Here you have the opinions of people like you who consumed the products and services of Sweet Thea Bakery (Bakery) in the territory of British Columbia (Canada).
At this moment this firm has a rating of 4 over 5 and this score has been based on 78 reviews.
You may have noticed that it reaches an reviews average is really positive, and it's founded on a very large number of feddbacks, so we can say that the assessment is quite credible. If many people have bothered to evaluate when they've done well with the service, it works.
You know that we don't usually bother to set reviews when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...

Awesome macaroons!!
I ordered an apple pie online and picked it up the next morning. The crust was perfect, it tasted wonderful. I would have given 5 stars, but the filling was more like a thick apple sauce than what I am used to in an apple pie. There were very few pieces of apple in the sliced or chunky form. It was still very tasty, but I think it should be noted in the description for sure. I think a lot of people would be surprised that it is not the usual apple pie. Perhaps it was just one batch or is this the usual? Next time I will call and ask for a description.
This is a hidden gem for croissants. One of the best I've had in the lower mainland.
They have amazing Stollen with marzipan and Lebkuchen here! The real deal.
Deliciously
Communication with Thea was terrible. She doesn't get back to you in a timely manner. Booked her to do my wedding cake and it was a mistake. The cake topper was just placed on top of the cake without being unscrewed from the holder. Furthermore, she was extremely rude when I called her after to get an explanation for what happened. She claimed it wasn't her job to unscrew the cake topper and she didn't have a screw driver. She was given the contact numbers for multiple people but didn't call anyone for help she just left the cake as is. There are plenty of cake makers out there that are far more deserving of your business. Do yourself a favour and use one of them instead.
I bought cookies from the Main Street pop up and my my were they delicious! Such a cute Christmas pop up.
Visited the pop-up shop on Main St during the Christmas season. I ordered the fruit cake and it was delicious. Moist, tons fruit. I would definitely order again.
These are probably the best pies in the city.
So it's a cute little shop! Their showcase was beautiful. We came for the macarons because my children haven't had any before, they've only had macaroons. There was buns, both savory and sweet ones, macarons, tarts, cakes. They're open Tuesdays-Saturdays. We will definitely be back! Thank you for having us!
I am not impressed by their plain butter croissant. They were too dry. I think more butter is needed in the dough.
Got overcharged and the girls in the front are not at all friendly, I have been buying there bread at farmers market from couple of years and it was always great but totally changed my impression when I went to the store not once but twice
Excellent everything! Purchased Tarts, Sour Cherry Pie & Croissants. Originally went for Artisan Bread, got so excited with all the goodies forgot the darn bread. The young lady that served was excellent.
Weddings are stressful enough. My wife contacted this bakery because they advertise for traditional and faux-wedding cakes. We needed a faux-cake because we have a dessert buffet, so its more of a photo op. After initial contact all communication stopped. We figured she maybe busy, so we gave her a few weeks, before I called to see whats up. The owner claimed she was too busy to check her email, but if we sent another email, she'd definitely follow up with us. The same exact thing happened, dead silence. The wedding day is getting closer and closer. Tension is rising, so I figured I'd take the day off, and we'd drive out to the shop, and see if some face to face communication would clear things up. We drove an hour out to her bakery. Thea came out of the back looking very annoyed. Instead of apologizing, and trying to make things right, she told us how busy she was and didn't have time to talk to us. Nothing but excuses. Thea told us to write down our email address on some scrap piece of paper, and she would get back to us Monday at the latest (this was Friday afternoon). Monday came and went, not even an email to say she's too busy for our business. The girl in the front of the bakery was quite nice. She was very apologetic. She comped us a some cookies, and said not for us to worry, they'd do the right thing. Nobody bothered to contact us again until the following Thursday. Thea has poor communication skills and is obviously totally disorganized, if not dis-interested. We ended up finding another bakery who luckily accepted us on short notice.
It would be great there is more chocolate in the chocolate croissant. and some smile on their face.
