I recently worked with Steven on a very time sensitive case that would have put our Nanny in jeopardy of deportation with a very difficult time ever returning to Canada - changing her life irreperably. We moved from an early morning call, to an onsite meeting, to on location at Canadian Boarder Services Agency all within a few hours. Legally there was no magic bullet solution (another inexperienced and immigration knowledge depraved lawyer (from Orange LLC) had placed her in great jeopardy by providing misinformation and being extremely unresponsive) but Steven pushed for the best outcome possible, diverting what would have been a disaster for our nanny. On the final day at CBSA, he stayed with our Nanny for 4 hours because of delays and errors in communication he was aware of made by the CBSA, and finally had things corrected. He reduced to time she has to be out of the country drastically and she has the ability to come back to Canada and work in a far shorter time. Without his help this outcome would have been impossible to achieve. As someone above mentioned, Steven cares and that makes all the difference for our Nanny. Thank you very much Steven.

If you are reading this posting, I know how much pressure you are bearing, how many sleepless night you have been through and how chaotic is your life right now, because I was there, fortunately God brought me to Mr. Steven Tress, he is like a typical defense lawyer you see in a Hollywood movie, sophisticated, eloquent and extremely sharp. This man is a true workaholic, he is responsive as a dynamite, you can email him at 2:00am most likely you will get a reply by 6 in the morning. Unlike some lawyers who depends on their assistants alot, Steven like to attend the case by himself. He is knowledgeable and extremely strait forward, he doesn't give you false hope, so just be aware he may not take your case if he is not confident enough. Remember when the bureaucracy decides to crash you, they have unlimited resources and energy funded by the tax payer, they don't care you as a human being with real life but just a statistic number. The only thing can shield you is a good lawyer and Mr. Steven tress is second to none in this field.

I needed someone GOOD in the immigration area for my good friends, a married couple. It's not a simple case. They worked and lived in Canada legally for over 3 years, and was promised permanent residence but at the end, immigration didn't go through as promised by their employer, and they had to return to Switzerland. I first found a law firm on Bay Street, someone had mentioned it. I phoned and was told $250 was the consultation fee. Then I was transferred to another receptionist and it had gone up to $275. All they wanted was money! So business like, so uncaring. When I briefly explained about the case, she was already offering legal advice. Then she wanted $275 before she would book an appointment with a lawyer. She made sure I heard from her that their law firm occupies the entire 28th floor in that building on Bay Street! What's the relevance here? Anyway, then I thought I really should research more and then I came up with Steven Tress. I read all the good reviews and there was only one bad one (and I am not so sure about that bad one, just the way it was written, even before I contacted Steven). I phoned and he answered the phone! I asked many initial questions, all he answered promptly and courteously, without rushing me, without ever asking for money whatsoever. It was only when I suggested it was time for him to do a proper consultation with the couple directly via e-mail, that, and so reasonably so, that he said his charge was $200 (much cheaper) and at the end of very many e-mails, from my friends, and more from me, all their/my questions were fully answered to the finest details! Never met Steven but he would be my immigration lawyer from now on. I would highly recommend him. Steven is the best immigration lawyer, and one with a heart, and not just money-minded. In my life, I have different specialist individuals who bless me with their assistance: I have a great person in each of these fields: a GP lawyer, a GP doctor, a Chartered Accountant, a psychiatrist, a travel agent, an insurance agent, etc. And now I added Steven to my list of immigration (and God forbids, a criminal) lawyer!!!

Terrible experience. I consulted him because of work permit issues (IMMIGRATION PROBLEM) He charged me up front before even hearing me. Very wierd. After 10 minutes of conversation, he stated that he could help me re-apply for the renewal of the visa from abroad. He sent me the contract via email when I was already back to my home country. Before signing the contract he was very careful but as soon all the paper were signed, he couldn't provide me with any support at all. He threw all the responsability on me from finding where and how to notify documents to what type of documents I needed to apply for my category. Not recommended! Specially if you are out of the country. Lost all my money and never completed his work. He kindly offered a refund of 5% out of $2000,00 charged for his services. I ended up paying that amount for exchanging emails via google. I just noticed that 2 google review scored 5 are from the 2 office assistants. ASTONISHING!

I had a chance to meet with Mr. Tress. The session started very strange. He asked the money very weirdly upfront right away. The session started without my consent of letting his intern sitting with us. He chatted about 15 minutes regarding my job, what I do, irrelevant subjects. Very arrogant, highly aggressive and money hunter type of lawyer. I have absolutely no idea how someone could give 5 stars to him. I never write google comments but wanted make an exception just for this guy to feel a bit better. He simply told me I don't have enough days to fulfill residency. Later on I did the calculation again with CBA border data and through CIC website. Apparently I am 3 months passed my time already and he can't even do the math for 1095 days. Very dis-organized and arrogant guy. See yourself if you want. Hope this helps other people...
