WOW!! Darci is a cake Goddess! Our wedding cake was beautiful and so delicious! I asked her to capture (on a cake!) our Mountain Wedding, including a bright blue Banff Lake... Well, she did just that and more!! Our cake was just stunning!! So Perfect. And the Flavour?! YUMMYY!! We picked vanilla cake with a hint of Lavender.. (she has so many flavour combos to pick from - we blindly picked lavender for something unique) OH MY GOSH! So dang Tasty!! 10/10 would recommend Kake by Darci to everyone. For being a one women show, she's BOMB! Her work speaks for itself!! Also, check out her pop up shop for sweet treats! Those macaroons made in heaven!

O.M.G.! You can't go wrong with anything here! This is a s'mores cookie. I bought 4. They disappeared. Before I got home. Vanilla bean glazed donuts. They lasted until next day. So awesome! Will definitely be back for more.

Very disappointed. As a customer she have no right to tell me rude words like (pestering). I was so excited to order my cake and just want to know if she can accommodate my order. She cancelled my order after emailing few times. I would accept it better if she told me right away that she's busy and won't able to do it. Communicating thru email with her is disappointing.

Darci was wonderful to work with! The first thing she told us was that she makes her cakes with real butter (no shortening) which we really liked and appreciated. She set up a tasting for us and we sampled several flavors of cake and icing. We showed her a photo of the cake we were hoping to have for our wedding and she had no problem trying out a new idea. She made sure to caution us that it might not turn out exactly like the photo but she ended up making it perfect! Darci was very accommodating and was able to make the tiers different flavors each with a different icing flavor and not only did it look beautiful, it tasted amazing too!

Cake looks pretty but the owner’s manners is the total opposite! I thought that was just an experience from me, but reading other reviews it is her “normal” and she’s always justifying her harsh attitude.. if I were you looking for the best cake/pastry for your occasion I wouldn’t bother looking into this shop. Who would want a cake made by someone with a terrible manners and makes you feel that you are with no importance.

It turned out better than i could’ve imagined. The cake was delicious and the design was incredible. I ordered this for my wife’s birthday in Banff and had it delivered to the hotel. I asked for pine trees along the bottom in navy blue and i thought it would be sort of generic stencil shaped but what i got was so incredible i highly recommend dealing with KAKE (I added the candles so disregard the colour of them lol)

I personally Love the cakes, and the $30 package deals on Friday- But then, I walked in on Thursday and the door was open- super excited to spend $1000 for my birthday and was asked to leave. She was rude! And didn’t even want to know what I was going to say. At first I thought I was brown but then looking at reviews it seems like a collective concern. Unfortunately as a local, I won’t be spending my $ with this company.

Here's what you need to know: my husband doesn't even like cake and there wasn't a single crumb left on his plate by the time we finished eating. :) I had the opportunity to get a cake tasting (to go - thank you for accommodating me during covid restrictions) and they included a couple of extra treats and flavours for us, which was such a thoughtful gesture. We ended up choosing one of those bonus flavours for our wedding cake so I am extra glad that it was in there! Everything from planning out our wedding cake to choosing our rental stand to having our cake delivered was absolutely wonderful and such an easy process. Pricing is fair, and we couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. For our wedding, we chose birthday cake with cookies and cream buttercream, and it was seriously delicious. We had a small wedding party (18 people) and had our hearts set on a three-tier cake, so our top two layers were faux, with the bottom layer being the real one. Visually, it was stunning, and flavour-wise, it was delicious! Our entire family gave us rave reviews about how it tasted! I'd recommend Kake by Darci every time - thank you for giving us such a wonderful memory to look back on from our wedding celebration!

I am so pleased with our experience with Darci! We were due to travel for the UK for our wedding in April. We had already visited Darci a year before and have a very yummy cake tasting experience- the cakes were fluffy and delicious. CAKE HEAVEN! Her communication we great, and her instagram was always up to date with the latest ideas. She gave great advice and ideas for our specific needs. Unfortunately, our wedding got cancelled due to the FCO travel ban and lockdown measures in the UK and in Canada. Darci was so kind, she was very understanding. She also offered us a full refund (inc, the deposit) straight away. We received the refund in a matter of days. I couldn't have asked for better customer service. If we go get to Canada to get married, or even for a trip, we will defiantly get hold of Darci again! Thank you!

