The only problem with this place is that they aren't open 24 hours! Easily the best tarts I have ever eaten. I wish I lived closer because I would be in here daily. The owner is an incredible woman so you're also supporting someone who really does deserve it. I can't say enough about how amazing this place is, so you should really try it for yourself!!!

I can't comment on the food as I didn't end up buying anything. But the service was great! Fun to chat with and really kind. As customers were rolling in they knew many of them by name, so this tells me they are personable with regulars. Even with a steady flow of customers, I never felt pressured or ignored.

We love coming to Bolo! Lisa is awesome, and our family favorites are cinnamon rolls, cinnamon bread ( so good for French toast), and the cheese wheels. Oh, the cheese wheels! We also had a custom cake made for a birthday, and it was a huge hit. 100 percent recommend Bolo!

I am a resident of New Jersey USA, and I was thinking on how to send a birthday cake to my brother who resides in SW Calgary. And so I googled "TOP TEN BEST BAKERIES IN CALGARY'! And BOLO CAKERY was on the top of the list with many 5-star reviews from satisfied customers! I decided to email Bolo and the owner Lisa, was very gracious and prompt in responding to my inquiries. I was very pleased with her quick reply! To make a long story short, I completed the "cake" transaction with Lisa in the first week of November 2021. Tomorrow, November 9, is my dear brother's milestone birthday party and Bolo Cakery is making him a special cake! Everyone in my family in Calgary are looking forward to that wonderful and magical cake, as promised by Lisa! A special shout-out to Lisa: Please continue to do what you are doing: making people happy , both locals as well as people like me who lives in the other side of the globe! Continue to bake those yummy treats and custom cakes! Thanks for taking my call, Lisa, and for being kind and gracious. Such good cake! Purchased a single layer chocolate cake with dairy free icing and everyone loved it. Service was also excellent. I was slightly concerned it might be small but quality was so good and it was perfect amount.

Finally was in the neighbourhood to check out Bolo after following them for months on Instagram. I can't stop thinking about the Inny burger. My family got the breakfast bun and BLT and none of us wanted to share, it was too good. I bought the cinnamon brioche loaf for a special breakfast treat this weekend and my niece and nephew, aged 4 and 7, declared it was the best toast they've ever had!

Amazing cake. It is very unique in its flavour and texture unlike most generic cake. The cake is dense and isn't too sweet yet flavourful. The icing is a perfect consistency/viscosity without a sweetness that isn't too overbearing to the cake ratio. Ordered the London fog cake and in the center was ozing some delicious Earl Grey salted caramel which was also just enough to balance out each layer. The cake was beautifully made and worth a try (or two, or three...).

We found this place by accident, when it had just newly opened, and we had been visiting the nearby Euphoria Cafe. We met the owner, who is so lovely and she gave us a sample to try of her cake… And we knew at our next celebration we would need one of these cakes. So we ordered a special cake for a special birthday, got the best chocolate cake with lovely ganache and the yummiest buttercream icing! Beautiful presentation, and such a yummy dessert. It’s nice to see a local bakery, that serves small batch baking, that tastes so good! They also have probably the best cheese buns in Calgary! Lovely place!

Was super excited to check out this bakery especially because I lived so close to it! I love donuts and couldn't wait to get my hands on their cronuts. The raspberry ones didn't disappoint! They also have vanilla but the raspberry gave some nice flavour. I also bought their mini London Fog cake. Found it a little dense but still moist. I was a little underwhelmed by it but would definitely come back to try their other flavours and menu items!

So many fantastic & yummy treats! I picked up some cinnamon buns & cronuts to share at work and got so much positive feedback i had to stop in the next day to buy more! Let's say an addict walks into this bakery. Orders a cheese bun, and consumes said cheese bun. The next day he would be stealing radios to buy more cheese buns, completely forgetting about his prior addiction. That's how good they are. They are 100% worth the trip across the city. We decided to check this cakery out thinking that it was an Asian bakery because of the famous Hong Kong bolo buns. My oh my - we were delightfully surprised by the selections of bread and pastries there. :) A must-try will be their brioche cinnamon bread and brioche cheese bread - they are simply out of this world! Too bad we had gobbled them up before we could post a picture of them here. ;) Looks like it's time for us to visit them again!

I felt the customer service could have been better - I was charged $5 for writing happy birthday on a cake, and wasn't informed of this cost until after I paid. That seems too high for writing a message on a pre made cake. The cake was also not as good as I thought! I was a bit dissapointed. It was decorated really nicely on the outside but you could taste the butter in the buttercream and the cake itself wasn't as soft and moist as I expected. The pecan tart was delish though and the cheese bun was pretty tasty too although was a little sweet tasting for me. Bakery itself is really cute and looks like a lot of other yummy baked goods are available.

I really wish I took a picture of this amazing cake before we cut into it. It was beautiful. It was soft and spongy and rich and delicious, and my relatives had no idea it was gluten and dairy free! I’m gluten sensitive so I haven’t had a real cake in many years. Today I had a REAL CAKE!! My only disappointment was that the cookies on display were not gluten free. I was impressed by Lisa, the owner. She runs an amazing small business and clearly loves what she does.

