I like their bakery so much, pastries and cakes are very soft and delicious. However, cakes are more expensive compared to bigger retailers' prices. Good that they have a loyalty system. At the end of the day, their shelves are almost empty, so if you want to buy what you need it's better to come there before 6 or even 5pm.

Used to like their cakes but I was totally disappointed from my recent experience. I ordered a 8” birthday fruit cake online for my son’s birthday. It turned out to be the worst cake I had so far. The sponge part of cake is very powdery and crumbly. The texture is just so wrong that is very different from the cakes that we used to have from the store. I guess the cake was made and put into freezer for too long. Apparently it’s quality of cake is not stable. I ended up throwing the cake away. I tried to send them an email but never got reply from their customer service. I won’t purchase again there for sure.

A reputable bakery with inconsistent promotion and questionable practice. We have been a repeat customer for cakes and pastry as St. Germain bakery is simply the tastiest in the neighborhood. Today we tried to order a birthday cake online, taking advantage of the Air Canada voucher offers. Somehow the website did not allow us to order any cake for the following day. Emails to the website support yielded no response. So we took the time to head into the store to order the cake, foregoing the much advertised promotion. We were advised to purchase $30+dollars on the order to qualify for the VIP card, so we did. After the order was paid for, we got a call from the bakery about 20 mins later. The staff conveyed that the cake we had order was out of stock and we would have to switch to a bigger size which has been on display at our cost. This confused us. The whole point of us ordering a day earlier was so St. Germain could make the cake on the day, and not use stale stock that's been on display for who knows how long. The request for us to move up a size at 10% discount seemed like a bait-n-switch when the order had been paid in full. We did not comply since we did not want the person picking up the cake to pay on the spot. I called in and politely asked for management to explain what exactly the reasoning was behind this unprofessional request, obviously violating our verbal and written agreement. All of the sudden, the staff queried if I could push the pick up 30 mins later and that everything will be alright. This confused me again. It would appear that they did not want to make the cake fresh for whatever reason and tried to peddle us the one that's been on display. While I believe the cake will still be yummy as always, this was extremely unprofessional and unbecoming of a celebrated bakery such as St. Germain.

I found their cakes "just ok". For European style cakes, like black forest, this bakery does a terrible job... jam is used instead of cherries, for example. The fresh fruit cakes, like the mango cake, are quite a bit better but I found not worth the extra price over some other stores nearby.

Always busy, servicing mostly a Chinese/Asian crowd. They have a wide range of products from small batch bread to decadent small pastries and elaborate cakes of varying sizes—customisable cakes also available. They will almost always sell out well before closing time; the only items available will be bread, some simple sponge cake and yellow cake all at reduced prices. I used to eat their pastries frequently and loved them, but due to my allergies I had to stop. If they offered egg-free (highly unlikely) options I love to patronise them again.

Ordered in person a 6" Fresh Mango cake. Delicious. Creme isn't too sweet and sponge layers are moist and delicate (aka ~ fresh). Good cake experience. Just in time as Mango season is at its tailend. Cake was also made to order and took 45 mins to prepare. The strawberries were a bit on the sour end. Service was satisfactory. There is one staff member who attitude shows she doesn't wish to be there.

IMO BEST egg tart! I use to get my egg tarts at random places, but my GF told me I had to try these one and it changed my life forever. It's not dense like other egg tarts, it's very light and flacky, but doesn't fall apart when you hold it. My second favorite item is their pineapple bun, which I highly recommend you toasting *yum*. Something I look to for my cheat days. The service can be a hit or miss, but I use Uber eat to by pass that haha.

The breads are too oily. The amount of grease the breads leave in the plastics bags they give you is cringeworthy. Plus you get it all over your hands and face. You can feel the oil while you chew. Also, I do not trust the sanitation of this store. It is like a candy shop where people help themselves by opening glass containers filled with hot bread. What if somebody decided to touch the bread with their bare hands? What if somebody decides to lick or touch the bread and put it back? Or if a bread dropped on the floor, would they just put it back onto the racks behind the glass? We will never know.

This is one of my favorite bakeshops in Burnaby. The pastries and bread are scrumptious especially the Portuguese egg tart and the pineapple bun. The only drawback for me are the prices of each items. They cost more than what I'm used to paying in Asia. But still, they are worth every dime if craving for Asian bread and pastries. This bakeshop is one of my stops when in Burnaby.

