my expression under a mask) by their generosity! Their roll cakes were so airy and light and their choux were soooo delicious!! Can't wait to go back soon for some more treats.
The sourdough bread here is amazing. So soft and light and airy! I pre-ordered the whole loaf and it's huge so I recommend getting the half loaf if it's just for one or two people.
I've been meaning to check out this bakery in East Village forever, and I'm glad I did! The interior was bright and inviting and the staff are friendly. This place is known for their choux and roll cakes. The choux are around bite sized and are $2.50 each. They have quite a large selection and apparently have some rotating flavours as well! I split half a dozen choux with the people I was with and we tried the passionfruit, hazelnut, coffee, coconut, smores, and raspberry flavours. Everybody liked theirs! Mine was the raspberry and it had great flavour without being too sweet. We also got a rose lychee roll cake to split ($4.50) and it was fluffy and creamy. Everyone got a round of coffee drinks at the table and they were your standard coffee shop quality. I enjoyed my latte. I would recommend this place to anyone who doesn't like desserts that are too sweet! I would definitely return. I'd love to see them develop some kind of point system like a buy 10 get the next one on us kind of deal.
Dropped by for a quick breakfast before walking down the river. A nice modern place with delicious roll cakes. I had the matcha while my friend had the cookies and cream. Both were delicious in their own ways. The coffee was good too. I hope they make a kaya roll someday.
Fresh and flavoury. You have to try their bread, sandwiches or desserts.
Really fantastic choux & coffee, but the line ups do get long so make sure to give yourself some time. Worth the wait though!
There's a reason why there is often a line up outside the store...the sourdough is sooooo good! We love walking there on the weekend and buying a fresh loaf. The choux are delicious too!!
My favourite bakery for Japanese roll cakes. They're delicious.
Yummy treats!!!
This place is amazing !!! The chef has an extraordinary experience in few 3 stars Michelin and his food shows it!!!! As a Parisian i reaalt feel like home!!!! Go there !!!!
Delicious!
Amazing bread and baguettes!
Amazing bakery ????
Highest quality quiche I've ever had. It made a very nice light breakfast.
Tasty french patisseries, and they can make a espresso without burning it, which says a lot. I'd recommend arriving early if you want full choice of their inventory. I haven't tried their breads yet, I'll update my review when I do.
Very good bread. Good cake rolls. I like quality tasty bread. I recommend this place , it has less variety but good quality !
Cannot say enough good things about Mari Bakeshop. They make the best baguettes (and I really do mean, the best) and amazing choux (my personal favorites are the ferrero rochoux and white chocolate dipped raspberry-rose choux which Mari makes on special holidays)! The rollcakes are nice when you are in the mood for a lighter dessert. We are truly very fortunate to have Mari Bakeshop in Calgary.
Best baguettes in the city. It's not close.
The sandwiches, bread, tea and cake rolls are really good.
This place is amazing. The roll cakes and chous were on point. Took a baguette home, and had to stop myself from eating the whole thing. Beautiful aesthetic for sitting down and enjoying the treats too. Great staff. All around Calgary must see.
I have been three times already to Mari Bakeshop and I have to say, it never disappoints. The service is great, staff is friendly. The atmosphere is like stepping into an escape from reality. The cakes and choux are delicious!!! I live on the other side of town and come to east village just to try new flavour of roll cake.
well I only tried their sourdough bread and it's amazing!! I obviously need to try other things too lol. I don't generally like bread but the sd bread here is exceptionally good. they even made pretty Christmas decorations on top!
The bread here is amazing and easily my favorite in the city.
Great smoked meat sandwich. Brad was nice and crusty.
