Very very bad experience. There were some delays in closing the deal and the lawyer called us and yelled at us. The lawyer also doesn't seem to care about anything except closing the deal. We have some concerns on the statement of adjustments that is clearly wrong. He just said it is the standard procedure and asked us to read some documents and refused to communicate. Anyway, I'm not sure if he is just having a bad day (or many bad dayS) or he is just terrible in the service. Oh, if you read other's review, you will know who is dealing with real estate transactions now. Updates: The lawyer admitted the mistake but still refuse to further communicate. Takes them months to process the money that they own us due to their mistake. There are many lawyers in the KW area. My personal suggestion is to find another lawyer.

Fast friendly and courteous service. Excellent fees. My wife and I have dealt with Gerry Schaffer for over 30 years! (Yes he is that old, but he makes it look easy). Our latest legal needs were selling our property and buying our retirement home on Lake Huron. Gerry did not handle our legal needs. We are now dealing with his Son Zack Schaffer. The sale went so smooth we didn't even know we were homeless!! ???? After a week I called the real estate agent for the purchase to inquire if there were any complaints or difficulties. None. Flawless. Our purchase was not due to close until 2 weeks after our sale. During the time from our agreement to purchase until close we made 6 amendments. We made sure that all communications and amendments either went through Zack or were forwarded to him. Zack also made sure of this in writing to to the vendor. Efficient and vigilante. On the day of our closing Nov. 6, 2019, we had a container del. scheduled, a shipment from Bad Boy, (I recommend them as well), a water purification tech., (ARC Water in Goderich), and Bell. It was a precarious logistical undertaking 100% dependent upon my lawyer closing the transaction in the early a.m. of Nov. 6. Needless to say I was anxiety personified. Zach sat across from me and said, don't you worry, if I have to I will come in and do the banking myself at 9:00 a.m. to close that deal. I said if he did that I would buy him pizza. Well I hope Zack, Gerry and their staff are enjoying their pizza lunch. They deserve it. I did not intend to go on at length. I did so after reading some other negative reviews. Let the Lawyers do their job. Don't hire them and start doing "some of the work yourself." It does not help them or you. As your Dad would say, "Don't be a back seat driver". Same applies here, dont hire a law firm and then be a "Philadelphia lawyer ".

Thanks so much Mr. Gerry Schaffer's for your reply. We have been waiting for the news of the $136.67 for weeks now. Google review is a powerful and effective way to communicate with your lawyer (or your lawyer's father). Yes, the transaction was delayed (and we paid extra legal fee for the delay, is this surprising, Mr. Gerry Schaffer? You can check your son's communication with us, the delay is through your son (our lawyer)). So called 'fail to promptly deliver the key', the buyer received the key in December (the closing is close end of November), but our deposit didn't come back until several months later, so if this November to December is 'fail to prompt', how do you call the several-month delay in returning us the deposit ('significantly fail to prompt'?). Last, Mr. Gerry Schaffer, do you have anything you want to add to justify why your son let us to pay this extra $1265 in the first place and cause us so much trouble? ======================================== I agree that the price is quite reasonable for a standard purchase and sale, however I wouldn't recommend the service. Life is short and I recommend to spend extra money for an accurate and efficient service. I learned from this mistake. I employed Mr. Zachery Schaffer to close a condo sale. Despite our (the seller and the condo management company) multiple attempts trying to convince Mr. Zachery Schaffer that we (the seller) should NOT pay the buyer the last-month prepaid rent since the rent will stay with the condo management company and goes to the buyer eventually, Mr. Schaffer insisted there would be no way he could make mistakes (YAY! he is that confident) and guess what!? He did. His mistake, further acknowledged after we contacted his father (Mr. Gerry Schaffer), costs us $1265 (this may not be that much for a lawyer like Mr. Zachery Schaffer, but almost one-month living expense for us). We had to wait for months to get this money back, and guess what? We only received $1100 money, more than $100 missing for no reasons. I only wish that we could have spent this $1265 for a better lawyer to void the back-and-forth arguments on why we should give the buyer $1265. Mr. Zachery Schaffer must have found these arguments annoying too because he refused to communicate with us any more. I assure you, Mr. Zachery Schaffer, the feelings are mutual, so "Why would $1265 happen in the first place?". This is our story of employing Mr. Zachery Schaffer for a standard condo sale. I am sure Mr Gerry Schaffer is a friendly lawyer and a good father when he does not listen to his son's one-side story and take actions to fix his son's mistake.

Terrible experience with these lawyers. Very poor communication and extremely unprofessional. Upon closing on my house in May, I went to pick up the keys for the house only to find out that the other lawyer had not received any funds from them. It was now 4:30pm and the deadline for them to close on the property was 5pm. I had the movers waiting for me to get the keys and I was in a panic waiting for Schaffer Law to get back to me. I had called both their office and Zack multiple times only to be totally ignored. I sent text messages and emails frantically as the other lawyers told me I may have to delay the closing until the following day. You could imagine the frustration as the movers already had all of my belongings waiting for me at the new house. When Zack finally got back to me, it was right at 5pm and his excuse was that the other law office had "some weird way to accept funds." They had sent the bank draft just merely minutes before the deadline. Speaking to the other lawyer, he laughed and said that he had never in 30 years dealt with such an unprofessional law office. They had kept me waiting in distress without even the courtesy of picking up the phone and explaining the situation. I received a follow up text from Zack blaming the bank and saying that "banks suck" shortly after picking up the keys. I didn't complain or say anything further since I was just happy to get the keys and move on but I did feel like I was treated poorly and with disrespect. Either way, I let it go and moved on with my life...no hard feelings. Until today... I received my first property tax bill in the mail only to find out that there was an interest penalty of $71.87 and another $48 for an outstanding balance. I quickly called the tax office to find out how this could have happened since it was only the first notice I had been sent. They told me that my lawyers did not send them any information upon closing on the property until late in September and that they were unaware of my purchase until then. I followed up by sending a text to Zack, who not surprising, did not reply. I then called their office to speak to Gerry directly but was redirected by his secretary to another associate who, funny enough, also did not answer. I called her extension a few more times before calling the office multiple more times to once again get no response. Same situation as the first issue that I had with them. When they know they're in trouble...they just don't pick up the phone. Avoid them at all costs!
