Cory recently made us our wedding cake, as well as a batch of vegan gluten-free cupcakes for those with dietary restrictions. The cake was absolutely delicious and the cupcakes got rave reviews from our vegan, lactose intolerant, and celiac guests. Cory is very easy to deal with, and he did everything he could to accommodate our needs. He asked us many questions that we didn't think to ask ourselves, in anticipation of making sure he got everything exactly right. Hey! Cake This! gets a huge and strong recommendation from me, my wife, and 70 wedding guests, all of whom raved over the quality of both the main cake and the cupcakes. If you have a special occasion coming up, you owe it to yourself to call Cory.

Cory and his shop, Hey! Cake This!, was amazing to work with. I am so lucky to have found his shop to make a custom cake for my friend, Aidan's, 19th Birthday. Because of Covid, we weren't able to go out. Nor was I able to make it into town to celebrate with her and the family. However, Cory made sure her birthday was extra special. Aidan absolutely loves Jonas Brothers and he designed a cake that she fell in love with. He even made a special delivery of the cake to her place on her birthday! Did I mention he did it on a Saturday morning too? Working with Cory in designing the cake was a breeze. I gave the general outline and then he made his artistic recommendations. We communicated via email and he was very responsive and helpful. In all, I would highly recommend Cory and his cake shop. If you are looking for the best in custom cakes then look no further... don't take it just from me either. He was recently on BC's THE BIG BAKE show and took the top prize. Hey! Cake This! Is definitely a winner.

Cory is amazing! I am really glad that I contacted Hey! Cake This! for my sister’s bday. I ordered a dozen of Earl gray cupcakes with lemon icing. With plaque printed with Japan manga “Haikyu!! “ 12 characters. Cupcakes are beautiful. The lemon icing is so tasty and earl gray cake is super moist. Love the cupcakes! Cory is very responsive and keep me updated on the status. And even set up a table to present the cupcakes to the bday girl!!! My sister is soooo happy! I will definitely order cake again with Cory! I never write any review before but I really want to share my experience with everyone. Cory is the best!

Not only are his buttercreams the BEST buttercreams i've ever had... he has A TON OF FLAVORS. even flavors I would have never thought of. his decorations are perfection and he was even able to custom make ANGELFOOD cupcakes for my dad on fathers day. My dad is a picky guy who is hard set in his ways, and he was thrilled he was so happy to find cake and buttercream that tasted like how his mom used to make. Highly recommend. super professional, funny, polite, considerate. just wow. his service was so prompt. I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience with placing a birthday cake order from Cory. I already had an idea that I wanted a Pusheen cake, but throughout my communication with Cory, he was so collaborative and creative that he was able to provide amazing input to make the cake design even better. He's also extremely responsive, so if you have any last minute thoughts, he's always there to listen and take action. And of course, the taste is always a huge concern when a cake looks so beautiful! But to our delight, every one at the party loved the red velvet (not too sweet) and delicate cream cheese frosting. It looked a bit gory to cut up Pusheen...especially since the inside was so red...but we were so amazed by the intensive layering done inside the body of the cake that we were able to forget that it looked like we killed Pusheen! I look forward to ordering my future baked goods from Cory, who really does feel like he's there to make you the best possible product.

I was eyeing the Adventure Time cake for my birthday through Google and this business came up as one of the result. I wasn't sure at first but then it turned out the most amazing cupcakes! The fondant was soft but firm and what I love it's not too sweet as I cut down sugar for many years now. As I take each bite, it just makes me want to eat more! They also have a very detail in creating each characters on the cupcake. Unlike those cheap made cake, these are superb. Thanks Hey Cake This for making this birthday an awesome one!

He made it so easy and kept me in the loop every step of the way, even working through the night to create an amazing Grogu (the child from Mandalorian). It was absolutely spectacular and tasted amazing! As if that wasn’t enough Cory added some cake pops as bonus treat - so very sweet of him! Pure excellence! It really is amazing to meet someone who is this ridiculously talented and wants nothing more than to share their passion with others. I thought my request to Cory for a cake would be a big ask and in turn ends up making something one could be proud of to give to their own. The cake was clearly made with love and the attention to detail was nothing short of perfect. It didn't even end with the cake either as a custom card was also whipped up with very short notice. Ultimately, the entire process couldn't have been more comforting to have Cory be in constant communication over details, with suggestions and as well as having updates along the way. Their children love the intricate design and fun design as each had their own distinct look. The adults love the taste! I guess I love how well this turned out.

