I separated in 2009 with 4 children of the marriage, a complicated situation no matter the approach. When things are acrimonious it can be untenable. In order to avoid ongoing court proceedings and focus on our children, I chose to let all of my “issues” go and continued on, focused on parenting, until being served with notice to appear in Chambers, November 2017 to resolve a laundry list of new issues being brought against me. Feeling overwhelmed and knowing I had very limited resources to secure counsel, I reached out to Beau Atkins of Edge Family Law and explained the lengthy and tiresome situation. He appeared in court for me in November and got the result we wanted. An interim Order and direction to a Pretrial Conference in April 2018. Doc Crooks of Edge Family Law assisted me in being fully prepared, attended Pretrial with me and in the end we came to a settlement beneficial to both sides. Through this thoroughly unpleasant experience both Beau and Doc ensured I was well informed, that I was directing my emotions appropriately and that I felt supported and cared for the entire time. More importantly they represented my interests as well as those of our children to help us reach a fair and equitable outcome and did all of this while working within my very limited financial means. Edge Family Law is comprised of reasonable, affordable, informed and tenacious lawyers who can be trusted to do the right thing for families. I cannot recommend their expertise enough.

Took my son there to see his lawyer and sign a few papers. It sucks there's not really public parking there, there is a Lot to to park, maybe enough for 3-5 public parking spots. Most public parking is on a side busy street with paid parking.

Was referred to a lawyer at Edge Law who quoted my a reasonable price for getting me through a divorce that had dragged on for way too long. He was upfront about what I could expect, told me the steps he was going to take in order to help put pressure to settle on my former spouse, and then proceeded to sit on the routine paperwork for over 8 months, and in fact never filed it. Instead, her lawyer stole my lawyer's thunder, and put me in a position where I was under all the pressure to settle rather than deal with a summary judgement. When confronted about his lack of action, my lawyer wrote me a long scathing email saying he could have charged me over $10,000 for the services he had provided, and the only reason he didn't was because he was doing the work based on a referral from a mutual friend. That he found me personally difficult to work with. This vitriolic reply was uncalled for and unprofessional. He never once answered the questions concerning the 8 months in which he didn't apply to have the matter settled in Saskatoon rather than Regina (a 5 second request to a clerk to fill out a form from what I've since learned) nor did he answer the question about why he never applied for pre-trial in that 8 month period, even after having me come into the office to complete all the paperwork and charging me his $300/hour fee. He was happy to quote the number of phone calls and emails he sent out on my behalf in his $10,000.00 quote, while neglecting to mention that the vast majority of those emails and calls happened after his opponent stole his thunder and put all the pressure on us. Anyway, the TL:DR is that if I could give this firm a zero star rating I would, they were unprofessional, unhelpful, and unrepentant about it when asked for an explanation.
