I am gluten free and not by choice. It's difficult finding a bakery that makes a good loaf of G.F. bread without compromising on flavour.
Earth's Oven is just that bakery. It is small and difficult to find, but worth the explore. My partner sighted the sign quite by chance and we pulled into the small plaza.
We walked into the bakery just as the owner's wife was wrapping freshly baked bread, still warm from the oven. It smelled divine. I was offered a piece to try and fell in love. It is a hearty loaf made with buckwheat and chickpea flour, and very flavorful. MOIST! It did not crumble in my mouth, but gave me something to wrap my tongue around. I was also offered a piece of warm G.F. Focaccia bread with Italian herbs, to try. It too was very tasty. My partner is Italian and he loved it.
I met the baker and we chatted about his breads and how he chooses to use quality products in his baking and make his product with substance. He experiments with various types of flours for gluten free muffins, cookies, breads, cakes and squares. His products are good and he wants to have satisfied clients. Not only is his baking gluten free, it is also dairy, yeast and egg free.
His loaves of bread are a good substantial size and in my opinion good value for your money. They are tasty, and one slice will fill you. I can't wait to try the sweet desserts! Apple pie, Nanaimo bars, CARROT cake, to name a few. He will even make up a party tray of these delights. HEAVEN!
If you find yourself in need of a good bakery, Earth's Oven is the perfect choice for you. I will definitely be heading back, very soon.
