Their cheese buns might be the best, but their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. They manage to screw up almost every birthday cake I have ordered. Last time we went to pick up my grandson's birthday cake on behalf of my daughter and they insisted the order was only for 12 cupcakes. Turns out they were wrong. We had to drive all the way back to pick up the cake and they told my daughter there would be a discount....nope! They gave us a bag of cheese buns for free instead. So, $20 for the muffins, $70 for the cake and more than an hour driving back and forth....I'm done. Won't be ordering any more cakes from them which is a shame as I've been a faithful customer for years.

The baking is delicious! But it felt super confusing on the flow of "traffic", and though there was a ton of staff behind the counter it felt like it inconvenienced them when asked for assistance. It could have just been an off day, but had me very close to just walking out. If I hadn't previously been here, I would have. The baking, especially the cheese buns, is amazing!

While their cheese buns are very good, I was disappointed with the carrot cake that I ordered for my husband's birthday. I was expecting the cake itself to be more moist than it was. It was also quite a dense cake and the cream cheese icing tasted more like buttercream than cream cheese icing. I also picked up an apple pie and pulled out the stem of an apple from the filling. Overall, I guess I expected better quality with all the positive reviews.

I used to patron this bakery often and for many years until I moved form Calgary and recently upon my return I paid a visit only to find that things have really changed and not for the good for the most part...I wanted cream puffs but they were previously frozen and not fresh which made them soggy, also was the case with the Vanilla slice, the pastry was soggy...The classic cheese buns couldn't be found only what looked like pieces of cheese buns...I ordered other stuff too and the only things that were tasty and edible in my opinion were the almond tarts which were stillvery tasty even though they were previously frozen and the glazed butterfly cookies...let's just say my visits to the Glamorgan bakery have come to an end sadly as I've found better quality at other places now.

10 stars if I could!! My friend called me 2 hours before her husband's birthday asking me to find a tall Black Forest cake for 20+ people! I called around and just went into here. They had 2 left - one was already reserved! The staff were great and ran into an old friend that suggested the cheese buns - omfg heaven!!! Kevin outside is a friendly gent as well, what other bakery has a personal outside greeter?!?!

WOW WEE! YUMMY! I am a big fan of bakeries and this is THE BEST bakery I have ever had the pleasure of shopping at. Their cheese buns are the best Ive ever had, best cake pops Ive ever had, and wholly mamma, their chocolate cake is AMAZING! I have to control myself from not going there too often or I would easily gain alot of lbs from all those carbs lol Ive been to MANY bakeries in my life, mostly in B.C and AB, and this is hands down the best for the items mentioned above. I have yet to try everything they have. within reason of course.

We came here for a birthday cake. Got the Mocha cake (I think it was 7" for $20). The person helping us was very efficient. She quickly went to the back and wrote "Happy Birthday" with very good icing skills. The cake was not too sweet nor with too much coffee taste. It was perfectly balanced (the sweetness and the caffeine taste introduced each other by being a contrast to one another). When serving the cake, make sure it sits at room temperature for at least 20 minutes. We were too eager to eat it that the icing was a bit frozen (can be good during the summer time as it can taste like an ice cream treat). We also bought some chocolate dipped spritz ($6.75 for a dozen). They were buttery, crispy, soft, and chocolatey). A definite must have from the bakery.

My favorite treats here are the cheese sticks and the sausage rolls which remind me of my childhood. I have personally ordered a red velvet birthday cake which also did not disappoint. The Glamorgan Bakery is a very special bakery that stands the test of time. The service here is also fantastic and the staff here appear to work very hard and they seem to really care about their patrons. A+ all the way.

I'm honestly not sure what the fuss is about, $6-8 for cheese bread. It's a bit pricey and I'm not sure that I'm a huge fan. Their cakes are ok, very simply decorated. There are a number of smaller boutique bakeries popping up all over the city, but I find Glamorgan to be pretty average in comparison.

We've been coming here for ages for the cheese buns and small treats, but recently tried their black forest cake for the first time and we absolutely loved it. They fold cherry preserves into a whipped cream base for the filling between layers of moist cake, so it feels light and fluffy while still being packed with cherry flavour. Great value and presentation. I'll definitely be sourcing my cakes from here going forward!

