The food, baking, coffee, employees and the owner are all wonderful. They go out of their way to go above and beyond it's even their policy to not ever kick someone out when you are staying past their closing time! They are all about people first and that is getting rarer in businesses today so great job Blacksmith Bakery!!
Blacksmith Bakery is more a cafe with homemade treats than a bakery. Stepping into the space, it immediately comes across as a cafe and the push to get a drink and sit down further cemented that impression. Blacksmith's selection is small: a handful of flaky pastries and some decadent multi-tiered cakes and tarts, something to have with your coffee. All relatively simple in style, rather tasty... though some items are a bit too pricey, in my opinion. - Mimi's Cake Tour
Absolutely wonderful baking and service, always consistently a hit!
Hard review cause my coffee was terrible ... just a simple double expresso.. was burnt to tar and couldn’t even drink it ... but my breakfast sandwich was good so tuff review .. needs someone who can make coffee ( in a coffee shop ) Response to owner : This happened this morning 8:00am , it was an order to go so I could not go back as I had to go to work..
Awesome coffee to start the day! Shrimp salad on a croissant is awesome!
Super slow service. Like ridiculously slow. For no reason other than the Baristas move in slow motion.
Quick and friendly service! Plenty of room if you include the tables at the back. Good coffee, and a the "Bee Sting" pizza was tasty... It had a nice account of spicy kick to it.
Blacksmith Bakery is the perfect place to go if you want a treat but don't want to show up at your favorite dessert place for the 5th time that week. People forget about Blacksmith because it doesn't have central locality like Wendals or WiFi like Lelems. Though we always seem to forget about this lovely bakery we never regret the extra trek to get here. Pro tip: there is extra seating in the back ;)
A must go place! The food here is incredible! My wife and I got about 5 food items to try including the fresh butter croissants, coconut egg white cookies, croque monsoir and the avocado toast. Everything was delicious. The staff and owner are very friendly.
Great coffee house/artisan bakery with a nice refined menu. Serving up awesome local ingredients with a Parisian flare ! Kid friendly play area too!
I like this cafe due to the fact it's not nearly as busy as Wendles and they have a cute area for the kids to play. Honestly one of the main reasons I come to this cafe is so my son can play. Otherwise, the few times I have ordered drinks I have been very disappointed. The latte was extremely bitter even with sweetener, my friends cold "chai latte" was literally a cup of milk with a tea bag in it... so not worth the $5. They have a great selection of food items... again the price though is a little steep.
Steep prices but very good pastries. Don't come to escape the heat, and don't come in a hurry - staff too busy flirting to serve you.
Quaint, cozy atmosphere with great pastries, delicious drinks, and an awesome addition of a pizza parlor!
Excellent baked goods and amazing local coffee. Well worth the wait!
Mmmm the lemonade is great if you don't drink coffee. Also, just a lovely bunch of staff
Consistently good coffee and lots of rotating gluten free items. Always busy so expect to wait but it’s well worth it!!
I see the girl with the buff on her head in the kitchen working everytime I go here and every time, she makes me an incredible pizza. She works hard and works fast! She is a great addition to the bakery's employees
First time here and what a lovely experience! I had a London dog tea with a gluten free custard tart while visiting with an old friend . The interior is cozy but roomy and I hope to go back when in that area again .
Nice food choices for something a little different. Ashleigh was awesome! Perfect ice latte! Bee-Sting Pizza was off tha two chainz fasho :)
This bakery has quickly become my favourite local European style Cafe. I make a point of trying the croissant ???? everywhere I go since I am from Europe myself and seek a certain taste, quality and texture in this artisan pastry delight. The croissants here are hands down the best I have had in the lower mainland and I've tried a few. The coffee doesn't quite hit the sweetspot as I enjoy a perfectly brewed Cafe con Leche like in Spain or France. The brunches are very good though with local ingredients which is important to me. The Victoria sponge is a little too dense and too sweet compared to the ones in UK.
The first time I went, the chicken salad I had was phenomenal. Just went tonight for my husbands and I anniversary, and it was like they didn't want me to ever come back. The entire salad was terrible and was literally an entire container of spinach tossed in oil that had zero flavour with a tsp of pine nuts, an old tasting avocado (I love avocado's) , and maybe 5 grape tomatoes cut. The chicken seemed to have been microwaved with zero flavour added. Maybe they didn't want to cook anymore since it was near the end of the night, but really? Super unhappy which sucks because there's not a lot of cute less expensive places in Fort Langley. Pretty disappointed.
10/10!!! This place is amazing. Their coffee and baked goods are phenomenal, you can tell everything is made with love and people who care about quality. My personal favorite is the whipped short bread, it's seriously the best.
Best croissants in town!
Cute place, nice and clean. Delicious food. Fun signs. Will visit again.
$16 for the blacksmith Benedict, you are paying the tourist premium here. The taste is nothing much to write home about. Mediocre at best...
Delicious baked goods, coffee and meals. Great location and decor. Must try the shortbread cookies!!
Our favorite cafe in Fort Langley. Great food, great service and a kids play station so you can actually enjoy your coffee!
Lovely place in a lovely small town. Great coffee and breakfast options.
Great little bakery and coffee spot. The eclipse are great
Great atmosphere and location. Food and drinks are good but a bit on the pricey side. I've always found it to be busy there.
This place is awesome. They have their own kitchen/bakery, so their baked goods are really fresh and really good. I tried their lemon meringue tart and it was wonderful. I also ordered an expresso machiato, which was ok but not excellent. I'll have to give the coffee another try at a different time. They also make sandwiches and what looked like flat bread so lunch can be an option there. They have plenty of sitting inside and out, perfect for sunny days. Will definitely be back there. Thanks!
I went here in my bid to try out as many places in Fort Langley as possible. Upon joining the queue, I found the service somewhat frenetic. It wasn't overly busy as I was stopping in for brunch. As such, I ordered the chorizo hash. The eggs were cooked perfectly and were rich in flavour. The rest was a little flat, however and considering the price, I would have expected a little more on the plate. I will be back but maybe just to try the coffee next time.
Came here for brunch and also brought home a bunch of their pastries and cake. For brunch, we ordered the prosciutto eggs benedict and chorizo hash. Both were tasty. The chorizo hash is more on a savoury side and the sauce could make really good pasta.
Great croissants, not so great hot chocolate. Would've been four stars for the hot chocolate but having respectful and inclusive bathrooms bumped it up to five stars. Some restaurants think it's appropriate to change the men's bathroom into a gender neutral bathroom and leave a women's bathroom - that's not inclusive in the slightest, definitely neanderthal thinking there. Blacksmith got it right, bravo.
Great environment, unbelievable baking, and a really good coffee bar with a variety of beans for a sale as well. Perfect spot to sit down or take away.
Very nice sandwiches and coffee. Great design, gets a little bit hot inside in summer days. Great services and nice play area for small children.
Nice and cozy. Great coffee
Great place to stop for coffee and a bite.
Best croissants in town! The other baked goods they offer are fantastic as well.
Sandwiches and coffees were great. One suggestion would be to have a gluten free bread available.
Found this little gem in Fort Langley with decent coffee and croissants. However quality is inconsistent after a few more visits. We tried pretty much all of their croissants. Our original excitement for their croissant on every Saturday eventually died off after chewing on soggy pastry, burnt bits. However they have great atmosphere and friendly staff.
Kids had the kids cheese pizza and my wife and I shared the Margherita pizza. Both were delicious. Americano, London fog and hot chocolate were all good too!
This is obviously a famous place judging by the line and crowded seating. Lots of food options although not much vegan options. They did accommodate a half pizza with cheese and half without and it was very delicious. The desserts looked great. The soy late was excellent. Staff were courteous. Be ready to stay in line for a little bit but it moves fast.
Great food here. Pizza is great. Fairly large space to sit for a cafe style
Happened upon this bakery when visiting this lovely town during the annual Cranberry Festival, and what a pleasant find it was! High quality ingredients, artisan made with a focus on local and community building, this place is full of goodness and not to be missed out on!
Great pasterys. Even better coffee ;) a little too busy at times tho.
Great coffee, amazing desert treat stuff. I am now a frequent customer. Seating is always available when I go on week days. There is extra seating in the back fyi. You won't be disappointed.
Great bakery stuff, coffee ☕ breakfast and lunch, too.
Good food, good coffee. Would be great if they served a bit faster when they aren't busy, be prepared to wait a bit longer than their competitors in the area, but the quality is very good.
