Great atmosphere but a little expensive. Was looking forward to the Vegan cashew cheese sandwich but menu has changed and not updated on the website. That sandwich has been replaced by a smashed chickpea sandwich which wasn't as satisfying as I hoped.

The only downside is how busy this place is, but that's a symptom of it being a great little bakery. They offer breakfast, lunch and all the usual bakery goods. Coffee is okay as well. Definitely recommend of you're I'm the area looking for a snack or coffee break.

Wow - I wish I knew about this place years ago. It's so good! Starbucks and Coffee Culture have nothing on it. The made daily breads and food is fantastic, as are the made to order sandwiches. Over from the UK on holiday, we stopped by a couple of times. Breakfast coffee and a croissant was excellent. A lunchtime sandwich with a salad side was good but a bit pricey and not that imaginative. Still a good place to go so give it a try. It's much better than other 'coffee and a bite' places.

Not sure what happened to this place but it's painfully mismanaged. The bread still tastes great most of the time I come when they open there is hardly anything ready. Most recently they don't even have any bread baked making my whole trip there pointless. Not sure what the point of a bakery opening at 8:30am is if they don't have any bread to sell until 10:00am. When asked about it I get no response and the expectation is that I can just drive across town again an hour later when bread might be ready. Very strange way to run a bakery.

I love the bread at this bakery. I felt strongly about supporting them and started on line ordering since the first lockdown. At first it was great, however, I have been really frustrated during the last few months. Twice in a row my order was wrong. One of the times I had to go to another customer's home who had part of my order. I ended up with extra bread with their compliments but I did not get one of the breads that I ordered. While I appreciated the extra bread, it was too much for me and I gave it away to my neighbours. I can only eat certain breads and cannot eat any with seeds. After 2 orders in a row were wrong, I stopped ordering for a while. Then I decided to give it a go again. Guess what, my new order was missing my 3 loaves of bread which was the primary reason that I order from here. The person who answered the phone was very nice but told me that my missing bread was not on the truck and that I could come and pick up 2 loaves. I was quite upset because this was now 3 times in a ROW that my order was incomplete. Upon my insistence she agreed to deliver my 3 loaves as ordered the next day. I have mostly been house bound this winter due to health problems, that is the reason that I wanted delivery. I cannot understand why it is so difficult for them to get the delivery orders correct. I love most of their baked goods that I have tried, my grandkids especially love their brownies but I am not a fan of their fruit scones. I ordered them last time but will not again, they were way too heavy. In my opinion scones should have a much lighter texture.

I love their food and the locally sourced ingredients that go into it. I have to admit that I dont like their tip jar and find it somewhat offensive. Everywhere I go now there are signs for tipping. The tip jar at Homesteads though states," every time you dont tip,little Gabe crys". I'm in a very difficult financial situation right now and sitting down to eat lunch feeling guilty that you cant share your money really sucks and runs the experience.

I went last week to check out this bakery and had a giant delicious brownie. I went back today and the brownie was cut down to a third of the size? Also, no sandwiches available. If you want to keep customers in this type of local business, you have to keep quality high, have enough supply to last the day, and keep those famous brownies big! Not impressed!

Lovely!! After trying the grilled sourdough at Urban Dish, I had to check it out. The kids liked their pastries and we all enjoyed the sourdough. By next week they should be moved into their new location. The current shop is on Owen, not far from the library. Not inexpensive but very nice!!

Went to this place after seeing it on Instagram as it sounded interesting and the food looked delicious. I had a sandwich - the muffaletta, and definitely recommend trying them out. I got some sandwiches for other people and they gave rave reviews as well. Although I wasn't a huge fan of the salad that came with it, I am excited to go back and explore the preserves which they make. 5 stars for the quality and kindness that seems to completely surround this business and the people there, the deliciousness was a welcomed bonus!

Saw this bakery on Food Network’s Project Bakeover and wanted to check out the renovations and baked goods. The interior was very cute and spacious and the patio was welcoming. Lots of staff who were all polite and helpful. There were many local/specialty grocery items available to purchase such as sap water, honey, and frozen meals. We tried the jalapeño cheddar loaf - it was so fresh and delicious, highly recommend. We also had a cinnamon bun muffin and BLTs to go. The thick cut bacon and buns were amazing. Great spot to grab lunch and freshly baked items.

I have only recently moved to Barrie from Toronto, but my husband and I wanted to try out some of the places downtown, and found this lovely bakery. We bought their cheddar and jalapeno loaf as well as some of their pastries and coffees from Epic North. Everything was amazing! The bread is some of the best I have ever had. We got their garlic potato loaf the following week, and it was just as tasty! They also offer bread making courses which I am hoping to attend this summer. The atmosphere was lovely, it felt very relaxed and a place I imagine we'll spend many weekends. Can't wait to return!