Calgary's Bakery gem. While not a fan of their slab cakes, you can't go wrong with anything here. Can't decide on a cake? Try the cake pieces and satisfy everyone. The cheese buns are worth the trip alone. They also make their own stroopwaffles.

Everything I’ve tried here is delicious. The cheese buns are undoubtably the best in the city, the cakes are wonderfully decedent, and their lemon meringue pie has a sweetness to the meringue that is unmatched. Though Glamorgan is 30 minutes away from my house, it’s worth every minute of the drive and more.

Wanted cake.. checked this bakery and saw lots of good reviews and since it's a traditional bakery thought will give it try. Just before paying for the cake saw these cheese buns in the middle aisle getting re stocked. Thought I'll buy one. Went to the car and since I was hungry just had a bite of the cheese bun... OMG.. I could not believe it was so simple down to earth delicious. Loved it so much that immediately after tasting it went in and bought 2 more bags. It's a must try. Seriously great job by these girls and guys at this bakery. Easily the best bakery in Calgary. It's easy to see that they truly put love and passion in their baking. Superb job.

CHEESE BUNS! Need I say more? Pricing slightly on the higher end ~$1.10 each but so delicious! Wish they would have cheaper pricing when you buy more. You can buy the dough version for slightly cheaper but have to put them in the oven yourself.

There's lots of selection and even though it seems pretty busy each time I go there I've never seen a line longer than 2 people because they're so efficient.

One of the best bakeries in town! Dropped by today to pick up a platter for the office and ended up buying a couple bags of cheese buns for the family. The kids inhaled the buns and have requested I go back for more. There is no shortage of baked goods and would highly recommend this place! The staff are super friendly and made me feel like I was a regular visiting a small town store. Will definitely be back!

I'm here for the glammy chez buns. They're delicious, so buttery, there is no other cheese bun that could amount to these cheese buns. That's why there is a line. They are doing their best to adhere to covid restrictions. I was here a couple weeks ago (before further restrictions) and guy was running in and out of the store taking orders, organizing the line, taking payments; good work, guy!

Items are OK. Good Whole Wheat bread. Tarts are delicious just a little too sweet. The place needs an overhaul. Looks like needs serious attention or will come down soon and needs cleaning too. Need a Birthday cake? Give them a couple of days and they will make a memorable one for you! Need some wholesome bread for sandwiches or snacking? They have a great variety of bread. My favourite here is their Sourdough bread! Just need a treat? Show up and look because their display counters are always full of options. They always have seasonal treats too so you can enjoy new treats all year long. My absolute favourite from here though has to be their peach pies! There are not many places in Calgary to get peach pies. This is one of them and they do an amazing job! The crust is always light and crispy with plenty of delicious peaches inside. I bet you cannot stop at one slice. Hahaha.

Tried this bakery for the first time and absolutely loved it. I ordered a cake for my daughter and it was delicious.It was fresh the cream was fresh and it never felt like I was eating a regular cream cake from a retail it tasted like a Bakery cake freshly baked. I ordered online on Sunday and Monday they emailed me to confirm the order for Tuesday and I picked it up on Tuesday. but don't try your luck and order in advance so they have the time to bake THE cake for you. Very very reasonably priced and delicious.

Parents spoke fondly of the place from when they lived in the area as kids. Bought them a cake to bring to a daughter-in-law's birthday. Red velvet cake was hit or miss, parents weren't fond and said it was overpriced at $33 versus ie Sunterra, but were very happy with the almond cake pieces (not available as a full cake anymore without a preorder).

I just had my first visit to Glamorgan Bakery which came highly recommended by other reviewers. I was quite satisfied with the courteous and professional service I received. My counter clerk was very kind and receptive to my request. I chose to pop in and randomly grab a pre-made birthday cake (chocolate ganache - very rich, not too sweet, a bit too much icing but that’s it).There was a rich selection of cakes to choose from in various sizes. Affordable prices (got eight cupcakes to compliment the cake and paid under $50 for it all). The store layout was also excellent as the cakes were located in a revolving glass refrigerated case positioned at the front entrance. Tell tale sign of a great business is a steady flow of customers and this place certainly had that! Looking forward to my next visit.

