I did not enjoy this place. They put way to much effort in to the artwork and not into the cake quality. The picture came out great but didn't come out tasting good which is the whole point of a cake and a celebration. Ill just simply stick to traditional style cakes from traditional places.. will save me/you tons of money and get the same results.

If I could give 10 stars I absolutely would. I have had a long relationship with this awesome crew and they have NEVER disappointed me. Their cakes and cupcakes not only taste fantastic but the creativity they put into them is outta this world. You won’t be paying $30 for a cake so get over it...cause with Cakeworks you definitely get what you pay for. Their cakes are always part of my party decor and people love and look forward to seeing what they have come up with this time. I also order balloons from them and they have a great selection.

This was the first time I have ordered from Cakeworks, and I'll definitely order again. The cake was for my husband's 50th birthday, and they nailed my design request, plus made it even better. We didn't want to cut the cake and ruin the design. I ordered the chocolate with chocolate mousse filling. It was moist, chocolatey, and very tasty without being too sweet. The staff I worked with were very pleasant, and great to communicate with. They obviously listened, as they didn't miss a thing.

I don't live in Calgary but my parents are. I want a cake for my mom on Mother's day and for my dad on his birthday. I found them online because of the great reviews and I'm glad I chose them! The cake is beautiful and they have such great customer service! They accommodated my request of an early delivery at the last min. Although they forgot 2 edible photos (prob because of my early delivery request) of my nieces on the cake,but they corrected their mistake right away. They offered to pick up the cake, fix it and deliver it again. They also credited some amount because of the mistake on their part. I'm a very satisfied customer. They made the cake perfect for my parents and they gave me great customer service! My mom cried with happiness because all of their grandkids photos are on the cake!

The customer service was amazing, and they are one of very few shops in Calgary that will accommodate orders on short notice. We got an amazing Pokemon cake for an 8 year old's birthday party. He loved it, and the cake itself was delicious. I am still dreaming of the lemon filling. Delicious buttercream frosting and no fondant in sight. They are amazing. We will definitely be ordering from them again.

The cake itself has had rave reviews from our staff as being some of the best tasting cake they've had, and the designs they create are just amazing! I normally don't go to Cakeworks because it's out of the way, but I gave them a try when my local bakery of choice was closed. I ordered a dozen cupcakes for pick up, and specified they have emerald green icing. They were ready for me the next business day without any issues. The green color was exactly how I described over the phone. First impressions were good—the cupcakes were comparable in size to other boutique cupcake shops, uniform in shape, and the icing was plentiful. The taste and texture was only average, however. I felt they compared to what you would get at Safeway. It makes sense now that I read they use a premade mix for their cakes. They were light and fluffly, but overall quite generic. To the reviewer who said that " If you're looking for cake from 'scratch' make it yourself", I couldn't disagree more. When you are ordering from a bakery with the word "cake" in their name, you damn well better get something made from scratch. There was lots of icing, like I mentioned, but it was incredibly sweet. The color matched how I described (emerald green), but they clearly used far too much food coloring. It ended up staining the hands, lips, and mouth of every guest who ate them. It was a small gathering, but I can only imagine the dread that a new bride would experience, for example, if her entire mouth was stained dark green after eating a cupcake at her wedding. Everybody felt like a little toddler afterwards. There was so much food coloring added, that it began to separate from the icing after a few hours of sitting in the open. You could see little pinhead droplets starting to form. At no point did the bakery try to inform me that icing that dark would have such a negative impact, and it shouldn't be up to me, an uninformed customer, to decide if a color choice was too dark. The bakery simply followed my order without offering any advice. A severe lack of judgement on their part. We still have 4 cupcakes leftover from a party of about 15 guests, why? Because they weren't that good. You are far better off going to a boutique cupcake shop like Crave who don't make their cakes from a mix. Or just buy them from Safeway, it's the same thing.

I got my wedding cake here and it was beautiful and delicious (my ring bearer ate 7 pieces). The girls in the shop helped me order something that went with my overall theme quickly and easily. I was not the most "girly" bride, so having a pro help me out was great.

