We needed dairy free cupcakes for the next day and called these guys hopeful, but doubting we'd be able to order specialty for the next day. Not only were they able to accommodate, but they were some of the best cupcakes I've ever had. Our team was raving about how delicious they were. You could never tell that they were dairy free. The chocolate was good, but the raspberry icing was outstanding. You could taste the real puree in it.

Tried a box of their mini-pastries to check out their range and we were very disappointed. The pastry was flabby rather than crisp, and the creme patisserie in the eclairs and so on had a very strange taste - I thought it was banana but my friend reckoned it was artificial vanilla. This would not be on my list of patisseries to visit again any time soon.

I've order many cakes over the years through Amandine, for work and events. I was disappointed in the cake it was old and dry and the filling for the Bavarian cream cake was non existent. I'm planning on an other event I may have re-choose the bakery, especially I drove a crossed the city for example to let the family try. Very disappointed. I won't even go into the customer service.

It wasn’t the Bavarian cake I had once loved, but it tasted like any other cream filled cake from a grocery store. I’m not as adventurous with cake options especially when there’s a 40 person crowd to fill (who all have different tastes) and ESPECIALLY if it’s my own birthday party! However when I called and asked for their most popular cake, they recommended the Bavarian Fruit Cake. Now I love any cake with fruits (not fruitcake mind you!!) but not everyone does. So for parties I have always opted for a nice chocolate cake where people usually eat a slice and take home the rest. However, I had a good feeling about this cake so I ordered 12x16 for 40 people. Once it arrived, the size was enormous for what they had described for 30-35 people. Basically I could have ordered a smaller size and fed the same amount of people. Also ...THE CAKE WAS TO DIE FOR! All my chocolate lovers were on their 3rd slice of the cake raving about how good it was and how the fruits were very fresh. I’m happy that the crowd loved it because I loved it as well! It’s a family run business but I know it could definitely give all the chains a good run for their money in terms of quality and quantity :)

Fantastic cake at a great price! I bought a cake for my wife’s birthday two days ago and we couldn’t be happier. I was looking for something light and not too sweet and the person at the bakery helped me choose the right one. They even signed the cake for me even though I did not order it in advance. Overall it took me just 5 minutes to get this freshly baked and delicious cake. The price was lower than I’ve seen at other bakeries and even at regular supermarkets that typically sell greasy and overly sweet cakes. I will definitely go back to Amandine for any future occasion. It is well worth the drive to go there if you need a good cake to impress your loved ones. I am pretty sure their desserts are good too, can’t wait to try.

Excellent pastries and fantastic customer service, courteous and very friendly. Best almond croissants I have ever tasted in Calgary, well baked, crunchy, almond paste inside and toasted almonds on top. Cinnamon rolls were to die for, obviously going back for at least dozen next time. My partner got a meat pie, it was given properly in a paper bag, she absolutely loved it. We got an almond galette as well, lovely. So much food to try at our next visit. Support this local great bakery!

They are nice people but I read in the comments " best strawberry shortcake in calgary" so I paid $30 for a 8 inches one and it was a vanilla cake, with whip cream and 6 strawberries on top. No jelly or strawberries in between, nothing. Only a few strawberries on top and its called a "strawberry shortcake" . The look was not awesome either. 1This makes me understand that I can make basic cakes and sell them and people will say its the best in town. I should've bought a boxed cake that would've cost me $15 to make in total probably even less than that. I thought I would get an awesome cake since was being made in a professional bakery but I was wrong and it was expensive too. The only reason I didn't make it myself is because I work 6 days and don't have time. I gave 3 stars just because the staff is nice.

I do love this bakery for some fresh goods available within my neighbourhood. I would love to see online options in the future - even if it's just an email to be able to order through. I had ordered a cake for a birthday but needed to push the order back by a week. When I called to delay the pick-up a week, they didn't have my name correct nor did they record my phone number accurately so it was difficult to track down. When I went to pick up the cake a week later, the date was then incorrectly recorded this time and it was not ready. I had to take a cake that I didn't really want and was told that I was a day early, which I was not. Ordering over the phone is tricky. I would like to be able to support a local bakery but I don't have great confidence that the order will be placed properly now.

A local favorite for it's excellent quality baking and friendly, helpful service. Amandine offers a variety of cakes and pastries and desserts like chocolate covered strawberries. They can service special occasions such as birthdays and weddings. Savory items are on the menu as well. For example, Jamaican patties. Cinnamon buns, peach squares, cheese cakes - you name it they got it. Lots of gluten free options exist. The list of options for various dietary restrictions is extensive. The premises themselves may not be too exciting but the products that are on offer more than make up for that!

Best apple strudel in Calgary. These guys do all sorts of custom cakes and have been in business for over 35 years. They probably have the largest selection of cake toppers I’ve ever seen for a bakery. And large variety of pastries from European desserts to gluten free cakes. It’s one of the few bakeries in town that can do both gluten free and dairy free cakes.

A lot of people might have complains in their customer service, but I must say the quality of the cakes are just AWESOME. I had my son's first b'day party where I had about 100 guests...it was a big party and I ordered a giant cake along with a small one (for Kids). I ordered two flavors- Fruit Short Cake and Black Forest. Every single guests just loved their cake and asked the store name. The owner of this bakery store bakes all the cakes by himself and I heard he won awards from City of Calgary. I will highly recommend this bakery store for your special occasion cake.