We have loved this place since it has opened. Always an amazing product when you go to homestead. Yes it is a bit more than a grocery store however the quality of the product you get from this place is well worth the extra money. This Easter we were disappointed when our order could not be found. We had pre-ordered it online. They had accidentally given our order to someone else. We were refunded right away and they were nice enough to try and replace some of the products regardless of the refund. Thankfully the people that had our order were honest people and brought it back. We were called and my husband went back to pick up our order which we got in its entirety and they did not even charge us. The customer service of this place matches the quality of their product. When we go in next it will be a much larger order with a big tip! This is why you support local businesses not just during a pandemic but at any time. Customers for life!

Beautiful, bright, clean and fully accessible bakery with the best croissants in town. My son calls it "the fancy bakery" and it is our favorite place downtown. Great coffee, really nice staff and lots of delicious things to tempt us. In the summer we take everything to go and have a picnic in heritage park. In the winter we stop in to warm up with incredible hot chocolate after a walk along the waterfront.

I also find it to be a bit expensive. I couldn't afford to go there alot but if that is not an issue then its worth trying.

Great coffee and love that they have a vegan sandwich option. My only complaint is their hours. They close very early, at 4:30 pm during the week and are closed on Sundays. There have been numerous times where I have been downtown and would have liked to stop in but they have been closed.

Love, love, love the bread, pastries and coffee at Homestead. Definitely recommend. Lately I’ve noticed the area you wait to take drinks to go is very hectic, as there are tables in the way and people don’t know where to stand to wait. When it’s busy the line for drink pickup and line for cash often overlap. I’d also love if the drink bar was more organized, during my past two visits there was a mixup where one drink was missed, then both entirely. Often it’s hard to hear if your drink is up, and it’s so busy that the people making the drinks are just trying to keep up (I honestly feel for them). I know the layout has changed a bit over the past few months so maybe it’s still a bit of a work in progress. All that aside, this is such a great spot and I’m glad we have it in the community.

Ok so something is wrong with this trip advisor listing because this every locals go to spot in Barrie for lunch and bread. If you are looking for a quick lunch or a chill spot to brunch out on Saturday (unfortunately it’s closed on Sundays) I would totally recommend this spot. Must try.

If I'm paying that much, I expect good vegan cheese, maybe some smokey mushroom bacon, pesto? I dunno, something as appealing as the other options, not a second thought. I would love to come here for breakfast, but I can't, as they don't offer even a vegan scone or muffin. It's a shame. Also, closed on Sunday. ....

The bread is amazing to buy by the loaf. However, I have had coffee and a scone in my two visits in the new location. Each time the scone is almost inedible. They seem undercooked (doughy) as well as dry. I returned one once but the second was not much better. The last visit I had a latte and the server said he made the best. It too was awful. I was too embarrassed to let the server down by returning it.

Love this place! It is a regular stop for me. You can get a great sandwich and salad. A generous amount of indoor seating is available and overlooks Meridian place. Enjoy a handcrafted drink and a baked treat in the casual space surrounded by artwork and exposed brick and upbeat music. I especially love the morning buns, but you cannot go wrong with any item. Hope you stop by soon!

Best sandwiches EVER! We always order the Harvest and the BLT and share. So good. Often bring friends and family and everyone agrees...best sandwich ever. Staff is great, happy and friendly. Homestead is part of our Saturday brunch routine.

We recently moved to Barrie and were told about this place and have now been here a few times on a Saturday and just love it! The food, coffee, bread, music, people and atmosphere are all amazing. It is busy and you will likely have to wait but definitely worth it. This is a great family place as well.. my 2 year old loves it

I just paid $16.00 for a tiny sandwich and wilted salad. It was take away so I wasn't aware until I opened it up at my office, otherwise I would have asked for my money back. And I found one cranraisin..... Great.

Baker’s Asleep! On each occasion during the last couple of months when I go to Homestead in the morning, they NEVER have their bread ready!! Yesterday I was there at 930 hoping to get bread for the weekend and half of the selection wasn’t available yet!!! REALLY Baker’s how do you expect to run a business at that speed?!?! Additionally, worth mentioning mid summer during the farmer's market which opens at 8 the same issue happens. They don’t have all products ready on time. People are not going to wait around or even bother come back!!! It’s time to get your baker’s baking earlier!!!!

Wow this is an endless factory creating some of the most delicious bread and pastries you can get it in Barrie. Its truly a small local business, the owner has no problem jumping on the till cashing people out, i really respect a business owner that is humble enough to do even the basic simple tasks. Sourdough for the win!