So I wanted to get surprise my mother in law for her 60th birthday and ordered a custom Autumn themed fondant cake with chestnut filling (her fav). Cory was very helpful with giving ideas and practically designed the entire cake based on the limited ideas from myself (I'm not very creative). He told me to bring fresh flowers and he will hand craft sugar roses to go with it. It turned out awesome and tasted like fluffy heaven!!! Everyone was amazed, almost didn't want to eat it because it was too pretty! All of us gave 10/10 rating and was really impressed. Cory is really passionate about his work and it shows in his designs and his service. Will definitely be ordering again in future! Oh PS: when we took the cake out in the restaurant, the waiter/waitress and people from other tables came over to ogle at it XD

Cory was fantastically prompt, accommodating, creative, and friendly, despite my constant last second changes — and even went out of his way to deliver the cake himself! Had a “Despicable Me” cake made up. It was all the little yellow dudes, minions. I can honestly say that I was blown away at how great the cake was. The final product was very impressive. Everyone who seen it immediately took out their phones and started taking pictures and ignored their kids! After cutting into it and tasting the cake the amazing visual experience was topped off by amazing flavours. 100% recommend Cory, and I will be back for my daughters cake :D

Oh my goodness. Cory is incredible. I reached out in hopes of getting something delivered to our twins who were turning 30, with less than ideal timelines. He not only made it happen, he over-over-OVER delivered. He went into action, provided constant updates during the process and delivered the most incredible, exquisite cake pops we’ve ever seen to both of our guys; who were blown away by the way. YEY!!! I found my forever cake designer and maker for all my family celebrations! I wasn’t going to write any reviews because I just don’t want to spend time doing it. But when I showed pictures of the cake Cory created for my daughter to my family and friends, I knew I had to write one. I was also reminded by my cousin and sisters about that rip off cake I received last year for my son. The cake we all called the Photocopy cake. THAT cake review will be next. But first, let me tell you about CORY’S cakes from HEY CAKE THIS! Cory does not limit the style, colour, theme, flavour, filling or size of the cake. He gives his clients free range. But keep in mind, price will obviously go up the more elaborate your imagination. If you can imagine it. He will create it! I reached out to Cory to get an idea of how much a Poppy cake would be and I even sent a picture I found online to him for reference. I told him to put many flowers and make the cake pink. I wanted strawberry filling, with fresh strawberries and a vanilla cake. Boy did he deliver! The cake I received exceeded my expectations. Everything on that cake was fondant. He cut out all the flowers, the letterings, the number, AND the star of the cake…. POPPY! He made a 2D Poppy! Nothing on that cake was a photocopy image stuck onto sugar paper. Look carefully at Poppy. Her dress, the eyes and mouth. So much details. Cory handprinted some of the details on her too. I commented on his Poppy and how I appreciated him not doing a photocopy image. He told me if the image is not complex he will do all it all freehand. I only gave I’m a week and a half for this cake too! Due to the pandemic, Cory offered free delivery. He wanted to make sure his cake was in the best condition for his clients. Cory is also very considerate. When he arrived, he actually took out a fold up table to place his cake on. He did not want to put the cake on the floor or ground where it could pick up germs. After he put it on the table, he stepped back (social distancing) so that I could take it. The box the cake came in was GOLD with a pink ribbon to complete the look. Did you know he actually MAKES all his boxes the cakes go into? No cheap see through cellophane. But a nice gold colour cardstock box. This is better because if the cake was to be a surprise , the box will definitely keep the cake hidden. My kids recycled the box and make gold cut out starts and crowns for their dolls. Cory is definitely a master cake creator. He will not disappoint. The communication between him and I for the cake was awesome. Before he went ahead with anything he was unsure of, he reached out to me. He wanted to make sure his suggestions was something I would also like. Vancouver is fortunate to have their own ‘Duff Goldman’. I regret not having found him sooner to make my cakes. The Photocopy cake was an expensive lesson. Don’t go to a place that limits you or brush your feedback off. GO TO CORY from HEY CAKE THIS! You won’t be disappointed! I look forward to my two other cakes in the next few weeks! I will post it here as well for everyone to see. His work speaks for itself. All his reviews are excellent. Nothing less than 5 stars. I wish I can give him 10 stars! Cory’s custom cakes ARE worth the splurge 1-2 or even 3 times a year! Thank you Cory!

Cory made the most amazing D&D themed cake for our son's 16th birthday. I had no real ideas (other than the theme, maybe some dice, maybe a dragon?) and the cake so exceeded what we had hoped for! Family and friends loved the taste (we went classic chocolate and vanilla) and as we are not fondant fans, the cake was covered in buttercream with fondant sleeping dragon, amazing logo, and chocolate dice and treasure. Super easy to work with, kept us fully appraised all along the way. Highly recommend Cory!