My wife found this gem while we were in Calgary for a night. We went first thing in the morning when they opened and little to our surprise there was a line up.... We thought to ourselves a) It has to be good and people are ordering a lot OR b) the service is just slow. (More on this later) So while waiting in line the gentleman in front of us asked my wife what we were there for and she told him we came for deserts to bring back home (we are from Edmonton) for the kids and family (thanksgiving). He told us that is crazy we shouldn't be here for the deserts and we should really be trying to get the bread. He thought there are better places in Calgary for deserts. So by the time we get into the store the bread that the gentleman in front of us was there to get was sold out. Felt bad for him since it was at least 20-30 minutes by the time we even got to a point we could see inside. But he still ordered a few items and went on his way. Now back to what earlier.. my wife and I were still set on getting the creme puffs we came for. So we ordered 30 of them (5 boxes of 6), my wife had taken the time to figure out what each box would contain so it would be easier to give out to our friends and family. I also decided to take the advice of the gentleman, and ordered 2 sourdough breads, a baguette, some cute little pumpkin breadzles for the kids and myself a turkey stuffed sandwich. Needless to say the creme puffs were delicious even after a day of sitting in the fridge. I guess the gentleman's taste buds in front of is were more sophisticated. I definitely wouldn't shy from their deserts if you're craving! Now for the bread... I brought the pumpkin seed sourdough to my family's Thanksgiving dinner to share and give to my brothers.. and wow was it amazing. Super soft on the inside but just the right crust on the outside, and wow was it moist. I am normally not a sourdough person, but after having this changed my outlook on it. It was so good. I also gave one of the breadzles to my nephew and he loved it. He even ate it after having Thanksgiving dinner. We also brought over some creme puffs, which I didn't hear much about to be honest but I never got to have one. Now for the other sourdough I got and the creme puffs and breadzle we got for our daughter. First of all my daughter is SUPER picky, and for her to want 2nds and 3rds of this sourdough bread was amazing. But to be honest she loves bread/bagels etc. She also ate her breadzle before the sourdough and loved that. Now for the creme puffs, they were delicious and unfortunately I forgot to get a lot of pictures of the baked goods :( sorry they were very good to eat and very appealing to the eyes/stomach. Oh before I forget the turkey sandwich was scrumptious, filling and sooo yummy. My wife and I shared that for lunch/brunch. I would HIGHLY recommend checking this bakeshop out. If I could force you to do it, I would. Service was great and very helpful. Will definitely be going back the next time we are in Calgary! And sorry for the long drawn-out review.
Delicious treats and perfect coffee.
While i was pokemon hunting i came across this small bakeshop and i was hungry so i decided to check this place out. OMG! I am so thrilled that i did!!! These little morsels of sweet perfection was so delicious! The flavor of the day or week was PB&J. It was so so delicious. The cream filled choux was moist and light and not overly sweet, when you bite into it, burst of PB&J comes through. It was so good i had to go back and bought six more. Passion fruit. Coffee, Chocolate, PB&J, Hazelnut and they also specialize in roll cakes. So i got the Matcha Green Tea Roll. I only got one bite of the green tea cause my dog stole the rest ????. If you are ever near River Front by East Village across from the old Simmons warehouse, you have to check it out. #pastry #pastries #dessert #bakery #pastryporn #foodie #foodpornography #foodporn #yyceats #yyc #yycfood #sweetlife #sweets #yyceastvillage #pb&j
Best pastry shop in town, hands down, and not as pricey as the others, super friendly service in a very nice and modern setting.
Awesome latte. The pastries are really good, you can taste they use good quality ingredients.
Simple place with very good desserts and not so great coffee. Very good costumer service!
The choux's here are delicious. They are different from regular choux and have a crispy top. Coffee is my favorite flavor. The chocolate roll cake is my other go to here.
I had the ham and swiss sandwich and the blueberry cake roll. It was decent. I find the sandwiches and other pastries too expensive...must be because of the location. I highly recommend re-evaluating the prices to attract more customers. Good luck!
This is such a lovely bakeshop! Beautiful sandwiches made such lovely things like in house artisan bread, and Valbella meat. But the it's the eye catching bakery items that we couldn't resist buying multiples of. We bought six different kinds of the Chou bites (think of a kind of cream puff with crisp outer...and perfectly flavored creamy goodness inside), sponge roll, and a couple of tarts. My standard for a good bakery is how well they do a lemon tart… And this one was perfect! It made our day to discover this new place that we will be frequenting! (not to mention the nicest people own and run this bakery!)