We had a small 6" cake + 60 cupcakes made by Darci for our wedding a few weeks ago (Aug 2019). We only had 24 guests but wanted to make sure everyone had plenty of dessert - who only wants one cupcake, right?! Darci was easy to communicate with, even with us being from/in California and planning everything from a distance. We had chocolate cake with cookies & cream buttercream, lemon cake with raspberry buttercream, and early gray + earl gray. All were delicious but the earl gray was THE favorite! I thought it would be the least popular (I knew I would love it but it's not as common a flavor so I wasn't sure about our guests) - everyone liked it, wish we got more of that one! Of course the cake was beautiful! Darci was awesome about picking up a few flowers from our florist to use on the cake and delivered to our dinner location (Iron Goat in Canmore - also so good!) and even allowed us to leave the cake/cupcake stands at the restaurant where she picked them up the next day as we weren't going to be able to drop them off. Definitely recommend! THANK YOU so much!

She is such a delight to work with and did an absolutely incredible job bringing my dream cake to life, it was perfect! Not only was it so cute, it was DELICIOUS! Everything that leaves Darci's kitchen is absolutely delicious. She made our cake and cupcakes for our wedding, and people are still raving about them a month later. A crowd favorite was definitely the chocolate raspberry cupcakes, as well as the coffee cake with salted caramel icing, the vanilla bean and bourbon was delicious...and so was the lemon blueberry...and basically what I am saying is you really can't go wrong with any of her flavors. Our cake was a gorgeous mix of bright and fun colors, which is exactly what we were looking for, and the cupcakes were absolutely beautiful. She was also wonderful to work with, willing to work with my last minute guest count changes and request for gluten friendly items. Would not hesitate to recommend Darci to anyone looking for treats for any special day in their lives!

This review is way belated but needed to be posted! Kake by Darci was awesome to work with for our May 2019 Wedding at Creekside Villa in Canmore. Everything went swimingly and I could not have been more impressed with the way she conducts her business from the tasting to the actual delivery of end product. It was so refreshing to go to a tasting and not be bombarded with questions but simply left with my fiance to try all the absolutely amazing butter creams and cake choices and not feel pressured, rushed or on the spot. The cake turned out exquisite and Darci even saved us some money by using a Gold-leaf substitute which photographed soooo much better. Honestly one of the best vendors for our nuptials. Thanks so much to Kake by Darci!

For brides who are as obsessed with cake as I am, you will not be disappointed. Darci was actually my first stop after we had booked a venue, lol. We were able to do a tasting which was a lot of fun and Darci had us set up with tea and multiple flavours of cake and buttercream to try. We ended up doing a one tier cake and a couple of cupcake flavours that were delicious. I am still eating our earl grey tea cake with salted caramel buttercream for breakfast. For the cupcakes we did espresso buttercream and chocolate cake and vanilla cake with coconut buttercream. Our guest raved about how delicious it was and it was great to have the variety of flavours for everyone. Darci was thorough, easy to work with, professional and on top of things. Our set up at the venue was beautiful and I can't wait to see photos. Darci, thank you for making our day that much sweeter! :)

We had Darci do our wedding cake and cupcakes. The hand-painted tree on our cake was so pretty and the cupcakes were delicious! So many of our guests commented how yummy they were. It was nice to find someone who can make a moist cupcake that isn't bogged down with super heavy buttercream. She seems to know how to get it just right and make it look good too!

Darci made our wedding cake and did a top-notch job. She made our tasting feel like a little date and had even prepared a very extra flavours. She was extremely accommodating and obviously very put together and organized, keeping track of every tiny detail and following up with us on time (because obviously planning a wedding can get bonkers). We never had to worry about a thing with her, which was hugely important to us. Even when the cake toppers we ordered off Etsy didn't arrive, she had lots of fun options to pick from (we went with two moose). We ended up getting a two-tier, the larger bottom layer being earl grey cake with vanilla bean & bourbon butter cream (UNREAL, kinda like a tiramisu) and then the top was a light and refreshing lemon cake with the raspberry buttercream. We would highly recommend Darci.

Not being "wedding people" we were a bit anxious about the whole experience of cake tasting. The Most Beautiful Wedding Cake! My husband and I aren't really cake people, so we just wanted a small cake to say we cut one at our wedding. Darci created this beautiful hand-painted piece of art. We almost felt bad for cutting it. And to our pleasure, the carrot cake was amazingly moist and so good! Darci is absolutely incredible! A true artist that has a passion for what she does, and that is evident in her work! Darci came highly recommended by our wedding planner, and I can see why! We had a destination wedding in Banff, but my mom and I were able to make a trip up last summer to arrange some details of the wedding. We did a cake tasting with Darci on this trip, and I picked several flavors that I wanted to try. Darci added one additional flavor (Earl Grey) because she thought we may like it. She was 100% correct, and this is what we chose for our wedding cake. We liked her cakes so much that we also ordered a cake for the rehearsal dinner. Both cakes were absolutely gorgeous and several guests stated they were the best cakes they had ever tried. I highly recommend Darci for any event you are planning! She is so kind and does a wonderful job! Unfortunately, I do not have a great picture of our rehearsal dinner cake before it got slightly bumped in the front, but you can still see how beautiful it was in the picture! Our wedding photographer (BRZ Photography) did get some great shots of our wedding cake though!

