well I can not comment over the overall quality of Crave, cause Yesterday was my first time there. but I really think I should recount what happened to us yesterday and the disappointment we felt. There was a Harry Potter event going on and they were going to make the street the Diagon Ally from Harry Potter franchise. They had advertised for this event from nearly two months ago!!!! When we arrived there, the first place I wanted to visit was Crave which claimed to be the Common rooms from Harry Potter Series. This made me super excited and we stayed in the line for a VERY LONG TIME (I guess like, an hour or so) to see the "common rooms" and get some Harry Potter themed cupcakes. The wait was verrry long and tiring and finally when we arrived , we saw that there was NOTHING!!! no, really, nothing! They had put some Ambridge notifications on the shop entrance, but they had done nothing to make it look like the common rooms. (I mean, absolutely nothing) But that aside, the problem is, they didn't even have Harry Potter themed stuff!!!! They had normal cupcakes and if the topping was green (simple plain green, not like drawings on it or something) they would sell it as Slytherin if it was Orange , as Gryffindor (Gryffindor is not even Orange) and if yellow Hufflepuff, etc. They were supposed to have golden snitch cupcakes but they said we don't have the wings anymore, so it was basically a cupcake with yellow frosting. So they made ten times the profit that day by basically... lying? It was not only disappointing, but also made us feel they think people are stupid. I mean they had not even tried!! :O It was like a scheme, like.. lying. We waited or nearly an hour in their line an then we saw and got ...nothing!

Once you’ve tasted a home-made cake or pie from the aptly-named ‘Crave’ you won’t be able to resist the temptation to go back for more. Crave’s individual blueberry and lemon meringue pies and delicious cupcakes have been eagerly consumed in our household, courtesy of my partner who can’t help dropping into this delightful bakery on his way home from work almost every evening. Using fresh ingredients produced locally where possible, the bakers in Crave's six outlets across Alberta make cookies, cakes and other sweet indulgences from scratch every day. You can see them working in the kitchen at the back of the shop. Any cakes left at the end of the day are packaged up and sent to local charitable organisations. Crave’s cupcakes are available in regular and mini sizes. There are thirteen varieties on the ‘menu’ including their signature Crave-o-Licious cupcake made of chocolate sponge topped with blue vanilla buttercream icing sprinkled with shaved chocolate. We enjoyed the Dirty Blonde vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream icing and the Lemon-Lime Twist cake. Other delights include the Peppy Pattie chocolate cake swirled with white peppermint icing and red sparkles, and the Dark Angel chocolate cake with cream cheese icing and shaved chocolate. Gluten-free cakes are available. You can also buy seasonal cupcakes such as Thanksgiving Pumpkin Pie and speciality, themed cupcakes, which you can order in advance. For parties, Crave’s six-, eight- and ten-inch cakes can be made to order, using any one of their thirteen cupcake recipes with a personalised message on the top. Crave’s daily selection of cookies include Nutty Oat Sandwich, Red Velvet Sparkle, Ginger Creams and Oatmeal Toffee varieties. All cookies can be pre-ordered with a minimum order of six cookies per variety or purchased individually in the shop. Their pies are also wonderful and include apple, blueberry, raspberry sour cream, peach and strawberry rhubarb, available full-size or individually. Other sweet treats at the Kensington, Calgary branch, which is our local, include banana loaf, scones, brownies and peanut butter marshmallow squares – yum! The Kensington branch of Crave is located on the south side of Kensington Road NW in the first block along from 10th Street bridge.

The cupcakes here are unreal. They have an Instagram page that is updated frequently and showcases the flavour(s) of the month. I have noticed they are doing decorating classes and other things now. Please give this place a go if you are in Kensington (or near their other locations) and you are in the mood for a treat. The phone in ordering is also friendly and very easy to do. Good job!

Totally bummed about the quality of the cup cakes... We have been buying these cup cakes for the last 4 years once a year. We travel from BC and have always made a point to stop there. And this year the cup cakes have a much lighter and cheaper texture as opposed to the dense flavorful texture of the past years. The size has also changed smaller. I'm a chef with a strong pastry background, this is extremely dissapointing. Keeping the cup cake standards should be the main focus of any company who's has cup cake in their name. The cup cakes we got this year are now very average and pretty much like any other cup cakes out there. The price is no longer worth that quality. Extremely dissapointing.

