I don't know how to thank Tamara for her fabulous work for a perfect application. Great lawyer, strong personality a truth-teller! Long story short, we are a family from Turkey in mid 40s and my husband is working in healthcare. We were drawn from EE pool in April 2020 as CEC. My spouse and I were stopped at the canadian border upon return from a family trip to mexico during the Covid-19 pandemic. Border security indicated that our common law union was invalid and therefore my spouse would be driven that night to upstate new york and we would be separated indefinitely. I had prior contact with the Capelle Kane law firm for matters concerning my spouse's immigration and contacted Betsy Kane directly during this encounter. She was available immediately and contacted the Border agent's supervisor to clarify that our union was in fact legal. The agent was forced to stamp my spouse's passport and did so begrudgingly. The border security guards don't seem to know the laws in which they are enforcing and seem to act on impulse. I highly recommend having competent legal representation for any immigration matters. Upon returning to Canada from the US, the CBSA refused my wife and 2 children entry into Canada and barred them for 1 year based on what should have been a minor miscommunication. Betsy had the bar removed the next day and our PR application was approved without any issues.
