The uniqueness of the variety of cinnamon bun flavours makes this place worth checking out if you’re driving by! The flavour options aren’t weird at all, but all sound delicious. We had the Cream Cheese w/ Sliced Almond and BlackBerry/Apricot/Ginger one. The cream cheese with almonds was the closest to a standard cinnamon bun and definitely above average, but not incredible. The icing was a little too sweet to me, but the cinnamon glaze inside the roll was excellent. The highlight was for sure the blackberry/apricot/ginger. So good! We were not expecting it to be as yummy as it was. We’d recommend going for an adventurous flavour if you’re stopping in!

I had (what i later learned) was a limited time hedgehog cinnamon bun. Huge! Made to me shared as it was with me. I was invited to share a "must have" cinnamon bun at OTB. Awesome! And so ???? to see the kitchen from the street-level window! Would be 5 stars except the counter staff were very snobby on my first and second visits. I have to admit i haven't returned. Once it's a "bad day" but twice? I find them very dismissive. Perhaps dividing their time? Not sure if they were coping with a delivery service or not. Noteworthy is that these visits were prior to the lockdown.

I stopped by picked up an apple pie + sourdough bread. I make "both" of these myself and have for years, so I feel confident I can give an honest opinion here -- it seems the pie is using canned apples? I could not tell if they were apples or peach slices( texture and consistency) the pie crust, literally has no holding or crust presence -- I won't eat it. Onto the sour-dough bread - I ate a small slice, dough like with no ( similarity) to any type of sour-dough bread I have ever loafed or baked( which has been MANY) or bought. I am a bit lost at the hype here, hmmm.

This bakery has more customers than it can handle. The food is good and the prices decent, but it is hard to find a seat at busy hours. I was there 1pm, in the middle of the week in July 2016. There was a long lineup and they are relatively quick at getting food in peoples' hands, but that is almost a problem. My wife and I were given three regular (breakable) plates for salad, bun, and soup. But no seats were available inside or out. Some people were holding tables while waiting in line behind us. They refused to give one up. I asked the employee cleaning tables to help us, as we held our cooling food, hoping she would know which customers were finished and just lingering. All she did was direct us to the steps on the nearby hotel for our meal. To make matters worse, they had forgotten to give us cutlery (you get your own coffee, but not your own utensils apparently). I had to make the trek back inside to the counter to ask. What is more, for all of these customers, there is only one bathroom. So prepare to wait again! There are other good lunch places just down the street. Consider them, if hungry or in a rush.

Stopped in there on the way to Tofino. Large selection of different types of cinnamon buns. They were very tasty. We got the tiramisu cinnamon bun and a blackberry and pecan cinnamon buns. There are tables but not many. Parking is on the street, not alot but Ladysmith is a small town anyway.

(Translated) World class cinnamon buns, although they are called differently here. In different versions: blueberries or with cream cheese or with peanut butter. There is also German bread here. Tastes just as good and is even cheaper than at home! :) Highly recommended! (Original) Weltklasse Zimtschnecken, wenngleich sie hier anders heißen. In verschiedenen Versionen: Blaubeeren oder mit Frischkäse bzw. mit Erdnussbutter. Deutsches Brot gibt’s hier übrigens auch. Schmeckt genauso gut und ist sogar billiger als bei uns zuhause! :) Sehr empfehlenswert!

Very Creative Bakery! Heard about the cinnamon buns and stopped by to see. Variety is amazing! Then stayed to try the lunch special. Yesterday was a veg chili and today it's smoke salmon sandwich. Both times, I added a Carmelized Onion and nuts Danish. Onion is sweet and the nut adds salty, so it's just surprisingly delicious. Do look for this place. You will be glad you did! And look for the outdoor Chess board and 2ft tall pieces

Until now we have tried: Date squares (the best ever) Cupcakes (perfect sweetness and size) Apple berry crumble pie (that crumble ????) Of course almost every flavour of the cinnamon buns! Chicken Pot pie Cheese bread ???????? Everyone there works fast and hard! Even when there's a huge lineup you are served in less then 5 minutes ! I work at a local camp most summers, and this bakery is a favourite of the staff at the camp. People often go to it, particularly for their cinnamon buns. I had one of the classic cinnamon buns here once, and I am happy to say that it was just as amazingly good as everyone made it out to be! There are lots of different cinnamon bun options too. This is a great place to stop in and get a quick snack if you are traveling north or south on the Island Highway. But it's a great place to go any other time too! When you go, you can also check out some of the other interesting shops nearby. Definitely recommend the Old Town Bakery!