I noticed in the last 5 years or so there was this "Cupcake boom!" and everywhere peeps that craved sweets just wanted their ooey gooey fav flavor of their choice. This pastry shop has what you crave and more. I usually wait until Fridays for my cheat days, but it is midterm November and I could not wait any longer! lol. I love these cup cakes, its the perfect size for a spoon to scoop and get just enough with the icing on top. The only downside here is the parking. It can be crazy during the peak hours, but if you know how good these treats are, then it is well worth the wait. Have fun with your fav flavors! Nom Nom Nom

Cupcakes tasted alright, but the packaging was horrible. They dont sit in the container very well, and all my cupcakes ended up being smushed, even though I was careful with them. The bags they give you dont even hold the container properly: It always flip sideways! They also gave us the wrong cupcake despite saying vanilla, but that happens, more concerned about the packaging. Don't know if ill be heading back any time soon

My experience with Crave: the store had a homely feel and the staff was friendly. I bought half a dozen cupcakes and was really looking forward to trying them, but unfortunately they did not live up to the reviews... The chocolate cupcakes were moist but the buttercream for all was too grainy and sweet. Definitely thought it was overpriced and I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon.

I have always loved Crave! But I love them even more now, my step mom has recently been diagnosed with a soy allergy and gluten intolerance. Crave goes the extra mile buy having gluten free cup cakes available but also do not have any soy in them! It may seem small but finding gluten and soy free products is extremely hard, so not only do they win on tasty they win all round!

After buying our house this past winter, our realtor had sent my boyfriend and I each '1 Free Regular Cupcake' vouchers for Crave back in April and May. Today we went into the Crave store in Kensington to use our vouchures and we were told that they are no longer valid and they stopped accepting them in June. No where on the voucher did it state this. Pretty disappointing to learn this after receiving these vouchers as a gift. As a business we regularly use for parties/work events, I know I'll be buying treats elsewhere in the future.

Everything is beautiful. If you're looking for elegance when you set out your table, these are wonderful. And the cakes are super moist, they're lovely. The problem is the the icing really isn't that good. It tastes more like chemical sugar, rather than butter (or cream cheese). The fact that they look so pretty and cost a ridiculous amount, makes it seem like they're delicious, but honestly, make a real buttercream at home with the yummy cream/salt taste, and it's better. You can barely taste the difference in half their flavours

The cupcakes and the cake were DELICIOUS don’t get me wrong. Their delivery drivers could be better, and we had some trouble getting the right stand rented for the order we made. And then some of my wedding cupcakes had the wrong colour icing. But again, they were delicious. Would still buy again, and recommend. Just make sure you know EXACTLY what you are getting.

Very nice employees and yummy desserts...no complaints there! My only concern would be hygiene to some extent...every time I've been there, the employees are forced to touch part of our cupcakes with their bare hands. This would be fine if they had just been washed, but we've seen them making transactions with money and the machine immediately prior to touching our desserts. I understand constant handwashing would be would be cumbersome, so perhaps a different design for where the cupcakes are stored for easy handling, or plastic gloves could be solutions? One time wouldn't be a huge issue, but we've experienced this several times, so I believe this review is warranted. I'm still a happy customer...just slightly grossed out ;)

The worst part about Crave is that I basically can't resist grabbing a treat when I'm in the area. They have lots of different options but my tried and true is their red velvet cupcake. The cream cheese icing is to die for!! Some people say its a little pricey but I usually never buy more than 1 or 2 and its a pretty big cupcake for ~$4. The interior is aesthetically pleasing and theres some bench seating but for the most part people take them to go. Parking can be a challenge in the area but the train is close by :)

Second time having some cupcakes from Crave, so far it's been a good experience. I went around 530pm today, so near the end of the day, and I'm assuming the cupcakes that I receieved weren't a fresh batch as the edges of the cupcakes were a little harder than the rest of the cupcake. Overall the taste was good, icing was good and not too sweet ????! I'll have to order some more maybe during the day or when they come out fresh from the oven to see if they turn out better but overall everything was good. Staff were friendly, accommodating and efficient by the looks of things. Store was neat ????????