Did I go to the same bakery as everyone else who's reviewed? My experience was terrible. The lady was super abrupt and rude about there only being 1 person allowed in the store which is understandable cause the bakery is super tiny..there is also a sign on the door that I completely missed cause it's also super tiny. Anyhow greeting people and being kind rather than yelling at them to get out is a lot better costumer service. When I was allowed into the store the woman rushed me out as quick as she could. We tried to support local but it backfired-I get better service at a big box store. I didnt find there was a ton of selection either for a Saturday morning. We wont be recommending or returning again unfortunately.

The actual cake is on another level though, It was the most moist and delicious cake I have ever had. Lisa who owns, runs and serves customers is an incredible part or the experience of Bolo as well. Holy fork, this place is incredible. Hands-down the best cake I've ever had! The London fog was flavorful without being overwhelmingly sweet. It tastes like it was baked by fairies and angels and kissed by unicorns. The pecan tarts and cronuts are phenomenal as well. I will not be buying baked goods from anywhere else anymore, nothing compares!

What a great spot! We bought the legendary Cheese Wheel, cinnamon buns and the chocolate chip cookies. Talk about decadence - the cheese wheel was savoury and glorious. The cookies were so good, I could've shed a tear when it was over. I was eternally jealous of my own self five minutes prior. Lisa is a gem for making such wonderful food. I happened upon Bolo Cakery while I was in the plaza for the first time, and I am so happy I did! When I first met Lisa last year, she had a huge smile on her face when she walked in from the kitchen and brought her incredible energy with her. Once you've tasted any of her amazing baked goods, you'll know immediately that her passion, energy and love goes into making each tasty treat, and it's well worth the drive to get a cake, cinnamon buns, cookies, or whatever your favourite treats are that she makes. Her cakes are deliciously flavourful, moist and not too sweet, which is perfect for my taste. I have a new favourite cake that she only makes on certain days of the week...! Believe her when she says the cakes taste best after a couple of hours at room temperature (not that I've always waited that long and they are still yummy). The cakes are also surprisingly still as delicious after two days (if they lady that long), which continues to be a mystery to me. Her cookies are big, chewy and so tasty. I must also mention that her cinnamon buns are the best in the city (not just my opinion) - more buttery than sweet (you'll definitely want more than one)! And the cheese wheels? So worth it! I highly recommend Bolo Cakery!!!

The bakery is cute and has good potential. Unfortunately I found the cake to be dry. Even though I left it on the my counter and ate it that day. I felt maybe the cake had been a few days old. The buttercream tasted like butter and definitely needed more sugar added.

This used to be my favourite spot north of the TransCanada to grab lunch or a snack, but sometime this winter, the owner made the odd decision to gut their menu. Twice now, I've gone their looking to order something (first cronuts, then a sandwich) and was more or less turned away because they had stopped making them. It seems strange to me that when so many local restaurants are struggling, that you'd effectively turn away customers that want to support your business by dropping popular items from your menu. If they survive the pandemic, hopefully this decision gets revisited. Their cronuts and sandwich's were excellent, I'm just a little disappointed that when so many businesses have gone above and beyond, that they seem to have done the opposite.

What a fantastic little gem of a place I found in the NW, tucked in a little corner of a a strip mall you will find BOLO Cakery and for a small shop you will find BIG flavours! On top of the great food you get a great conversation with the owner! You can tell right away all of the treats are made with the best ingredient of all....LOVE! Went in with my mom today and bought a cheese wheel... I’m pretty sure they are made for at least 6 people but the whole thing was gone within a couple hours between the two of us. BEST CHEESE BREAD EVER! (Seriously, THE most amazing cheese bread) I would recommend to anyone. And will definitely be going back to try more. Great first experience.

So recently I was looking for a birthday cake with caramel and chocolate in it (favs of a friend) and lo and behold, saw Bolo Cakery near the top of my list. The website listed a salted caramel and chocolate cake as a popular item...perfect for what I was looking for! We popped in around at around 1:30 pm and was very nervous to see that there were only a few cakes left in the coolers. The owner, Lisa, came out from the back and instantly put me and my partner right at ease, and ended up having a great little chat. She was super friendly and you could tell this was where she was meant to be. I also knew she if she put her personality into her craft, the cake I was looking for would be fabulous ???? Luckily there was a few Bolo "babies" on hand (4" round but at least 6" tall) so we chose one and spirited it away as fast as we could. It looked so good my partner (who is lactose intolerant) had to have a great Americano expresso because he was too sad that he wouldn't be able to get any ????. With a few wise parting words from Lisa about not putting it in the fridge as we were having it that evening (to let the caramel inside to be ooey and gooey for the cake to be super moist), we surprised the birthday boy and dug right in. It was hands down the best I'd ever had (did I mention caramel is one of my favorites too??). Oh and one of Lisa's comments was that the cake should be at the right temp so that you could spread the buttercream frosting on toast. It was so delicious (not too sweet, utterly sinful), I may have to take her up on that suggestion the next time. My birthday is coming up in a few months. Guess what I will be asking for? Try Bolo...you won't regret it!!