Was always hearing about how delicious the rolls here are. Stopped in and picked up two slices to bring home - raspberry almond and chocolate hazelnut. We transferred them into air tight containers when we got home and ate them the next day. The cakes were still very soft, the cream was light and you could clearly taste the flavors without it being overpowering. Will definitely be coming back for more! Each slice was $4.50.
What a cute little bakery. Their cream filled cream puffs are extraordinary light and very flavourful. We tried the chocolate, raspberry, hazelnut and vanilla puffs - all very tasty. We're going to try the rolled cakes the next time - very unique flavours.
I love this place. They offer a fantastically large and delicious pain rustique in full, halves and quarters that always puts a smile on my face. Their pastries are amazing and the staff has always been friendly with me. Also offers tasty coffees and a nice place to sit down and read a book. Just tried their rye and caraway loaf and it's definitely worth trying out.
Mari is the Korean word for roll, and that's exactly what they specialize in: pretty roll cakes with swirls of coffee, coconut, or fruit-flavoured cream. Also not to be missed is their choux, or creampuffs. The choux at Mari is thin but sturdy enough to hold all the pastry cream that they generously pipe inside. For both Choux and rolled cakes, I cannot name my favourite flavours cause all are so yummy! Their selection of baked treats, sandwiches and bread are amazing. I cant wait to go back!
An excellent bakeshop with outstanding sourdough bread! Great customer service too!
The cute baked goods at Mari are absolutely delightful. The desserts aren’t over sweetened- they really are done to perfection. The lemon meringue is delicious too (shown in the photo I also had a baguette with cheese and tomato and had it heated up and it really hit the spot. Mari will always be my go-to bakery in East Village
I discovered this by chance as it was next to where I was staying. I went there on Sunday (Thanksgiving long weekend) at around 9:15 a.m. There was a line-up to the end of the street. They opened at 9 a.m. As we were waiting, I chatted with a gentleman in front of me and he informed me normally it's not this busy and he's here at least once a week to get their Rustic Bread. You come here for their BREAD! They were sold out of their Rustic bread around 9:35 a.m. The hubs and I had a plan, I ordered their Choux (basically cream puffs) and he took on the bread order. The Choux were delicious, not overly sweet and definitely filled to capacity. The pastry had a nice chew to it too and we ate it the next day, so it was still good, imagine the day of! Now to the bread, and oh boy, was it ever amazing! Did I mentioned that the gentleman stated that it was the best bread in Calgary? Now, well, I can't say for all of Calgary, but it sure was AMAZING BREAD! It was very pumpkin theme due to Thanksgiving. We got the pumpkin brepetzel (bread/pretzel, and it was really good, chewy, but not full pretzel but not full bread), pumpkin sour dough (this had pumpkin seeds throughout it's super soft dough with a very nice crispy crust (not burnt)), pumpkin bread shaped like a pumpkin and it was super soft/fluffy inside with amazing outer shell, and original baguette. Basically, soft/fluffy inside with crispy/semi hard crust. Mari is now on our official Calgary List to pick-up/bring back. Will definitely return!
Mari Bakeshop is amazing. Try the Pain Rustique. We are also waiting for a baguette right out of the oven.
(Translated) This place has delicious desserts. Also the hot chocolate here is very good. I ate coconut pionono and the flavor is very rich. It is a small and familiar place. The only thing is that sometimes it is closed and I miss eating a delicious dessert here. The attention is good and fast. (Original) Este lugar tienes postres deliciosos. También el chocolate caliente aquí es muy bueno. Yo comí pionono de coco y el sabor es muy rico. Es un lugar pequeño y familiar. Lo único es que a veces está cerrado y me pierdo de comer un postre rico aquí. La atención es buena y rápida.