For the busy bakery chain, this location is quite popular. During social distancing, the staff maintains order, trying different methods: providing disposable gloves, enforcing one-way line-up towards the cashiers. For good quality Asian style bakery treats, they're a bit pricier than the other comparable bakeries on the other side of the mall, but are also better quality. End of day discounts usually draws a small crowd in front of the store (sometimes blocking walk traffic) towards a line-up.

Excellent service as always. This place is quickly becoming my favourite bakery. With items such as delicious seasonal fruit cakes and turnovers, which seem to be quite rarely made savoury, they have foods for any party. The turnovers are incredibly delicious and taste pretty similar to ones I ate abroad, with some twists like curry flavours (yummy). I strongly recommend you get their mango cakes while in season, they are the best for me. If that's not your cup of tea, they also have creamy and chocolate ones. When you order, either online or in store, you can ask for a massage to be written and they'll add it to a chocolate tablet that comes on top of the cake. They can also write Chinese characters if you need them. Not sure about their pricing compared to other bakeries, but it seems ok (not cheap, not overpriced) and there are many things uniquely done by them. If you are passing by Metropolis, I highly recommend to at least take a look as you smell the delicious aroma their creations have.

I've been by the bakery several times, however, because I have a mobility scooter when I go to the Malls and because of Covid, I've been unable to go in as they have line control measures in place. However, before Covid, I had been in several times and they had many items that I bought ... more than a few times. They are quite busy, not surprising as they are an above average bakery.

Pretty impressed for the @saintgermainbakerybc for their custard mooncake. Both Lava salted yolk custard & Salted egg yolk mooncake has nice presentation and available for order in boxes or single. I prefer the regular egg yolk one since it’s less sweet than the lava one. Worth trying if you don’t have a large appetite to endure the entire box! I also tried their egg tarts. Classic Cantonese bakery. Grab tongs and load a tray with bread. I recommend the egg tarts - I think they're under a dollar each. None of the baked goods is very sweet because it's tailored for Chinese tastes. Come after 4PM for bread on sale.

These ladies courteously made my cake to order despite me messing up my online cake order. Oops! They were kind, friendly, and didnt make me feel (too) stupid for my mistake. They customized the cake while I was there and it was quick to boot. The passionfruit cheesecake was delicious and loved by all. Slightly sweet, fluffy, with a perfect amount of fruit and decorations on top. It was beautiful! I dont like incredibly sweet, dense cheesecake and this was made exactly to my preference (dont get me wrong, I'd still eat it, cause duh, cheesecake). The cookie crumb on the bottom was also really yummy and added a good mouth feel to the cake. Bonus, they gave us a candle for the birthday girl. Aww. I saw many many tantalizing items that I want to try next time, so I will be back. P.S. I ordered my cake online and took advantage of a 12% discount! Cake was packaged well so it was easy to carry with fumbling hands full of shopping bags through a mall :)

It is one of the popular and tasty bakery in Metro Mall. I loved to go and visit this place every time I come to the mall. Considering this pandemic, all workers were wearing the masks and making sure that people are keeping the social distance. Th However, always the workers look busy and never treat the customers kindly and friendly. I have seen very rude and impolite workers pushing the senior customers around, asking sanitizing their hands. Of course, it is super important to be kept clean for all of us, but they could treat the seniors more politely and kindly, rather than yelling and talking back with them in front of all people. Please do not look down on the seniors, they are the first people that we should help in this situation. One senior gentleman was a bit upset as the workers checked him a couple of times whether to sanitize his hands or not. It is GOOD to check, and double check. BUT, you were not kind and there was no respect, rather than your tone and attitude were totally looking down on him. Cashiers? nothing to say. Why? because they always look angry. Now, I don't want to go to this place anymore, since there are more other good bakeries outside.

Bread and bakery products are really good. But, the customer service is very poor at this location. Cashiers some time add 10 to 50 cents more for most of the products compare to display price. When we question, their usual answer is - it’s added with tax in addition to GST tax or some other poor response - neither sorry nor straight answer. Most of us never make a big deal since it is related to 10-15 cents or we don’t care or sometime forgot about display price. So, please make sure you get the right product with correct price if you purchase from here. In my personal opinion whether few cents or few dollars it’s all business ethics and reliability. Today I lost trust as a customer at Saint Garmin bakery, Metro town mall, Burnaby BC.