Great hangout in Fort Langley! Baked goods are my go to (the pan au chocolat) to accompany a tasty Americano but I’m not sure you can make a bad choice here.
These guys always make a great London fog. Shared the Guinness cake w/ baileys icing. YUM. Also had the Cherry Clafoutis. It had a very nice flavour, not too sweet, the cherries were tasty.. only thing was, it had a strange almost grainy texture. Busy place on the weekends but worth the wait. Line moves quick
You can't go to Fort Langley and not stop here. The croissants, for one, make the trip out worth it but the rest of their menu is exciting and features local ingredients whenever possible. You can tell they take a lot of pride in what they serve. Seriously, their croissants are probably the best in the province.
Excellent coffee, yummy pastries, and an amazing gluten-free crust pizza! On top of that, Blacksmith is doing a fantastic job of re-opening under COVID-19 restrictions. Well done, Blacksmith team!
A nice bakery cafe serving coffee and different kinds of cakes. I ordered ice latte, fruit tart and green apple cheese cake. All were very delicious and good value for money. Decor was simple but interesting. Saw a lot of mothers taking their young kids to buy cakes and coffee here. A neighbourhood gem. Good to come to have afternoon tea after walking around in Fort Langley for a while.
Excelent place. The bacon chesse and the ham and cheese croissant are the best.
Tasty food. A bit overpriced. Cute location.
It's great place. I go to here every Sat or Sun early in the morning for having croissants and coffee. Highly recommend this place.
It's great place. I go to here every Sat or Sun early in the morning for having croissants and coffee. Highly recommend this place.
This place is highly rated for a reason! Loved everything I tried there, although it’s pretty crowded, but there is second room I found only when I visited for the third time.
I ordered the Butterfly Blue Mtacha Latte, a croissant, and the Breaskfast Sandwhich. The food was delicious, although pricey. The egg was nice and runny, the sausage was well seasoned, and the potatoes were well seasoned. It was very filling. The croissant was also delicious, a nice crispiness to the outside with a buttery soft inside - yum! Sadly, the latte tasted like over priced watery steamed milk. It looked quite pretty and I'm sure was made as their 'gimmick' drink, but it is not worth the price. From the name, I figured it would be a blue match latte, but I tasted zero matcha and was left disappointed. My friend ordered their Chai Latte and she was also disappointed with how bland it tasted (not enough chai spice). Overall I'd recommend the food, but would steer away from their drinks.
Nice. Friendly staff. Bakery food is delicious and yummy.
Busy licensed cafe on the edge of Fort Langley village. Pretty extensive menu of sandwich and baked goods/pasties, with beer, wine and mixed drinks as well as the usual coffee and tea offerings. Interesting options, but the quality can vary. Pleasant decor with walls that roll up in good weather, some outdoor patio seating, indoor small tables and long table communal seating. Street parking out front, and behind shops across the street.
Wow that was great. We tried a pizza with procusto, veggie sandwich, Victoria cream and truly chocolate. All great. Busy yet still fast and very friendly happy service. Worth a trip from Vancouver
Nice selection of pastries, and good covid management. Good pricing. Ordered pain au chocolat which had wonderful flavor, though would have been perfect if baked longer as the very center was just under-done. Looking forward to trying again.
Unreal baking, the specials just seem to get better and better. Friendly staff and a cozy environment. And always nice chatting with the barista while your coffee is getting fixed up
Coffee done right. Good people. Very busy and trendy place. Baked goodies are excellent.
The Butterfly Blue Matcha Latte doesn't really taste like matcha. There is a wired herbal taste which I assume is coming from whatever that makes it blue. After finishing half of the latte then I can start to taste some matcha but the taste is still quite weak. I wouldn't recommend it. *Edit. After clarification from the owner, I would suggest a name change for this drink as most people associate matcha with green tea.
Delicious, good quality food. Staff very friendly.
Great service and great croissants. I was talking to the owner as he was working the barista station, nice gentleman. Please support your local businesses, especially this bakery. Definitely coming back! Thank you for a great service
Menu is simple yet offers plenty of great options. I suppose the restaurant can be considered a fun little place.
Could be new best cafe in Fort Langley! While others have been milking their customers and slowly lowering the quality, BB is the answer! Update: Late December 2018: Took my money and then told me that there's no more whipped cream left :-( Cafe has legal capacity for 30 people, but I calculated 33 guests while waiting a long time for my order :-( Cheese cake was soggy and a disappointment today. Table was very wobbly causing lots of coffee to spill and be wasted. Summary: Quality varies alot depending on the day.
Delicious food. Reasonable prices. Excellent coffee. Pleasant staff and service with a smile. Have a meal or a snack. Recommend the scones!
I really love this place but wish there was wifi so I could work while eating and enjoying my coffee. Everything seems a tiny bit overpriced too, but I guess because it's such a touristy area. The food is yummy and pretty healthy.
Waaay too long for a pizza lol, a proper pizza oven will cook a pie in 3 mins tops. Here I am waiting 45 min+ for a slice
Delicious food and beverages. Staff friendly and helpful. I make a special effort to come here whenever I am in Fort Langley.
Excellent Fort Langley eatery. Awesome pastries and wonderful staff. I will be back to try out additional menu items and power up to a five star review (all all going well ????)
One of the best coffee shops i have been. Nice interior, lighting and welcoming welcoming staff. One of the best place if you want to sit alone and and spend some time read a book or something.
Blacksmith Bakery is our go to place in Ft. Langley for coffee and baked goodies. Their breakfasts are good too. If you are a group of more than four, get there early, it fills up fast. In pleasant weather there are tables outside too.
croissant is so delicious
Everything is good , Seriously !! Especially the Guiness cake and Macciatto ❤❤❤ Lunches are yum yum yummy too !!
Excellent food and experience every time I go! Food is always very fresh, handcrafted and can be savored in the bakery's cozy modern setting!
Nice pitstop from Vancouver to abby.when tragic on freeways bad If your heading towards Matsque anyway. Great coffee and super high end deserts
Yummy selection of breakfast and lunch as well as delicious bakery and artisanal drinks
Great food. Great bakery items. good drinks. And great cofee.
Hot spicy crispy pizzaaa and great short bread
Great coffee and yummy pastries. Cozy on a chilly and wet day. Lots of good seating hidden in the back!
Wow please. Great food...friendly service...great coffee...will be back
4 Starts for the ambience and a small kids play area. Oddly enough there's a play area for kids but no kids menu??? Only thing on the menu that is kid friendly is an $11 grilled Cheese sandwich! The rest of the food seems overpriced too. I'll definitely go back for the coffee/treats, ambience and small kids area, I'll have pack the kids something. Definitely not paying $11 for grilled Cheese sandwich again! Don't see myself having lunch there again.
Very disappointed that they don't pay their staff a living wage. Their lemon and blueberry scone was extremely dry and hard. Their pâtisserie cakes and croissants are excellent.
Fantastic Chocolate Nemesis cake, Truly Chocolate cake and good Agro coffee latte. Music was too loud to hear each other seated at the tables in the rear but other than that our second visit was good. Will be back again!
Nice, cute spot in Fort Langley. Good choices, however prices are a bit steep for sandwiches and pizzas.
Brunch here was ok. Ordered the blacksmith benedict & latte. Potato’s had good flavors but were a tad dry, eggs were over cooked but the prosciutto was tasteful. Service was quick & food came out in less than 10minutes. I would not recommend the breakfast but the choice of pastries looked good.
This is a split review...about 4 or 4.5 for my non-vegan family members and about 2.5 from me, the vegan. Staff had very little idea what was vegan, and eventually suggested some sides, so I ordered potatoes, (delicious!) toast (it arrived buttered..) and avocado. The meals my family members ordered looked and tasted amazing, and were thoroughly enjoyed. My suggestion is to add one or two vegan friendly options...there are lots of us who would love to enjoy your beautiful cafe.. Perhaps next time I visit I will be pleasantly surprised?
This place taste very bad. The coffee is like half cup milk mixed with coffee, very amateurish. the cake taste so strange, not reguler taste, me and my friends are feel so bad, and never come again. by honest speaking not worth.
Great coffee via Republica coffee roasters but overpriced food. I paid 15$ for a smoked turkey sandwich and although it tasted fresh, it was way too small. The cookies tasted good, especially the double chocolate chip flavour but they to were overpriced and thin.