FIRST CLASS! GENIUS ARTISTS!! I have ordered over 20 cakes from Cakeworks and every single time they impress me. I am happy to sing their praises, because they over-deliver every time! Their cake decorators are magicians ~ and draw exactly what I describe over the phone. The staff taking the orders are patient and get every single detail right. Many times I have carried the cakes to the States (Safeway and Save-On sell the perfect, deep, basket sort of carrying bag) and the airport security staff, Customs officers, passengers and Air Canada FAs are in awe of my masterpiece cakes. The hardest part is actually cutting into them ~ so take lots of pictures for posterity. I am a grad student at Harvard, and every semester I throw a class party with the professor depicted on a cake ~ so far I've gotten straight As ~ just maybe the cakes help!! I like to give Cakeworks a full week's advance notice of my order but the few times I've called and begged, "Please may I have it tomorrow?" they've said 'Sure!" They even deliver to the Calgary airport, so I can swoop in, get the cake, and head straight back to Boston. Whatever your occasion ~ I had very humorous images of myself and husband on two wedding cakes ~ go straight to Cakeworks with your imaginative ideas, et voila! It's worth every penny they charge for the happy reactions you will receive. It was the Captain of the Edmonton Oilers in 2006 who told me of Cakeworks, and I am SO GLAD he did. Very few companies consistency deliver magic, but when it comes to service and product, Cakeworks gets an A+ from me. I personally love the quarter slab, lemon filled. YUM!

It says the wrong name and is the size of a paper towel roll .. these are only a few problems to name :( ... I called CAKEWORKS and they were able to make me a cake last minute, pick up tmr morning. I’m giving 5 stars for the experience and value. I’ve had this cake before and it never disappoints. I don’t know why I didn’t choose cakeworks first. Marble cake with Bavarian creme is always bomb and everyone loves it!

Picked up 6 cupcakes and small slab of cake expecting a delicious treat, however we (all 3 of us) were extremely disappointed at the quality and flavour. Icing is so sweet and flavorless (horrible) and the cake itself lacked texture and flavour (box quality or worse). We threw out 3 cupcakes and over 90% of the cake. Perhaps the items in the display are lower quality than when you pre-order? Reviews were very deceiving. I never post reviews but we were all so disappointed that I had to. Would never go here again. $50 in the trash.

I ordered a cake for my one year olds cake smash photo shoot from a private Baker, wrong move, it showed up a few hours before I needed it and it was beyond horrible! Cakeworks saved the day! One of the cakes that they keep on hand matched the colour theme perfectly, and was reasonably priced. They even added gold accents to the top of the cake. They were friendly, accommodating, and beyond helpful. They will definitely be my first stop next time I order a cake, hopefully next time I'll have more than a couple hours and I'll be able to see the full extent of their beautiful cakes. Thank you!

I found it difficult to order a cake from here. Called to order a cake and was told that we should submit an order online. When submitted order by email, got email back saying to call in the order instead… Then I called in, spoke to SAME person I spoke to the first time and she told me to call again in 10 minutes so she can re- read the online order??…. (not sure why she could not call me back instead) All in all, she was very obstructive and unfriendly. Was about to call in to cancel the order but spoke with someone else who seemed to get everything done within minutes. (I think her name was Alysse). The cake turned out just as we wanted and it tasted great!

Excellent icing, moist cake with lots of fluffiness! Last cake ordered was a gender reveal cake that was absolutely amazing. They'll make it how you want it and well priced.

Had a friend order a cake from here and it tasted so good! We just had to order for my son's bday party too. We're having a party to watch the Lego movie 2 so we went with the theme. It turned out great. It's also nut free to accommodate most of his friends. The screen printing is very good quality and the process was easy. They took the time to help us choose a pic. I didn't catch the name of the lady who helped us but she was super sweet and kind. Our party couldn't be complete without the cake! The delivery service was a saviour even in extreme cold weather conditions the nice gentleman made it. Thank you so much! My other son's bday is in a week and we'll be in again!
