Lakeview seems to specialize in breads and baked goods for special diets (allergies, organic products, low carb, etc.) However, they have regular stuff too, a nice selection of "Canadian classics" and these were fairly good. -- "Mimi's Cake Tour"
They have a good selection of breads for different diets. I go there to shop for Gluten Free products. Good selection of breads and desserts.
The gluten free sourdough bread is amazing and actually tastes like real bread. Especially delicious toasted. The baked goods sweets section is not my favourite, as it's a bit too sweet for my liking but I would definitely go back just to pick up that bread for my daughter so she can have something that tastes just as delicious as wheat bread!
They've got some unique yummy stuff, visit there every two weeks to stock up my goodies... price is good so is the quality...
The absolute best gluten free sourdough bread ever!!!! Don’t make the mistake I did of buying one, buy many loaves!!!!!
Fantastic gluten free foods
Love the Spelt Sourdough bread not for health, but for mouth feel in sandwiches. GOLD!
Excellent allergy and general baking.
I love their fresh cookies. And I love the fresh baked smell in the place but don't be disappointed - the cookies and bread are NOT warm. ???????? If this was useful please press the like button.
Great option and super tasty for gluten free
Amazing. They have items that are both gluten free and vegan. I never find food (outside produce), especially baked goods, that meet both criteria. I was in heaven having to decide what treat to get. I settled for the maple pea butter cookie and it was incredible. Can't recommend this place enough! Plus they carry teff n' greens gf Ethiopian food. So thankful to still be able to get gf Ethiopian now that there's no more teff n'greens to eat at.
Great selection of health snacks. I'm here for the treats though. Might I say. They make the most delicious ginger snap cookie everrrr.
Very impressed with this place. Their website is not impressive but don't let that turn you off. Sooo much variety. I was able to find gluten free things I haven't had for years like pastries and cinnamon buns. Also their prices are really good. So maybe gluten free things are quite expensive but here the prices were great.. And treats were awesome. Definetly will return. They do simple custom cakes for anyone interested. And again not gonna break the bank.
My kids love their goodies, and I love their low carb breads & buns. Always fresh, and tastes great!! A little pricey, but so, so good. Staff is always super friendly, and helpful.
Great gluten free low carb options.
Great selection of Gluten free and vegan baking.
picked up 5 gluten free items 2 cupcakes and 3 other items. The cupcakes were far from fresh. Altough the other items were better they still were off. Daren Thank you for the quick response. The cupcakes ... one was chocolate and the other was lemon - raspberry. We are not looking for a refund.. we were looking forward to a treat and we were diappointed.
Excellent gluten free, dairy free chocolate cake with chocolate icing. Fluffy and delicious. The snickerdoodles and ginger cookies were pretty good. Blueberry pie was quite enjoyable.
Always pleased with their variety of options! Quite delicious too.
This cake was SO bad, do not order it. Its identical to a cheap safeway cake. Identical icing and everything. It's almost as if they bought a safeway cake and gave it to me. I ordered chocolate cake with chocolate icing. :puke:
FANTASTIC Bakery! They have really delicious gluten free brownies especially! The only problem is the store isn't accessible - it's not really their fault but there is stairs everywhere outside so I have to hobble to the store and pray I don't fall and crack my skull open.
I come here because of the low Carb bread. They also sell low carb pizza crust and buns. They basically have breads for many specific dietary needs. The low carb bread is called "Trimcea" and they have 4 types.
I love their spelt bread. It's delicious and it feels better than regular wheat bread.
Delicious pies! So happy they have such a diverse selection of gluten free and dairy free items!
Stopped at the Lakeview Bakery yesterday to buy some gluten free bread for my daughter and thought I would buy a couple of treats for myself. I bought the Almond Tarts and raspberry (or strawberry cant even tell) nanaimo bars. First I asked for two Almond tarts and one nanaimo bar and got home to find they had put 2 of each in the brown paper bag. So make sure you double check. 2nd they were terrible!!! Almond tarts so dried out and the bar was so gross. I think it must be a alcohol based flavoring that tastes rotten. Hopefully the bread is ok haven't tried it yet
This is a great spot for delicious baked good with a healthy angle.
Good options for Gluten free and Dairy free foods
Always friendly service, and the low carb bread & buns are really great!
Great place for gluten dieter
Consistently delicious!
Fantastic vegan options!
Amazing Vegan, Gluten free and many other options. Loved everything I have tried. The owners are the best people I have met. They custom make on request which is absolutely lovely.
What a great find today... finding gluten free options is never easy! A full bakery!!!! Wow! Bought some bread and a strawberry rhubarb pie!!!! Definitely worth checking out!
Cheese bagels and Nanaimo bars are incredible!
Hands down most delicious gluten free bread in the city thus far. No sandy textures, just pure fluffy, moist (lol) greatness.
There are some products that can not be heat it up on microwave without change it's flavor. Sausage roll is one good example. My review is based on couple rows a bought there. I hope other products delivery a different experience.
Vegan Sourdough breads were good. Friendly service
Great variety and polite
Went there earlier this week staff was horribly rude and had a bad selection most things were sold out. Won't be back.
Phenomenal selection of artisan breads and other baked goods. Wholesome ingredients. Sourdough is soft and tasty especially as tuna sandwich.
Great service
Great bakery!
Never actually went to this store but, I found your flax buns and spelt loaves at Blush Lane in Calgary and am loving this bread so very much. I'm from Edmonton and hoping they send some loaves and buns up here for me! I've never seen this bread in Edmonton! If it is available in Edmonton, please let me know where I can buy more buns and loaves.