What a wonderful bake shop! It's very modern, minimalist, and very clean. Walking in you feel like you've been transported to another continent. I had the coconut pineapple roll and the passionfruit choux, and both were absolutely incredible. The roll was soft and spongy with shredded coconut, pineapple and creme. The choux was the perfect amount of flaky pastry with a punch of tangy passionfruit inside.
cute little shop in East village! they have a variety of different roll cakes - ended up getting cookies & creme and pineapple coconut so good!! I would highly recommend this place :)
Quaint little bake shop with a friendly, albeit not overly gregarious, owner (hey introverts rock!). I don't particularly possess a sweet tooth, so I opted for the blackforest ham and swiss sandwich with freshly baked artisanal bread. (I must admit, I caught myself salivating when eyeing the Swiss rolls!) Omg this bakery is best, bro. I've heard this place was amazeballs, and it certainly lives up to the hype. I'm glad to have finally stopped into this gem, as it is just a hop and a skip across the bridge from me. Will be back soon!
Favourite bakery in EV ????
Love this bakery... Their loaves are delicious with soft insides and the best kind of chunky crusts, and even then their sweets are more amazing. Their shoe pastries are filled with delicious cream fillings (my favourite is the black sesame) and a cracklin on top for some extra texture. The rolls are beautiful as well and worthy to be anyone's sweet snack. Super close to the pathway system near the Bow River and they serve warm/cold drinks as well if you wanted to stop in while out for a walk!
Nice Place
Favourite bakery in the city, hands down! The menu is simple, but that's how you know everything is going to be amazing!! I have not had anything from Mari that I would not recommend - their rollcakes and choux are AMAZING! Please bring back greek yogurt pomegranate more often as that is my favourite rollcake!
Best sourdough in Yyc by far.
Delightful bakery in East Village. Nicely decorated space with great service and both beautiful and delicious desserts! We will be back again soon.
Excellent price for quality in a beautifully designed environment. Even if you don't have a sweet tooth, the place offers great savory tastes and "true", artisanal bread!
The food is delicious, the place is clean and the people are super nice. 10/10!
The BEST BREAD IN CALGARY ^_^!
The only place in Calgary to get a proper baguette. Their roll cakes are delicious; I love everything I've had from here
From a recommendation we decided to stop in Mari Bakeshop for breakfast and were not disappointed. The staff was so friendly in showing all their creations and providing us time to determine what we wanted. We tried a few different rolls and a coux along with bringing a loaf of bread home. Can’t wait to come back to Calgary and visit Mari again!
Best in Calgary
The roll cakes and cream puffs are sooo good! Incredibly moist and not too sweet!
Nice little spot for good pastries and coffee. They have a nice seating area and quick service if you need to grab and go. Definitely will be back again.
If you live in East Village, then make sure you check this place out.
Excellent bakery, modern decor and tasty sandwiches. Try the cheese & tomato roll with your latte and finish off with a raspberry roll slice, delicious!!
Had the Montreal smoked meat on s pressure bun with mustard and pickles. Very tasty. Then a slice of the blueberry roll cake. Also very yummy! The baked goods are as tasty as they are beautiful to look at! Highly recommended.
We only tried the pastrami sandwich on the pretzel and the raspberry roll cake. Both were delicious and well worth the price. Great atmosphere and warm staff!
This new Bakeshop is going places! The food is exquisitely presented and the quality is of the highest standards. Coffees & teas are also excellent. Ambience is modern and bright. My new favorite go-to destination! Go!
Tucked away in Eat Village below a condo building. Definitely highly recommend you to give this place a try if you’re in the area. Cakes and the filling are not too sweet and super moist. They also do a selection of cakes that are only available on the weekend. They also serve coffee and teas. Space is limited!
Worth the wait in a lineup.... amazing pasties
Stunning desserts, breads and sandwiches.
I got there 25 min before closing and the store was closed already ???? they were cleaning
Excellent selection of delicious pastries!
Cute little bakery in East Village. They sell out of bread pretty early and for good reason. Their other treats are delicious. The roll cakes are light and flavourful. I really enjoyed the raspberry one, it had a lot of raspberry flavour without being too sugary.