My son's birthday cake was just perfect!! I would give 10 stars if I could. I knew how busy Darci can get so I ordered the cake well in advance from her quarantine cake options (vanilla cake with raspberry buttercream and white chocolate drip...drool!!! SOOOO GOOOOOOD!!!). Communication was easy and Darci even offered to incorporate some decorations that I was going to add on later myself. I'm so happy I ordered with Darci as this cake was everything I could have hoped for and even more delicious than that. And if you are ever around on a Friday when Darci hosts a flash Friday sale.. get your hands on some of those donuts she makes, because they are out of this world! Completely rude and unprofessional owner. The cake is kind of bland, it is beyond me how there are so many good reviews unless it's Darci's friends. I have never been so disappointed with a business and this was my wedding cake. If you want a cake that's pretty, go with this business. If you want it to taste good and to be treated with respect and kindness, do yourself a favour and go elsewhere. Lady, you just know how to bake. Get over yourself.

We first heard of Kake by Darci when I was googling wedding cakes in Canmore. It was also word by mouth from Cornerstone Theater, where we had our wedding. We ordered a 7" vanilla cake with earl grey filling inside and vanilla buttercream for the outside. We opt for the Earl Grey filling because my husband and I love Earl Grey tea and I have never had earl grey cake before. Darci recommended we book a cake with her almost a year in advance as she can get really busy during wedding season. We went to Canmore to meet Darci and sample some of her cakes . They were so good. Darci took the time to interview us and assess our needs and ideas for the cake. She was very accommodating and communications with her were great as we were in Calgary and she was in Canmore after the initial 1:1 visit we had with her. We chose a minimalist design for the buttercream and our florist decorated it with flowers. It was beautiful! When we had the chance to try the cake the next day after the wedding, it was delicious! The flavor kept well after being refrigerated. Lots of complements from family and bridal party when we shared it with them.

Kake came very highly recommended by numerous people, so it was a no brainer to go with Darci for our wedding cake. We did the sampler before hand on a trip to Canmore and Darci threw in some extra cake and buttercream flavours on top of our selections that were incredible! Her cake is moist and delicious and her buttercreams are so flavourful but not overly sweet. Darci and her small team were great communicating back and forth to ensure I got the perfect cake. There was a small timing mix up (no one's fault- just a mix up between a million covid changes and SO many emails), but Darci was quick to touch base with myself and hatch a plan to get the cake to me on my wedding day...it all worked out wonderfully. My cake was SO beautiful, it tasted amazing, and was enjoyed by everyone!

I would give 0 stars if I could. Zero customer service etiquette. Rude to clients yet feels entitled to your money after not being able to accommodate even if I have nicely asked how much of a heads up does she require since she wouldn't give our full refund back due to the second lockdown in Alberta that was implemented at the time of my booking. (This experience itself is red flag already, paid Dec. 1st, provincial lockdown implemented Dec.13th, cancelling December 14th and wouldn't give our full refund) We've finally decided to elope and have asked if she can accommodate us on our new date and after saying yes to me via e-mail, she takes it back after I follow-up via phone call since she hasn't been returning my e-mails and says that they are closed that day since I did not place the order. I would have done it if I was instructed to do so, but this was a postponed order, already fully paid and just changing the date. I have sent her a few e-mails which obviously confirms the order yet she didn't accommodate us nor would give our full refund back despite her shortcomings. You shouldn't have said YES in the beginning, knowing what our new date is if you knew you wouldn't be able to commit. If you are biting more than you can chew maybe you need to re-assess the way you are handling your business. I normally don't write reviews and in fact this is the first time I'm doing it and it speaks volume. For all the future clients, if you are planning to book her during these hard times, good luck!

Darci was a delight to work with and made it easy for us to order a cake for our wedding entirely online/through email (very helpful since we were coming down to Canmore from out of town), as well as work within our budget to find something perfect for us. We went with a lemon cake with raspberry buttercream and it was so light and fluffy, and not too sugary sweet. A perfect finishing touch to our wedding dinner!

