MILITARY PERSONNEL BE WARNED!!!
To any military members thinking of employing Valour Law and thier service's. Do not be taken in by thier military friendly slogan of "Law for the Canadian Military"
I approached this law firm to seek guidance on a family law matter while serving overseas on Op Reassurance. At first they seemed to be helpful and friendly. I first spoke to one of their interns, who asked me for information regarding the reason I was contacting them. I provided all the info they asked me for, and in turn I asked them for what there cost would be. I was given I price list for consultation and retainer, and agreed to pay and sit down over video call to the consultation. During the consultation the lawyer I spoke to told me, that due to the currnet COVID 19 crisis the matter I was pursuing might not be seen in court as the courts are only open to the most urgent of matters.
I paid for the consultation and then deliberated over the call and the options the lawyer provided to me over the course of the Easter weekend. I decided not to persue any further action, as the consultation was not confidence inspiring enough for me to drop the large sum of money the Law firm requires for their retainer.
Forward two weeks after I told the Lawyer via email that I would not be employing their services until the COVID 19 crises has calmed down and the court are more open to take and hear my case. I get invoiced again for all of the information the intern asked me to provide prior to the consultation in which I already had paid for in full.
In closing I was not told that they were charging me from the moment I contacted them, and had I known I would not have gone to them for help.
