The stuff I had was overly sweet and somewhat greasy. The taste was okay, but nothing special. You do get a lot for your money, so if you‘re looking for something cheap to fill your stomach, go for it. I recommend sticking to the savory items.
I heard people mentioned about Sidney so many times but I was like “hmm, how can their donuts be that special”. I didn’t care until I actually visited the bakery and got some pastries myself. I had to say I never had any better donut. Their donuts were soft and fresh and just soooo good. Other desserts are yummy too. There was a long line up outside. It was quite rush inside the store and the staff wasn’t so friendly. But because what they sell here are just so good so I’ll be back when I have a chance
Baked goods that are so good there is a lineup down the block most times. Only feedback, make twice as many apple fritters!! They're sooooooo good!
Hands down the best donuts around the greater Victoria area.
Not a lot of space in the store. Gets fairly cramped in busy afternoons, and the selection becomes limited. Most of the food is overpriced; average taste and small portions.
The best ???? ever! Everything else as well. Try the apple strudel.
It is what it is - a 1950's bakery serving it old school. Definitely not 'artisan' which means it's fun and you won't still be hungry. Nice staff, affordable, massive selection. Enjoy.
Like we found a hidden treasure right here in Sidney. We love it ????
Great doughnuts
I've been going here for years. It's my favorite bakery in the world.
Bought a birthday cake but when I opened the box the top layers slid off the bottom layers. Had to pull it together but it didn't look as good. Haven't tasted it yet.
Best chocolate donuts (and everything else)! If they haven't run out of them, consider yourself lucky.
Always great. best bakery ever
Best bakery anywhere, on any part of the island. I love it!! ❤️
Tad disapointed at how much bake off product sold..squares, breads, turnovers.. Not from scratch..???????????????????????? Love the mince tarts in summer..???? Expected more like Crust..less crowdy displays..baked in store..great old shop hope it sirvives .... ..
I flew all the way from Ontario just go get a doughnut, it was totally worth it. I played hopscotch and ran way.
It is the place to pick up donuts! You will never look at a Tim Hortons donut the same again. I also really like their apple strudel. I tried a number of other things but found them a bit more average than the donuts and strudel. No bakery can be an expert in everything and tastes do differ - you may find some other things you would put on your excellent list and I have tried everything (yet)! :)
I went here after my run, what a amazing family bakery. So many nice foods, I run so I can eat cake, and there are lots of freshly made ones here. Thanks for giving me such a nice place to buy foods I love.
Good selection ,good prices.
Great bakery. They serve all sorts of freshly baked goods from donuts to bread to pizza rolls. The prices are very reasonable too: four cheese buns and two cinnamon rolls cost $6. There's no seating inside or out.
The long johns are outstanding. I had an excellent croissant with ham and cheese. The Jamican roll tasted like it was made couple of days ago. Definitely worth a stop.
This is THE place to go for all your fave baked goods!
If there is any reason to come to Sydney - it would be truly this place! Best staff on the whole island. Bailey / BK - All the luck with animation pursuit & never - never - never lose your true self! Spread those smiles! Thank you!
Very delicious and reasonable prices!
Great donuts and service. Lines went quickly and lots of people. Everything is good here.
Busy place, not enough personal help to serving customers. Long waiting time before being helped. The pastries looked yummy, but they were not fresh and hard to chew on.
The best donuts you could ever get in town. Close to my work place and it has been treating the staffs so well!
Worth a visit - be patient as there is usually a line up...but worth it. Yummy and beautiful confections. Located in downtown Sidney, close to shopping, sightseeing, numerous dining options, and close to transit options.
Love the lemon bites! Bran muffins delicious! Texas size donuts!! Definately need to stop here while in Sidney, it's well worth the wait in line!
Great selection of wonderful breads, pies, donuts. My caption for the image is "I just had one donut!" Guess which one.
2nd weekend in a row, shortly after opening, the sausage rolls were of questionable age. It seems unlikely a hard inedible pellicle could develop since opening. The skin was so hard we could hear it knocking loudly on the counter at home, some 20 mins after purchasing. Could I have returned them, yes and wait outside in line again after driving back to Sidney.
First stop I make after I get off the ferry. Best Nanaimo Bars in Canada. Great selection for such a small place. Seriously, the best bakery I’ve been to in all my travels, thankful it’s in our corner of Canada.
