I may have had a bit of an exception-to-the-norm situation with them. They came recommended by my real estate agent (who had up until this point had good recommendations) for handling the closing of my place. I live outside of Ottawa and interacted mostly via email. I was clear and upfront that this was my first time selling and really didn't know the process or what to expect. I was asked to fill in a number of details about the sale of my place, and replied with questions I had. These questions were never answered, nor did I even receive an acknowledgement of my email until I followed up a week later. Long story short, I wound up seeking my own separate legal advice from a different real estate firm a few weeks later who explained the closing process to me and what to expect. It was disappointing, but ultimately it was money well spent to get a sense of what was going on. I had kept notes on everything hoping to let Ken know that this experience was pretty suboptimal as their website mentions part of their process includes chatting with Ken directly, but this never happened for me.

Worst Case Scenario We had a terrible experience with Ken Hoyt who was condescending, rude, inflexible, and particularly unhelpful when the conditions of our sale were not met. His solution? Close and take the buyer to small claims court. We felt overwhelming pressure from him to make his job easier. He didn't care about protecting our interests at all. He also kept our deposit and has not responded to our queries post-sale.