I decided to post this review after accidentally eating half a loaf of jalapeño and cheese bread while I was walking home. The service is always friendly and the food is always good. What else can you ask for?
Great ham'n cheese croissants!????
Ordered a small Red Velvet Cake for a birthday and it was delicious. We've now ordered at least 4 or 5 different cakes and each one was great and ready when we needed. This is our favourite place to order cakes for birthdays and other celebrations.
Perfect pumpkin pie, and the delicious hand pies are a must-have when strolling through the Farmers Market. Bought an apple/cranberry too, which is one beautiful hefty pie.. but haven't had a slice since it's for dinner tomorrow, so I can only rate on weight and good looks for now.
The food was great! However, "the inability to self reflect shown in their responses is evident." Despite having delicious food, and "an overwhelming amount of positive reviews", you are lacking SEVERELY in the customer service deparment. I am by no means saying, "the customer is always right", but truly... The lack of politeness by the owner looks very unprofessional... You are a business and should be conducting yourself accordingly, not saying things like, "If you want rude and obnoxious, give me a call-" I liked your food, but after seeing how the owner responded to the negative reviews, I am happy to say I will not be supporting a business in which its owner thinks it's okay to escalate conflict in this way. The owner should be weary when responding to conflict, especially within the confinds of their business. There is an endless amount of disgruntled human beings in this world. However, the owner should be able to stand their ground whilst maintaining a certain level of politeness and respect. Be good to your customers. It is in your best interest.
EVERYTHING this bakery makes is stellar delicious! Sweet Thea makes the best sourdough bread and their croissants are out of this world. Every confection is outstanding. I rated them 4 stars because I find that the customer service is not great. The staff often act as through they are being interrupted from their work as I believe there is a full bakery on site. However, if you can put up with a little bit of 'offputting' service (nothing huge, no one has ever been outright rude, they just put out a vibe of 'business only, and make it quick!") then it is worth it for their incredible bread and baked goods. Oh, and my husband turns somersaults for their cookies, especially the chocolate chip, but also the ginger snap and their signature 'chocolava' cookies. Soooo good.
Bought a berry scone at New West farmers market. Had a high expectations since I saw many good reviews. The sales staff was awesome but the scone was disappointing. Soggy and no flavour I stopped after one bite. Went home and heated up in a oven. Still soggy and little chewy, not regular scone flaky texture. So sad...
We really liked everything we bought at the bakery after going there multiple times. The olive bread gets finished within a couple hours and my husband and I fight for the cream puffs (sorry, they might actually go by a different name). Also, never had a problem with customer service at this place. It's quality product for sure!
Ordered a vanilla sheet cake for an Anniversary party, everyone loved it!
Delicious baked goods and friendly staff. My favorite was the berry scones and jammers.
Just a front counter with a case of treats, but amazing cookies and scones and other fancier danishes! They seem to do alot of custom orders and cakes. Wish their location was less out of the way, then I'd stop in more often. Just drop coffee and no where to sit and enjoy.
They have amazing Stollen with marzipan and Lebkuchen here! The real deal.
Tsawassan ferry terminal kiosk. Utterly delicious pastries
Hello there I went to your store this morning for the interview not knowing you sent an email canceling the interview. I am so disappointed on even lost the chance for an interview because I brought some snowball cookies I made from scratch at home for you. I think you should have sent a text message or given a call in person for the cancelation of the interview. It was too short notice email of 8pm the day before. This is an unacceptable and offensive situation. Please do not again to any other candidates. Good good good good good luck with your business!!!!!! Thanks
Croissants are amazing!
Ordered a devil's food chocolate cake for my wife's b-day on Monday a.m.. It was ready Tuesday p.m. When the cake was brought in with the candles, everyone ooohhhed and aawwed as the cake looked so good. Eating the cake everyone commented how good it was and was just the right level of sweetness (not too sweet). Everyone loved it including my wife. I'll go back again.
