Update**** Trying to get in touch with Dale after the fact is like pulling teeth. Left multiple messages and set a phone appointment and he never called back. It's been 3 months and no call back. Now I understand all the 1 and 2 stars. I was referred to Dale which is automatically a plus because I know the last person had a good experience with Dale. Very good experience working with Dale and his team. I first reached out to Dale through a referral several years back (2017) about a personal family situation. Without any prior knowledge or relationship, Dale was willing to take some time, communicate, advise, and direct me with my situation. Ultimately my civil situation arose again in 2020, and I reached out to Dale who helped me through the matter. Dale provided sound legal advice, and also gave me the autonomy to controlled my personal situation as I saw fit. We were able to avoid court entirely, and resolve a dispute in a fairly timely matter compared to other dragged-out separations or divorce. A year ago I was in need of representation; I was led to Dale based on other positive feedback regarding his services. I hope this does the same for someone else. Throughout 18 years of making support payments, multiple lawyers, over 100K in legal costs, and no end in sight, I started representing myself. Most recently, my ex-wife filed for more support as my income had increased since last agreement. At that time of the last agreement, I represented myself because I was tired of the excessive costs with no result. This time I felt there was finally a case to end support because the duration of the payments had exceeded the length of the marriage. I reached out to a prominent local lawyer to represent me. In the first conversation, I suggested I would like to settle this case and my preference that he work with the opposing lawyer to find a settlement. The lawyer responded that this was unlikely and that I would be paying to support for another 7 years and that court was unavoidable. I was not pleased with the lack of effort and I told him as much. He fired me the next day over email. This was the best thing that could have happened. I came across Dale his excellent reviews on the internet. When we spoke, I told him what I was looking for, and he asked me for information and got back to me a few days later. He thought my case called for a final settlement that depending on the other lawyer might be able to avoid court, he was in favor of dealing directly with the other Lawyer. While it took over 6 months to come to a final agreement, we avoided court. Dale gave me frank advice and made time for me. Unlike other lawyers who ran up costs writing emails and preparing court documents, Dale wrote a proposal, which turned into the final settlement. My legal costs to settle this matter were well below my expectations. Many other Durham region lawyers bill materially higher; and in my experience, they didn’t work towards equitable results for the parties. They seem to be more interested in adversarial activities that prolong the settlement process and drive costs up. I highly recommend Dale if you need quality representation at a reasonable cost. I feel fortunate that Dale represented me. He helped me finally end this matter and allowed me to move on with my life.