The amount of options in this bakery...is wow (in a good way). They also offer seasonal goods. Their cupcakes range from mini to large in multiple flavours, moist and well made with icing (which can be too sweet for some). $21 for a dozen mini or can pay for 6 large. Their cookies here are also really good and soft with unique flavour options too - selling for $3 each. Have tried their delivery service and it is also very good and well organized. This place is a good place to treat yourself or a loved one.

Lovely cupcakes and so special flavors. I would recommend it for people who are really interested into sweet desserts. The cupcakes looks fab and it has generous amounts of the cream. Certainly the big size is big and filling. I ordered 12 pieces for my family and it was such delicious treat. I would say it is a bit expensive but I think you get what you pay, it is a rich and special in the flavors so I guess it is worth it!

Recently attended the Rosette Cake decorating class at the Kensington location. What a wonderful experience! We had Sarah as our instructor. She was patient, articulate, and well organized. We all presented with different skill levels, which Sarah tailored to accordingly. Techniques were well explained. We chose our own cake flavour, and buttercream colour. And of course, the cake was delicious. Would certainly attend another course in the future!

It is a such disappointing experience for ordering the birthday cake from Crave. I always order cakes from Manual Latruwe for cakes, but the store is closed due to the oven is under repair. So I ordered birthday cake from Crave thinking my nephew loves the cup cake from Crave. However, the icing cover the cake are way too sweet and super thick. Ended up no one able to endure to eat any bite of this rediculous sweet & over pricing cake. I'll never and not recommend people to get the birthday cake from Crave.

Crave was quick to acknowledge the hiccup, fixed it and had the courtesy to follow-up, the day after the transaction was completed and the rental stand returned, to ensure I was satisfied. The Red Velvet cupcakes are to die for. I love the smaller ones, the icing to cake ratio is perfect. We got wedding cupcakes instead of a cake and they did a beautiful little cutting cake for us as well. Cupcakes > Cake at a wedding!

Great cupcakes! Go early so they don't sell out of flavor options. I recommend getting mini cupcake your first time to try a couple flavors out. I highly suggest the lemon flavor!

Received some mini cupcakes from Crave. They were put together in a special packaging specifically made for their mini cupcakes. The package fits and protects the mini cupcakes very well. We received an assortment of mini cupcake. Every one of their cupcakes tasted great! My little ones ended up eating most of them and kept devouring them. I guess you can say that my kids approve! Will definitely need to buy some in the future!

Crave Kensington totally went above and beyond for me this week! I was putting together my Mothers Day gift when I found the London Fog Cupcake on Craves Instagram feed. It worked SO perfect with my theme! It was 4:30 so I called ahead. I couldn't reach anyone so I sent an email to their order site and within 15 minutes I received a lovely note saying they would set 3 aside for me to pick up shortly before close. When I got there, the person on cash was so great and cheerful! My mom loved the gift and the whole experience was just perfect. THANK YOU

Better yet, pick up 6, eat 2 on the way home (pro tip - buff the frosting off of the lid so that it doesn't look like you've already had 2), she'll likely share the remaining 4. You appear to be a hero, while having eaten 66% of the cupcakes.

Crave has the best tasting cupcakes I've ever had! My favourite is the Nutty Over Chocolate cupcake. Be sure to arrive early or pre-order your baked goods because they sell out FAST and therefore close early. The Kensington location is my go to store because of it's location and friendly staff.

Pretty dissapdisapp in the lack of customer service. Ordered a cake and cookies a week before my son's birthday. We had some simple decorations we wanted added to the top of the cake. They said they could but we'd need to bring them back the day before pick up. A pain but we did just that only to have them not put them on. Then they had the audacity to ask if we wanted them back! There's lots of competition in the city. I'd go elsewhere and now so will everyone who came to the birthday party!