I bought birthday cake from this place. It was good. I forgot to order but they had one tuxedo. It was tasty.
Great Stollen and friendly service. Highly recommended.
The Roasted Garlic and Potato sourdough bread is amazing!
Pleasantly surprised. Incredible almond croissants, will definitely come again!
Get yourself a hand pie. Stat. Apple and cherry are so good! The scones, croissants and sourdough bread are all great too. I love seeing them at the Port Moody Farmers Market but I’ve also pre-ordered from the bakery which was nice and convenient.
The selections are good but the staff are consistently cold and unfriendly. The two girls never say thank you to their customers. They're pretty new in the area so they should be more welcoming even their breads are good.
Everything I have tried at Sweet Thea's is amazing!!!! My family loves their pies, I LOVE their lemon tarts, their bread is incredible, and their cookies are delicious! I have ordered ahead on the phone and also walked in to their store and never have had any issues with customer service.
Recently visited and splurged on everything in the display! The staff was excellent and the taste is incredible. We'll be back for sure!
She made our wedding cake 6 years ago and our family is still talking about how good it was.
So I've recently discovered this bakery when I Google searched Langley bakeries, other reviews were saying this place was a hidden gem, and after looking at their menu and seeing that they had macarons there I knew I had to go drop in and see what this bakery had in store for me. It took me a while to find it but it was fairly close to my house and fairly easy to find parking outside, once you go into the shop you can see everybody working and hustling and bustling inside and you are greeted with their lovely display of breads, tarts, macarons and cookies! I was overwhelmed by how much choice there was but the first time I ordered something from them I got two of their hand pies for me and a co-worker some sourdough bread and macarons to share. Me and my coworker spent the time eating our hand pies for lunch and they were wonderful. I've tried their sourdough since I've made cheese melts with them and they are wonderful perfect crust nice soft tangy inside, all of their items are made with love and handcrafted. If you're looking for a new go to bakery for your fresh sourdough breads and or pastries give them a look! It's a wonderful place and the prices are very affordable.
Good service. Delicious pasteries.
Sweet Thea did a wonderful job of my moms 90th birthday cake after meeting with their head Baker Gabby. They were very accomadating on their pricing.l wish l had the option of posting a pic it was so beautiful.
Ordered a black tie for my husband on his birthday. Asked them to use less sugar, they said they cant modify any recipe. They were not very flexible in terms of decorations. I asked for less butter cream. That was something else they could not modify. Still went ahead. Their butter cream literally tasted like butter. I know it is called butter cream. It has butter in it but it tasted like a stick of butter . It was disgusting. Not to mention expensive
I went in there this morning and bought a couple of the savoury scones. They were delicious. Please keep having your savoury.. well let's just say all your scones in your store????
Excellent pastries and service
The pie we bought was good but it was sketchy that they would not provide a receipt for our cash purchase.
I'm not typically a dessert person. However I couldn't resist the tarts at the River District Farmers Market. I've now had the chocolate pecan, lime coconut and pear. I'm in heaven. Enjoyed a cheese scone with my morning coffee and loved it. The crispy top was perfect. I'm hooked.
I have to give this place a one star, if i could i would give a zero. I called to ask about a cake, got a disgruntled person on the other end, with no help whatso ever. I have never been here before. I have no idea what the offer and was inquiring about a cake for Friday. Which she did not even ask about just gave me a snotty we need 24 hours(this would be 72 hours notice, more than enough). Wow. Customer service SUCKS here. I will not be going here nor will i in the future. I'll be sure to tell people to avoid this place. Maybe the owner should stop attacking people on here and start having a better attitude. Good luck to the owner! I'm sure with that kind of attitude and rude remarks to bad reviews on here will have them shut eventually. Know your customers!
Owner is rude and obnoxious. So many reviews here that are completely on point about how terrible the service is and the inability to self reflect shown in their responses is evident. Ruined a very important family event and showed ZERO remorse. Edit: I’m not the person you are referencing below but if anything this just shows how many people are dissatisfied with this terribly run business. Look at all your reviews and self reflect.
