My case was one of the harder cases as I was up against the city of Burnaby. Feel free to read my horror story of how I was treated at Slater Vechhio on my other Google Review- there you are just a number, one of thousands of cases under 'Tony', and you are appointed to a 'case worker' with no law degree of any sort. They didn't even know who I was when I signed over to MP. On the other hand, Brian and Lynn (his amazing assistant) took such good care of me, starting right from the beginning at actually scheduling me assessments ( I had a scheduled court date within a year and SV had dropped the ball), coordinating everything for me so quickly. He also had to completely re-do my original claim that was filed by SV, because it wasn't even relevant, a complete 'Google search' of brain injury, copied and pasted on my statement of claim. We had many appointments, he asked lots of clarifying questions, and the entire time they were both readily available to answer any questions and calm me down when I was stressed out. They were utter professionals, and just the most amazing team. I cannot recommend them enough. Because of them, my case was turned around, and he did so much with the mess that SV left behind (they'd even scheduled me for 2 weeks instead of 4, so ICBC was threatening to adjourn another 1-2 YEARS, so Brian did so much to still negotiate a real settlement). On November 15, 2014 I had a MVA. It was a single car accident on black ice. I sustained serious injuries. At the time, even though I was not at fault, I could not find a lawyer to accept my case since according to ICBC, it falls under Part 7 only and there was no settlement to fight for. Years went by and I suffered dealing with more than a dozen of adjusters and the frustrations of not being able to receive the treatments I needed to recover. I was a former client of this firm and since my settlement my opinion and experience with Steve Gibson have significantly changed (previous review below). He is completely unprofessional, rude and his code of conduct is appalling. I will NEVER refer this lawyer or firm to another person. Mr. Gibson has used my contact information to get involved in a personal matter with a client he is representing that I referred. He sent various correspondence to me, including to my workplace, in very threatening and accusatory tones and took advantage of my past relationship with him to get involved in a matter that has nothing to do with personal injury. He told me information of my friend that I was not aware of and is using his position of power as a lawyer and my former counsel to bully me into doing things against my wishes that he legally has no authority to speak to or provide advice to me on. I requested he cease contact with me and also requested this to Mr. Murphy and Mr. Battista to ensure compliance or I would be making a formal complaint. This was not acknowledged by the partners nor Mr. Gibson as he continued to harass me and stated he doesn't respond well to unwarranted threats to his reputation. I was forced to make a formal complaint with the Law Society for professional misconduct. ************ Steve Gibson is a great lawyer. He is trustworthy, knowledgable, and genuinely cares about his clients. His team of assistants are always a pleasure and available for any questions. I have and will continue to refer him to my friends and family.

After I checked out several law firms, I narrowed my choice between two law-firms that had the rating of 4.3 and 4.5 stars. These ratings are very good, and the people who wrote them said nice things about both firms. So, I was weighing options between the two firms. Then, by chance, I came across this law firm, Murphy-Battista, which had a perfect 5 star rating! If this rating was given by one person, or 3 people, or even 5 people, I would not have selected this firm because the margin would have been too small to rely upon. However, I read the reviews of 25 people who used this firm, who reviewed it, and each one of them gave it a perfect 5 stars! That is really impressive. And based on the glowing recommendations of those who dealt with it, I retained this law firm, and Paul Bosco was my lawyer. When I first met Paul at his office, he told me to concentrate on my rehabilitation, and leave everything else for him. That was very reassuring. I found Paul to be honest, transparent and caring. When I recovered from my injury, Paul quickly settled my cause on amount that was much higher than I expected. It so happened that my wife, unfortunately, got into an accident several months later. And naturally, we retained Paul for that as well. And just, as in my case, Paul settled my wife’s case for amount that was higher than we expected. The law firm did not give me one cent to commend them or say nice things about them. I am doing it because I enormously benefited from the writers of the previous reviews who enticed me into this law firm. And I am doing the same thing so that potential customers would benefit from this amazing firm just as I did. The bottom line is this: You won’t go wrong on this law firm. Hire them. My son and I worked with Kevin Gourlay and his team. We highly recommend this uniquely qualified team that really gets things right where it counts. Here are a few reasons why: 1. From working with another firm before coming to Mr. Gourlay and his team, and hearing from others in the field, we've learned that many other personal injury firms have a culture of settling before trial, and hardly ever actually go to court. It seems they'd much rather push their client to accept a low settlement offer than spend time going to court. The problem is that the other side knows this, and then often has little motivation to offer a fair settlement, knowing that they’ll never have to face your lawyer in court. Mr. Gourlay and his team have lots of experience going to court, and a published track record of wins, so they have no reason to avoid going to court. This gave us peace of mind because we knew that this could really help in getting a fair out-of-court settlement, and that in the worst case scenario of needing to go to court, we'd have a team who could handle it. Things turned out wonderfully in the end. 2. It was great having a lawyer that pushed to obtain the strongest medical evidence possible. In many cases, expensive medical reports are necessary to prove the full extent of injuries. Unless you have thousands of dollars in the bank, you'll likely be dependent on your lawyer to cover the cost until you receive your payout. And while lawyers aren't doctors, they often play a big role in deciding what to pursue, and what not to pursue in terms of medical reports, since they'll have to shell out for them initially. It means a lot to have a lawyer who understands your story and isn't afraid to spend the funds needed to prove it when needed. 3. Mr. Gourlay was very approachable, easy to talk to, and always made time for us. It's very unpleasant having a lawyer who treats you like an inconvenience, especially when you suddenly find yourself in the middle of an injury claim you never wished for. Unfortunately, for some other firms that essentially operate as "settlement mills," it's just not worth it spending much time talking to clients--it's a waste of time for them, as it doesn't fit their business model of getting as many clients in and out the door, as quickly, and with as little effort as possible. Having worked with such firms before, it was a relief working with Mr. Gourlay--the difference was night and day. You can't go wrong with this team. We're so glad we chose them.

I've had the pleasure of working with Kevin Hyde and am impressed with his professionalism and promptness with respect to my ICBC case. I interviewed several lawyers before signing on with Murphy Battista and it's the best decision I made. As soon as ICBC found out I am working with Murphy Battista, the case was referred to another adjuster at ICBC and my treatment referrals started getting approved right away. You owe it to your self to at least speak with them if you require any services they provide. Many of the law firms that I interviewed would have a Client Service Manager or Office Manager type person take down my information, and then I would get 5 minutes with the actual lawyer to ask questions. Not here, Kevin spent close to two hours with my girlfriend and I, getting to know us and our situation, and advising us of everything we should expect in the next while.