They have the slowest service but the pastries are not bad.
Yes to all the other great reviews on the food and drinks here! Yes, some of the food is (a little too) pricey, and yes, sometimes it's super busy, but worth the wait. Perhaps that's why (in 2019!) there is no WiFi here, to encourage people not to camp out, but with all the other great options in town, I unfortunately skip this cafe now. Sometimes we want to disconnect by connecting, or at least have that option.
went today and it was a nice location and scenery, however food was pricey for what you get. My wife and I went to have lunch, we ordered together and got our food about 10 mins apart. She got her eggs while waited an additional 10 mins for my calzone. Better time management is needed for this so that people can eat together and food is served at the same time.
I'm not sure how this place receives anything less than 5 stars to be honest. Perhaps the only downfall I've found is that they do not have wifi available to their customers making it a less desirable location to study. Customer service: incredible. The staff are lovely, kind, and accommodating even during busier times. Latte: this is a proper latte. None of that weak starbucks business. You'll feel and taste the espresso immediately which is a welcomed component as an avid latte drinker. You really do not need any sugar or sweetener to enjoy it, and in fact I'd recommend against it so you can properly appreciate the taste of the espresso. Breakfast sandwich: really tasty, great portion, and they even supported me getting half salad half potatoes as a side because I was too keen to try both! The salad was light and a refreshing palate cleaner. The potatoes were well seasoned and not greasy which was appreciated. The sandwich itself had great flavors, it was decadent and did not feel weighed down or greasy which was impressive considering it has aoili, cheese, and sausage. Very well done!! The aroma of fresh croissant well grip you like a loving hug if you come here first thing in the morning, and with that said, their ham and cheese croissants are likely the best I've ever had. The ambiance is wonderful. A lovely place to come for brunch with a friend, read a late night book and enjoy a fresh pastry (they're open until 9p!) or to simply sip espresso and escape the rain. Highly recommend!
Great bakery! Mouth-watering pastries. Delicious coffee. There is a relaxing and warm chemistry in the air. It doesn't matter you have a coffee by yourself or have a friend to catch u with, it is a great place.
Best service I've ever had. Great staff! Good food and drink ????????????????????????
So so so yummy. There is almost no way to choose a favourite pastry. I want one of each. They are delicious, flaky, chewie, crunchy and so satisfying. They are a perfect finish to a light soup lunch or a breakfast all on their own. Can't wait to go back and delight another friend with a new favourite place to meet.
Great place for coffee and croissants ❤ the staff is wonderful too ✌
I ordered a sandwhich and a sticky bun. I received a croissant with ham by mistake but they gave it to me for free and brought me a sticky bun too! Thanks!
Best pizza in Canada! Hands down! We loved every bite of it and the homemade crust is to die for. The baked goods are super delicious as well. The croissants are extremely good as well (close your eyes and you’re in France) ! Service was super friendly and attentive.
Terrible customer service the server actually turned her back to me as I was explaining to her that the hot chocolate tasted like coffee...left without the hot chocolate or any attempt to make a new one. Should have gone to Wendel's or Saba.
Blacksmith Bakery has quickly become a Fort Langley staple. Good food, friendly staff and plenty of seating make it a great place to meet up with friends. However, there is no free wifi which is a little odd for a bakery/coffee shop. It can be a little pricey but overall very good food. Highly recommend the hazelnut croissant!!
Ordered a large dark roast not knowing what to expect and it was the perfect temperature and SO SMOOTH!!! Would get coffee here again.
*PROS: Environmentally friendly forks, and the cakes are delicious! *CONS: Beer way too expensive ($7.50), and their front door is fricken noisy (please fix that soft-close mechanism). Overall the food was awesome and service was decent. PS - I would have bought a beer, but only if I was guaranteed a 20oz pour in a frosted mug.. but no where did I see details about the beer (just the Four Winds tap). I imagine many others felt the same as your store was packed and no one had a beer.
I used to love this place when it first opened. And would come in regularly, I brought a friend to get coffee the other day ( she hadn't been before, and I was telling her how I loved it) unfortunately we didn't have a good experience at all! We both ordered the ABLT Sandwiches ( separate orders, a few people apart) she ordered hers with no tomatoes. Mine was just regular. It took them 15 minutes to bring me my Sandwich ( which was wrong) then they took an additional 25 minutes to make her Sandwich! We were standing in the sun, and had our children with us.. and it was hardly busy. Unfortunately I won't be returning, and neither will she. I'm sad to see, that this was our customer service as generally it's very good!
The good and coffee at Blacksmith are amazing... I'd go be it 5stars but they don't have public wifi!?
Nice bakery, busy spot for people to grab a bite and hang out with indoor and outdoor seating. Had their baked good and tasted great. Their matcha drink tasted more like water, but theit chai tea latte was great. Busy place- waited ~10 min to get in, was worth the wait.
Food tastes good. Handcrafted drinks take a long time to make but overall quite yummy
Stopped at the Blacksmith Bakery randomly to get an afternoon snack. Decided on the pain au chocolat, carrot cake and a croissant bread butter pudding. Kids loved the last two and the pain au chocolat was amazing. Perfectly crispy, buttery and downright delicious. French quality I would argue. Will be back for more. Great find.
Cute little bakery with good food and drinks. Very cosy indoors with some seating and more seating is available outside. Staff were nice though were fairly busy when I went in. Prices seemed a little high for some of the drinks too.
Excellent food and drink offerings. I've gone to Blacksmith many times since it opened and the offerings are consistently good, but the process of lining up and buying items for consumption is excruciatingly bad. The young staff do the best they can but there is serious problem in system and work-flow that ownership/management have failed to address. Though there is little competition with Blacksmith in Fort Langley at this point, when viable alternatives inevitably appear, it will be difficult to remain loyal to Blacksmith with their often stagnant-seeming line-ups, and haphazard order fulfillment.
Loved Blacksmith Bakery and can't wait to return! As an ex-pat Brit I'm always on the look out for Victoria Sponge - it is hard to find! Here they serve a spectacular Victoria Sponge, generous portion and totally delicious. Coffee was also great and all the other food looked amazing. It's a licensed café so would be a nice place for lunch with a glass of wine. There are a few outdoor tables and chairs so if you have your dog with you, you can still visit. Highly recommend
Their espresso is excellent, Agro Roasters. They even have GF blueberry scones!!
Went here for the first time and oh boy it was good. Got a London fog and a slice of Guinness and Bailey's cake. Phenomenal. 10/10 would come back and eat more baked goods.
The food is delicious, it's usually busy so don't go peak times if you're in a rush
Wish we would have had time to sit down. Such a nice, clean cafe, with amazing baked goods and smoooth coffee. We got the best yogurt parfait we've ever had. Homemade Greek yogurt and granola with fresh berries. Delightful!????
Great coffee. Food and baked goods are very good according to friends (I haven’t eaten anything there myself).
I go here for the almond milk latte. The service is great and atmosphere has such a community feel to it!
Our favourite spot in Fort Langley. Kid friendly, delicious food and drinks, great staff, and a nice bright open layout which is comfortable.
Good things come to those who wait and this bakery is worth waiting for. It’s located on a busy intersection so lineups are bound to happen. The food here is fantastic!! From their freshly baked goods to their chef created salads, it’s a guarantee to fill your tummy and soothe your palate. I even treated myself to a meringue and it was the best I’ve ever had. So stop in for bite whether it’s big or small. It’s worth it!!
Wonderfully friendly staff who went the extra mile to make our experience a little extra special! Great tasting bakery goods!
Awesome atmosphere, great food, and a big, private room in the back of the building that can be used for various events. The reason I was there was for a celebration of life for my best friend.
Always busy, which is a good sign. We love the butter croissants and pain au chocolat. sandwiches and pizza re great quality too.
Their croissants are the best! The cakes were okay, I tried the carrot which was better than the chocolate one I tried. We have had brunch there a few times, the eggs benny was better than their chorizo hash.
Great pastries and sweets and great coffee. It was pricier than your average café, however the size of scone and croissant probably warranted the price. I had their nitrogen infused cold brew coffee, which was fantastic and I would recommend it, especially on a hot day. They have a mixture of seating indoors and out and they also have a small play area for toddlers.
My mother found out about this place and we went together not once but dozens of times past year. Great place and now offering my food. Friendly staff and very nice and clean interior. Hope this place has continuous success! Fyi their crescents and coffee is amazing
What beautiful delights they had there! I loved the decor and the treats. We sat there for a while and it was a beautiful experience.
