I placed an order for a birthday cake, a chocolate mousse birthday cake. As I went to pick it up, I noticed the icing on the cake was white and not chocolate and I assumed the cake was probably chocolate on the inside. After I get home and I prepare the cake for the surprise, as we cut into the cake I realize it’s not chocolate at all. So I called back Manna the next day to inquire about what cake I got. As I’m on the phone talking to their employee, asking them what do your chocolate mousse cakes look like, the woman who I was speaking to about the cake, Kelli, who also happened to be the woman who gave me the cake had said to me that the chocolate mousse cakes have chocolate icing on top with chocolate shavings on the side, and the vanilla mousse cake has white icing and coconut shaving on the side. So when she pulls up my order and she says that I had ordered chocolate mousse cake, I then questioned her about the cake she gave me, because she had remembered who I was when I called. She said she gave me a chocolate cake, I was pretty dumbfounded by it really. Anyway I corrected her and told no, that was not the case and that she handed me a cake that had white icing on it ( the container the of cake was clear so you could clearly see the icing of the cake, and it was the correct cake because it had the writing on the cake I had requested so there is no way they mixed up cakes). Anyway she proceeds to rudely tell me that the cake she handed to me was chocolate and that was that, at this point I said to her I will come back with the cake so she sees for herself that the cake was wrong, and this point I guess she probably realized that she could be wrong, she then says she will call me back after she looks into the matter.
5 mins later, she calls me back and says so apparently the order did not specify what flavor the cake was suppose to be. But somehow the narrative changed from, yea you ordered a chocolate cake and you got a chocolate cake to now your order didn’t specify what flavor the cake was. Throughout this whole experience, I was made to feel like I was lying about the order I received and then made to feel like I am to blame for not having the cake I wanted and ordered.
And through it all I didn’t get a single apology to how Kelli was talking to me and handling the matter. Its really unfortunate too because every one I know speaks highly of manna, and in my effort to support locally this is the treatment I got, I could have gone to Costco or anywhere else for the cake but I didn’t. And I still won’t, but it will not be Manna that will be ordering from anytime.