Yummy desserts, not the cheapest.
We had our custom gender reveal roll cakes done by Mari Bakeshop. Lauren was super responsive and was open to our ideas and even gave some of her own. It was so unique, delicious, and intricate - we could not have asked for a better reveal! We always have a pleasant time at Mari; with their excellent customer service and varieties of pastries, breads, and sandwiches, you can't go wrong with what you try there! I also love how they play with different, unique flavours. They regularly post their 'daily special' on their Instagram, so be sure to follow them! :)
Super adorable treats. Bringing some glam and excitement to roll cakes. Great, unique flavours, great bread and cute creme puffs
Delicious baked goods
Wow! This is a tasty little spot. Nice javas, and the Cake Rolls are fantastic - not too sweet, just right. Nice addition to the East Village and Calgary.
Phenomenal cakes, rolls and teas. Try the bread it's just delightful!
Calgary is lucky to have this Korean/French inspired bakery in the city. The location is easily accessible in East Village and the space is very aesthetic and clean. The choux and rollcakes come in many different flavours and I make an effort to try a new flavour each time I visit. So far everything I have tried is delicious and flavourful. I appreciate the branding and quality of the packaging too - Mari Bakeshop does a nice job with it's attention to detail!
A hidden gem. Their pastries are very good. A mix of Asian and Belgian influences, their dessert offerings as well as sandwiches are a welcome change to the everyday fare. Their hot chocolate is also richer than all the other places I've tried in Calgary save one (CoCoCo). They only issue I've ever had with the place was the inconsistency of their hours. Several times I've come to the place only to find that it was closed for the day.
Cute pastry and tasty food
Exquisite!!!!
cute shop with delicious desserts! A little out of my way but definitely worth the drive.
Wonderful Asian style bakery!
Great pastry. Good coffee freindly service.
This place is awesome!!!! We are from Edmonton, and I added this place as a must go every time we go to Calgary. I still can't decide what is better because everything is so tasty
Looking forward to your re-opening and getting some calories from you... with love!
Love the rolled cake. We had the pineapple coconut, chocolate hazelnut and matcha flavour. The cake is so tender. They are all good but our favourite is Matcha.
Awesome!
A customer just brought in creme puffs from here. Most delicious thing I've ever had in my whole life. Wish I had an endless supply.
I never had good quality baker shop in Calgary before! Everything is great taste and reasonable price too!
The baguettes are outstanding, and I have no doubt the other breads are as well. I plan to get some of the other types soon. The roll cake is a bit pricy but well worth the money. Amazingly soft cake, with perfectly flavoured cream. Quiche is delicious and rich.
The roll cakes are so good! Nice environment as well. Have to try other things next time.
Delicious choux!
(Translated) The best roll cake shop in Calgary (Original) 캘거리에서 제일 맛있는 롤케잌 가게
LOVE Mari. Their choux, roll cakes, and various other treats they come up with are delicious and unique - you really won't find similar baked goods elsewhere. It can be a little pricey, which is the only thing stopping me from going all the time - but that probably isn't a bad thing :) . Definitely worth the trip to come check it out and try some items if you haven't.
Everything here is amazing. Maybe the best bread in the city and the passionfruit cream puff will change your life
Poor packaging for takeout We have ordered two slices of rollcake to go, but they put it in a paper bag. I found it kinda inappropriate because the rollcake is soft with whipped cream on it. Things easily get crushed on the way home. They should really offer small boxes for their customers. Coffee is good tho.
Fantastic baguette, and great authentic French sandwiches
We have been going to Mari for years!! The roll cakes are amazing! I have ordered almost all my employee's birthday cakes from here. Coffee, Matcha, and Raspberry roll cakes are the best! The staff are polite and accommodating! They were super helpful with getting me my wife's surprise cake even though things got derailed on our end. We recebtly tried their sandwiches, pastrami and Genoa Salami. I wish I tried them sooner! The sandwiches are well-balanced in flavor and texture. Their baked bread is super crispy and light! So far everything we have tried has been awesome!!!