It's as close for us to come here as it is to go to Fairhaven. So good. This has to be the best Bennie ever.
Stephan consistently offers up the best croissants outside of France!
What can I say, I’ve spent most of my life working in small bakeries and coffee shops, the quality at Blacksmiths Bakery is outstanding and quite exceptional. It is an absolute gem, we’ll certainly be back on a regular basis I guess. The coffee’s not bad either !!
Cute little cafe.
Great! Gluten free stuff... excellent baristas!!! The best coffee around!
Blacksmith Bakery is probably my favorite at Fort Langley! Love their coffee and their sweets and their bacon and cheddar croissant is a must have! You won't regret spending time here at all. Fair warning: they don't have public wifi... Not a deal breaker for me, because I can then enjoy the company of others... But just saying...
Had the kouign amann, which was not what I was expecting. Kouign amanns are supposed to be sweet, buttery, and flaky... Like a sweet croissant, but this one was bready, like it was made with cinnamon bun dough. (edit: i was not expecting a response. Thank you. It shows that you care, which means a lot. I have changed my rating accordingly)
Great place and friendly staff, always welcoming and all the workers look like they are really happy to be there. The ambience is warm and spacious with a beautiful table as the center piece. A wide variety of foods and great coffee. I wish there was a dedicated gluten free shelf all to its own so there is no chance of cross contamination. Beautiful outdoor area, small but wonderful. There is also a tiny little area for infants and children to play (emphasis on small)
In this case the line up and wait is worthwhile. Reasonable prices, good coffee beverages and many sweets combine for a pleasant stay. Even the washrooms are clean and tidy.
Some of the best baked goods I've had. There's usually a lineup.....because it's good.
I used to rave about this place, but not anymore....I first came across this place about 3 years ago...great pastries and coffee Then I came a year ago...and the pastry tasted like it had freezer burn... Just recently went in again...ordered same pastry......and yup freezer burn. It is disappointing. I like supporting small business....but there are other great places in Fort Langley to support. You've los my business and no more recommendations from me.... If you read the owners responses it is just as disappointing...responds like a politician
Great place for pastries, specifically layered pastries, they have have it down to a science. Good coffee aswell
Great food. Sometimes it gets so busy that the (young) staff have trouble keeping up. I always go back, though, so it must be good ;)
Excellent almond croissants. They’re special with some hints of hazelnut throughout.
A favorite place to visit everytime we are in the area. Great cakes.
I drive here almost every weekend for delicous breads and cakes! ????????
The croissants were delicious! Flaky and flavour was on point. Will def be back!
Awesome Croissants worth the wait.
We've been here twice now. Both times the food was delicious and fast. It was busy both times as well, but I wouldn't call it a small Cafe either. A good amount of seating, including outside options. Will return.
Great latte and ham and Swiss croissant! Maybe a little pricey, but I guess it is Fort Langley after all.
Cute coffee shop with a pretty decent food selection. They have a lot of seating. No wifi but it's nice to be unplugged for a bit! The cake was delicious!
Every time I’ve come here it’s been a wonderful experience, however last week was not. Older lady took my order and was not friendly at all. I wish I got her name to report her. She rushed through my order and messed up the whole thing. First, she gave me the wrong baked good. When I approached her, I told her I had already taken a bite not realizing it wasn’t what I ordered, she grabbed it right out of my hand and threw it in the garbage. Second, I ordered an oat latte (I’m allergic to dairy) and guess what I got? A regular milk latte. The barista made me a new one and gave the regular one to my fiancé which was nice of her. I love the bakery otherwise, but if she’s working, I will not be ordering!
Incredible staff and delicious food. A very kid and adult friendly atmosphere.
I am an avid baker and normally refrain from buying pastries from shops. Since discovering Blacksmith... my oven hasn't been used nearly as often. High quality ingredients; pastries are prepared to a high standard.

Great croissants! Great people! Can't wait to go back!!
Decent coffee but horrible customer service. I paid for a 16oz Americano Misto, received a 12oz. When I pointed it out to the employee, she told me it's really just more water and brushed me off. Cool, then why charge me for a 16oz? No refund for the over charge or solution offered.
Delicious coffee, and absolutely stunning pastries. This place was packed to the gills, but moved so efficiently! Next time I'll stay for some brunch cos it looked delectable, but was sooooo pleased with the assorted pastries we brought home. I love the history of the area displayed proudly on the walls, the warm interior, and just the hometown feel the room holds. Can't wait to return!
The best vanilla latte I've had in a while. Perfect sweetness and no bitterness to the coffee. Service was friendly and quick. I highly recommend this place.
Very delicious pastries and nice hot beverages. Staff are super friendly and nice. I tried pastries and smell pizzas. Their pizza looks and smells awesome and I'll try it for sure next time. If you are around you should try this place.
Great place but slow service
Great food and friendly lady cashier was nice to meet! But the older guy that worked that day needs a more positivity towards other staff :)
Lovely little bakery, always busy. Everyone I've ever taken here loves it :)
Great poached eggs. I told tried the pain au chocolat and cheese croissant and they were really good too.
The coffee and the desserts are delicious
Food here is always delicious & their desserts are amazing. Hard to find a seat most of the time. Very popular & a favourite place to eat when visiting Fort Langley
Best croissants anywhere. My aunt said "the best she's had outside of France"!
Love it! Best breakfast sandwich I've had.
Great spot for cool eats.
Disappointing! The coffee is good, but the “breakfast sandwich” is a joke, precooked ingredients that don’t even look or taste like poached eggs and sausage.
The chocolate croissant was amazing. I would have posted a picture but I ate it almost immediately. Just pick anything and it will be amazing.
One of the baristas, Abi, was super awesome today. I went back 2-3 times to get my latte sweetened and she had no problem helping me out. I felt back having to go back but her exact words were “No worries, I want you to love your drink!” Excellent service here! Mik at the cash register was also delightful.
The friendliest, amazing, delicious coffee shop! It rarely gets super crowded and has such delicious treats and savoury pies! Definitely worth a drop in!
Nice trendy atmosphere but hot chocolate was served cold, and then they forgot to bring the new one they promised. Cafe latte was more like a strong cappuccino. Not the best service, staff won't share the WiFi password either. Reasonably good baked goods though. Wouldn't go again even so, plenty of other places in town.
We LOVE this place. The food and atmosphere are great. There is a little toy section that keeps little ones entertained for a few moments to allow mom and dad to enjoy the great food. They have a new all day breakfast menu as of about a week ago with some great selections. If you are visiting Fort Langley, you need to stop by Blacksmith.
Nice area, good pastries (made in house) I wasn't a fan of the Earl Gray latte I had, but I would defenetly go again and try something different :)
Had coffee with some friends. Warm and friendly place.
Wonderful pastries, sandwiches, pizzas, coffees & teas. Inside and patio seating. Sometimes they have long lineups but totally worth it.
If it wasn't for there amazing baked fresh goods I would never come here. The staff are a bunch of incompetent humans, who lack any kind of motivation besides what is going on in there own head. If you order anything simple, ie. A coffee and a sausage roll, not only will they place it in there toaster oven that takes entirely to long. But they will forget about it and it will burn, which in turn will start the entire process over. And don't get me started on if you want an actual meal. I have never written a review in my life, but I just honestly feel bad for the owner of such a great establishment not to have a single life form working behind that counter. Not only have they lost my wife and myself as a customer. I will never recommend this place to anyone. If you do end up here plan on your coffee taking an hour to be poured and received.
Necessary refuel spot after a long run. Great cappuccino guys! So many delicious pastries it's hard to pick just a few. Fast service and very busy inside so grabbing one of the few tables outside is best if you're lucky
Amazing baked goods here and the coffee is really well-made. They make all the bakery items in the back, the fruits cheesecake and the croissants are both amazing
Some of the best croissants
The food here is great. I tried the bee sting pizza. I absolutely loved it. Coffee is quite good as well. The atmosphere is very relaxed and it is a nice place to stop by while visiting Fort Langley. To be fair, it was early in the morning, but when I was there, the front counter staff seemed sleepy, however back end staff were very nice.
Wow, small little corner coffe shop. Pastries were delicious. Huge selection of top notch desserts and drinks. The staff is extra friendly.
Cozy place. There's actually a back area as well. The coffee is delicious and the sweets are freshly made. They have the best sandwiches as well.
