This time, the purpose was to to review a service agreement that I had recently entered into, wherein I am a sub-contractor. The main objectives were to assess the following: (1) likelihood of the agreement being interpreted as an "independent contractor" agreement or "employment agreement (2) appropriate types of insurances that would be prudent for my company to take Once again, Martin came through with flying colors. From start to finish, I had a great experience with him and his assistant (Daiane). Characteristics that I noticed include honesty, integrity, ethics, respect, empathy, and customer focus. Martin demonstrated strong knowledge regarding employment law. He takes the time to have clear and upfront communication. This includes understanding the client’s true situation (i.e. as opposed to “one size fits all”), advising options to consider, weighing pros & cons. Both Martin and Daiane were consistently prompt and responsive. At no cost, he provides initial consultation – by phone and / or in-person; and in the process, he provides a good assessment of the client’s specific case, options worth pursuing, and ensures the client clearly understands the entire process and associated legal cost. I had found myself in unfamiliar territory as an executor to an estate dealing with several contentious issues that had no visible Horizon in sight of being resolved.