Orders a “special order” for my daughter’s birthday. The cake taste was like a $2 boxed cake with after taste. Everyone couldn’t even finish a single piece from their plate. Coop or Sobeys cakes are much much tastier and almost 1/4 of the price. Would never buy from there and not recommend anyone to spend that much money on a low standard cake. Update: they refund my money for the cake which was so nice of them.

The team had a working system to ensure those who ordered didn't have to join the long line outside. The got cup cakes, raisin bread, cheese bread and some other baked products. My son will love the raisin bread - it's loaded with raisins. I am not a fan of sweet treats - cup cake so won't have much to say. However, the bread like products are soft and light. I will update more as this is my first time trying them out. Thanks to shine FM 88.9 .

First off, I want to start by saying I grew up just a few blocks away from Glamorgan Bakery. I have really fond memories of walking over with my parents and getting cheese buns and sugar cookies in the 90s. Today, the team went above and beyond for me. I had a birthday emergency.... our 2 year old pulled our 5 year olds birthday cake out of the fridge and smashed it. I went into Glamorgan Bakery looking for a replacement cake. I told them my story and that my daughter really wanted a rainbow cake (like the one that got smashed). They jumped into action and decorated a chocolate cake on the spot, putting a beautiful rainbow and a birthday message for my little girl. You just don't get service like that anymore. In just 10 minutes, I had a customized cake ready for her party. They saved the day. Also the cake was delicious, as usual. Go in and see for yourself what a great bakery this is.

Going back years and years I cannot recall a time where my experience with Glamorgan's staff was anything less than stellar. They are charming and warm and welcoming. You can ask stupid questions and they make you feel perfectly fine about it. I was delighted to visit Glamorgan on Tuesday and see four separate groups of people standing in the parking lot talking and wolfing down cheese buns. So hilarious. The carrot cake they made for my mom's birthday was hands down the best carrot cake I've ever tasted. Just amazing. Food is incredible, staff is incredible. What a great business. Happy to visit every time I'm through Calgary!

Finally went to the Glamorgan Bakery for the first time in August 2021. We went on a late Saturday morning and just beat the rush because once we went in, people started to form a line outside the bakery. We got the infamous cheese buns, cinnamon buns and doughnuts. The cheese buns were so fluffy and delicious!! Cinnamon buns were the perfect amount of cinnamon. The doughnuts were what really surprised and impressed us the most. Texture similar to Krispy Kreme so we will definitely be coming back!

I felt like getting a sweet treat for my daughter and myself. I had heard good things about the Glamorgan Bakery and decided to check it out. We got a couple of sausage rolls, a cake pop, a donut, and a cherry strudel, no word of a lie, the length of my fore arm. Everything got 2 thumbs up from my daughter, and me too. Some bakeries market themselves as old fashioned so they can charge hipsters 2 to 3 times the price just for the "experience.". That's not the case here. They just ARE an old fashioned bakery with tastey items that are fairly priced. Will definately be a repeat customer.

I live abroad now and because of COVID, couldn’t come home to celebrate my dad’s milestone birthday. Bev at Glamorgan Bakery was extremely helpful in arranging the order of a personalized cake and delivery to him. The cake turned out beautifully, my dad was very surprised, and I got texts from my parents later that night calling it scrumptious, delicious, and so much more...and they’ve said they’ll be referring friends to the bakery for cakes from now on. Here I am supporting a local business, and she had the nerve to say to me "you can't have 2 people helping you at once"... with such a rude tone. It's generally a good thing when people are nice and helpful especially during a pandemic but to be rude to a customer and staff...go home or get a different job!

This is the first time I visited the bakery, because everyone is raving about the cheese buns. So I took some time today to visit and check the place out. I was looking at the pastries in the glass display, a a women with short cut blonde hair and glasses, looking visibly annoyed impatient with my browsing wanted to know what I wanted. So I tell her I wanted to get some donuts and start listing off some of kinds I want. She gets even more annoyed and wants to now how many I’m getting so she can decide if she needs a box for them. So I tell her I want about half a dozen, and then start listing off the kinds I want. When I get to about 6 kinds, she storms off and says, “okay 6!” Which I literally had just finished telling her. She comes back and I have to tell her again what kinds I wanted, and then when I’m done, she stalks off to the cash. She cashes me out without one word spoken to me until she hands me the bag and says have a good day. I have to say, for this being the first visit, this was not good customer service. Even through her mask, I could see this woman was visibly annoyed that someone should want to browse to see what your bakery offers. I understand that your a very busy bakery and it’s a small area for people to shop, but maybe you should think about having this woman task rather than being customer facing. I know it definitely left a bad taste in my mouth and doesn’t make me want to come back, no matter how good your items are.

