We stayed with the rustic camping for 3 nights from Aug 12-14. The owners were very friendly and allowed us to use the showers and toilets and cook with propane stoves on picnic tablea by the inn. The only drawbacks were TONS of mosquitos in the camping field, and we asked for ice but were told kind of rudely at the bar no. Thanks for the great stay!

When we arrived around 4:00 p.m., the scowling but still talkative owner showed me around the room and the hostel, footing the bill for the 3 nights and encouraging me to book immediately for dinner, considering that there were only a few tables left. All this without worrying about my companion who was waiting in the car with our luggage ... Throughout our stay, the staff of the hostel was invisible (or nonexistent?), We were not offered any information on the activities offered. , and with the exception of a few teenagers on fatbikes, the beach was deserted ... The second disappointment concerns the room. The cachet of the Auberge des Maloney, which had supposedly been preserved by the new owners according to reports published in major Quebec dailies, was not at all present. Nothing warm in this room with colorful and shabby decorative elements, no soundproofing (we could clearly hear conversations and movements throughout the floor), poorly furnished (double bed inaccessible on one side, wall hooks unusable because they were placed above a chest of drawers, no fridge, no TV, no coffee maker, only one small armchair, etc.). The only positive point: the freestanding bath and abundant hot water. In addition, we counted very lucky to be rather thin and sympathized with the somewhat wrapped up customers who no doubt had difficulty using the built-in toilet in a narrow alcove. The third disappointment, which sealed our feeling of being scammed, was dinner. While we had booked for 7:30 pm to avoid the rush hour, we had to request a waitress from the owner after several minutes of waiting at the entrance to the dining room. The kitchen seemed deserted and only 3 or 4 tables were occupied. When the only waitress finally appeared behind the bar, she left us a good ten minutes to go about other occupations and give us time to look and choose our beers, when we just wanted to sit down at the table, consult the menu and eat! The menu has only 4 main dishes including 2 Gaspé dishes (cod and pan-fried scallops), the choice was easy and the soup entry of the moment arrived quickly. This tasteless cream of vegetables, but intense in garlic, did not bode well ... The waitress told us after investigation in the kitchens that it was a cream of cauliflower. The main dishes turned out to be even more disastrous, my companion's cod fillets and my 4 scallops, pan-fried probably several days ago and reheated in the microwave, were accompanied by mashed vegetables with roasted garlic, apple of earth and julienned vegetables offering no pleasant flavor. We ate the cod and scallops to get something in our stomachs and left our table, completely overwhelmed by the utter nothingness of this meal. My partner walked out in front of me containing his anger and I went to the bar to pay the $ 90 bill. To my relief, the service being included in the price, I didn't have to assess the performance of the poor waitress who never cared about our appreciation… In conclusion, an exceptional natural site 10 minutes from Percé and the historic attraction of the legendary Auberge Coin-du-Banc cannot alone ensure the success of the Gaspésie Base Camp project. Without a drastic improvement in the approach to welcoming and serving customers, this innovative project in the Percé region will remain a pipe dream. In addition, in case some would try to excuse these shortcomings by the shortage of manpower, I would like to point out that the other establishments (restaurants, snack bars, hotels and motels) frequented during our stay encounter the same difficulties. and succeed in maintaining the tradition of conviviality and quality of Gaspé tourist reception. (Original) Extrêmement déçue Première déception, l’accueil est totalement déficient. À notre arrivée vers 16:00, la propriétaire à la mine renfrognée mais tout de même volubile, m'a fait visiter la chambre et l'auberge, payer la note des 3 nuits et encourager à réserver immédiatement pour le souper, considérant qu’il ne restait que quelques tables. Tout ça sans s’inquiéter de mon compagnon qui attendait dans la voiture avec nos bagages… Tout au long de notre séjour, le personnel de l’auberge était invisible (ou inexistant?), on ne nous a offert aucune information sur les activités proposées, et à l'exception de quelques adolescents en fatbike, la plage était déserte… La 2e déception concerne la chambre. Le cachet de l'Auberge des Maloney, qui avait supposément été préservé par les nouveaux propriétaires selon les reportages publiés dans les grands quotidiens québécois, n’était pas du tout au rendez-vous. Rien de chaleureux dans cette chambre aux éléments de déco bigarrés et mal foutus, aucunement insonorisée (on entendait clairement les conversations et les déplacements sur tout l’étage), mal aménagée (lit double inaccessible d'un côté, crochets muraux inutilisables parce que placés au-dessus d'une commode, pas de frigo, pas de télé, pas de cafetière, un seul petit fauteuil chambranlant, etc.). Le seul point positif: le bain sur pied et l'eau chaude abondante. De plus, on s'est compté fort chanceux d’être plutôt minces et avons compati avec les clients un peu enveloppés qui ont sans doute eu de la difficulté à utiliser la toilette encastrée dans une alcôve étroite. La 3e déception, qui a scellé notre sentiment d’être victime d'une arnaque, a été le souper. Alors que nous avions réservé pour 19:30 afin éviter l’heure d’affluence, nous avons dû réclamer une serveuse auprès de la proprio après plusieurs minutes d'attente à l’entrée de la salle à manger. La cuisine semblait déserte et seulement 3 ou 4 tables étaient occupées. Quand l'unique serveuse est enfin apparue derrière le bar, elle nous a laissé en plan une bonne dizaine de minutes pour vaquer à d'autres occupations et nous laisser le temps de regarder et choisir nos bières, alors qu'on souhaitait simplement s'installer à table, consulter le menu et manger! La carte comptant seulement 4 plats principaux dont 2 mets gaspésiens (morue et pétoncles poêlées), le choix a été facile et l'entrée de soupe du moment est arrivée rapidement. Cette crème de légumes insipide, mais intense en ail, augurait mal… La serveuse nous a indiqué après enquête aux cuisines qu'il s'agissait d'une crème de chou-fleur. Les plats principaux s’avérèrent encore plus désastreux, les filets de morue de mon compagnon et mes 4 pétoncles, poêlés probablement il y a plusieurs jours et réchauffés au micro-ondes, étaient accompagnés de purée de légume à l'ail rôti, de pomme de terre et de juliennes de légume n'offrant aucune saveur agréable. Nous avons mangé la morue et les pétoncles pour avoir quelque chose dans l'estomac et avons quitté notre table, complètement subjugués par la nullité absolue de ce repas. Mon conjoint est sorti devant moi en contenant sa colère et je suis allée au bar payer la facture de 90$. À mon grand soulagement, le service étant inclus dans le prix, je n'ai pas eu à évaluer la performance de la pauvre serveuse qui ne s'est jamais inquiétée de notre appréciation… En conclusion, un site naturel exceptionnel à 10 minutes de Percé et l'attrait historique de la légendaire Auberge Coin-du-Banc ne peuvent à eux seuls assurer le succès du projet Camp de base Gaspésie. Sans une amélioration draconienne de l'approche d’accueil et de service à la clientèle, ce projet novateur dans la région de Percé demeurera une chimère. Par ailleurs, au cas où certains seraient tenter d'excuser ces lacunes par la pénurie de main d’œuvre, je tiens à souligner que les autres établissements (restaurants, casse-croutes, hôtels et motels) fréquentés pendant notre séjour rencontrent les mêmes difficultés et réussissent à maintenir la tradition de convivialité et de qualité de l’accueil touristique gaspésien.

Il nous avait fait rêver (en fait surtout moi) d'aller à la pêche au bar rayé sur la plage juste devant l'hôtel vers 5h du matin. Nous avions donc décidé de dormir chez eux spécifiquement pour aller pêcher. Quand nous sommes arrivés la veille de la pêche, il n'y avait aucune pêche de prévu pour le lendemain alors que ca avait été réservé sur leur site web. La réceptionniste, qui était très gentille, est allé parlé au proprio (qui était à 10 mètres de moi) pour voir ce qu'il pourrait faire, et il n'a même pas eu la décence de venir nous parler... La réceptionniste m'a offert d'aller pêcher avec son frère de 14 ans, mais bon, ce n'était pas exactement la pêche qu'on m'avait vendu. On m'a ensuite proposé d'y aller plus tard dans la journée, mais j'ai refusé. J'avais pas envie de leur donné plus de mon argent. Le déjeuner était bon, quoique la serveuse était très lente et pas du tout efficace dans sa gestion des tables... Très décevant comme hôtel.
