At first I was skeptical using realestatelawyers.ca for my property purchase as they are based out of Vaughan, but after speaking with their representatives I am very pleased with their customer service and response time. The Clerk I worked with was easily able to answer my questions and address my concerns. Also their mobile signing service is very convenient as it works around your schedule and is included for the Ottawa area. Overall very pleased.

These guys are super easy to deal with. They closed my last home sale. I have sold three this last one was the easiest. The mobile signing is really convenient. They came to my office days before closing. No rushing around at the last minute and trying to park at some downtown lawyers office.

Overall, our experience turned out to be the most stressful transaction we've ever encountered: it was inconvenient and they are completely incompetent. We hired these guys because of convenience (they come to you! + lock box!) and fixed price. 1) Our clerk didn't answer calls and emails + her voicemail was full. Turns out she was on vacation and forgot an out-of-office reply. Ok, that happens. We called another clerk who told us when she would be back, so we wait. Turns out she gave us the wrong date. When we asked to speak to someone else, we were told nobody else could work on the file. Later, someone else starts working on our file. Now there's 2 people working on our file and they give us inconsistent information. Very confusing, and clear lack of communication. 2) Commissioner of Oaths came to our door with mistakes in the contract. MANY mistakes. We were never given the contract to review beforehand, and instead of fixing the mistakes and resigning, he crossed out several pages of the contract. We asked if they were important and what would happen if we didn't have those sections signed, we were told "They might be important, but it might go through. If it's not acceptable, you'll have to hire a lawyer to fix it. If you ever you need a commissioner of oaths, here's my card - it's my personal business" 3) We asked if they could help with another service; it took a couple days to get back; they said they could do it, no problem. Less than a day before closing they didn't complete the other service and asked for help because "I don't speak French and the other party is French according to their voicemail" (Turns out other party is bilingual. Voicemail message is bilingual and only starts in French then goes English). So we hustled to get everything in order on their behalf. Then they charged us a lot more than we expected. The invoice was unclear and when we asked for them to break it down for us, they refused. We insisted. They sent us to PurpleBricks to explain their lawyer invoice to us (why? Nobody knows). PurpleBricks got back to us with a breakdown of the lawyer's services. (later we sent the invoice to our new house's lawyer to prove sale of house, and she told us we were completely overcharged). DON'T DO IT.

The mobile representative was very knowledgeable, and he made sure that we understood everything that we were signing. We received our electronic copy of the documents within minutes of the last signature. We used realestatelawyers.ca to close on a purchase this summer (during COVID), and there were multiple issues that caused us unnecessary stress during the process. First, we submitted our offer and mortgage paperwork nearly two months before the closing date but as the date approached RealEstateLawyers.ca couldn't find the paperwork and required our bank to send it over again. The bank ended up sending this information four separate occasions to the same person, we were lucky to have a responsive and excellent bank agent. Then, they sent us the final invoice on the Wednesday before our closing date, which was the next Monday. The instructions for transferring the funds were incorrect, and our money transfer could take up to two business days under normal circumstances but we're in a pandemic so they did not add any buffer to account for this. The funds were removed from our account on the Thursday morning, but the lawyers claimed not to receive them as late as 3pm on the closing day. When we finally got confirmation from the bank that the funds were received, they "looked into it" and sent us a note that they "had the funds in the account" just in time for us to close... the undue stress was not necessary as we were trying to pack up for the move. Ultimately we closed on time and got possession of the property but the situation was far more stressful than it needed to be and the disorganization on the part of the lawyer's office was anxiety-inducing. It's possible our experience was a fluke, but I can't recommend them at all.

Very flexible service, appointment was scheduled at home and after work hours, which is very crucial for people who work 9-5. Also, liked the fact that everything was digital, no need to sign 4 copies of each document then scan,then mail or email like the other law firms do. Will recommend anyone.

Truly convenient during the current lockdown situation. Felt relaxed with Greg as he walked us though the steps. In order to sign you do need to have a smartphone or tablet, desktop pc with a mouse may not work well.

I found the process of buying a condo through Real Estate Lawyers to be stressful. There was a short closing period but everything on their end was very last minute and I had to provide them info/documents right away. Was emailed on a Sunday saying that the payment was due the next day by 5pm (which my bank couldn't even guarantee but they ended up transferring the funds on time). Be sure to do your own research to be fully informed about the buying process. Also keep in mind that there are certain fees that aren't included in the flat rate. EDIT: they claim you get $100 for writing a review, but they haven't responded to me and it's been over two months.