If I could give this place zero stars i would. There is zero customer service being displayed here. I pre ordered a cake and went at my schedule time to pickup. I entered the bakery, and although there were at least 6+ staff working nobody acknowledged me or greeted me. I stood in front of the counter waiting for someone to speak to me, finally, an older woman asked if I had been helped. She was rude, and her demeanour was as if she would rather be anywhere else. I told her what name my cake was under and she proceeded into the back. She then came out holding a receipt for someone else’s cake and asked if the name on the receipt was my name, it was not, visually frustrated she went back to find my cake. When she came out with the correct order, she made a point to tell me it was not under my first name. It’s customers like myself who’s business keeps this place open and her with a job, so if I could make a suggestion it would be to ensure your employees know how fortunate they are to even have employment right now and to maybe show some appreciation for the customers. I paid for my cake and left, I will not be returning. There are plenty of other businesses with much better staff.

We were disappointed with a birthday cake that, after 4 hours in the fridge, still had frozen custard. Obviously not fresh! The chocolate curls were the most waxy chocolate I've ever encountered. I never refuse chocolate, but this was my first time sending it to the organic bin. And my expectations of a natural cake, with eggs and wheat flour and butter, were destroyed with my 4 a m. bout of stomach issues with soy, which is apparently sometimes part of your cake recipe. $22 wasted since we had to toss most of the cake. Happy birthday!

We came because of the famous cheese buns. Funny thing, we don't live too far away, but never realized how close we were to a Calgary destination bucket list. Unfortunately, they were sold out of fresh cheese buns. We were able to get frozen thawed ones along with other baked goodies. Great options at the bakery, however, the cookies I got were just alright. The chocolate chip cookies weren’t the chewy thick ones that I usually prefer but rather thin and all you tasted was sugar. I had ordered a cake 2 weeks before my son's birthday. I called a day ahead to confirm everything (which took them a long time to find the order). An hour before I was to pick it up, they called to say they don't have the deco pack. They offered to refund the difference, but you'd think it would be a little more professional - in that they'd check to see they have everything you need well in advance...It really felt like they completely missed the order - until the last minute. I have gone here for over a decade and I have to say today I was dissapointed in the customer service. There were multiple girls behind the counter chatting, making eye contact with me as i stood at the till, but not willing to help. After a minute or two another girl came over and asked if i needed anything other then my cheese buns. I asked for a few different kinds of donuts and waited for her to get them at the till. The girl joined in on the conversation with her coworkers while she got the donuts, which lead to her getting my order completely wrong. I didn't realize this until I had already left, so it's rather frustrating that the workers seem to care more about gossip then properly filling an order.

Their cakes are excellent. However I think they may freeze them after baking. I ordered a mocha cake for my dad's birthday a couple of days in advance and picked it up several hours before dropping by my parents. Parts of the cake were still close to frozen so of you order a cake (rather than just picking up a display cake) you may want to plan for enough time to fully thaw before serving. Their other backed goods are not particularly noteworthy for taste.

I'm a long time customer of Gamorgan and today I was shocked at the poor service and lack of sanitary concerns for their customers. I purchased some mini cakes and the lady behind the counter had her fingers all over them. The cookies I purchased normally get gently placed in a box, just not today . They were tossed into a paper bag and were all broken by the time i drive 3 blocks home. The bread was put in the bag on it's back side and is now squished. Very disappointed.

I called ahead to ask if they baked fresh cakes daily, or if I needed to call a day or so ahead. The gentleman told me there were some fresh cakes to choose from. I was there in less than an hour from the NW to look at the selection. When I got there, the lady told me that I needed to special order a fresh cake, and showed me a selection of all the previously frozen cakes on display to choose from. There were also 2 male staff arguing with eachother. This trip did not make my day. But I hear they have tasty cheese buns.