I know Google wants us to have these profoundly long, well thought out reviews of businesses. All I know is this is the best dadgum bakery I’ve been to in a very long time.
Whenever I pick up donuts for the office they come from Sidney Bakery. They are not the cheapest but they are the best around. I can't forget to mention all of the other great foods and treats in store. Unfortunately the line is sometimes down the block.
Really great bakery goods and the breads are just lovely. Staff can seem a bit irritated if you order too many things from the cabinets though.
I usually love this place. Had a bad experience this weekend though. My wife bought a lemon meringue pie on Sunday from the dayold rack. We cut into it that night and found a 1.5" spot of fuzzy thick blue grey mold in the center of the pie. Which leaves me to wonder just how old this pie was. She returned it today and didn't receive a sorry but was offered the refund. I would have expected some empathy since I find it inexcusable that it even be possible an item is there long enough to develop mold. I would have also expected the default response to be a new fresh pie, not just the refund. This won't stop me from shopping there, but I won't be grabbing anything from the dayold rack ever again.
Ordered online and got a confirmation email saying I would be contacted and payment and pick up time. They never phoned and honored my purchase. Kind of a disappointment as I was trying to treat my kids after a big hike. If you're not going to fulfill the service then don't offer the service. The donuts are good but I might as well just go to Tim Hortons as they are already have everything in stock and you don't have to wait around wondering if they're going to contact you to fulfill your order. No thanks
Should impingement quality control to not sell BURNT & SOMETIMES UNDER COOKED items, especially not @ full price. …
So popular and now with lines out the door. Fresh baked goods daily and you can order ahead for large quantities.
Excellent service and bakery treats as always
Wow what a selection and so far all delicious. You could spend a whole lot of money in there. May have to line up as it gets busy
The line moves quick! I ended up getting some donuts to go for my family and my children devoured them! My husband loved the chocolate dipped donuts. Its definitely a staple in Sidney.
Super good and not overpriced either
Great when they aren't serving burnt, over cooked & sub part items.
Hairs galore... If you want some hairy experience this is your place. Enjoy!
If you go here get an apple fritter. If they have the roast beef and focaccia bread sandwich get that to go with it. Absolutely delicious
Oh my, they make the most delicious and freshest donuts. We ordered 80 donuts from them for the donut board at our son’s recent wedding. Great choice for fresh donuts.
Absolutely amazing baked goods! I drive from Victoria to Sidney for donuts because there is no comparable place in Victoria! Yum!!!
Here are the most delicious eclairs. I didn't have time to take a photo, we ate everything fast. I recommend this bakery, very tasty.
Believe the reviews. The donuts really are that good. If you love British baked goods, they have raspberry jam donuts and almond tarts (that is, cherry bakewells) that are exactly like ones you'd get in the UK.
Had an amazing honey cruller there. This place has amazing donuts, always worth a visit!
AMAZING!!!! I have been searching for a good donut for about 15 years. My local bakery closed. Seriously the best donuts I've ever had
Best bakery in the world. My wife always scoulds me for overbuying. Cant help it.
Been to a LOT of donut places in my life, and these rank in the top 3. Every time were on the island, we must stop here. The dough is so fresh and soft, and flavours of the icing are amazing. Been here over 15 times and each visit has never disappointed. Must try are the strawberry filled and footprint donut, and cinnamon bun(filled with rasins).
Always worth the trip! May or may not have bought too many sweets on my visit today... but is that really even a thing?
Always delicious treats to be had. Staff friendly as always. Favorite place to stop in for take home treats after a visit to the Island.
So friendly and so goood
We waited in line, and as we got to our turn, there were six people in the store. A couple and a family of four. As the group/family of four left, we went in and were told one of us had to leave since only four people were allowed in the store at one time. We mentioned that four people just left with no issues and six people were just in at once. She responded with,'' it happens at times". I guess it is okay to have six people in as long as they are NOT a POC? BTW: LOL- Am I the only one who noticed the bakery has tons of spelling errors on their signs. Jamaican rolls spelled wrong and only to name a few :(
Feel like they hiked the prices on doughnuts significantly. I used to pay $14 for 14 or 15 doughnuts, but just dropped $19 on a dozen doughnuts. Still an amazing bakery. But that's too expensive to buy a bunch of coworkers doughnuts.
This place is very old school! Everything is amazing but be sure to get there early to get some of their donuts. I can't believe people are leaving bad reviews since they were sold out of donuts!