Only came for the cinnamon buns, which we'd heard so much about. They were very good, though I think they'd be even better if we'd had them fresh right away instead of taking them with us and eating them later (I really liked the peanut butter flavor ones). Staff were very friendly. We called ahead the day before to order and it's a good thing we did because we got there later in the afternoon and they were totally out. Was very busy but they were well staffed and served us quickly!

Just stopped in this morning (Sep 25, 7:45am). Two people working the counter. One filling an order, the other yapping away to a customer. I'm standing there waiting to place an order and not one peep comes from either employee. No acknowledgment of any sort, just ignored. Walked out. They just lost me as a customer forever.

Best cinnamon buns around - so many different styles and many without the cream cheese icing which is nice. Their strawberry-rhubarb pies are a perfect mix of sweet and tangy, the pot pies are savoury with a beautiful pastry.. Yum yum all around.

Went on a Saturday and it seemed like they only had 2 or 3 staff members working. The seating area was very unclean, dirty napkins on the floor, salt & pepper shakers on the floor, etc. Couple items we bought were not very good and its unfortunate they only bake cream cheese cinnamon buns.

Difficult to review a bakery unless you sample baking. The coffee is good and their is ample comfortable seating. Parking is poor but not their fault as it is a downtown location. Park nearby and walk... It's worth it!

We have been stopping here for 8 years now. The chocolate and pecan cinnamon buns have been out of this world. But today was a total disappointment. There was a noticeable difference of the quantity of chocolate chunks and pecans. These did not look like our beloved buns. Hope they can rectify this soon. Maybe someone new made these?

The selection of sweet and savory goods is extensive - and all fresh - never defrosted from the day before. The whipped cream cream puff drizzled with choco is unlike anything we've ever been able to find in New York City. All said - Old Town puts Lovely Ladysmith on the map. There's an awesome selection of treats available here - it was difficult to choose what to have. My partner had a Nanaimo bar and I had a muffin, which was big and flavoursome - slightly unusual, almost a muffin/scone hybrid. Really enjoyed our coffees. They could definitely do with having some more seating - it was really busy in there and seemed as if they could make use of the extra space a bit better.

My main gripe about this place is the lack of seating. They recently did a reno and seemed to forget that people may want to come sit down. I avoid this place a lot because of it. Also, it seems their cookies get left out too long and you end buying a stale one fairly often. Coffee is decent though and they have many options to choose from. The cinnamon buns are pretty massive for the price. Nicely decorated but for god's sake - get some more seating. Also - there is no place to go for evening coffee in Ladysmith (Besides TH and MCD). Have you considered staying open until 8pm or so? I'm sure their would be a market for it....just saying.

I asked if I could get my coffee in my reusable mug, they said they could put it in a paper cup then put it in my mug, which defeats the whole point of using less cups. Other places have it set up where you pour the coffee in the mug without touching it. Also COVID has been proven to not be spread through infected surfaces anyway. It’s not that hard. Figure it out. How many paper cups are thrown out every day?

The only way to resist the cinnamon buns is to walk down a different block. Do not get within visual range of the cinnamon buns. They are a form of relativistic pastry singularity and nothing which enters their gravitational field can escape. Get here early!!! Old bakery feel. Like, -old- bakery feel. From the solid wood floorboards to the solid wood slab counters, you feel like you've gone back in time. The smells of fresh bread, cookies, pastries and coffee fills the air. Children and adults press their faces up against the display cases like a Rockwell painting, trying hard to decide what to get before it's time to tell the cashier what they want. Typically you can't decide and you get more than you anticipated - but you'll be thankful when you get home. You'll always find someone to share with. Or not, and it's ...okay... to be selfish like that with Old Town Bakery treats. We get it. It's alright. LOL. You'll expect the usual baked fair; bread, pies, cakes, cookies, and pastries, but there's still so much more. So much more. And so many varieties of your favorites. Get there early, plan to get more than you wanted, prepare to work off your indulgence. So much love for this place!

We are frequent visitors of Old Town Bakery when we pass through town. Every single time we are greeted by friendly staff, an amazing atmosphere and of course the smell of all the goodies. Everything we have ordered from cinnamon buns, cookies, bread, sandwiches (If you have not had the turkey cranberry stuffing sandwich, you are missing out), soups, sausage rolls, and so much more... everything is fantastic and so beautifully made. We stopped by today (in the midst of COVID) and I have to say, this team has adapted so well and really has a smooth system running. We reviewed the menu that was posted so clearly outside, went to the window and a very friendly smiling staff member took my order. Another staff member brought our Ofer out within just a couple minutes. THIS is a business that takes a crummy situation and adapts to the changes happening by getting creative with day to day business - well done. Please visit this business - supporting local during this time is so very important.
