As someone who found themself in a troubling, compilated and serious legal situation; with no prior experience with the legal process, seeking legal representation was a daunting task to say the least. I was fortunate enough to come across Ms. Currie’s information and reached out to her for legal advice and to pre-emptively schedule a consultation. After my first phone call with Ms. Currie, my initial impression of her was incredibly positive. She spoke professionally, without judgement, and explained what the legal process would entail in a way that was easy to understand, for someone with no prior exposure to such matters. From the initial consultation where Ms. Currie agreed to take on my case and legally represent me, to the successful conclusion of my matter (15 months later), I experienced the same level of professionalism from Ms. Currie. She would promptly provide me with written updates and would be available to answer any questions that I had. My adult son found himself in serious trouble with the courts. We met with a few firms and were immediately impressed with how down to earth, understanding and knowledgable Maureen Currie (the owner of the firm) was. She didn't try to sell us and said straight out that she recognized how important this was to us and that we should check around with other counsel to make sure that we had full confidence in whoever we decided to represent him. The thing was that she spent time explaining the process and didn't promise stuff that another lawyer did (that ended up being just wrong) as the Crown doesn't do diversion for really serious cases where there is a lot of evidence against you. One of the other lawyers we interviewed said that the only way to get this done was not to go to trial but for him to do a guilty plea and try to get off with as little time in custody as possible. Maureen was honest and said from the beginning that it sounded like a very tough case and would be an üphill battle, but that if we wanted to go to trial she would. We ended up hiring her. The reporting letters she sent us were detailed and explained where we were in the process. Yes, she was more expensive then the other counsels we interviewed but she was upfront from the beginning about her fee structure.. In the end looking back we really think we got more than what we paid for. She was always available to us, was extremely prepared and really good in court. We spoke on Friday nights, some Sundays. She even got back to me on mothers day when i could hear in the background that she had company. I think she forwards her phone to her home when she isn't at the office. Anyways, we felt we were in good hands but were still nervous at the trial but she was prepared and thorough. I can't imagine a better cross examination of the supposed victim. She seems to get along with the prosecutors but sure was no pushover. My son was found not guilty on all counts and i honestly believe it was her work and preparation that got this result. Thank you thank you Maureen. We will not forget your kindness and your professionalism and what you did to give my son a second chance at a life without a criminal record.

I am writing this review to thank Ms.Currie and her firm for her guidance and patience with my case. They were quick to respond and always answered my questions promptly. I decided to get an out of town lawyer to deal with an assault because the brantford prosecuter was too friendly with my first lawyer, who wanted me to plead guilty where i would get 90 days in jail.I went to her because of the reviews.She was real honest with me from the beginning and told me it would be much cheaper to get a local lawyer. I hired her anyways.. She got the Crown to agree to a peacebond because of some sort of charter arguement. After a lot of back and forth meetings she got the Crown to withdraw the charges so I don't have a criminal record. Yes, it was more expensive for her to be going back n forth but in the end it was worth it. I would do it again.

Who do you turn to when you find yourself in a serious situation and need legal representation? So many lawyers to choose from. I didn't know where to start. Thankfully it was suggested to me to give Maureen Currie a call. I stopped by her office and was greeted by very friendly, competent staff. Ms Currie wasn't there at the time but called me a short time later. She was a very reassuring voice to this rattled and terrified potential client. It was some time until we formally met as she needed to get all the evidence and information relating to my case. I was constantly updated by phone or email as to her progress. During our initial meeting, I found her very direct, yet non - judgemental and compassionate. She didn't sugar coat anything, gave me best and worst case scenarios, and kept me grounded when all I wanted to do was bury my head in the sand. I found a lot of the legal terms in the information regarding my case very confusing and hard to understand. She made herself available to me day or night to explain things to me in laymen's terms and walked me through the court process step by step. I was given "homework" to supply her with any information or details, no matter how small, that could help in my defense. Ms Currie works very hard on your case and has an eye for detail. She is very passionate about her trade ,doesn't leave a stone unturned, and " loves the fight". Maureen has a top notch, experienced team of experts at her disposal. Its also obvious that she is very well respected by judges and crown attorneys and has an excellent professional working relationship with them. I was warned in the beginning that the court system moved very slowly and it was going to be " the hardest two years of my life." That's a hard pill to swallow when all you want to do is pay your dues and move on with your life. My final drum roll was postponed even longer because of Covid 19. Even through the pandemic she continued to work diligently on my case. I had prepared myself for an imminent jail term, given the seriousness of my charges. Maureen managed to get a number of my charges dropped and a final sentence being a fairly lenient and short non -custodial term with probation. My son and I were here from the states when he was charged with a serious criminal charge. We knew nobody and had to rely on google ads to find a good criminal lawyer but didn’t know how meaningful they were. This firm had good reviews as did another so we visited them both. I must say that from the beginning with Maureen we understood why she was so highly reviewed she was understanding and gave us a lot of good information for us to consider. I was very impressed when she actually suggested we check out other firms to make our decision. We did and hired her. She is a very direct woman who certainly knows her way around the courts. We could not have been more impressed with her work. Her reporting letters were so detailed yet she always made time for our questions and calls. Even on Sunday. We aren’t using our real name here because of the fact that this was 2 criminal charges. They were both resolved fairly quickly without a criminal record which was so important to us. I just felt it was right to add another review. Yes she was a bit more costly then the other lawyer initially quoted us but she did exactly what she said she would. In less time and in the end less money then she initially quoted. So in the end it was likely cheaper or on par to the other lawyer. She is also very funny and compassionate. And what impressed my son is that she drives a motorcycle. My son kept saying how cool she was. I was just thankful for her hard work. Very prepared in court and obviously respected by the judge. The other lawyer kept talking to us about how terrrible the prosecutors were but how he could bambozzle them to get what he wanted. while Maureen only said they were professional doing their job and would not withdraw a charge without a good reason and gave us a list of things to do to put us in a better position. Anyways in the end it worked out perfectly and we both learned hard lessons. We do have tremendous respect for the legal system here. And this firm

My name is Mr. Robertson. AVOID this firm at all costs. Maureen quit on me and told the courts it was due to lack of communication. It was because she wanted more money. I gave her $13 grand for nothing. She has me in collections after all my family has been through. She also has no clue about mental health. Her assistant is careless. We attended the office to sign papers and not a person was in site - the doors unlocked. All that critical information in there and anyone could take it. DO NOT USE CURRIE LAW.