We tasted cakes for our wedding from three different vendors in the Banff area. We saw Darci second. Though we still went to the third appointment, we were basically certain after our tasting with Darci that she was the one. She was incredibly professional, and of course, her CAKES ARE SO AMAZING. Not only do they taste great, but they look stunning as well. We are not creative enough to even know how to come up with a gorgeous design, but she was patient and helpful to us to create a beautiful looking cake that complemented our decor. We discussed different size options for our wedding cake with her as well. She was aware we were offering another dessert option, and didn't try to up sell us on an unnecessarily large cake...but quoted us on it anyway when we asked. I thought we would only need a smaller cake, my husband, despite the other dessert, wanted the bigger one. We ordered a big one. Weddings are famous for producing a ton of leftover cake.....even with our other dessert and large cake, we only had a tiny bit leftover. And that was finished the next day. I want to ship a whole new one to our house for our anniversary!

We asked Darci to make our wedding cake for our postponed June 2021 wedding. She was lovely to work with, and incredibly understanding of our changing wedding plans during the pandemic. I can't express how much I appreciated that flexibility from vendors as a bride, from a different province, trying to navigate the ever changing public health restrictions. We ended up with a beautiful two tier cake - coffee cake with salted caramel buttercream and chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream (see photo). Completely devoured by our families! We also stopped by her flash Friday sale (twice!) while we were in Canmore. S'mores cookies, brownies, cupcakes - all incredible flavour, texture, and not too sweet. We also enjoyed getting to chat with her while we were visiting. Mad props and respect to Darci for all she's able to accomplish as a one-woman show baker! I'll definitely continue to support her business when I can.

Our cake looked as good as it tasted and it tasted amazing! Our destination wedding was planned on a somewhat expedited schedule and as such, we didn’t have a chance to do a proper tasting. We went by recommendations of our photographer (Stephanie Couture) and were not disappointed. The cake had perfect density, moisture content, and flavor. Darci worked with our florist (Flowers by Janie) to decorate with fresh flowers and delivered it to Rimrock Resort in Banff on time for our brunch reception. Darci made our wedding cake in 2019 and it was everything we could have dreamt of and more. It was beautiful and tasted incredible; her buttercream is out of this world delicious! We had such a great time at our cake tasting and my husband who usually doesn't like cake had such a hard time deciding on flavours because he loved it all! Our guests raved about it and we purposely ordered more than we needed so we could enjoy it the next day at a post wedding event. From our first email inquiry to Darci and until we returned our cake stand to her she was so helpful, professional and friendly. We knew Darci was a one woman shop (as stated on her website) and we always made sure to plan ahead and we never had any issues. Luckily for us Darci began doing flash Friday sales shortly after and I drove from Calgary to Canmore every week for about two months to pick up treats. I would recommend Darci to anyone in a heart beat!

We chose to have two tiers of chocolate with a lemon tier sandwiched in between and our icing on the inside was raspberry and outside was bourbon vanilla bean. Everyone loved it!! This place seems to have good reviews so hopefully mine is just a one off thing but I am quite disappointed with how they're handling their communication. It takes over a week to get a respond from them which I think is quite a long wait compare to other cake shops. The process of how they handle their emails is quite inefficient which led to the incorrect design of my wedding cake. I paid a hefty lots for a very bland looking cake. They said they would put gold foils on the cake but nothing. It was just plain boring white with no character. I also don't like how they're making me bring the florals for the cake when other cake shops would do it themselves. I still went with them though because of the ratings so I did have high expectations but just got disappointed. Though the cake was still delicious, I don't think I'd recommend them.

Sometimes she doesn't have enough to satisfy out sweet tooth and tide us over. They also freeze really well! If we're in the mood, we'll drive out from Calgary just for the cookies.

Very disappointed in the customer service. We had heard so many great things about this bakery so thought it would be a no-brainer since we are getting married in Canmore. We took a trip to Canmore to pick up our tasting and were met by (as it turned out Darci) who was on the phone at the time. She interrupted her call to ask us if we were picking up and I said yes. She handed our tasting to us and told us to email any questions. She went back to the phone and proceeded to apologize in length about how rude it was of her to interrupt them.... I had a couple questions I wanted to ask and had no issue waiting for her but we felt that it wasn't acceptable for us to stay and wait. Even after that I thought well maybe she was having a bad day and still wanted to give them a chance to redeem themselves. So I voiced my concern in my email to them but followed up with that I still wanted to work with them. The response was a big long winded excuse about being so busy and with COVID etc etc... sorry but COVID is not an excuse for bad service. And the minute there is a "but" that is not an apology. Needless to say we've gone with a local bakery in Calgary and a friend will bring our cake out to us. Upon explaining our situation to our new baker she politely said we were not the first to have this complaint. She may make good cakes but a wedding day is important and just a little customer service goes a long way. And if you are too busy to do that maybe you could help the economy and hire some help since you are too busy.