The service was very BAD. I booked a Birthday CAKE a few days ago and planned to pick it up today. The cake was already put in a Box and closed. The girl who served us, asked us to pay directly. I requested to see the cake first before I paid(because it is a birthday cake, we wanted to make sure the cake is good before we paid for it ) . However the girl's attitude was [very Bad & impolite] and just said something like you see it yourself and walked away. I requested the staff to open the box for us to check but No One take action, even another staff came and asked us to pay.You know For a customer, service is very important ! Is it the way to serve or treat a customer ? Why the girl's attitude was so awful when I requested to check the cake? Should the customers have the right to check first before I pay for it ? Finally the staff ignored my request and we paid without seeing the cake. We're sure very angry for being a customer. Feel the service SO BAD !

Good bakery located in Metrotown mall. The buns, pies and cakes are all very tasty. There are many options. It's very busy outlet and always lots of people are buying there. So you can always get fresh products. At the end of the day they sell of a lot of the items for 20% off. Overall I like the items at the bakery. Especially the chicken turnover and the cakes.

I have been to the other Saint Germain Bakery at Aberdeen Centre in Richmond. As a comparison I find the cake at Richmond location to be a little better in terms of the cake texture. Overall the food quality is excellent. Plenty of parking here at it’s located in Metropolis (aka Metrotown). Business location is right beside Superstore so there’s a lot of foot traffic here. Always busy at this bakery. At time of pandemic all customers require to use hand sanitizer before touching the bakery’s tray. It’s understandable as we need to stay hygienic to avoid contracting viruses. The staff here needs to have more smile and be happy. I would have given another ⭐️ if the staff have smiles.

Opens at 10 but there is barely anything on the shelves to pick from. Staff only begin to put items on the shelves AT 10. This bakery should schedule their staff to come in earlier to bake AND stock shelves so customers that come in to wait early are not empty handed, waste of time.

I never used to understand why this place was so popular, as the buns are good but pretty normal. Until I got a cake here... Oh my goodness it's so delicious! Looks and tastes like really high quality cake. Mmmm. I got the matcha green tea one with red bean. Will definitely buy cake here again! I'd love to try their red velvet one next. There's also a ticket system for buying cake so I got served quickly (ahead of the lineup for buying buns). They can also write messages on a piece of chocolate!

I bought a really nice cake to surprise my mom on her day and the surprise was for me. The melon inside the cake tasted rooten, we couldn't ate it. If you buy here, you better think twice or buy it just to eat around there so you can make your complaint if necessary. I didn't check the reviews of this place before pre ordering, because it was highly recommended, but after being surprised I checked the reviews and looks that this kind of mistake happens often at this shop. Just be aware. By the way the cake looked nice on social media, not?

Typical Hong Kong style bakery shop. Personally I am a fan of Hong Kong cuisine, but not their pastry. Still if you are tired of same old bland superstore (which is located just next to it) bread, this place is a nice alternative.

STAY AWAY! Pre-ordered buns, waited over 30 minutes in line and then they "didn't have them." Avoid this place at all costs, what an epic waste of time. Untrustworthy liars! If they're going to lie about an order, what else are they lying about? Can you trust their ingredients? Are they cutting corners on safety?

I love the baked goods they have here! Their mocha cake is excellent and the buns they have here are great. It is slightly pricier than their Maxim's but it's still reasonable. I'd highly recommend trying out their cakes if you haven't already. They also sell mooncake during autumn festival and they taste great. It's really convenient as well as it's situated just next to superstore by the skytrain.

Make sure you check your receipt when making a purchase here. We bought some baked goods that were in the 20% section. The cashier first forgets about the discount. We go back to let them know and the ladies there try to push us off by giving us 2 buns - no apology or any sign of being sorry for their mistake. I reject their offer and the lady then gives me a 10% difference back. I ask again and they finally give me back the 20% discount. I understand the bakery is busy on Mother’s Day but this is not an excuse for such poor and unprofessional customer service.

Everything here is always amazing and on point. Service is fast and friendly. Even at peak times the lady's are able to get u in and out quickly. Never had any issues with items being unavailable. Their cakes are to die for. Personally on my kids birthdays they'd rather have a fresh fruit cake from here instead of a sugar and frosting filled cake for another store. They used to have a smaller location across the hall but this new location is more spacious, always clean and bright. Staff is great and super friendly