I used to really like this bakery, but their products have gone downhill in quality over the past few years. I used to love their Cherry Almond muffins, but the last 3 times I've bought them (over the course of about a year), there were hardly any cherries in the muffins. In fact, this last package of 6 had two muffins with NO cherries at all, and three with ONE cherry in each. They are also consistently dry, whereas before, they were moist and packed full of cherries! They also poisoned me at their SW location, by giving me something that wasnt gluten free, after I'd repeatedly asked what was gluten free and explained that I was Celiac. When I brought it to their attention, I barely received an apology - more of an excuse ("well that location offers some items that are not gluten free"). I'm seriously debating whether or not I will ever buy any of their products again, which is really unfortunate, as their quality used to be much higher and it's hard to find gluten free bakeries in Calgary. For these reasons, I would not recommend Lakeview Bakery to anyone.
Bought a gluten free cake $46.00 for an 8 inch cake. Vanilla with whipping cream and strawberries. I/2 strawberry per slice on top of cake. One layer of whipping cream in the middle of the cake with maybe 1/4 of a strawberry in the middle. Really guy’s. My birthday girl was so disappointed with the lack of strawberries inside the cake. That the whole conversation while having the cake was how we ordered a strawberry cake and got totally ripped off on the strawberries. The cake was bland!
Staff were excellent at helping me package up their excellent goodies for sharing...COVID style. Love they they use paper and not plastic!
Was just in the store where I wasn't served even though I have a mask exemption. I got so mad as I had been standing in store for 10 minutes in a screaming match with employee. Was so passed off I left as my buddy kept at it. Owner finally came out and offered my friend service
The breads are amazing! Awesome choices. The only place I've been able to find yeast free and sugar free (which I needed when I had two of my babies and they developed thrush, cutting out sugar and yeast was a must!). So I'm thankful that they even had this option. I also love their cheese breads and their low carb bagels (I almost didn't mention the bagels cause I don't want them to sell out haha). But they're so good toasted with butter melted ! One tiny thing for me which is why there's one star missing is their treats section. Every time I've had a cookie, cupcake, brownie or a type of bar, I've been very underwhelmed. That's all. You can probably gather from other reviews that their sweets department probably needs some work (maybe a different baker for that?), sadly it's true. They also carry other grocery items in their fridges and on their shelves that are gluten free which is a bonus!
Great young lady that I believe does the baking and counter work. Great desserts! Good every weekend!
Food quality has sadly, went a little downhill. The front of house staff are polite and I do thank the girls out front, but the back of house? Maybe someone should take a look at their baking?
Excellent gluten free options, especially their chocolate chip cookies... Yum
Fresh and tasty
Awesome GF bakery. They have tons of options and their baked goods are actually good (not bricks like most GF baking). They also have a bunch of GF brands and frozen stuff.
I love your sour dough spelt bread! I also bought a Date Square. I was shocked at the amount of sugar that was in it. You could make a whole pan with that much sugar. "Sugar is NOT fun", fabulous informative TED talk.
They have amazing brownies!
Mega flax square is quite good, I bought it from their temporary booth in Stephen Ave.
Friendly staff and besides the amazing baked goods, there are lots of products including- unique pastas and a frozen section!
I bought a vanilla /strawberry cake. It was the worst tasting cake I have ever eaten. We paid $45.00 for a small cake that had granular tasting icing. Very disappointed , drove there because of reviews.
Lakeview Bakery has a couple locations, offers GF, vegan, and other specialty options. One of the few locations for GF or specialty cakes and while they don't have a catalog of kid themed cakes, with a week's notice, they can do photo cakes. Their GF and vegan options are comparatively tasty compared to other similar options in market. Easy parking and friendly knowledge staff round out the visit.
The gluten free cinnamon buns are very yummy!
Best bakery ever! I have so many crazy food intolerances and Lakeview bakery beats all the other bakeries. I can get EVERYTHING I need, not to mention their great customer service. Very knowledgeable staff!
Great choices and wonderful local business. The Gluten free sourdough tastes great and is light on the tummy
Purchased a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving. It was so awful we were unable to eat it. The flavour and consistency made it completely inedible. Incredibly dissaponinted.
Great Bakery
Lakeview bakery has the most delicious gluten/dairy free cupcakes! I'm not gluten free, but have lots of GF friends/family and these cupcakes are still my fav ????
Had a cake made there for a baby gender reveal party and they could not follow basic instructions. We simply asked to have the inside of the cake blue or pink. We handed them a envelope with the gender and then when we picked up the cake it was fully pink. How is that messed up.
I absolutely love their chicken rolls and spicy sausage rolls. They are a goto lunch combo with a chocolate milk and maple brownie! Can fill up for lunch for less than 10 bucks, always a win. Kids also love their sugar cookies.
This is my favourite bakery! Offering plenty of organic baked goods and a wide selection of allergy friendly baking as well. I definitely recommend this bakery and highly recommend trying their sourdough spelt bread.
I bought a black forest cake for my fiancée earlier this year and it was delicious!! Incredibly moist, creamy and perfectly sweet and they even wrote Happy Birthday with her name on the top! Thank you to you all - you’re doing an awesome job, keep up the great work!!
I am usually quite happy with whatever treats we get from this bakery as its always delicious but today i was disappointed my macaron were so dry and hard and so were the brownies unfortunately
Yummy super low carb bread and buns (Trimcea)!
Good selection of gluten free, but everything is super chemical and sugar laden, the ingredients read like a product from a factory. That being said, their gf bread is a definite step up up from frozen grocery store bread.. Cakes, muffins and treats are all super duper sweet and yet somehow flavourless although the texture is good. Stick to the bread and go elsewhere for everything else.
