Oh man... Where to start.
So Mr. Pentz repped my ex in a custody case recently and you may think "you're a little biased" because he was the opposition but had he done a good job I would have the professional courtesy NOT to write this review.
David comes off as confused most of the time. He would frequently claim to be "overwhelmed" everytime I sent more than one email over the course of a week regarding our case, claiming there was just too much correspondence from either myself or his client coming his way to possibly deal with and that in 2021, as a lawyer, he's not a great typist.
He would frequently become unresponsive until the very last minute, like a day or two before a court date, even though I was very agreeable to his clients terms most of the time and just trying to forge an agreement to resolve this case. His negligence almost resulted in taking this case to trial even though we had already reached a tentative agreement and just needed to organize everything and sign the papers in order to move forward.
We spoke on the phone on three seperate occasions regarding this matter and he would ramble on and on about "running scenarios" and tell stories about things that happened to his other clients, not allowing me to get a word in, then would abruptly end the call with nothing being resolved.
I also gave him all the information he requested regarding my finances, all of which were dated and clearly stated my income for the years he requested, I did my absolute best to make it as clear and straightforward as possible, at the end of the day he rambled about not having a puzzle piece (he had all the pieces for sure), calculated ei for a year that I was not on ei for no good reason at all and ultimately gave up and just averaged my wages out for the last three years to calculate my support payments. He also asked me 5 times for my CERB income even though I told him over and over again that I only collected EI, not CERB.
The entire experience he constantly told me how confused he was about everything (claiming myself and his client were sending upwards of 15 emails a day which was a gross over exaggeration) I always did my best to be straightforward and make things as simple as possible... I would never hire this man to represent me, you'd be much better off repping yourself... While, by some incredible miracle, our case was ultimately resolved without a need for a trial, he seemed to have little idea what was going on for a majority of the time.
