My husband and I have used Mary Keyork and Nancy Elliott’s services for my husband’s application as a Canadian permanent resident. After filing back in December 2009, his visa was finally issued by the Lima embassy in December 2011. My husband’s application was for the most part straightforward, but also had its own complications: he had lived undocumented in Mexico and in the US for almost 5 years, and had Immigration charges to his name in the US. When we approached Mary and Nancy with our situation and desire to see him come and live with me in Canada, we were worried that his past history in those two places could be problematic for his immigration to Canada. They explained very clearly that he was not inadmissible,and if an agent made a mistake and refused his case, they were confident they could win the case in an appeal. I cannot exress how much their confidence played such a big part in us hiring them. We could tell they knew what they were talking about and that they were competent. The information was clear and succinct. From there, they explained everything we would have to do, organized our application and prepared a very well written submission letter. Throughout the process, they took care of communicating with the embassy and always kept us informed. Towards the end of the process, my husband was requested for an interview, mostly regarding his status in Mexico and the US. They took some time to review the whole application with him and helped him get prepared for the questions agents could have for him. Their attitude and explanations really helped him calm down and remain confident during the interview. Otherwise, they were also very quick and patient at answering any questions I would have along the way. The immigration process as a whole is a long and stressful waiting game for which one doesn’t not know the end of. I can’t stress enough how the fact that they were always available and replied to our e-mails very quickly made it that much easier and allowed us to have some peace of mind without having to worry about every little detail. My husband landed this January 2012. We are now starting to live the life we had long been waiting for. We are relieved and happy with the outcome. The work that Mary and Nancy did for us has a lot to do with this happy ending, and I would not hesitate one second to recommend them to any of my friends or relatives. Beside being greatpeople, they handled our application with care, professionalism and were trustworthy. I have no doubt in my mind that they were the right people to represent us. We have been trying to get my fiance's adopted daughter to Canada for the past 8 years. Her daughter was a child that was abandoned during the One Child Policy. As you can imagine, in China during that time, to get an official birth certificate for a child born illegally, was and still is, impossible. We went through multiple immigration consultant and lawyers with almost 95% of them telling us to not bother due to the complexity of our situation. Finally. we found another immigration consultant and a lawyer who helped us create a stellar family sponsorship application based on humanitarian and compassionate grounds. Unfortunately the immigration officer at the embassy in Beijing had rejected the application stating multiple reasons that did not take into account the mountain of evidence we had provided to them. Many of the reasons for rejecting the application were blatantly wrong. We then needed to file an Judicial Review (appeal on the decision) with the Federal Court of Canada because we could simply not sit with the fact that this immigration officer did not fulfill their duty properly. Our previous lawyer and immigration consultant then recommended us to Mary Keyork, due to her exceptional abilities on immigration matters. That's when we decided to reach out to Mary and her team. Mary was willing to accept our case and help us with our immigration appeal. She applied her phenomenal legal expertise and had produced an immaculate list of arguments that referenced many relevant past cases that established critical legal precedence for our case. As expected from her fantastic work, the federal judge granted a re-determination on our immigration application! The application has been sent back to the embassy in Beijing for a new immigration officer to access. Although our case is still on-going, the federal decision ruling in favor of our application is HUGE. To give some perspective, only less than 20% of Judicial Reviews are granted a hearing, even more so, to have a positive decision be made on a case after withstanding legal scrutiny on the federal level, is proof in itself, of the exceptional quality of work. Mary is a bonafide immigration expert, and regardless of the outcome of the re-determination, our family can confidently say the following: Mary is one of the best. She is always transparent throughout the entire process, telling us all potential outcomes of each situation, and the best course of action to take. She always explains clearly what to expect and it's truly great to have someone with so much integrity working on our case. Her work quality as I mentioned before, is exceptional. For anyone who is familiar with legal case preparation her work will blow you away. If there was one more thing I could ask for from her, it would be to mentor any aspiring lawyers to achieve the same level of expertise, professionalism, and integrity she has so wonderfully shown us. Applying for permanent residence through spousal sponsorship may appear simple since the forms and steps are available online but the reality is that the instructions for the forms are not always clear and Immigration rules are constantly changing. It is also impossible to say how much and what type of supplemental information to provide. In fact, I had a friend who spent a lot of time doing the spousal sponsorship by herself, only to have the CIC return her documents three months after and she had to start the process again! And so it was clear to me that I needed to get help and hire a lawyer. Over the years, I have had many negative experiences with different professionals (accountants, lawyers, etc) and so I am very wary and extremely picky when it comes to getting professional help. So before deciding to hire Mary, I did whatever research I could online and then asked her several detailed questions about how she approaches applications. Soon it became clear to me that she has a very detailed and well thought out process for each stage of the application, is highly organized and efficient and given her years of experience, she really knew how to navigate the ever changing landscape of immigration rules.