This is the perfect place to sit down for a cake roll and coffee. It's absolutely delicious and there's plenty of flavors to choose from, plus some great sandwiches on fresh breads.
Great pretzels!
Incredible baking/desserts!! The French bread is easily one of the best I have ever had! The roll cakes are not to be missed, the sponge melts in your mouth- definitely get the raspberry vanilla or apple cinnamon they are delicious!!
I loved my chocolate swiss roll cake and the latte was good it has a creamy texture and perfect taste. Friendly staff and nice ambiance.
Best sourdough
So dense and so little cream.
I like their cake rolls with greek yogurt the best, along with their choux.
Nice pastries in the emerging East Village area.
The roll cakes there are delicious and the coffee is good too, but everything is tad overpriced.
I can only speak for the bread, the pastry looked delicious, but the bread was delicious. Originally was in the area to check out sidewalk, fairly far drive so I've never bothered, but today was the day. Their selection was lacking so I went back to my car in frustration without buying anything and happened across this bakery. Thank God because I was treated to an experience. Purchased a baguette, pain rustique, and a Montreal smoked meat sandwich. The sandwich was an experience. Nothing particular stood out besides the bread, the meat was very good, but the whole experience together just played beautifully. Just a perfect pairing of mustard, cheese, pickles, smoked meat, and bread. The baguette was great, I've had slightly better and far worse, but the pain rustique was amazing. The flour had become toasted, the crust was crispy and had a great bite and aroma, the flavor, slight sour note and heavily aromatic. You just know they got a high quality starter gurgling in the back. I cut one slice off to try and ate about a quarter of the loaf. Price-point, It's downtown and amazing quality, worth it.
This is a locally owned place. The owners are really nice and the food is amazing a reflection of their international experiences. The choux and roll cakes are one of my favorite desserts in Calgary, the bread is awesome for such things as toast and sandwiches, the coffee is great and the people at the counter are friendly. I've been coming since it first opened and the quality has been awesome throughout!!!! Thankuou Doug and Lauren for all that you do!
Excellent roll cakes, choux, and lemon meringue tarts. Not to mention rustic sourdough bread to die for...so good
Great bread and pastries
It's my second time visiting and the choux pastries are amazing as always, especially vanilla and raspberry. This time, we arrived right when they opened at 10 am hoping to get first selection on their roll cakes. However, none were available and we were advised they might be ready around noon... A little disappointing!
Like always, great pastries and atmosfere, clean, perfect service ,never disappointing
Best bread in the known universe! Please bring back the rum baba! That was amazing!
Mari's chocolate brioche are addictive! Lemon meringue tarts are an absolute treat!
Very good at everything. Love the Lattes. Very unique desserts. Usually get the smoked meat sandwich. Ambience is great. Low key sophisticated decor.
I really enjoyed their roll cakes! Not too sweet and soft and moist, quiet and beautiful decor... i also really love their choice of cutleries, trays, and teapots... I can see how much thoughts they put into each aspect of the shop! Price per cake is about $5, not cheap but portion was generous and I was very satisfied at the end! Very friendly staff :)
Great cute little bakery
Really great place. Specialty items are the nicely presented and amazingly tasty rollcakes and choux. Or, you can have a cup of coffee with hearty sandwich, which has the most amazing bread ever.
Absolutely delicious, loved the choux pastries and the baguette was hearty and delicious
Great place with delicious bread and latte..
Great tea. Highly recommend the black sesame choux ( if you like black sesame). Very clean, staff is friendly.
Great cakes
Best hot chocolate in Calgary
Very tasty. Good variety as well
Amazing food at this bakery! These guys worked at the world class French laundry restaurant in California and decided to set up shop here! Lucky us.
Best birthday cake ever!
It’s very yummy and the pastries taste very authentic/flavourful (not just sweet like many other places). The shop is beautiful and prices are not too bad. I had a sandwich that I think was called a pastromi and it was really good. Simple and hearty.