They made me a birthday cake and you can specialize the cake with quite a variety of icings, fillings, even cake flavor. Was beautiful and very tasty. Anyway it is certainly one of the best bakeries!!!

I have to say the staff is extremely rude the cupcake cake looks like it was done by some grade 6 students, the icing tasted only like butter, The chocolate cake tasted like it was bought from the dollar store and they just added water it was very dry and flavourless.. very disappointed and I paid $30 ????????????????????????. 1/2 ⭐️

A friend of mine who was exempt from wearing a mask shared a story today about how the staff here bullied, ostracized, discriminated against and violated hers and her daughters human rights. They were completely embarrassed and her daughter cried. The lack of common sense and humanity from the leadership/owners of this business to either give this type of direction to their staff or not be close enough to stop it, says this is not a business I will ever support. Everyone I know will know this as well. -EDIT- The Owners have since added a response. And instead of addressing the actual issue at hand, they are blaming 'protocol', something as a business, they have the right to choose. This means they are CHOOSING discrimination over compassion.

I normally really like this bakery. I'm not a regular but will on occasion make a special trip from Sundance for their goods. However today I was really turned off by them. The service was horrible. The bakery was empty just me and one other customer. It was an hour before they closed and there was 6 employees on. 1 was helping the other customer, one was on her phone texting, one was mopping, 2 were in the back and one was packing cookies. I stood at the counter waiting to pay for over 5mins. Finally the girl mopping asked if I had been helped. I said no and that I just needed to pay. She seemed so put off and like I was interrupting her. She was very unpleasant. To be honest I won't be back there are other places with amazing cheese buns in this city.

The baked goods are delicious but the past 3 times I've went my order hasnt been filled properly. 1. I asked for 12 glazed donut holes and received 6. 2. I asked for 6 glazed holes and 6 sprinkle and received chocolate instead of sprinkle 3. Today I asked for 2 sprinkle and the rest glazed and got 6 glazed, 5 chocolate and 0 sprinkle. They were also squished into the small box and not put in the appropriate sized box. This is really frustrating as I don't have time to Go back and exchange my order and feel I shouldn't have to look inside the box everytime to double check.

I just love this place! Sure, it may not be the trendy boutique bakeshop that's become popular over the years, but it's a refreshing flashback to the honest-to-goodness family bakeries of yesterday. I've tried a wide variety of their goodies so far, from their famous cheese buns to their seasonal cupcakes and have been super impressed with everything. Their jelly-filled donuts are also a personal favorite. And the prices... Amazing! They've got a lifetime customer and fan in me!

Excellent hand crafted breads, buns, pastries, cookies, cakes, tarts, etc. Helpful and attentive staff are available to provide excellent service. I know my review sounds like a brochure, but it's true! This bakery is a Calgary landmark and has been the same top notch quality for as long as I've lived in Calgary (over 20 years). They make cakes from scratch from small ones that would work for 2-3 people, to full slab cakes that work for large gatherings. I have never had any regrets offering Glamorgan wares to my family and friends...my only regret is a lack of leftovers!

I purchased a cupcake cake in the shape of a large floral bouquet for my mom's 80th birthday. The results were amazing! Not only was the cake stunningly beautiful but each individual cupcake had it's own unique color and icing design. Cupcakes were tasty with the icing being the perfect sweetness... not too sweet but just enough. There was not one left at the end of the day! I was reminded again why I always go to Glamorgan for my specialty event cakes. Nicely done Glamorgan! Keep up the great work.

Made a cake order at the bakery for my daughter's birthday. Paid in full and extra for her picture to be on d cake. Sent them the picture via email and called to confirm the receipt of the picture and it was confirmed by one of the staff. On the pick up day, hubby was told picture was not sent, so cake not ready. Staff spoke rudely to my hubby and wouldnt even speak to me while on the phone. Staff tried to return the money paid in a rude manner but hubby didnt take it as he felt really disrespected with the way the staff spoke to him and handled the situation.I am so dissapointed. Always have to drive for 45mins to order cake at glamorgan bakery due to previous reviews i read. But with this experience, I better think twice.