I learned about Sweet Thea's cakes through a friend who hired her for her own wedding. Initial communication with Thea was good, but anytime I asked her about meeting in person and setting up a tasting she would ignore the question, advise us to check her site for the flavours we could choose, and continue asking about whether I would want delivery, renting her stand etc... I told thea we wouldn't require her stand and would discuss delivery once we decided if we would hire her. She then went silent for almost 2 weeks when I emailed her again and asked if we could meet in person. She did get back to me and set up a date, only to cancel on us the day before we were supposed to meet. I understand a busy schedule and gave her the benefit of the doubt, contacting her a few weeks later expressing that we were still interested in meeting. That is when Thea promptly emailed me back to say that she is unavailable to meet with us, that the last wedding she did broke her cake stand and therefore it would be easier for my fiancé and I to take our business elsewhere. Thea is a poor communicator and an even worse business woman if she is so quick to deny a customer in such an unprofessional manner. If you're looking to hire someone for your wedding, save yourself the headache and hire someone else.
Amazing macarons!!! Best in the city and we tasted everything from laduree to Thierrys to Thomas Haas. Thank you so much for the attention and care the tower was exquisite
Went to Thea to order a wedding cake, bridal cake and birthday cake and were assured she would take our order and everything would be fine. Three days before first even she cancelled order after earlier in the day confirming. Then radio silence for weeks until after repeated calls she says "shes not taking orders anymore." Worst customer service I have experienced from any vendor.
Terrible customer service, would not go back. Edit: we run a local hockey league for underprivileged youth. Called for a cake to celebrate the birthday of a child who didn’t have family to celebrate with and it was cancelled the day before. I should have read the rest of the reviews and realized this place has no commitment to service. Shame on you.
The number one sin for a bakery in my opinion is undercooked dough, the second is dryness. I ordered the Roasted garlic and potato sourdough, the ends were fine but the middle was soft and doughy. I also ordered a scone and it was both dry and stale, I understand scones aren't the most moist things in the world but it just tasted off. If you're looking for quality I'd check out Marie’s Guilt Free Bakery literally right next door, I've never had a bad experience there and there is a reason they're rated higher than this place
After searching for a decent bakery somewhat close to Aldergrove, this bakery came across in my search. I've read mostly good reviews so I decided to drop by. I've bought some pies to treat others and some for myself. After tasting, I hardly could stop myself!! Hands down one of the best bakeries in neighborhood! ❤
one of our go to places for birthday cake! sometimes they have one that you can buy but we've mostly ordered online and it's always the same great quality. our favourite so far has been the tuxedo cake and the lemon raspberry. I always make sure to grab a few pastries too when I pick up my order. the apple pie Danish and lemon tart is a must and the kids always love the macarons
Pies made from scratch and all butter crust. Need I say more? ????
Unfortunately I have to leave a negative review. While the food my girlfriend and I purchased was nice, it went moldy within a day. After emailing the bakery and being told a refund would be issued, the bakery stopped responding, to which I emailed again, and was again told that the money would be sent and I have yet to hear anything else.
Excellent pastries and service. Fruitcake is unbelievable! Finally found a place that makes just like my mother’s! Wonderful! Thank you so much! You made my visit worthwhile!
Their Vanilla Lemon Raspberry celebration cake is the best cake I have ever had. I ordered it for my Birthday a few weeks ago, and liked it so much I just placed an order for another Birthday. I always prefer a non-chocolate cake, but vanilla can get a bit boring on its own. THIS is the cake for me: it has vanilla, citrus, berry. Some cakes feel like all the cake does is hold up the icing, but not here: the cake part itself is moist, slightly dense, and delicious. In addition, we always pick up some of their items when we see them at a Farmers Market. Today, we got Campagne bread, ginger cookies, and twice baked Almond croissant and all are excellent!