Americanos not the greatest. Kinda bitter. Have experienced this more than once. Location and atmosphere are good.
Awesome baking and tasty coffee. Love their little kids play area to keep little ones entertained.
I had the absolute worst Margherita pizza I've ever had. Crust was like cardboard, and for whatever reason, we kept getting a hint of blue cheese after taste, like the ingredients used to make the pizza were off. The pizza also seemed like it was under-baked all throughout, which was odd considering how paper thin the crust was. The place had a very stuffy smell, like the central air system was inadequate. To boot, the "clean" cutlery had food stuck on it. The whole place seemed dirty, not well maintained, and we did not enjoy anything about it. We tried to branch out and ended up going back to Wendels right after and had a wonderful meal for less cost. Makes me realize how well Wendels does it.
service was great! staffs were kind and super helpful! thank you.
Awesome little spot for a baked treat and coffee with my girlfriend.
Got a lemon meringue tart and a bacon croissant and they were amazing! Ended up going back the weekend after and getting a 1/2 dozen of the bacon croissants. Definitely worth the price!
Awesome Croissants!
This bakery is only a block off the main street in Fort Langley and is a must try. Most likely you will have to wait in a lineup as it is very popular. The reason...amazing coffee and teas with delicious baked goods. They also serve breakfast and other plates as well. I would say the prices are a bit on the high side but the quality is pretty good to match, consistent for the area. There is seating in the front part where you order but also extra seating down the hallway and in the back.
Lines take a loooong time here. Coffee is great. Atmosphere is good. Food is good. Prices are high. Service is slow.
You don't leave Fort Langley without stopping at Blacksmith! The coffee is great – they take extra care to make sure it's just right. The delicious treats – I'll have one of everything please! Great service too. The staff there is so friendly. Love love love.
I always get my sweet treats here, lovely place. Absolutely delicious. I recommend giving their tarts a try! Staff are always friendly and patient.
Really nice place with good food, great baked goods and a nice environment. Great for a quick coffee stop or for a gather with friends. Not lot of tables to sit around though so might be a bit crowded during busy hours
What a savoury croissant! I loved that I got a warm one when I ordered. The Kouign Amann was also delicious. I loved the subtle sweetness. I bought an extra croissant for the day after and it was still yummy when I toasted it for breakfast. This is a must visit spot if you are in the area!
we visited the Blacksmith Bakery. I am not at all impressed. First they advertise that they are licensed, but when you want to sit outside, you are not allowed to take the drink outside. We had a couple of sandwiches, a pizza and some coffee. The pizza is something we would serve children. Cheese and a bit of tomato sauce. The sandwiches were good. The wasps outside are awful, there are no traps , so they feast on your lunch. For the above we paid $76 and change which was a total rip off. We will never visit there again and also make sure our friends know about this
Great service, and fantastic baking! Their hazelnut croissant is absolutely the best! I also really enjoyed the salad and mocha.
Nice location. also has kids corner me and my wife can enjoy some quiet time while keeping my LO occupied. Guinness and Bailey's cake and brownie taste good

Great coffee, but takes forever. Don't come here before work, because you will be late after waiting 20 minuted for your coffee. They put up a sign warning you that their "coffee is worth the wait", but it's a load of BS. They need to improve the operations management.
Super cute bakery a block off the main strip in Fort Langley (which means parking is slightly easier!). Plenty of baked goods and treats to enjoy. It’s not currently listed on the menu, but they do carry oat milk for drinks now. Head past the washrooms to find more seating and a view of the kitchen. Note, there is no public WiFi available here.
Loved the bacon croissant! Coffee is very nice as well.
taste so good
Delicious croissants! Friendly staff and a cappuccino machine if you want to have a coffee and a pastry. Well worth the trip!
This is our favourite eatery to visit in Fort Langley. Top quality baked pastries and other sweet goods - if you get there early enough! They have the most amazing croissants we’ve ever had outside of Paris France. The restaurant service is quite informal with a bit of chaos thrown in as people are lined up to order baked goods and ordering coffee drinks and food for sit down service. Very good food and drinks!
Horrible service. It took them 25 minutes to make a blt and gave me major attitude when I picked it up from the counter. There was no line up, no heavy traffic, 5 people ordered food after me and all recieved their orders while I was still waiting. Then when I tried to speak to the girl behind the counter about it she just laughed at me. Will definitely NOT be going back and I will be telling my friends and family about my experience. $16 for a 25-minute blt. Ridiculous!
I come here every month or two for a croissant or coffee date. I’ve tried a lot of croissants since I’m a pastry chef myself and these are the best ones I can find locally. I like the bacon & Swiss but sometimes the bacon inside is undercooked. I also wish there was an almond croissant every now and then because I wasn’t a fan of the hazelnut one. Please consider a seasonal croissant that changes, every few months even!
They have everything I love , all the good stuff! Oh the girl who took our order was also very cute with an amazing makeup :)
First visit today but will not be returning. Delicious brunch, however the tables outside are wobbly and rickety making it difficult to cut food especially with ineffective disposable utensils. I asked for water at the counter and was NOT told to get it myself. Reasonably, I expected to be provided water at my table but when staff came to serve the food, I was told to go inside and get it myself. Not only that, they forgot my viennoiserie, which was dry and bland.
We love this coffee shop. We live in the area and frequesnt our coffee shops. This is hands down our favorite. The food is excellent and coffee is our amazing. Great atmosphere, always clean. The only negative we have experienced is the sometimes lengthy line ups.
Great little bakery and cafe. Food is always good, staff super friendly. Would be nice if they worked a little harder on their gluten free offerings.
Gorgeous place with absolutely delicious croissants and pastries! I need to come back for their pizza. It looks delicious.
Live it there. So fresh and good. Everything they touch is so tasteful. Love the environment. Such a beautiful place in a beautiful Township.
Great little cafe! Had the Apple crumble cheesecake and it was to die for! A great little spot with lovely seating outside available for a quick bite to eat on a lovely day in Fort Langley!
Horrible customer service. This place doesn't want families with little kids as their customers. And I'm not talking about the way you run the business, but how you treat your customers. Turning your back to a customer, while he is commentting on your service and going away...... That's pretty rude. My point is not couple extra dollars that you charged, but the way you choose to do it keeping half of my order "hostsge" and your reaction I've described above. We'll never visit again
Excellent. Loved the food and the atmosphere. Were out of beer. Otherwise 5 stars. Definately recommended if you're in the area.
I get a cinnamon bun every Monday (you know... For quality control) and I can assure you that this place is the real deal. A European style bakery with in and outdoor seating, great coffee (Republica) & beer, cider and wine. Always a favorite stop for us
Good place
very great atmosphere and very tasty food
Ordered black Smith sandwich and it was very good. But ordering over phone was a bit disorder. the person behind phone were not so well trained. She asked her manage every order and she did not give u any correct answer. When we arrived to pick ours, it was a missing order.
Always fresh bakery nice variety of pastries. They have a large assortment of coffee beverages and also do a really great looking pizza which I have yet to try.
Consistently astounding pastries and specialties available. Enjoyed the Fort Trail Bar made in house. Full of oats, nuts, peanut butter and cranberries. Ordered an oat milk dirty chai and it was delicious! The cafe is always clean and has a good energy.
Consistently astounding pastries and specialties available. Enjoyed the Fort Trail Bar made in house. Full of oats, nuts, peanut butter and cranberries. …
Cute place to grab a coffee. Wish I could have tried the pastries but I'm on a diet, they looked and smelled delicious
A very nice selection of cooked and baked food. We had the Blacksmith Benny, very tasty. Our son had pizza. The thin crust was great. Also had chocolate and sponge cakes. We would go back for both. It was lunch when we went and they were busy. This was no challenge though as there was lots of room inside and out and we got our order in a timely manner. Our first but not the last time there. We will be back.
I recently enjoyed a wonderful breakfast here with a large group of friends. We ordered a mixture of eggs benny, breakfast sandwiches, croissants stuffed with bacon and cheese, chocolate croissants, etc. and everyone enjoyed a holiday coffee. The food was delicious and the wait time was very reasonable, despite how busy it was. A large table in the center of the room allows for family style seating if the smaller tables are full. The staff are friendly and welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. I returned two weeks later with another friend for coffee and croissants and look forward to my next visit!
Lovely latte and the egg salad croissant was Deelish!!
