I would not recommend this office to even my worst enemy. Worst experience ever with this firm. During the purchase of my new home with them, they made no effort to educate me on important legal decisions. This kind of poor communication only gets worse when they make appointments, you confirm them via email, and when you arrive, they tell you that you made a mistake and make you wait days for another appointment. Worst yet, they seemingly left all the paperwork until the last minute and then blamed us! Avoid the trouble and find another law firm that demonstrates a willingness to care for their clients.

Used them recently for 2 transaction (buy and selling houses), so I can only comment on the experience I had with their residential real estate lawyer. They've been on top of everything and made my part of the transition super easy. Very quick and prompt responses from the assistants and clerks to the lawyers. I only dealt with ~3 people but they've all been very professional. To boot their law office is pretty dope. Would definitely recommend and will be using them again in the future.

I honestly would not even give this law firm a whole star. Me and my ex purchased two different homes and sold ours with this law firm and are NOT impressed with the way it has been handled. First off, the receptionist is quite rude and not friendly at all. Secondly my house closed prior to Our house closing and thank god for that because they did not process the paperwork in time and my closing date was pushed back a day. We are currently on the closing date of our house and my exes new house and of course they are saying that they cannot process the paperwork in time. Therefore we do not get our money, and m my ex does not get his house so he has nowhere to sleep for the night. The fact that this has been pushed back is ridiculous. I haven’t even received a phone call from the law firm to let me know that we aren’t closing today. The only reason I know is because my ex called the law firm and then told me, so he did not receive a phone call either. Very upset with the unprofessionalism that this place has. I would NOT recommend this law firm at all, ever. They have no problem taking your money and also their sweet time to close deals. I will definitely be contacting the law society about this experience.

We purchased a house and used this law firm to complete the sale. Nathan Hawee was our lawyer. He communicated with us very well and in our appointment to review and sign documents, ensured we understood everything. As a first time home buyer, my husband and I appreciated this very much. I would recommend him if you are purchasing a home! Our closing was a bit challenging, and we expected this as the seller was not an organized person nor was the house clean in any capacity any time we had visited prior. We expressed these concerns to Nathan at our appointment and he explained what we could expect given the situation. Nathan communicated with us clearly throughout the closing process and gave us his honest opinion in the matter when we asked. I really appreciated that. Our closing was a day late, but this was not the fault of Nathan, but the fault of the seller and seller's lawyer. The reason I am giving four stars is because we did have some challenges with the receptionist or assistant (not sure of the title). She missed on our buyer's survey that we were first time home buyers, so the land transfer tax refund was not available when we met with Nathan. We had to pick up the cheque along with our keys a few days later (instead of it being available at our meeting when signing documents). More of an inconvenience than anything else. Our communication with her was lackluster at best (though she was always very polite) and we found ourselves prompting a lot the communication with her. We understand that a house closing may not be a big deal to the firm but it was to us and we felt that communication could have been a bit better leading up to our meeting with the firm. That all being said, I would use this firm again if I needed a lawyer, as I thought Nathan was very professional and knowledgeable, and took the time to explain in detail what we were signing. If you are looking for a lawyer to complete your closing process as a house buyer, I would recommend Nathan.

I would like to share my story. Last year we were being referred to this law firm by our realtor. My realtor gave our information to them and then Chinneck law called me. I was driving and there was lady who was giving me instructions. I didn’t. Able to fully understand what she saying and I told her that plz email me. She mailed me but one of the main document went into my junk folder, and as usual habit I don’t check my Junk folder regularly. I forgot about this communication. We had a early closing date like within 17 days so we find some other lawyer and he started processing our work. That lawyer was in touch with us every day during that period. When we were close to our closing , Chinneck law called on just 3 days before closing and said that they found out another lawyer processing our case , I was like when did I ask you to represent me. Where is a signed document. If I ask till this day they don’t have any document signed by me which state that I had gave them right to represent me. Then they used a grey law which gave them permission to charge me. I request them a lot and genuinely I don’t see my Junk emails. But they didn’t agree. They sent me a invoice of $700. I refused to pay so they keep harassing me with all kinds of emails and due dates and finally they told me if I don’t pay they will put this charge on collections. Seriously what kind of value they carry. As I don’t want to ruins my credit score. I paid them $600 for not seeing mail coming in my junk folder and though I didn’t use any service. I felt like I got mugged becoz of this grey law. But I feel there must be a Moral Ethics reputed law firm. I just have one question to them, do they check their Junk folder every now and then with such busy professional. If there answer is no then what you did to me was completely wrong. What a shame.

Several reviews here say they just want the money. I actually don't mind if people wanna make money. But shouldn't I get a receipt when I drop off a bank draft with an amount almost half million?! It seems the front desk didn't know what to do when receiving the bank draft with such big amount and apparently the lawyer's assistant didn't communicate well with the front desk. I am just disappointed by such UNprofessional!

Living three provinces away and with the Covid-19 fiasco taking place I was unsure of how long it would take to finalize my father's estate. My thanks to Jillian, Wendy and Jaime. From the first day we contacted Chinneck Law (during Christmas Holidays) - they took full control of what had to take place - I never had to travel back East - as everything was taken care of by phone ,email and couriered documents, we were kept fully up to date with what was taking place and were never left with any unanswered questions. From the beginning there were issues with this law firm. Information was incorrect and paperwork was filed late. I have worked with other law firms in the past and never had these issues. From my experience paperwork is filed earlier and not a few days before the expected closing date. The first communication we received from them was for the wrong information that didn’t pertain to our file, it was fixed when we told them, but it shouldn’t have happened in the first place. There was also documentation that was sent to them that they did not check until we realized the information was incorrect while signing paperwork. When we brought up that it wasn’t right they looked into and realized they had it, but forgot to add it. For something like purchasing a home it shouldn’t have been so unorganized. I had conversations on the phone with the assistant and she proceeded to laugh when I told them that they had only given us two days to move now due to not being given the keys till after closing. The seller had closed and moved out way before the firm finally processed our paperwork and caused us to move in late. I had never had this experience before and will not be using this firm again.

Never again. They worked with me on a house I bought. The previous owner did not pay the taxes. I kept harrasing them to fix it and they made me do most of the work. When they finally got to it, they didn't even recover the right amount and told us to be thankful that they even got something. Go elsewhere.

Please do not hire them they will rip you off big time. The way they bill you is completely to steal your money they don't give you a detailed invoice. People are right to say they just want your money and dont care about your case. Safe your time and money don't even think of hiring Chinneck. They don't justify why they charge you so much money so that at the end they don't do NOTHING FOR YOU! If you have an issue and ask to speak to their boss they tell you No that he can't speak to you.