Terrific place for all sorts of sweets. I got a large cake for my parents anniversary and it not only looked great, but tasted even better. Hidden little gem, not spoken or even heard of if your not looking. I highly recommend visiting this location if possible. Delicious cakes. Mango mousse is my favourite. Better than a wish moment. But make sure you have a second option. Because they sometimes mess up your pick up orders. And by that i mean, if you order it for tomorrow. They might put it for day after tomorrow and you will mess up your day. At the end you will be left with the cakes you don’t even like.

I had tried their breads and kuchen-type cakes before, and was quite pleased. This time, I was looking for a cake for my daughter's birthday, but I didn't feel like paying the exorbitant prices that my two favourite French patisseries charge (we all know who they are). These cater to the moneyed, hip and trendy crowd, and as a French national myself who tries to encourage fellow French businesses, I must admit that I feel gouged when I go there for an eclair or macaron. So I decided to give Amandine a try. Knowing their pastry chef is Japanese which is in itself a good sign knowing the Japanese' passion for quality and perfection, I picked up a nice hazelnut praline cake after the young and pleasant man behind the counter assured me it was made from fresh ingredients and did not contain the conspicuous icing sugar found in commercially-produced cakes. I was not disappointed. Not only the cake was delicious and light, it was priced much lower than the other pastry shops in Calgary. When you factor quality and price, Amandine is way superior to the other high-end and overpriced French patisseries in Calgary. If you don't live in the area, it is still worth going out of your way to pick up a nice cake.

Ordered a black forest cake from Amandine. It was quite good but they suffer from the same thing so bakeries do with their black forest cake... Lack of kirsch. There should be an option. Rectified by buying some kirsch and sprinkling it over top.

When I got there customer service was awful they didn't say hello when I came in , second when I order a slice of chocolate cake it wasnt fresh it tasted old so when I told the lady that I didn't like the taste of it she said that i would probably wouldnt like the other cakes because they would taste the same. All the cakes in the display looked old and dry. It looks very dirty too. Really bad experience I don't know why it is rated one of the best bakeries in Calgary this is SO WRONG! DON'T GO THERE!

This bakery has a selection of treats available and has more to offer by order. We really enjoyed the apple strudel, mini fruit tarts and sausage rolls. We ordered a carrot cake and they were accommodating when we had to change the order date. The cake was delicious!

Delicious cakes. Mango mousse is my favourite. Better than a wish moment. But make sure you have a second option. Because they sometimes mess up your pick up orders. And by that i mean, if you order it for tomorrow. They might put it for day after tomorrow and you will mess up your day. At the end you will be left with the cakes you don’t even like.

After reading reviews on google I made the decision to order a cake for my wife's birthday from Amandine Bakery. I called in advance and was told I can order a cake day of the event as long as I called early enough. That morning I ordered a mixed fruit milli-feuille cake and told them I would pick it up 1 hour prior to them closing. When I got there the cake was ready and service was great with the few questions I had about other cake types. I quickly took the cake home and we started to eat it right away. Although the filling and fruit were reasonably fresh the pastry was by far sub par. It was extremely soggy and by far the worst Mille-feuille cake I ever had and the pastry part was hardly edible. I am not sure if the pastry was just old or if it was incorrectly made but it was not up to the quality that I expected. I know that the cake type is a hard one to pull off correctly but with so many other choices in Calgary I might opt to try another bakery next time....

Just bought a carrot cake at Amandine today. It was dry. A carrot cake should be moist. The icing wasn't very good either - kind of hard not sure if entirely cream cheese or not. Disappointed. I went to a bakery instead of coop expecting better quality.

Not recommended for anyone with allergies. I ordered dairy free cupcakes for my boyfriend with a dairy allergy. After he ate them and got sick I called the bakery and spoke directly with the baker. He told me they use regular chocolate, and I had to explain to him that chocolate contains dairy unless it specifically says it is made without, and that it was very dangerous and irresponsible to be claiming to cater to allergies without the appropriate knowledge of your ingredients. The fact that I had to inform him of this when they advertise that they offer dairy free products was shocking to me. He did apologize and say they would review the ingredients they use, but I would not feel comfortable ordering from them again.

Baking was good, but the service leaves something to be desired. The woman working the sandwich counter just doesn't seem to care. But to be fair, she's been like that for years. We moved out of the area and were craving the delicious clubhouse, so popped by a few weeks ago. Her general attitude was that it didn't seem to make a difference to her whether or not I went away happy, or just went away.

Best cake I have ever had in North America! An unprecedented quality of cake and the fresh cream makes the higher cost very well worth it. We had a community event and for the first time, in a large scale event, not one bite was left on the plates. People "inhaled" every single crumb. No waste and no wasted money, so great. The message on top of it was done nicely. But it tasted awful, probably the worst fudge cake i ever had. Since, good customer service and nice cake decoration doesn't compensate for bad taste, I dont recommend this place.

Amandine is a favourite among co-workers on my floor at the office...whenever there's a birthday, it's always an Amandine birthday cake. My coworkers call it the "Best bakery in the city" but I'd have to respectfully disagree. This is a decent, local neighbourhood bakery. There is nothing that will blow your socks off, but if you want a crowd pleasing birthday cake, I can see why this is a safe choice. The cakes are nothing special, but most people would at least somewhat enjoy it no matter what you pick. I do love some of their cookies, but found the pumpkin loaf and banana bread to be really dry and bland...in fact, the two tasted nearly identical. I have to say, my own banana bread is way better than theirs. Their cakes, as I mentioned, are OK - personally would not be my choice to have my birthday cake ordered from here (most of them have too much whipped cream as frosting and I do not enjoy whipped cream as frosting) Still give 3/5 stars since the goods are still better than your typical grocery chain bakery, and there's a reason this bakery has been around for a long time.