Blacksmith Benny are awesome!
Nice staff, nice vibes, and good food/drinks. Try their London Fog!
It's a nice place in Fort Langley, the coffee isn't winning awards but it's definitely better than Starbucks. Very nice sweets but for some reason they served savory croissant cold. The merengue was the best we've had on a long time though. Friendly staff and lots of seating area, nice cozy atmosphere.
Good food, coffee, and atmosphere. A funky spot and near the Fort.
Legitimately wonderful baking, and now that they're serving the perfect pizza, I'm here even more. The carbonara pizza is my favourite. A cheeky, cheap lunch option is the sausage roll - I'll sometimes do this if I'm on the run. They also have very good shortbread, which coming from a Scotsman, is saying a lot. The only thing keeping me from coming more often is the lack of WiFi. Lindsay from the team also says, “Stopping at Blacksmith Bakery for a truly delicious coffee and house made treat is my very favourite way to start the day. The staff are friendly, the service is great, and the coffee and eats are out of this world. Cannot say enough good things about this wonderful place.” It’s her picture!
Very tasteful food but when I asked for water they told me that they were busy to serve me. Unacceptable!!!
Very cute little coffee shop and bakery. Delicious and reasonably priced food and drinks, with creative and amusing decor. Will definitely come back when I'm in the area!
Great coffee, but the customer service needs a serious revamp. cashier was nice, and took our orders. coffee came out quickly. but i had also ordered the breakfast avocado toast. after waiting 30 minutes for my breakfast, i finally went and asked the guy making the coffee if the food was coming, his response "that's not my department". as it was obvious he wasn't going to give me any update on my food i went and sat down and kept glancing back to see if there was any update or food coming. A few minutes later he finally brought me my food and felt the need to add a snide remark "I brought it for you so you would stop staring". excuse me? how dare I actually want the food i had paid so much for. how dare i actually want to eat the food before my coffee is empty/cold. how dare i have actually wanted some sort of update as to why my food took more than half an hour to come out. The food was fantastic but sadly the service problems mean I will never return.
Croissants from what I could imagine are made like in France hundreds of layers
Blacksmiths is a wonderful gem of Fort Langley. I've been coming to the Bakery for just over two years, using it as an impromptu meeting place, amongst various other things. The staff are generally helpful and really friendly. Since implementing their new Pizza Menu and additional seating, Blacksmith has cemented itself in Fort Langley as a must go when visiting.
Probably the very best Café/Bakery in one of the most charming location in the Fraser Valley! The best for sure in Fort Langley! They baked delicacies are absolutely delicious! Excellent coffee and very good choice of excellent teas! Exceptional friendly staff service and an abundance of seating indoors and out! Did I mentioned Fantastic location!
Stopped here for tea/coffee with a friend. Really cute cafe with a nice selection of pastries (some I haven't seen since living in France). I had the peppermint tea, which was average, and the kouign amann. The kouign amann was so delicious and I felt priced fairly at $4. I will definitely be back for more.
Amazing croissant!!! The place is beautiful, loved the vibe! Customer service is also awesome, Shae (I think that’s her name) goes above and beyond! I’ll be back for sure
Fantastic pastries, competent coffee. More expensive than about anywhere else, but the environment is usually worthwhile. Definitely somewhere to talk with a pal, not a place to read or study.
Mediocre food at inflated prices. Meh.
Great lil spot in Fort Langley to have a delicious tasting coffee and fast friendly service with a smile. Caution Latees are delicious and I can only do half a shot of expresso in my lattes because they just have that extra kick????
Nice place for a good coffee and delicious sweets and desserts. Nice seating and location. Really enjoy this place. Always get coffee when ever we visit Fort Langley.
My family and I live in Langley and we drove out to have breakfast here for the second time and it didn't disappoint. Wonderfully tasty pastries and breakfast/lunch suggestions as well as caffeine selections. Well Done Team. Highly recommend. I heard a new location might be coming to 200th Street??? hope so
Good food. The atmosphere is joyful and peaceful.
Their desserts are worth the line up! Always. Am missing the Viennese lemon donuts though, it's been too long!
Not enough flavor in the Latte, the pour is excellent but taste is a little flat. Pastries are excellent. Slow front line. Nice Decor. A good first time visit for sure.
Absolutely amazing spot in Fort Langley and a must visit. We had the regular crossaints and a turkey sandwich + two hot chocolates on a cold day in the area. The crossaints are very good and the turkey sandwich was one of the best we've had in a long time and everything was so fresh. Be sure to give yourself some good time to wait as it can get busy and you won't get your food right away but its worth the wait.
Amazing homey place serving up incredible pastries, dishes and history. The staff are hilarious and so attentive. I can't wait to go back!!
Ridiculous!
This is my second Blacksmith experience. Let me start by saying I love the atmosphere. It’s very community-oriented with long shared tables and couches. I like that it’s not clinical; it looks lived in. Not an ideal place for studying though, what with all the hustle and bustle and the lively music, but a cool place for casual reading. Onto the food, it all looks beautiful. No arguments there. I had a berry tart that tasted of the very essence of summer. I also had a berry lemonade which produced quite the puckered reaction. Both were miles ahead of the disappointing London Fog I had during my first visit. I’ll definitely come back, but it’s not my favorite watering hole in Fort Langley.
Cutest spot in Fort Langley. My babe had an adorable dino cookie on a necklace. There is a nice kid-friendly area in the back with books and and a play kitchen. Can't wait to try more goodies!
Not bad, super busy but mostly on the coffee side which I don’t really do, what actually attracted us was the baking which looked amazing and tasted just as good as it looked, not badly priced and the quality was excellent, good variety with obviously high quality ingredients, the place is spacious and clean and despite the Covid restrictions service was fast and efficient, worth checking out but be patient as the place gets very busy.
Fresh, tasty baking. I always enjoy a visit when I’m in the area.
Bought coffee based drinks and a croissant which were relatively good, however, the staff member who made the drinks was extremely rude. Made the experience very off putting.
Excellent food! Family friendly too!
Great croissants and other pastries! Good coffee and a frequent stop for bicyclists to pause for a brief refuel! Always friendly and I have brought my kids here a few times and it’s always a great experience! Try the Hazelnut croissant - you shall not be disappointed!
Visit often on bike, in car, dog walking and enjoy making Blacksmith Bakery the goal! Great coffee, yummy snacks, awesome artisan pizzas.
For me - best pastry in the lower mainland, If you are looking for them European style. Huge plus that the shop opens early in the morning. Service has always been slow. But if at the time when the place was first open it was due to trying hard to deliver best quality and pay attention to details, now - it is just slow. Often unfriendly and with an attitude. Sad to watch it happening to a small, family business.
Really enjoyed the Blacksmith Bakery. The staff was friendly and helpful as well as professional. The quiche was light with a flaky crust. After being there for several hours longer than expected. I ordered a mini torte with raspberries and strawberries and a Margarita pizza. The bakery just introduced a new menu. I will definitely be going back there in the future when visiting Fort Langley.
Amazing coffee! Keep up the good work
Great service, tasty baked goods
Overpriced garbage food. The avocado toast had NO flavour. I love eggs and avocado and I couldn't eat it. What a waste of money
No posted sign limiting customers. Rude service????
Had high hopes for this bakery but it was a disaster. From getting wrong order, leaving items on pizza that we specifically asked to be taken out and not having two of the three things we ordered. Finally we ordered pastries and paid for them , when we got home they had left off one of the pastries but surprise charged us for it. Overall not a good experience. Fortunately we do not live nearby so we do not have to go past this establishment again. There are lots of other places in Fort Langley I suggest you give one of the others a try
The croissant bread pudding was very delicious. I would love to see more baked options and breads, this is more of a bistro selection. When I visited the bathroom was very dirty.
Fantastic coffee shop! Certainly the best in Fort Langley! The pastries are fresh each day, and the espresso is A+.
Popped in for a snack super friendly staff lots of choices good food excellent customer service
It is a cozy place, but only in the back seating area. Huge line and wait times. I had grilled cheese which was amazing, but also had the Sparky bites that my wife and I both didn’t like. The prices are reasonable and it is cool how eco conscious they are even if that means eating with a wooden fork. It was an interesting experience and I definitely would encourage people to try it out on a less busy day and sit in the back overlooking the kitchen.
The Guinness baileys cake is one of the best desserts I’ve ever had!