By far the best bakery in Calgary hands down
A very modern bake shop in the inner city that is filled with absolutely delicious treats. Very clean interior with friendly staff. If you are in the area you absolutely must come here.
Their roll cakes are amazing.
It’s so good !!
This place was suggested by the staff at East Village Development Centre. High quality pastries and friendly staff. We ordered chocolate and caramel tart, lemon meringue tart, chocolate roll cake, and blueberry roll cake. Amazing taste!
When I read about a new bakery/coffee shop in Calgary I was cautiously optimistic because the photos seemed promising. My visit there yesterday exceeded all expectations. I have gone to many of the best patisseries in Montreal, Paris, and Vienna and this Bakeshop ranks with the best of them. The choux pastry is nice, light, and has a bit of crunch on top and the fillings are amazing - I would highly recommend the vanilla bean one among others. The roll cakes are also perfect, moist, with creams/fillings that are light but flavourful. Not to mention the bread! I had both the baguette and the rustic loaf and they are both the perfect texture and flavour. I went yesterday and had to go back today. It will take a lot of effort to resist going back tomorrow. For the high quality the prices were very reasonable. I am excited that you opened and I look forward to visiting again and again. =o)=)
Love the chocolate roll cake Gotta try this place
Coffee is not expensive, and the desserts are awesome
Very cute shop, with really good cream puffs and cake rolls! Definitely coming back during the summer!!
To check out more food/places in Calgary search #foodvity on Iinstagram. Omg!! This dessert is amazing like macaroons but not as sweet. Great to enjoy these crispy puffs with friends n family!! You can do takeout or enjoy the silence in the cafe. Highly recommended!!
Fun place to get some Japanese style treats; VERY tasty
Their fluffy rolls are great!
A gem in East village. Pretty much everything is good there.
We started an urban hike with a Chocolate Vanilla Brioche bun and Strawberry Rollcake. 3 hours later we finished our hike with a vanilla Choux pastry. All tasted authentic and delicious. We'll be back!
Great pastries, unfriendly service.
Stopped in after a walk on the river and was pleasantly surprised with the selection of deserts and bread they had to offer. Husband and I took home two Strawberry rolls, one honeydew and one hazelnut and they were to die for. They were not too sweet which is perfect! Will definitely be stopping by again. Its a wonderful hidden gem in the city.
Have to get the hazelnut roll
Love all their items. Must try. The bread and roll cakes are to die for.
Simply delightful. Excellent customer service and consistent high quality products.
Couldn't get any better, seriously!
A good place to have a coffee and a pastry with a friend
My new Calgary favorite second only to Wild Rhubarb + Buck. The Chocolate Roll... HEAVEN! Everything else is too notch and amazing.
Beautiful inside and the service is very friendly. It’s a little crowded by the doorway due to the set up, and not much room for sitting but I don’t usually sit in coffee shops anyway so whatev’s. Get yourself a choux and love yourself today.
Excellent all around.
Wonderful, polite staff. Great baking and excellent coffee.
Very clean environment and very friendly staff...I drove down from red deer for the rustic bread.... No go... Have to order online! Will have to come down next week! From the looks of things... Will be worth it! The extra shot... Extra hot cappuccino was sooooo worth it!!
Amazing bread, always friendly, we are lucky to have such a great bakery in our city!
Tiny bakery, choux is so so delicious and the cake rolls are light, fluffy and fresh
Best roll cakes in town!
I stop here multiple times a week and I find it always to be very fresh and tasty! Staff is friendly and helpful. A great little local find in the East Village.
Instead of making dessert for thanksgiving this year, I decided to order a roll cake and choux from Mari. To say the least, I'm pretty sure no one in my family was disappointed that we did not have pie. Their pastries are amazing, and their flavour is on point!
Best dessert rolls and sandwiches!!! Staff is always so friendly.
BEST BAKERY. All the baking is perfect and delicious. The staff is careful, pleasant and cheerful. The sandwiches are amazing to look at and sooooooo good to eat! favorite place in the EV.