Delicious baked goods and pastries - worth every penny! Ordered a Kouign Amann which is one of their best sellers and I can see why - crispy on the outside for texture and soft on the inside. Nothing too special about the coffee but I would come back just for the pastries.
I usually come here to meet friends (pre covid) and to grab a snack after taking my dog for a walk. I've had great memories sharing food and laughter in this place. I loved Happy Hour, the selection in pastries and the ambiance is good, and the drinks are decent. I was so excited to pick up my preorder today and try the Valentine special Ruby Passionfruit Croissant, braving the 30 minute drive in the snow. I decided to order a hot chocolate with oat milk for the drive home. When my order was up, it ended up being hot chocolate with almond milk. I politely said "I asked for oat," and the barista replied "Well it said almond." I understand it could be a simple error in entering the order or miscommunication, what I got instead was not an acknowledgment of either, but a lot of attitude in the delivery of that statement. There was no effort to ask the staff who put in the order to clarify, just lots of attitude in saying "Well it said almond," seemingly implying that I was wrong. The barista then said after "well I could remake it for you..." but again, the manner of how this was spoken seems like an afterthought, like I was inconveniencing her because according to me, the order was wrong. Which it was. I hate wasting food/drink. Almond was acceptable, though after paying almost $7 after tip and taxes, I would have wanted what I asked for. And honestly, I did not want to waste any more of my time as I had a snowy drive home, so I said "It's fine" then left. This is very disheartening and greatly upsetting, after being an avid supporter of local businesses and patron of this place over the past several years. I put in all that effort driving in the snow and was excited to come by today, but ended up having an incredibly disappointing experience, because it seemed like the barista couldn't be bothered to listen to me, communicate and provide customer service that doesnt involve attitude.
We come here after dog walks and get the pain au chocolat and ham and Swiss croissants. They are so good that I can't bring myself to try anything new!
Long line sometimes but they go fast! Great coffee and pastry options which are fresh and delicious. Very busy today it seemed maybe because of the holiday weekend but the staff seemed happy and the manager was running around while working and making both staff and customers laugh and keeping the line moving
I had a delicious breakfast croissant. And my oat milk latte hit the spot.
First time going to this place. The roasted veggie benedict was easily the worst eggs benedict I have ever had. The muffin was stale and untoasted. The vegetables were cold and flavorless. The hollandaise smelled and tasted strongly of vinegar. The hashbrowns/potatoes had been cooked maybe a few hours beforehand and they hadn't bothered to reheat them. The place encourages you to tip before you've received any food or service, so perhaps they served me bad food on purpose because I didn't tip up front? Maybe their baking is good because the place was quite busy. Edit: In response to the owner below: Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, you have me mistaken with somebody else. Nobody offered me an apology or a replacement.
The BEST bread pudding. Good thing parking is difficult or we would be regulars!
Would eat the ham and Swiss croissant everyday if I could!
Delicious deserts and coffee- you cant go wrong but they are a bit pricey. Fun atmosphere. Service can be hit or miss, 2 of 3 visits my order was taken then forgotten about. 20+ minutes later after asking them about my coffees they realized the ticket had not printed; they added the ticket to the END of the list and didn't offer apologies for the mistake. The desserts are worth going back for.
I've just had the best shrimp sandwich ever. I had it on a perfect croissant and the dressing was delight.
For last 3 years my wife has been the biggest fan of your clafoutis. Today I drove half an hour to get them for her, as a surprise, brought them home and it had very dry taste and had smell and flavour of a fridge. Very disappointed. Drove back to let staff, at your store, know that this is unacceptable and to replace with fresh ones. They did, after some convincing, however what I got a as fresh batch was just as dry with already familiar flavour of your fridge. If you guys charge top dollar for your pastries, your customers have right to expect top quality every time.
Had a bacon and cheese croissant and a latte. Latte was great, croissant was amazing. All the stuff in the bakery looked amazing.
Good selection of cakes and pastries. And savory food and fresh pizza.
Quick and helpful service. I was able to get in and out (with a baby and a 2-year-old) within 5 minutes. Crossants and desserts were delicious!
Serving the best latte in Fort Langley, this cafe/bakery serves expertly crafted espresso beverages and beautiful and tasty pastries, along with a full lunch menu including salads, sandwiches and pizza. Very popular, especially on the weekends. There is a little kids area in the back, as well as high chairs. The only thing I'd change is the noisiness - the space has a lot of hard finishes and the noise level tends to get a bit too high for my liking. Otherwise an excellent bakery-cafe and a must try in Fort Langley!
This place is wonderful. I love the atmosphere and the staff were so friendly. I got a medium drip coffee and a bacon cheddar croissant. The croissant was so good! I had to resist the urge to order a second! Awesome place, will definitely come here again.
I went to this place based on the Google reviews and -- oh boy -- was I ever disappointed. Maybe it's all about the baking; but if it all about the baking just do the baking. The breakfast was by far the worst I've had in years. Let's break this down by category. The food: 0/10. Do you like cold potatoes with old "roasted" veges on a stale English muffin with a Sparks egg and Benedict sauce out of a can? If you answered yes; this indeed is the 5/5 place for you. This is the bottom of the list Benedict for me personally. If you aren't even going to try then don't sell it -- stick to what you are good at because it isn't this. I don't really feel like eating your cold leftovers. The drinks: 4/10. A coffee somewhere between Tim Horton's and 7-11. Drinkable but not enjoyable. The service: 2/10. If you are going to offer restaurant dishes offer restaurant service. It makes it easier for everyone involved. Dirty tables don't really add up to the charm in my books; I have no problems cleaning up after myself -- but -- don't let me deal with someone else's mess. The atmosphere: 7/10. Best part of the experience. Seems like a decent place with a reasonably thought out decor. If you bring your kids you'll have books to read. A nice touch. Would be a clean, rustic feel if it was actually kept clean. There you have it. I wouldn't go back -- unless someone pointed out to me the exact thing that makes this place a hidden jewel. Then I might reconsider. Maybe the baking is actually that amazing. But. If that is what you are good at focus on it -- because -- if you can bake, you certainly can't cook worth a lousy nickel.
Best croissants on planet. Mocha and I will miss the atmosphere and staff. Thanks for all the love! Judi and Mocha
Shared 2 sweets with a glass of wine while we relaxed on sofas in the cafe. It was a great start to the stroll through Fort Langley.
Absolutely delicious!! Blacksmith benedict was sooo good, prosciutto and asparagus with perfect lemony hollandaise...and The shrimp sandwich was perfect too...perfect brunch!!
Came here Thursday at 4:45. Told the lady I'm excited for the Benny. She says yes we have it. Only to be told they're done cooking for the day. Ok fine. Came back Saturday waited in line for 10 min with my Grandmother, order our food only to be told at the end that they don't take cash! No sign on the window nothing. At least have the decentcy to have a frickin sign so people don't wait in your line. Every other place in Ft.Langley takes cash. What makes you so special?
The cake taste so bad , and really disappointed!
Beautiful fresh baked goods and great service here
Love Blacksmith. My favourites so far, blacksmith benny (truffle hollandaise is incredible), chorizo hash, carbonara pizza, BLTA, sausage rolls, GF blueberry scone, apple caramel crumble cheesecake, chocolate nemesis, berry parfait, all the lattes and americano mistos! ????????????
Great place for pastries and coffee but the service is not well focused as the young staff do not seem to approach their duties with a caring or efficient approach to the customer. Better staff training on these points would go a long way to having a loyal return clientele.
Slow service this am. I know that a latte takes time but 10 mins with one drink ahead of me is too long. Usually much quicker. Disappointing.
Amazing eggs Benedict, super chorizo hash, great grilled cheese and a croissant bread pudding to die for. Plus the young man clearing the tables was very polite.
Staff were poorly trained, seating was very cramped with poor use of space. Had to walk the entire place looking for a fork and then ask the kitchen staff for one. Ordered cider off the menu which was listed at $6 and for whatever reason they charged us $15 for a large bottle, which was nowhere on the menu. After mentioning this to the owner and explaining I didn't think it was legal to sell large resealable bottles for people to leave the premise with, he said it was fine. Even though there's a sign on the door saying no alcohol beyond this point. Don't worry, the people of Fort Langley won't judge you for wandering around with half a bottle of cider.
EDIT: Stephan has responded to my email and is kindly sorting out the issue with me! I really appreciate the time and attention given to resolve this! One of the reasons I went out to Fort Langley today was to try Blacksmith Bakery. I ordered 2 butter croissants, 1 pain au chocolat, 1 bacon and cheddar croissant, and 2 Kouign Amanns. However, the order I received was completely wrong and wasn't even the right amount of pastries that I ordered. It is very disappointing as I really wanted to try the butter croissant and there were none in my box of pastries. I would recommend double checking to make sure you receive the right pastries. I have sadly now paid for pastries that I never received.
The staff were very friendly and the americano misto was great! The Avocado toast that I got to-go was disappointing. The plastic fork broke as I tried to cut the toast and the Avocado spread was very bland with no flavor and to top it off it was loaded with plain leaves of spinach. I have definitely made better Avocado toast at home haha.
Excellent food and really tasty London Fogs!
Good food and coffee choices here but very busy be patient.
Great staff, good service great food
Just tried their hot chocolate which was really good, the barista took her time to ensure it was done right and did not rush it. I will return to try out the food. It’s a bit small with just a few tables but was quite busy. They also have tables outdoors with heat lamps. Every time we walk by this place there is always a line up.
Great Service! Best Iced Latte I've had in recent memory... and the Guiness Chocolate Cake with Bailey's Frosting is indescribably delicious!
One of my favorite spots in Fort Langley. By far the best croissant in town.
Wonderful upscale bakery. Is it expensive? Sure, but the quality is tops and the choices are abundant. It is also a great place for really high quality pizza. They should go out out of their way to let people know how good it is. The bakery features many seasonal goods so there is a decent chance there will be something new to try every time you go. Highly recommend the pizza, brownies and at Christmas, the Stollen.
I've experienced the shrimp sandwich. It was so soooo yummy. I love it. Especially, I love your friendly staffs :) They are so nice and give me confidence. Thank you. Keep staying in Fort Langley. ????
There is good reason this place is always busy. Great selection of fresh pastries, good coffee, breakfast and lunch. Had the chorizo hash, very tasty. Definitely will be back..
I love the Guiness and Bailys chocolate cake!! 5 stars for the cake. Pure happiness!!! Had the Pizza too. Loved that they could do half and half. My pizza was so good I ate the whole thing!
Very cute coffee/bakery shop in Fort Langley. It serves wonderful coffee and lattes. In house fresh pastries are a must try, especially the lemon tart! They serve up sandwiches as well. The elk salami was tasty, and would go back for this specialty. Only down side: hard to find a place to sit because it is so busy! They have seating outside, which is perfect on a cold rainy day when you have a warm drink in hand :) Highly recommended!
Love everything about them.
Drinks were ok dissapointed that pizza was.the only thing available to eat where there.was no signs up to state this left Hungary probably will not return
The pain au chocolat was delicious. The cheddar bacon croissant was way too oily.
Food was very nice but too many mosquitoes...
Comfortable ambiance and great coffee. The food looks like of high quality. A bit expensive.
Simple and beautiful interior. The coffee and croissant were delicious
Great stop off the main drag. Outside seating is great.
Great croissants! The place is busy at weekends, so expect to have a lineup.
The staff here is so friendly. A friend and I overstayed past their closing time by mistake and they didn't bother us or got angry at us. We felt bad for not knowing the closing time but the chefs were very understanding and friendly.
Wow. Best piece of cake I had in my life. So happy to have this place found. Will return 100%
We ordered a pizza and 20 mins. later had to reorder the pizza because they hadn't made it. Was supposed to be a quick treat but turned into 40 mins waiting for mediocre pizza. Was disappointed because their bacon/cheese and ham/cheese croissants are to die for! Will keep this bakery as our great treat location not for pizza.
Excellent croissants. Very pleasant ambience. Attentive serving staff.
The best chai tea latte I've ever had, hands down. Thank you!
While the Earl Grey tea they sell is very good, the spinach salad left much to be desired. For $15, I expected something with more flavour. It was fine but I wouldn’t order it again.
The very best cousouts.
My new favorite spot to relax and enjoy great food! I love the Avocado Toast!
Always busy. Always good food.
This is such a gem! Best bakery I have been to since I was a kid. Everything they make is amazing. Highly recommend this place!
Great selections and lovely coffee
Been going for a few years, but the last 3 times have been disappointing. Service is slow and the staff seem oblivious and indifferent to the concept of a line up and serving people in consecutive order. So if you are in a hurry, just push to the front and you will be served right away. I was told today they don't have a system. Odd, isn't it. 3 strikes you're out. Fort Langley has a few excellent bakery / coffee houses.
Great coffee. Open air atmosphere help to balance indoor ambience . Staff is 5☆
Loooove the lemonade! Tastes just like homemade and so refreshing on a hot day! Will definitely be back for more!
To be fair I have been here twice. The first time the service was pretty good and the food was yummy. This time I brought my son for a treat and felt the service was cold and when I asked for a piece of carrot cake with less icing (which was about $6.50) it seemed like the server thought was an inappropriate request. My son did not enjoy the cake. Then my boy's hot chocolate came and it tasted like whole milk with very little chocolate. Disappointing for my Father/son connection time. When I took my other child out for a date I went elsewhere...The espresso was good though.
Amazing croissants, amazing triple chocolate mousse cake! Love the decor and location!
I didn't want to leave a star, but couldn't leave a review if I didn't. Customer service was rude, my hot chocolate tasted like coffee, when returned, the person behind the counter argued that it wasn't coffee, and turned her back on us. And didn't even offer a replacement, OR a refund. Don't waste your money here Message to owner: I see by previous reviews that you didn't like, you flag them as fake. I assure you, we were there and we were treated very rudely...
The food and coffee have been consistently delicious. Staff have always been friendly and professional. I LOVE that they have an area for kids! As a mother of two, it's such a treat to find a place with awesome drinks, food, staff, and atmosphere that's kid-friendly. The mix of people that come to Blacksmith is great too; Young families, bike riders, professionals, and everyone in between seem to frequent this place. Keep up the good work, Blacksmith bakery!
Their croissants are the best! The cakes were okay, I tried the carrot which was better than the chocolate one I tried. We have had brunch there a few times, the eggs benny was better than their chorizo hash.
The food and drinks are excellent. However, there is a lack of organization behind the counter leads to a long slow line. Several people walked out in a short period of time after waiting in a non moving line.
Cute little cafe and bakery
Best cappuccino and croissants! Excellent bakery. Delicious pizzas and sandwiches. Love the breakfasts. Very friendly staff.
The turkey handheld is my favorite sandwich. Nice and garlicy.
Absolutely a great spot for a coffee and snack. With friendly staff and good food it's truly a gem.
A cute cafe and bakery we visit everytime we go to Fort Langley! This time we had the earl grey eclair (4/5 stars) and bread pudding (3/5 stars)
They have a great selection of baked times, breakfast and lunch food. The coffee bar is average. Everything foodwise is delicious.
Manager has been responding to various reviews citing they are fake. I was in the store when my wife Mary Blahitka was rudely told to leave the store due to concerns about too many people being inside. We were properly social distancing and, at the time of our visit, there was no signage stating an occupancy limit. We accept the manager's request to leave the store but it was said in a curt tone. Our reviews are not fake and for the manager to dismiss our concerns as fake further identifies that there is an issue with management here that needs to be addressed.

Fantastic baking, really good espresso based drinks. Tasty sandwiches.
The guy who makes the coffee was a master barista and made a killer americano. Super nice guy too. The baked good were OUTSTANDING! The best almond croissant I've ever had. The breakfast was pretty good too but DONT get the salad with your meal. The potatoes are so good and was pretty choked that I didn't order them. Anything you get will knock your socks of guaranteed! Lovely service too from the young ladies behind the counter. They were very busy and they kept their cool even though we ordered alot of food.
The Blacksmith is a regular spot for my wife and I. The food and baking are simply amazing. The croissants in particular are to die for. Although the line can be large at times, I've never failed to find a table to sit at whether it be outside or in. If you're in fort Langley, the Blacksmith is definitely a must.
Matcha lattes taste like fish but the sandwiches are delicious
I've been going to this bakery for Many years now whenever I am in Fort Langley and this past year it's definitely gone down hill. The specialty coffee is never hot enough, only luke warm and always have to ask for it to be made again and ordered a calzone yesterday and when I got it the outside had sugar on it like it had been cut on a pastry board that hadn't been cleaned first! Not impressed at all anymore and it used to be my absolute favorite bakery!
